  1. Here´s my new to me 2019 Superb 2,0TDI 190 4x4 DSG in Black Magic pearl with beige ventilated leather seats!
  2. Continues to be a work-in-progress-project, but pretty happy about the exterior of my 2016 ŠKODA Superb 280. Lowered on H&R suspension, BBS 20” CH-R2s, sportline look with black mirrors, window trim and front chrome parts replaced, sporty honeycomb grill, logos colored, etc...

Photo bombed by the local site cat.
  4. Think its the new asthong martin 🥴😁. I know ille close the door on my way out
  5. Another black against grey, this time Moonstone Grey on my Passat: I think black wheels depend on the design as to whether they work or not...
  6. Camera in the mirror is the High Beam Assist Camera the little plastic bit is for the auto dimming mirror, sensors glued to the screen are for rain, light and humidity.
  7. better late than never ?????? Am about to join the Yeti brigade - Have looked at and tried, several times, both a Kamiq, and Mazda CX3 - but neither did it for me on enough of the fundamentals of driving- So have now 'reserved' a 2016 Yeti 1.2TSI SE with 23k on the clock - test drive in a couple of days time - so have digits crossed..

Very nice. 👍👍 But I would say that. 😎
  9. Their speaketh someone who I have no doubt has his oil changes done by a garage who I have even more certainty will have never removed an undertray and drained the oil from the plug, wont stop them invoicing a new plug each time because they claim that the 20mm fine pitch threads stretch when the bolt is tightened into aluminium. Your reflection on others applys equally to yourself. I recommend everyone removes their undertray and does a manual oil change at least once even if they have a suction rig because the likelyhood is that it has never been removed before & the rear bolts will be seized, if you manage to extract them you can use anti-seize compound on them. The one on my Octavia had never been off in 12 years and 122000 miles and the sump plug had never ever been removed. Anyone who has ever done their own oil changes would not question the wisdom or mock others who use a suction rig and I speak as someone who spent 48 uneccessary years on their back doing oil changes.
  10. I'd rather deal with the stone chips than look like a tit. 🤣
  11. I have finally decided to upgrade my trusty Columbus head unit in my Estate to a HU that supports Android Auto and a larger screen. I've ordered up a AudoTechDirect W8128 running Android 10, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, WiFi etc. I do have the upgraded sound system and will be doing the half hour battery removal to set the amp to switch on and off with the key. I shall be getting pictures tomorrow when I install it all
  12. So I got my Octavia SE-L First Edition 2.0 150 HP TDI estate today. It came a lot quicker than anticipated (about two weeks I bought one that was already pre specced and being built but the dealer thought it would be a month to six weeks). I previously had a 105 HP Mk III facelift DSG hatchback and before that a similar original MK III hatchback. I have only had a chance to drive it 20 miles so far as yesterday it was horrible howling with rain and I had other things to do as well but here are my first impressions. Whilst I would have bought a 105HP version if there had been one in the new line up as I had been satisfied with that engine in my previous Octavias the 150HP engine is definitely nicer from an acceleration point of view. Not blistering obviously (ah fond memories of my old Saab 9-5 Aero with 250HP on tap, that was fast) but definitely a more willing power plant. Should be much better for overtaking on motorways. It also seems quieter, in fact the cabin is quieter altogether I'm not sure if its just better sound proofing or a general improvement in aerodynamics that's reducing wind noise. New DSG switch thing instead of a normal gear stick took only a few seconds to get used to. It definitely frees up space. I didn't really use the old version much to change gear just let the autobox do its thing but I gave the flappy paddles a go in the new one and they are better than doing it the old way. Might be fun for occasional "spirited driving" but that's not really what you buy this kind of car for. The sound system sounds better than the old one at first listen. Haven't played with the adjustments yet but listening to DAB radio I tried speech (radio 4 ) and some music and it definitely sounded better. I have heard a lot better in some cars but this is fine. The new seats are great. Very comfy but will need a long trip to properly evaluate. The electrically operated drivers seat is easy to use and set the memory on. Rear view camera with overlay of where the car is going is well implemented especially if like me you're a bit rubbish at reversing. The HuD is brilliant all cars should have it. I just had it on default settings but having the speed floating in front of you is excellent. Its sharp and non distracting. The virtual cockpit is OK. I like that you can have the nav instead of the dials. Also the dials are clearer than on the MK III facelift which were a bit rubbish in daytime mode (fine on a night though) who thought whit numerals on a white background was a good idea ! I need to play with this and get it setup how I like it. The new nav/infotainment system is a lot more complex than the old one. Its big and its clear and very customizable. |Feels like it will be good but its one of those thing that needs living with and using a lot before a verdict can be reached. Lack of manual switches for heating etc. I though this would be more annoying than it is. I tend to just set the cabin temp and leave it at that so you might feel different. There are enough manual buttons below the screen fro the important stuff such as defogging the windows so n first impressions I think its going to be fine. I use the steering column mounted controls for stereo volume anyway. Speaking of buttons and switches the ones under the infotainment system mentioned do feel a tad plasticy and cheap. Skoda could have done a better job with these. All the other ones elsewhere seem good. The shiny fake chrome door furniture definitely does produce flashes out of the corner of your eye even on a dull day like yesterday. This may get annoying, lets see. The rest of the materials on the inside seem a bit of s step up from the previous model. I hope they wear as well. Other than that its like every other Octavia I have driven or been in. Its not a luxury car but a sensible one and well specced for it price and in general thoughtfully laid out, easy to use and comfy with an enormous boot. The new exterior styling make sit look smart as well.
  13. Hopefully the MkIV Octavia too... Thank's but I don't think it does - will check to be sure tomorrow. This picture clearly shows 2 lights on the control - mine just has the re-circ car symbol which lights up when button is pressed.
  14. But not while watching where they are driving, as old as I am and as bad as my vision is after the recent bodged operation I can operate all of the essential controls on my vehicle by feel without taking my eyes from the road. Its taken 90 years of study of ergonomics and continous improvement to get to that situation and its all been thrown away in a few short years.
  15. One detail: Are you just browsing a PDF on your phone? If that's the case I agree it's a PITA to view and organize content as desired. However, if you download the "MySkoda" app and add your VIN, it downloads the manual for your car (and it will always be the latest version without worrying about the dealer ordering it etc.) but even more important the content is well arranged for phone viewing, with a very well working Search function plus a Bookmark feature to save the content you use often or like to re-read. On a medium-sized phone with a good screen it's a breeze to use, 10x faster and more efficient than getting a manual out and trying to search for "view" for example. Even though my manual seems written ok, (Superb MY2019) I have left it at home permanently and have found everything I ever needed via that app.
  16. I've heard of snake oil, but never bear oil?
  17. Alloy LCR/TT arms are slotted, standard pressed arms are not.
  18. Ahhh. This seems similar to most over EVs. The only other answer marques seem to adopt is the useable and chargeable zone is actually to 90 or 95% of true battery capacity. Think they should give us users more credit ie the last 5 or 10 % is like the expansion volume on a liquid hydrocarbon tank.

