Have a look to see if there a motorfactors near you. They may well stock them as our local one had one on the shelf as someone ripped my sons off on his mk1 fabia. As for the radio code switch ignition on and make sure radio is switched off then switch ignition off and leave for 20-30mins. Switch ignition on then radio and it should resync and start working. If it still asking for code then it may be in the radio instruction booklet or car booklet. Check its not in glove box as well. If the above doesnt work then I am afraid you may need to contact dealer it came from. Alasdair

Hi all, was researching this for a while, and seen comments on Seat forum stating that in 2023 VWG changed the recommendation on belt changes. So i contacted Skoda directly and they confirmed that my 1.4 TSI engine is on a lifetime schedule! 67 plate by the way, might consider an inspection in a few years. 66k on the odo at the moment

If you have a basic knowledge and are used to working on cars then fair enough have a go, but If you know nothing about mechanics especially brakes get someone else reliable to do it whether its a garage or a friend with experience. Have had a few friends that tried themselves and made an arse of it. The following I have had to sort for them. Pads fitted but not behind the part of the carrier that secures them. Pads fitted with outer pad as inner and vice versa Slider pins not tightened enough and not lubricated Discs not running true due to corrosion on stub axle Air in system after caliper change (they didnt know how to bleed system properly and thought the brakes would bed in) I could go on and on. Worse one was a friend that got a so called mobile mechanic to do hers and he only put one bolt back in each caliper. She had to brake suddenly on motorway and bang no brakes and just managed to control car before hitting central reservation. Alasdair

Yep, I never thought I'd change from an RS, but my car has passed the 3 year boundary and will soon want an expensive service, discs and all sorts of TLC. Throw in the increasingly expensive fuel, VED and the fact that I'm getting older, I've now lost my parents and dog I've decided to have a change and go electric! I'm not leaving the Skoda fold though, I'm getting a Elroq Sportline 85 instead, had a test drive and I was very impressed with it, it was smooth, comfortable and airy. Also it's going to be cheaper to "fuel" at home and with a broadly similar range to what I get from my RS now it was a no brainer for me. My RS leaves me at the beginning of December.

No you don't have to tell the they have been replaced (the car will already know LOL) no joking apart doing the front pads/disks is poss one of the easiest jobs you can do, and as long as you use some common sense, and have every thing prepared, the job will take about 1 hr and no you won't die after fitting them, and these days there is Youtube that will show how to do it if you get stuck, thats the problem with people now, they just would pay over the odds for jobs

The pan roof is an optional service item on the Menu at most dealers, £149 every two years: clear drains, lubricate moving parts, moisturise the nenoprene seals. You can buy the Krytox moisturiser off eBay it’s quite pricey but you use very little, also off eBay nylon cable to rid through the drains, fronts are easy, back ones inaccessible without risking damaging the nenoprene seals. I do mine every 6 months. Thd backs I do by parking the Karoq facing up hill on my drive, with the roof open I pour some water with a bit of screen em wash in it, as a marker, then go and look under the each corner of the rear bumper for liquid that smells like screen wash. So far no problems.

On my end, I prefered to wait for the Face Lift (starting 2024) who solved most of the issues (at least, based on feedbacks found so far). Regarding the lane assist by default, can be painful but it can be disabled by 2 clicks from a button on the steering wheel (a bit painful but more manageable than in other cars where you have to move in 5 menus and sub-menus) Speed warning is now mandatory in all cars in Europe but not too intrusive in my point of view (just a small notification which remains sometime really usefull when I drive in Paris where the speed can switch 10 times in less than 2 kilometers...) Regarding ODB11, sounds like they are working on it to manage the SFD2 and this point really sucks... (ODB11 is really usefull to perform some changes or even when you change your battery). I hope they will be able to sort it out else you need to move to VCSD

