I've built a small 8" subwoofer for my Fabia It's designed to fit snugly in the "basket" in the trunk and have a quick connection so it's easy to remove if needed.  If someone wants to see

  • Just bought my monte carlo a few weeks ago.    Only done a few mods to it so far.   I've lowered it on eibach springs (30/45mm) and sprayed the badges black.    Also clay

VERY COOL!!! Mine is currently Stage 1 with catback - going sports cat in the coming weeks though with stage 2 map including the crackle over run - yours looks very cool!

My exhaust is hidden behind the bumper though, for the ultimate standard look 😉

Are you running sports car or decat? This is actually the one thing Ive been battling with

Yeah mines Monte Carlo - the black would look very cool with the Blue shell.

Decat, interesting... thats what I was leaning to but keep talking myself out of it... Decat is much cheaper than sports car though... & also more power!

Don't forget the added chance of being pulled over for it if the traffic police notice the smell and the fact you'll have to put the cat back in every year for its MOT. Even a sports cat is questionable for passing emissions.

Yeah I am also thinking of this

I wonder what other components the hybrid turbo setup requires, just sling it on, map it and get 180 ish bhp? Doesnt mention if Cat-back/sports cat or decat required so idk

I looked at hybrid turbo over the summer and I would like to do it at some point. From what I read this is what I gathered

There are 2 setups running on 1.2 TSI

First is run a standard turbo from 1.4 TSI with a decat or sports cat & an intake and should be good to map up to 170/180 bhp.

Second is run a hybrid turbo from 1.4 TSI with decat or sports cat & intake and should map up to 190/200 bhp.

In terms of engine internals, transmission limits & if intercooler is needed or not, I would rather not get into that because I saw many different things

Simply, you'd get less power without one. As per a stock car, you get some power with cat, some more with sports cat and some more with decat (when mapped accordingly). A remapper who knows what they're doing should be able to map a catted hybrid turbo without issue, but you'd make less power (as more restricted).

For the time being, once the important things are done and sorted (engine mounts, brakes and suspension), ill look into a 1.4 stock turbo and have it mapped with the stock exhaust system, i guess that'd give somewhere 150-160bhp?

That's before i go more ham with other things (intake, exhaust, ported head amongst other things, billet rods/shaft too maybe), to take it to 250+ in a year or two.

Still playing with the idea of putting a 1.4 TSI in there, looks like it'd be a straight swap retaining the same wiring harness and mounts. That should be able to put out towards 250 with a few lighter mods and with a lot more torque than the 1.2, all while retaining more reliability.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, since a popular mod on the 1.2 tsi engine is to swap the turbo from the 1.4 tsi one, I was wondering if the same mod can be done on the 1.0 tsi. Those hp numbers look so tasty...

Thanks in advance:)

I am by no means an expert but it is my understanding that the 1.0 TSI you have is the same block as the UP! GTI which is great because that is selling like hot cakes and is being ver well received so if you're keeping up with the UP! GTI scene you'll see that there are a LOT of engine mods available. 150 bhp should be super easy to do & I have seen one somewhere (Although I can't find it now!) an UP! GTI (or perhaps TSI 90?) that was running 190 bhp or something.

Maybe I didn't answer your question but the overall thought is - Yes, you can certainly have more power :thumbup:

Alright then! I'll keep updated with new mods available for the Up, thank you

The citigo could nip in some tight spaces, so a boosted UP GTI debadged would certainly be a lot of fun

Dont even get me started!

I used to work for a VW dealer... as soon as I heard they had an UP GTI I went running to it! It was one of the first ones in the UK... I still cant believe I didnt buy it 😂

The UP GTI is the only reason Im doing a few mods to the Fabia, because I knew if I left it standard I was going to buy an UP GTI

Currently somewere in the 140-160 BHP range (remap on the cards to safely get around 200BHP)

Still very quick and planted in current guise

Blue spark chip, K&N filter, Stainless custom cat back straight through exhaust, Forge BOV, Full coilover suspension change with 30% stiffer dampers and short stiffer anti roll bar links,

OZ Sparco Terra Rally wheels, Ex British F3 rear spoiler, also done 178 decibel air horn conversion/full MSA spec rally flaps/ R5 Evo livery (had it done like this 5 months before Skoda unveiled it in May)

Over winter im planning a bespoke fibreglass body kit to make it more Pikes Peak spec, big splitter & bespoke pikes peak spec rear wing

L.E.D. rally light bonnet pod

Bespoke bigger roof vent

remap to 200BHP

Well that sounds awesome! Can I get a piece of that action too? 😂

Id love getting 200 (or close to that mark) without a turbo...

Awesome! Yeah let us know please, Im only in Doncaster area

Question for the group - is everyone here with a MK3 TSI running standard accelerator pedal?

The delay is really getting on my nerves and apart from "Audi mod" (which I cant even get the code for on my OBD) is there anything else I can do?

I remember driving a 1.2 TSI Leon in Sport & that felt so much sharper!
