On my end, I prefered to wait for the Face Lift (starting 2024) who solved most of the issues (at least, based on feedbacks found so far). Regarding the lane assist by default, can be painful but it can be disabled by 2 clicks from a button on the steering wheel (a bit painful but more manageable than in other cars where you have to move in 5 menus and sub-menus) Speed warning is now mandatory in all cars in Europe but not too intrusive in my point of view (just a small notification which remains sometime really usefull when I drive in Paris where the speed can switch 10 times in less than 2 kilometers...) Regarding ODB11, sounds like they are working on it to manage the SFD2 and this point really sucks... (ODB11 is really usefull to perform some changes or even when you change your battery). I hope they will be able to sort it out else you need to move to VCSD

Hi everyone, I am in the process of buying a 2021 Škoda Superb iV Estate (Facelift, 1.4 TSI PHEV) imported from Germany with ~105k km on the clock. While checking the factory build sheet / PR codes, I noticed the car was originally coded with QI4 (Fixed interval - 15,000 km / 1 year). However, looking at the official digital service history from the German dealer network, all oil services were performed strictly according to the flexible LongLife schedule (QI6 - ~30,000 km / 2 years): 1st oil service: ~30,700 km (at ~24 months) 2nd oil service: ~61,700 km (at ~15 months) 3rd oil service: ~93,900 km (at ~14.5 months) All services used VW 508.00 / 509.00 (0W-20) oil. For owners of Superb iV / Octavia iV PHEVs built between 2020 and 2023: What oil interval did your car come with from the factory? (Fixed 15,000 km / 1 year or Flexible 30,000 km / 2 years?) What interval have you been running since? Have you kept the 30k km / 2-year LongLife schedule or switched to fixed 15k km / 1-year annual oil changes? Any known issues or concerns with fuel dilution / chain wear on the 1.4 TSI EA211 PHEV when running the full 30,000 km LongLife interval? I plan to switch to a strict 15,000 km / 1-year schedule once I take delivery, but I’d appreciate your insights and real-world experience on how common this factory-coding vs dealer-service discrepancy is. The Scala monte carlo has a fixed pan roof, the new Sportlines in my local dealer still had the opening roof if I remember correctly.

Cant help you with the radio code but I ended up getting a rear wiper from the Skoda dealers for the wifes Fabia recently.It seems strange Halfords dont stock them, I found exactly the same thing

Morning all It’s great that there are sites like this to offer mutually supportive advice. I have a Fabia Bohemia estate first registered in 2007. I bought it from my stepfather who had it from new. It’s been a great car since I got it in 2023. I need a bit of help on a couple of things: After a flat battery the radio code is required to start it again and I can’t find it and step dad doesn’t recall where he kept it. How can I find out what the code is? I need a rear window wiper and Halfords don’t seem to stock them. Any advice on a decent replacement? I have a 2020 Mk4 Octavia 1.5 TSI manual and I love it. Bought 2nd hand when slightly under 4 years old, it hasn't been all plain sailing but I have experienced significantly less problems than what some have going by posts made on here. Not sure the first owner was as lucky, by viewing my digital certificate you can see that the head unit on the infotainment system was replaced as was the telematics module before I got it. My issues were slight software glitches initially, followed by a potentially more problematic software issue relating to the airbag module after flattening my battery. But all sorted thanks to some great advice on here and elsewhere, followed by a trip to see @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits The car is a fantastic drive, very comfortable and returns great MPG figures too. Of course, having that enormous boot is an added bonus as mentioned. I have made adaptions to the car using OBD11 in order to make the experience of driving it even less of a hassle. Nothing major, just simple things such as disabling lane assist, adding standard CC, and disabling certain alarms such as driver's door open when the ignition's on etc. I also enabled fog lights to come on with my high beam as I live in a very dark area, just little things as I say that make my experience of the Octavia more pleasurable. That said, I'm aware that on the newer model (the 4.5) such customisations aren't available, which is what puts me off it. I recently had a brand new (26 plate) Octavia for a day and whilst it was very similar to mine obviously, things such as lane assist by default, speed warnings by default etc I think would bug me if I was to own one. For that reason my advice would be to look for a good 2nd hand Mk4 (up to 2024) See if you can take a look at the vehicle's digital certificate before purchasing, as that should show any major work done to the car in its lifetime. From there I would insist on making sure all of the software was up to date, if you can't have that done by a dealer then seek out a specialist such as @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits who I mentioned earlier, and they'll be able to help out with that. Then of course use OBD11 to make the slight changes so that you don't need to turn off lane assist every time you get into the car etc. Might sound like a lot of bother, especially if you have no experience of such things. But trust me, I didn't, yet with a little research on here as well as other VAG forums I was able to figure things out to the point I needed to. Unless of course the niggly things don't bother you, then of course the Mk 4.5 is probably the safe option as it would seem a lot of the previous software issues have been ironed out during that upgrade. Good luck whatever you decide, but yes, in answer to your original question, I would recommend the Octavia, and think that because you like the Scala you will love it.

