Android head unit upgrade
Hi all, I'm wanting some advice on upgrading my existing Skoda stereo for a 9 inch android after market device, but there are some many to choose from I have no idea what fits my car. I have previously got a replacement unit and although the website says it's fits my car, there is no way in hell it will go in the hole. My current stereo is the swing and I'm wanting a unit that will fit flush with the dash not floating. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Andy

Here my info: Device: 5Q0035840B HW: H30 SW: [This one is blank, I wonder how old it is...] Media Codec: 3141.0.0.1 If anyone could PM me I'd be very grateful, thanks!

Crankshaft position sensor location
You'll need to tell us which type of engine your Fabia has, there are several options. No idea what 'bank 3' might mean unless it's something referring to cylinder 3? Guessing it might be one of the 3-cylinder 1.2L variants? Does it start and run, or not?

Hello everybody
Hi, Not much to say, but I do enjoy my Fabia, so nice to meet you all!

Retro Side Assistent
So, for the first time in my retrofit history, I'm abandoning an idea... O3 mirrors manufactured by Magna Mirror O4 mirrors manufactured by SMR The design of the folding mechanism is fundamentally different. Therefore, modifying the brackets would only be possible by cutting and welding aluminum. I'm now using OEM O3 mirrors with integrated blind spot LEDs in the glass. The right one is already here: dimming, automatic dimming, blind spot indicator with glass! Complete side mirrors for €100!!!! Including shipping 😁 I just need the glass for the left one, or maybe I'll find another bargain.

Crankshaft position sensor location
Hi, trying to get my car back up and running before MOT next week and having trouble locating the crankshaft position sensor. I had 3 fault codes, leading to cam position sensor (now replaced), bank 3 and crankshaft position sensor. But I cannot pin down exactly which one is the correct sensor. Appreciate any help. Have attached a pic of what I 'thought' it was but now think thats a knock sensor.

Buying Octavia mk4 vs keeping MK3.5
Thanks everyone. I will keep it, but the change will come at some point. My only fear is that now I can get some money for it, but after a while, I doubt that I would be able to, and will have to fork out the full new car price. This is my point of change.

Oil change and service inspection message deleting for scala 2024 w/o buttons on the wheel
Hello guys ! Does anyone knows how can you reset oil change and service inspection message for skoda scala 2024 essence, without buttons on the steering wheel? As i understand, even with the OBDeleven device, after year 2024 its not possible, because VAG just blocked everything. So i assume, only option is official dealer?

Buying Octavia mk4 vs keeping MK3.5
I agree, if it's mechanically good and the bodywork is in good shape, unless you're in competition with the neighbours to have the newest cars (some are !!), I'd be keeping it. Look after what you have and it'll serve you well. ......or if you just fancy a change, fair enough although you might miss the BHP ?

The Superb II & FL Picture thread
Hi everyone, I recently bought a 2014 Superb II facelift (2.0, 170 HP, DSG, 220,000 km). It’s a very good car for its age. So far, I haven't had any issues with it. All the best to everyone!

Very wet carpets
thanks for the suggestions. Pollen filter totally dry, no sign of any damp on passenger (N/S) of car. As the carpets are dry above floor level, it would seem the water is entering very low down. I have checked the scuttle drains and they're flowing fine. One thing that puzzles me (above the rest of this!) is how the rear passenger footwell has got so wet. Assuming the water (which is clean and odour-free) is entering the driver footwell, I cannot work out how it reached the rear, as there appears to be cross member under the driver seat and the carpet in front/on top/ immediately behind it, is all dry.

1.0l TSI SE suitable for private hire use ?
I had 1.0 litre Octavia a few years ago. Did the occasional run to the airport with 5 up and stuffed with suitcases. No problems at all.

Skoda Connect woes
Brief update on this - after some more testing: Talkmobile monthly SIM (Vodafone network) works in both the CarStick and via mobile tethering O2 Classic PAYG SIM doesn't work in the CarStick, but does work with mobile tethering So it seems that O2 PAYG isn't co-operating with the CarStick, or vice versa. Which is a pain because O2 Classic PAYG is a very cheap deal that's no longer available - it barely uses any credit. I don't think it's anything with the vehicle itself, which rules out taking it to a dealer as Skoda Connect suggested.

the truth about electric cars
Rain saps power in ICE cars similar to EVs it is that EV have far superior data systems we can measure small difference in energy usage. ICE vehicles ars so wasteful of energy, most themselves energy goes out of the exhaust pipe as waste heat, that a mile per gallon list in rain is no big deal. Wgen chraging it is easy to monitor the electricity going in to the Joule, program to stop the charge on battery level, which i do alot. Just got to make sure one does not pick up an idle charge. Worse than downloading more power than one intends, at big expense, is to be charged dosh for being connected but not charging up, that would hurt. Never had that thankfully.

Very wet carpets
Just because it's free and easy, drop your pollen/cabin filter out and see if it's full of water. Again, on the cheap and easy. have a sit in the car and get someone to go round it one area at a time with the pressure washer, and see when water comes in. Probably won't be an external leak, but it's the easy place to look.

Heater recirculation flap motor replacement.
The MK3 has a removable lower glovebox, evidently, whereas the Mark 2 does not. Access is the whole issue here, not what you do when you have it. One day I'll get round to doing the job.