Hello all, This weekend saw the sale of my mk5 golf GTi after a very enjoyable 3 years ownership. The best car I've owned by a long shot (and I've owned plenty), and not just because it didn't depreciate at all! It only took me a day to replace it with another VAG 2.0 TSI engine though, and I'm now the proud owner of a mk3 Octavia VRS estate. So far I'm loving the combination of a punchy 2 litre engine in a big comfortable estate with enough space to take the wife, baby, dog and all their many many belongings on holiday (which I will be doing at the end of October). Thanks for the welcome to the forums, I'm sure they will be a useful library of advice for the years ahead with my Skoda. Cheers, Pigman

    Many thanks will do that
  21. @Manc-Fletch The Queensferry Crossing operators are not going to know the speed limit and when it is the 70 mph or they are putting a restricted speed on. PS Forth Bridge /rail. Then the Forth Road bridge. New Bridge is the 'Queensferry Crossing' There used to be a ferry crossing. Trust Scotland to make things silly by the names.
  22. It gave Renault an extra point, now they are in 6th place and only 205 points behind Mercedes in the constructors championship.
  23. Lucky they're not letting fans in at Monza. The way Ferrari are going, none would have turned up anyway😀
  24. I picked up a sunnto spartan ultra for less than half price last year in black friday deals. I replaced the chest band tracker with a wahoo forearm. In a way I'd prefer a wrist sensor on the watch, but it's already a beast. And if I'm out in rain, using the route/gps, I wear it over my jacket cuff... The trade of like now, sat on my desk bike is I'm turning, but not logging. I did 30km yesterday morning admin session, for 300cal's apparently according to the onboard lcd. It didn't feel like either. Under armour is like audi is to skoda... it's overpriced. checkout: https://alpkit.com/collections/mens-legwear/products/koulin-trail-tights-mens && https://alpkit.com/collections/mens-merino-clothing for the chilly days.
  25. Wow nearly 2 years since i last updated this.. ALOT has happened. Will start to update again. 😀
  26. I have one which I use when travelling Interstate and sometimes in the Country. Our roads in Australia are not that good. I also have PPF applied over the entire front, but I've still got some stone marks on the Film. The only reason I went PPF was due to no one in Australia interested in making the full front Car Bra.
  27. so, i got to leave for my run at about 21:25hrs. gone cold and dark. also, due to the storms during the week and increased flood risk the LA had put up a few of the lower land flood barriers blocking all access to my usual route. but equally the route i went instead is well street lit where the river side "Blue Way" is... not. i have to google map it to see, as i ran to the same rough geographic location ust on road instead of by the river, but it may have been a tad longer by road. anyway. . my time was. .. 26m 50sec. not quite meaningless, as this will likely become my winter route now. bp 2mins post run was about 120 according to a cheap app i downloaded. not sure what it was at peaks, didnt check. i think a thread to find a good fitbit may be needed. also need to get some decent under armour or something i think for the winter, it was a lot colder than it has been since i started running in july, but... still sweaty even though my skin was cold. we shall do some googling for the winter running. interestingly, 1hr post run - after some food and a shower im at 95bpm.
  28. I do not agree that the certification process and the testing regime give any assurance that a tyre can run safely continously at its maximum speed and load, they do attest that it will be safe for 10 minutes under those conditions. If you can find any vehicle that has a maximum speed of 118mph that is homologated with T rated tyres & not H rated then it would be convincing but if there were one and you looked at the maximum axle weight you will probably find that it would be well under the load rating. I dont think that I have ever had a vehicle that didnt have tyres rated well above its maximum speed, I was surprised to see that my Yeti with its supposed 108mph top speed was homologated with only T rated tyres but I bet it was fitted with H or V rated tyres from new like it currently wears. In fact i am pretty sure that the sticker on the fuel filler flap specifys H & V rated tyres, too late & dark to go looking now. But for having to reregister my car in France & needing a CoC I would never have known what tyres were homologated.