My 2023 Sportline has an opening pan roof, your post is the first I’ve read mentioning a fixed pan roof. I know 2024 year Sportline had opening pan roof as well. I think the early roof drain outlets had a tendency to block up as they had a restrictor on the opening to prevent ingress, the drain outlets on my car seem to have an unrestricted opening.

I happened to come across this 2019 BRISKODA Karoq-related topic https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/463124-dipstick-question/ I doubt this has any relevance to the dipstick of the Fabia Mk4 car owned by @fabiamk4man but it MIGHT still be worth emphasising which side of the dipstick the 'dotted' oil-level section should be on. These two images should make this clear...

If battery warning light is working and no other problems are apparent, it will be fine to leave it as is.

I’m very happy with my Octavia, a 2020 build mk4 estate. The boot is huge, beaten only by the Superb estate. Issues with early build mk4s have been sorted through a combination of software updates and some hardware replacements. Newer builds, I understand, are much less problematic and I’d be happy to buy one if in the market today (which I’m not cos I’m so pleased with the one I have I’m keeping it longer than I normally do).

Oh wow, yes definitely a wiring issue there. Mine is definitely something to do with the buffers and striker bar. If I use a screwdriver to simulate the bar closing the latch, it clicks into 1st position and then 2nd closed position fine and the car says the boot is locked and closed, so the latch sensor is fine. I have it now where it closes, pulls down but is about 2mm not doing the 2nd click fully via the pull down. I have a suspicion that the bar itself is too thin. going to add some tape as a test to increased the diameter of the striker bar and see if that works

Moved to the Octavia section as requested. The boot in an Octavia is massive. It’s what’s stopping me from finding my next car! I dont want to lose boot space, but I also fancy something different for a change after 7 1/2 yrs with my mk2 hatchback. But there are very few vehicles that come close to the boot of an Octavia tardis. Golf estate has been discontinued, it’s all bloody SUVs now. Not that I saw a 2026 golf gti hatchback listed at €75k last week, so clearly vw have lost the plot entirely anyway

Sorry not been on this site for awhile The only thing I get now is if I open the glovebox the dash indicates the the tail gate is open and I get the binging sound and when I close the glovebox it stops. Small price to pay for it only being that and not everything else that it was doing.

@Breezy_Pete Thanks, that helps. The battery warning light works normally - it comes on with the ignition and goes out after the engine starts. When you say "it's odd that the blue wire doesn't appear to connect to another blue wire at the black 2-pin connector", I guess someone previously repaired/replaced part of the wiring and used a different coloured wire? Also, since my battery warning light works normally, maybe blue D+ wire is actually working correctly? If so, should I just leave it alone and only repair the disconnected lilac/green wire? And if that lilac/green DFM wire has been disconnected like this for a while, what problems or symptoms could it actually cause, especially on a car without ASR? I don't think my car has ASR/traction control, and I have no fault codes via OBD.

I've been watching his reviews for years now, and I concur; he goes the extra mile to get the salient points covered.

Only coding I've seen regarding DRL's is to add rear (Scandinavian) or enable the menu option to switch them on/off in the menu. The only coding I've seen available for parking lights is to enable them on both sides. And I've looked at quite a bot of coding / adaptions surrounding lights, so my guess would be no, it is not possible. Happy to be proved wrong of course

I've seen threads on this forum about leaking sunroofs/drain holes etc. but I assume this does not apply to the fixed panoramic roof? Am I right in thinking that karoq panoramic roofs are now fixed?

It’s difficult to say exactly as they were on the car when I got it. The history folder has 2 tyres fitted in June 2024 which I think were the front, but couldn’t say for sure as the rear are also Turanza T005 If they were the the fronts which I’ve just replaced, then I would have got 31.5K miles out of them. Personally, I’ve done around 23K miles on them.

Judging by previous comments factors to consider are: avoid 19 inch rims - (17 & 18 apparently give a better ride), 45 profile All Season tyres improve the ride, 4x4 multi link rear suspension gives a better ride than the 2wd torsion beam rear suspension. Whether you need DCC I don’t know - everyone has different comfort thresholds, lots of test drives required.

I have had this same issue for a couple of months. Car was in Edinburgh dealer last week and asked them to look at it before the warranty runs out next week. They kept it for whole day and then told me they need more time to look at it so needs to go back another day. Not sure if they just didn’t allocate enough time or whether they just don’t know how to fix it.

Thank you so much. Held the power button for 30 seconds, powered off (so no radio, no touch clicks. Then came back but no screen. Garage (some 20 miles away) suggested powering the car down. Disconnected 12v battery this morning, left for six hours. Reconnected (with garage on phone as I was worried everything would need resetting). Started up, screen came on. No issues, theory is it got stuck in an update, and this resets to previous version. Don't know what happens when it next updates...
