Not quite even as he is much bigger / heavier than Imogen but the range achieved is so much it would have made little difference (spoiler, more than 4 times) swapping drivers around......... @26DIPP Is this for use abroad in a region where Snow Chains must be carried and fitted if sign posted to use Snow Chains? Fitting them is a plaster and time consuming. Making it more awkward is simply not clever. Clearance with clean chains is one thing, but what is important is the size / clearance once the chains get snowed up and the wheel arches do and the area between wheel and where the mud flaps would be fitted if fitted. There have been threads over the years with other Skoda Models and Snow Chains fitted to bigger Wheels / Tyres than the SKODA Recommended ones.

They are lit by LED, same type as on my UK 2020 SE model. LED strips hidden along the top inside, with thin daylight running light strip along the bottom. Surprised that both main and dipped beam stopped working. Maybe a wiring fault rather than the LED’s themselves?? Does the daylight strip light still work? Bad news - I believe- is that they are sealed, no way to change the LEDs.

How to Control Safelock Full Lock (Safekey active): Press the lock button on your key fob once. Disable Safelock: Press the lock button on your key fob twice quickly if you need people or pets to be able to open the doors from the inside. (If you have a pet that is able to open the door from the inside then please share).

I just picked up my new superb estate SE L Iv on Friday. I hadn’t been able to identify a rear wiper in the spec but there is indeed one fitted im happy to say. I agree with Coral-C that, for me, also, it is an essential item and under uk motorway winter conditions I used it all the time. I replaced the OEM front wipers with the Bosch ones and although haven’t tested them in the ongoing desert conditions of southern England yet, I could tell just by comparing them that they are more robust and better quality than the ones that came with the car. So far, I’m loving the new car. Still fiddling incessantly with settings but am getting well over 110 mpg in the short time I’ve been on the road, with a couple of hours of motorway driving and a few city low speed electric trips. The seats are great and the thigh support makes a big difference as well as the massage seat features. I’ve got a 3.5 hr drive next week and I’m really looking forward to it:) Thanks to the helpful suggestions I’ve already received from other members of Briskoda.

As it turns out - yes. Pulled the pump - bottom and top halves not attached (and no sign of the spring either) and the key transfer pipes were disconnected. So someone had been in there before. Sorted that and all my issues seem to have been resolved 🤞

In summary, and this is subtly different (and I may have been less clear with the original question): If I can switch it off, and it stays switched off (unless I choose to switch it back on), then that's actually what matters to me. A 10 year old Octavia has some of this stuff - drowsiness alert for example - that was one of the first things I got rid of: it was uselessly inaccurate! The brake warning system (just a warning), despite the occasional false alarms, I judged to have more merit (it's possible to be temporarily distracted by something at just the wrong moment on a very busy road). But in each case it should be the driver's decision. On the older car, that is the case. What I can't tolerate is the idiocy of being forced to configure settings individually from scratch every time I get into the car. Could I (broadly) assume that both the Kodiaq and the Karoq prior to the facelifts (ie, Kodiaq Mk1, and Karoq up to 2022 or whatever the date was) are probably fine on both counts (remembering settings and SFD 2)? Or - to ask my question above differently (re the settings): Have people here using the Mk1 Kodiaq had problems themselves - or heard of problems - wrt user settings no longer being remembered? If not, then that presumably answers that question, at least here wrt the Kodiaq? The Certificate of Conformity - thanks again. Two elements here, a) what I initially narrow any search to, which is the above, and then b) DD once I see something I like. That Certificate looks like b) , ie something prior to buying. Along with physically checking... Ie, change some "driver aid" settings, switch off - come back and switch back on... Just now reading your reply to Lee01 - that's the crux of my question. Which versions have user settings that are remembered, and which more modern versions have now failed that test....

No. Some of them cannot be disabled at all (Like Event Data Recorders). Others can be disabled by the driver, but must automatically re-enable themselves at every "key-on" (i.e. "startup"). Sadly, all the most irritating ones (Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist), are ones that have to be disabled on every startup.