So just to point out why the gu10 versions with no cover are dodgy.... There were batches where the high voltage was on the same pcb, with either HV or a chip that did the voltage conversion exposed to fingers. Others where the voltage was done on 5v drop to different segments and touching the wrong parts would give you a high voltage difference. Yes none of them should have been sold or made that way, but unlike real shops some of the online markets seem to not check what they sell etc.
  30. Don’t worry about it. Just let the charger get on with it. It’s not going to do any harm at all being a Ctek. There’s no electronics in a starter battery so you aren’t going to damage it by picking the wrong charging program once in a while for a quick top up charge. An occasional recharge esp on low mileage cars helps the battery stay at peak performance and allows stop start to operate more frequently - a good sign in itself that the battery is hunky dory.
  31. A photo I took of the inside of mine when I arrived home, thanks to John!
  32. I think the unique appeal of the Yeti is summed up by the continued activity in this Forum 3 years after the Yeti was axed. I have watched other forums for similar vehicles and there is less activity on them even though the cars are relatively new and in production. Must mean something!
  33. Might aswell protect the rear aswell 👍
  34. Thinking of fitting an Ex Jordan one to the front of my Black Superb but not sure pink goes with black so may attach it to the rear bumper and use it as a parachute instead.💨
  35. Don't forget nipples they have feelings too.
  36. No no no no no 😂
  37. Not got one and have always thought they looks absolutely stupid and ridiculous on anything other than a massive American 4x4
  38. If you only have high beam assist, it's probably a lowline. If you have either lane assist or traffic sign recognition, it's a highline. Typically the following is true: - A lowline (20) camera is built into the rear view mirror base. - A highline (A5) camera is stuck directly to the windscreen and have a triangular cutout to 'see' through. Example lowline: Example highline:
  39. Dyno day at sitech racing so stuck it on today 324bhp at the fly, bit smokey on the meth this time 😅 did leave its mark graph in whp deffo had a few dyno sessions over the years Crail tomorrow for the fast ford day hopefully planning to upset some st owners.
  40. I used to be queasy about black wheels but it’s pretty standard and works so well against the black pack details making the car look harmonised. I don’t think you can go wrong with straight lack on this colour as it’s a lovely contrast. Worse case scenario is you try and then change colour again. I think you will like the black once you see it in the flesh.
  41. The photos were 20+mb so another photo from yesterday, quite a lot of localised flooding as this quiet stream turned into a raging torrent very quickly.

    That looks tidy
  43. This is probably one of my favourite shots taken so far! A quick visit to Swanage to pass the time, walking along the beach and saw this lone Sandcastle standing tall despite the incoming tide and rough sea
  44. Mine. I have it 5 months now, the first 3 we were in lockdown and it didn't move much!
  45. sooner fit a wooden wheel as a spare than use a can o' gunk. There's no guarantee of sealing it and it's a once only affair
  46. Ok folks Went to the dealer today. They found out that the DRL lost connection for a split of a second and hence the above issue. Anyways they reported this to Skoda directly. Also, I have had some Skoda Connectivity issues. It turns out the issue is in the entire VAG brand. They have tested the same on a brand spanking new VW Golf Mk8 which is in the dealership as a demo vehicle and they had the same connectivity issues. So this has been reported back to Wolfsburg as well. These small gremlins are throughout the lineup. I would expect the same issues in the Seat as well. On the bright side, they are very very supportive (the dealership) here in Macedonia. They are always available, they are calling me if everything is fine and apologizing for the minor inconveniences. Which is surprising in this part of the World :)) but Skoda is the number 1 brand here together with KIA so, they have to be considerate.
  47. Any. On a standard car I don't think you will pick a difference.
  48. Did retrofitted them today, also took the opportunity to replace the puddle lights by LED ones. In terms of ease of installation, a breeze with the left one. A little bit more difficult with the right one. The effect is much better for real than on the phone recorded movie (because of the phone camera sampling rate). It really makes a big difference. A very short clip so you can have a feel. Thus happy to confirm it also fits the S2 FL 2020-06-25..mp4
