Yeah it's the 5 speed. Good point, I may ask about limiting it to 200Nm.

Just noticed, you running eibach springs or coilovers? Looks sleek without the arch gaps!

I've built a small 8" subwoofer for my Fabia It's designed to fit snugly in the "basket" in the trunk and have a quick connection so it's easy to remove if needed.  If someone wants to see

  • Just bought my monte carlo a few weeks ago.    Only done a few mods to it so far.   I've lowered it on eibach springs (30/45mm) and sprayed the badges black.    Also clay

Yeah just the Eibach springs.

Nice! How are you finding the ride so far? [Assuming stock struts]

Also, for everyone else - Has anyone considered getting rear sway bars?

https://www.driftworks.com/whiteline-anti-roll-bars-for-skoda-fabia-mk-3-typ-nj-11-2014-on.html

Been driving with a couple of my cruise mates lately, and noticed the car rolls quite a bit when pushed a bit hard

It's more bouncy than stock but stiffer on corners. About what you'd expect from stock struts and lowering springs.

Hey, is there anyone that knows if its possible to have a tow hook fitted on the Monte Carlo 2019 or Will the deffiuser be in the Way? :)

Looking at this;

Looks like it won't unfortunately.

Edit: Might be worth ringing up a nearby dealer tbh

Hi everyone hope all is well! Brilliant to see how much activity has been on this thread, never thought it would when I created it. Hope it has helped a few.

Not sure if this is the best place to start this discussion, but I recently had to go up to get my second service for my Monte at the Skoda Dealership. Costed £174. I've stuck with getting it done at the dealership so I can maintain the manufacturer warranty. However, my dad, who has an Octavia at 21,000 miles, has just told me a local trusted mechanic has said that it is a complete rip off  (Such as £100 for new spark plugs, brake discs/pads for £120, the total cost of the service being around £400). The mechanic stated he could service the car properly for under £100 and is adamant that the days of the smaller mechanics ripping people off are long gone, the bigger guys taking over. I told my dad it sounds too good to be true, but he seems positive.

Another story was about someone who had to get work done at JKC BMW, quoted for £1,700 and the mechanic was able to do the job for more or less than a tenth of the price.

What are your opinions on this? Is it completely ludicrous or does it hold some weight? I honestly would love to know!

I stick to an independent for all my services they can update the electronic book same as the dealer as well as retaining the warranty. Also, keeps the dealer questioning mods such as suspension or mapping. So I can the remove if I need proper warranty work. Although in most cases it’s less hassle to have the independent sort small issues.

Some more info is in this thread

It’s very possible. Stands to reason, less overheads, no expensive training programs for each staff member, no rack and rack of special service tools, big shiny expensive showrooms etc.

You could argue it’s unlikely they are trained to the same level but then there are a lot of independent service centres that are owned/staffed by disillusioned ex dealer techs anyhow. Nothing stopping them keeping up their training either.

Hey guys!

Does anyone know what the best way is, to jack up the rear of the car - both sides, via trolley jack?

Current videos on Youtube have suggested to jack up the front high enough, to slot the jack stands on the rear pinch welds, then repeat on the other side.

But that seems very unstable, unsafe and damaging for the car's chassis 😕

Reason; I recently purchased myself, Whiteline rear sway bars for my first mod, and will be installing it myself later today! :) #hype!

I just jack from the back suspension behind the wheel then stands under the normal jack positions. That allows the suspension free to move to any position.

Did you get the sway bar fitted?

I think it was absolute best mod I did to mine!

It also has Eibach lowering springs (absolutely brilliant and really happy I didn't go for coilovers), Forge intake, catback custom exhaust, stage 1 remap and 17 inch Team Dynamics with offset of 38 which pushes the wheels out just enough to give it a wider stance. Now considering a full downpipe with decat and then either stage 2 tune (circa 150 bhp) or a hybrid turbo which should get to about 180bhp

Is the forge intake a direct swap thinking of upgrading the air filter?

Yes it is - it fits both the 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI engine from 2015 onwards (as per Forge website)

The High Flow carbon fibre one? Or the cone type thing that loops down to the space above the gearbox?

@Kobayashi @FabiaGonzales

It gives a beautiful induction noise! I was giggling for about 2 weeks after getting it fitted

Fair, if your car has the plastic skid pan under the engine bay you may or may not get a decent amount of cold air to it. Personally id go for the carbon fiber high flow one

Lol, got a video for us?

Let's not get into the temp of the air going into the engine... I'm sure we've all seen our fair share of dodgy aftermarket "cold" air intakes. So yeah, I do see what you mean

Unfortunately I do not, I tried getting it on video but my **** phone couldnt capture the sound... It is absolutely comical! & thats what I want my Fabia to do, to give me plenty of smiles and giggles

Heh, i managed to keep a BMW behind me the other day, only a couple mph off my Fabias top speed, the bodyroll and floatyness of the stock suspension is a tad hairy at 110+ mph going round corners that are tight even for ~80, definitely on the edge of grip, i almost lost him before i got to the straight but then he got me as my car simply couldn't go any faster 😂

Some say the eibach lowering springs make the suspension a bit floaty at high speeds but good in cornering and lower speeds? How are you finding them? Since ill be getting new shocks (marginally passed on the MOT) anyway i might go coilovers as theyll be similar cost as a set of bilstein B6 shocks (tad firmer than stock) and eibach springs.

I enjoy being able to surprise much more expensive cars when it comes to cornering however the Fabias stock suspension is absolutely abysmal. I debated whether to get coilovers or springs for a while and in the end what made me go for springs was the fact I'm probably not going to track the Fabia often.

Now it terms of how well they do the job... After reading about so many people saying lowering springs are a waste of money I am happy to report I actually think they're absolutely brilliant! The Eibach springs have given the Fabia better handling than the 2006 Suzuki Swift Sport I had before which is known for having great handling. They are so good in fact that they have showed me I most definitely do not need coilovers.

I know what you mean, and that's a test I have carried out - since the springs have gone on, I did a 30 mile journey on a stretch of M62 and M18 at speeds of 100mph+ and I was super relaxed and I now trust the cars capabilities of keeping its own weight tied down, which I didn't before the springs.

My Mapper at Ade Tuning will get Approx 125bhp from a 110BHP changing nothing else, so will this intake get me a bit more? Its a 2016 DSG.

I think intake alone wont give any gains, but if you get intake and downpipe and then a custom remap/stage 2 map you can see circa 150 bhp

Is that 150BHP achieved using 99 super unleaded or standard 95 ron and standard spark plugs?

I am *assuming* that's on standard petrol and standard spark plugs because I havent seen mention of super unleaded or standard plugs. I think if you run super unleaded APR does a 98 ron adjustment which should see 150 bhp on standard engine!