Beats me. Obviously not serious enough for a fail in my case so they just advising me. According to my indi garage the spring mounts are a corrosion failing point on many VAG group cars.

I can't fully answer this for GB cars, because it's really complicated. First of all, we had (in the EU), "General Safety Regulation 2", which incorporated a whole load of driver aids, some of them more helpful than others! Things like Advanced Emergency Braking systems for solid objects and other vehicles - that feature that randomly jabs the brakes when you least suspect it. From the 7th of July this year, all new vehicles first registered in the EU, need to have that system, but augmented to be able to detect pedestrians and cyclists. There are other features like Lane Keep Assist (mandatory from 2022) and Emergency Lane Keep Assist, and Intelligent Speed Assist, Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning, Event Data Recorders...etc. I can get a complete list and the implementation dates if you want... There are two complications though. 1. Vehicles manufactured before the deadline but not registered before the deadline can, at the discretion of the EU Member State it is being registered in, apply for an "end-of-series derogation". This would give them an extra 12 months after the deadline to register those cars. That makes it really difficult to know which cars are likely to have which of those features, if only judging by the registration date. 2. The UK left the EU, (except Northern Ireland, in effect), so none of these measures are mandatory in GB yet. However, it is not illegal to fit them, and a lot of manufacturers can't be bothered making a different spec of car for GB alone, so they fit them anyway! The GB government does intend to align with the EU regulations and bring this in shortly, but hasn't done so yet. If you can get to see a Certificate of Conformity for any vehicle that you're interested in, Field 54 contains a load of acronyms and abbreviations of what driver aids that particular car is fitted with.

Make sure connected for audio as well as Bluetooth Handsfree ?

I tested it and indeed the car starts to change lanes by itself when i trigger the corresponding indicator. I love it on the highway. One just needs to be careful for the temp markings(east europe)

Somebody can help me please to know what the hell of bulb I need or driver module for my car ? I try to find what k8nd of bulb I need ,or driver module, because on left side the short and long beam stop to work and when I try to find what I need , TOTALY different answers : LED, XENON, on Halfords H7( illarios no way H7)...I attach a pic of my headlight, maybe somebody can help me, for sure is not MATRIX.There are 4 cavitys and I can't see any kind of bulb/led/xenon, the source of light is somewhere up inside those cavity, two for low beam, + 2 for long beam.Many thanks.

Factory. It’s pretty crap to be honest - gets brittle and starts to peel. It’s worst on the jacking points if someone has ever used an emergency jack, or one with the incorrect pad. For the most part, it does the job well enough.

Ever since I got my new Octavia combi/estate "Scout" in September 2020 (last of the MkIII Facelift, manufactured April 2020, 2.0DSG-7 automatic Diesel, full LED headlights package, but standard 2013-era bulbs in the interior), one of the two cargo area lights has flickered. By "flicker" I mean, I open the cargo area rear hatch, and the right side light comes on and stays on solid, and the left side light tends to not come on, or to come on and off intermittently if I tap it or bump that side panel as I'm loading/unloading. If I tap the lens of the left-side light a couple of times until it turns on, it will stay on unless/until I happen to bump into it/ the left side panel again. The cause is pretty clearly a loose wire/connection behind the side panel, because I recently changed out the bulb from the factory original 5W halogen to a much brighter LED bulb, and it still does exactly the same thing. Since it doesn't seem to be the blocky connector of the lens-and-bulb assembly that snaps into a ~2cm wide x 6cm long rectangular cutout in the cargo area interior side panel, as I removed that and reconnected it as part of replacing the halogen lightbulb within the lens unit with the LED bulb, I assume it's the flimsy two-wire connector which provides the blocky connector to the lens, and then disappears behind the panel to somewhere I can't see. Any guidance on how to get at the other end of that flimsy 2-wire connector, to see what might be loose, and try to tighten or otherwise repair it? (I fear that I'll have to remove the interior left-side panel, and of course I don't want to break anything...) thanks, -Jay