As a ex-programmer, I am astonished at the level of incompetence shown by the current batch of software developers. It is a basic skill of the trade to consider what might go wrong at every step of the update and to gracefully handle it. The 'switch it off and on again' approach might just about be acceptable for a desktop computer. But for a car or other system that completely depends on the software it is utterly unacceptable. I don't think airlines would be happy if they had to switch their jets off and on mid-flight to reset a software glitch 😉 So far, the worst I've had personally is a persistent message on the screen that 'updates are being applied' long after they had finished doing so. I'm dreading getting a more significant failure like yours. Somewhere in this there is a class action lawsuit against VAG brewing for the loss of utility when their shonky software fails. In this case, you could not use the car, had to wait hours for a reboot, and had the costs and inconvenience of getting the garage to help. And you won't be the only person this has happened to. Hi everyone, I am in the process of buying a 2021 Škoda Superb iV Estate (Facelift, 1.4 TSI PHEV) imported from Germany with ~105k km on the clock. While checking the factory build sheet / PR codes, I noticed the car was originally coded with QI4 (Fixed interval - 15,000 km / 1 year). However, looking at the official digital service history from the German dealer network, all oil services were performed strictly according to the flexible LongLife schedule (QI6 - ~30,000 km / 2 years): 1st oil service: ~30,700 km (at ~24 months) 2nd oil service: ~61,700 km (at ~15 months) 3rd oil service: ~93,900 km (at ~14.5 months) All services used VW 508.00 / 509.00 (0W-20) oil. For owners of Superb iV / Octavia iV PHEVs built between 2020 and 2023: What oil interval did your car come with from the factory? (Fixed 15,000 km / 1 year or Flexible 30,000 km / 2 years?) What interval have you been running since? Have you kept the 30k km / 2-year LongLife schedule or switched to fixed 15k km / 1-year annual oil changes? Any known issues or concerns with fuel dilution / chain wear on the 1.4 TSI EA211 PHEV when running the full 30,000 km LongLife interval? I plan to switch to a strict 15,000 km / 1-year schedule once I take delivery, but I’d appreciate your insights and real-world experience on how common this factory-coding vs dealer-service discrepancy is. The Scala monte carlo has a fixed pan roof, the new Sportlines in my local dealer still had the opening roof if I remember correctly.

Cant help you with the radio code but I ended up getting a rear wiper from the Skoda dealers for the wifes Fabia recently.It seems strange Halfords dont stock them, I found exactly the same thing

Morning all It’s great that there are sites like this to offer mutually supportive advice. I have a Fabia Bohemia estate first registered in 2007. I bought it from my stepfather who had it from new. It’s been a great car since I got it in 2023. I need a bit of help on a couple of things: After a flat battery the radio code is required to start it again and I can’t find it and step dad doesn’t recall where he kept it. How can I find out what the code is? I need a rear window wiper and Halfords don’t seem to stock them. Any advice on a decent replacement? I have a 2020 Mk4 Octavia 1.5 TSI manual and I love it. Bought 2nd hand when slightly under 4 years old, it hasn't been all plain sailing but I have experienced significantly less problems than what some have going by posts made on here. Not sure the first owner was as lucky, by viewing my digital certificate you can see that the head unit on the infotainment system was replaced as was the telematics module before I got it. My issues were slight software glitches initially, followed by a potentially more problematic software issue relating to the airbag module after flattening my battery. But all sorted thanks to some great advice on here and elsewhere, followed by a trip to see @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits The car is a fantastic drive, very comfortable and returns great MPG figures too. Of course, having that enormous boot is an added bonus as mentioned. I have made adaptions to the car using OBD11 in order to make the experience of driving it even less of a hassle. Nothing major, just simple things such as disabling lane assist, adding standard CC, and disabling certain alarms such as driver's door open when the ignition's on etc. I also enabled fog lights to come on with my high beam as I live in a very dark area, just little things as I say that make my experience of the Octavia more pleasurable. That said, I'm aware that on the newer model (the 4.5) such customisations aren't available, which is what puts me off it. I recently had a brand new (26 plate) Octavia for a day and whilst it was very similar to mine obviously, things such as lane assist by default, speed warnings by default etc I think would bug me if I was to own one. For that reason my advice would be to look for a good 2nd hand Mk4 (up to 2024) See if you can take a look at the vehicle's digital certificate before purchasing, as that should show any major work done to the car in its lifetime. From there I would insist on making sure all of the software was up to date, if you can't have that done by a dealer then seek out a specialist such as @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits who I mentioned earlier, and they'll be able to help out with that. Then of course use OBD11 to make the slight changes so that you don't need to turn off lane assist every time you get into the car etc. Might sound like a lot of bother, especially if you have no experience of such things. But trust me, I didn't, yet with a little research on here as well as other VAG forums I was able to figure things out to the point I needed to. Unless of course the niggly things don't bother you, then of course the Mk 4.5 is probably the safe option as it would seem a lot of the previous software issues have been ironed out during that upgrade. Good luck whatever you decide, but yes, in answer to your original question, I would recommend the Octavia, and think that because you like the Scala you will love it.

My 2023 Sportline has an opening pan roof, your post is the first I’ve read mentioning a fixed pan roof. I know 2024 year Sportline had opening pan roof as well. I think the early roof drain outlets had a tendency to block up as they had a restrictor on the opening to prevent ingress, the drain outlets on my car seem to have an unrestricted opening.

I happened to come across this 2019 BRISKODA Karoq-related topic https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/463124-dipstick-question/ I doubt this has any relevance to the dipstick of the Fabia Mk4 car owned by @fabiamk4man but it MIGHT still be worth emphasising which side of the dipstick the 'dotted' oil-level section should be on. These two images should make this clear...

If battery warning light is working and no other problems are apparent, it will be fine to leave it as is.
