  1. OT but if talking Pizza'a they were on the Channel 4 programme Food Unwrapped this week. It should be repeated or available on catch up. They were in a Pizza Factory in Scotland which manufacture Pizza's for the Chilled Cabinets and also Frozen Pizzas. Same bases and toppings. Difference in the MRRP is they are more expensive in the Chiller Cabinet because of the self life and more waste than those that are in the freezer. Full Main Dealer Servicing could be worth the Extra Expense if you could trust that Servicing and maintenance was carried out as required competently and you were being treated with honesty on the advice given on requirements. Sadly Full Main Dealer Servicing Histories often just show how little gets done. Anyone that has to make a Warranty Claim on Paint or Corrosion then get told that body inspections were not done yet they have FMDSH on the car then know that the Employees were not doing part of the job that was being paid for.
  2. Your cars will have Gen 4 Haldex which do have a replaceable filter element. Skoda do not recognise this filter on their system hence it never gets replaced. They do not remove the pump to clean the strainer either so really it is half a service that they do. See this link and it will give you a load of useful information and you can also see the replaceable filter element... https://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk/guide-generation-4-haldex-trouble-shooting/
  3. It should be easy enough with a multimeter and following some cables to components. Just leave the airbag and yellow connector well alone, you know that fits already. Work on the basis that for the Audi seat: yellow airbag, black occupancy sensor, red is power motors (you don't have) plus footwell light, green is seat heating. Trace back (or put 12v across the contacts) the 2x wires in the red connector to confirm footwell light, and trace the light in your Skoda seat back to the large connector block. It'll be a pair of the narrower gauge cables. Black occupancy sensor has two cables in both Skoda and Audi, just using different connector blocks. It's a make/break circuit depending on whether the seat is occupied so the order probably doesn't matter, but I'd go for yellow<->yellow/green being equivalent You are left with four wires in the green block to match up with four remaining cables in the large black Skoda block. You will have a pair of heavier duty cables (brown & purple in the Skoda block and looks to be brown stripe and purple stripe in the Audi seat?) that will almost certainly be 12V supply and Earth for the heat mat, use your multimeter on the car loom to work out which is which. Two narrower gauge cables left that will be trigger wires for turning on/setting or sensing heat level. I'd do some research on wire colours for both the Skoda and the Audi examples you have before gambling with these, ETKA online should have the necessary wiring diagrams.
  4. @silver1011 you were right ! I now own a Kodiaq, SE-L spec, I drove home in the dark last night, those LED headlights are fantastic, i like the cornering lights too, i also love the seats, the alcantara means you dont move around much/at all i love it, the auto hold is amazing too
  5. If I could get an Asda Create you Own pizza delivered to my door I'd have that. I prefer them. Quite similarly, you're paying for the non tangible convenience and dealer stamp in a dealer service, not anything actually better.
  6. You may find your question in the workshop manuals, that you can download from cardiagn.com. There's a whole workshop manual for brakes.
  7. Step 1. Install the free VW Pre Compiled Database located on the download section of this site to your PC: https://free-speed-cam-updates.web2diz.net/ Step 2. Unzip/extract the files on your PC and copy the contents of the resulting folder onto a SD card. ( Important points to note: Only copy the contents of the main folder i.e. Do not copy the resulting extracted folder named Volkswagen PersonalPOI - just copy the contents that are displayed inside that folder which is a folder named PersonalPOI and a metainfo2.txt file. Delete the readme.txt file as well as that is unnecessary. Also further note that despite trying to use 2 different usb sticks unsuccessfully only an sd card would work for me. I used the sd card which contains my music files but remember to delete the copied files off afterwards as sometimes they may prevent your music from playing and they are no longer required as they have been copied to the internal memory of the Amundsen ). Step 3. Using the "manage memory option" of the nav settings upgrade the software. Step 4. In the "map" settings chose poi categories, scroll to the bottom and the newly added items should be displayed there. Tick these to activate them. Step 5. In the "nav announcement" settings of the nav settings make sure that there is a tick in the "My POI" item. This enables an audible speedcam alert. To sum up - it's pretty easy to do and it's free and there are monthly updates on the site. On the downside - I'm not sure how reliable and up to date the database is as I've already had to manually edit and remove an out of date camera from my location. IMO the audible alert is a bit feeble and can't be changed but it's better than nothing. I'm not too fussed on the camera icons either. I hope this post is of help to others and I would like to thank the contributors of the other threads regarding this topic on this forum from whom I have gained my insight. I have compiled my own version with my preferred choice of speedcam icons limited to UK fixed cameras and traffic light cameras using the VW database on the above site which I've attached below to share if anyone wants them. Remember to only copy the files as per the above instructions. My Uk Speedcams.zip
  8. Just upgraded from OEM DMF (12,68kg) clutch kit to performance light SMF (7,2kg) clutch kit. It was a must after 85.000km under APR stage 1 (316HP & 516Nm). Tested...and I love it! Numbering advantages wold take time, more of it in detail soon. For the time being, let me mention the only downside, literally: I need to rev engine just a little bit higher, in order to start smoothly. Let's say 1.200rpm - 1.500rpm. Yes, somewhere outside town in quiet winter landscape discreet shatter can be heard: From the outside in neutral. Barely from the inside only when pressing gas pedal in neutral within 750rpm to 1.000 rpm range, beyond that and while in idle: nothing. In total. I feel like I am driving another, much better car. Looking forward hearing about your experience with OEM DMF vs after market Light SMF.
  9. My replacement car was delivered Monday and has now done all of 70 miles. At a high level it is essentially the same as the car it replaced - a 2.0 tdi 150 Manual hatch SEL but this one has hill start assist that I didn't spec on the last one. I is even the same colour. Differences: As expected Amundsen instead of Columbus, slightly smaller screen but has wifi which I think is new on Amundsen(I never used it on the Columbus) but doesn't have the HDD (which I never used). It doesn't have a CD drive which the last one did (I never used it). It does have two USB ports so I can plug the ipod in and one of the i-phones. Need some time to play to find my way around apple play. It has the side assist warning - not expected It has KESSY which I would rather not have although it does allow me to close the boot from the fob. It doesn't appear to have the adaptive lights which were on the spec list in January but are not even mentioned in the brochure now. It has leather instead of alcantara - from my point of view a step down. It has rear vehicle assist to detect approaching cars when reversing It has front and rear parking sensors - the last one was rear only. It also gives an overhead picture on the infotainment screen. Fancy LED lights and chrome trim on the boot but I don't see them from the driving seat. I don't like the wide white/pale grey rim to the dials, it makes it harder to read the numbers but I will get used to where the common speeds are on the dial. It has adblue and is saying Range is 12,500 so at that rate it will need filling once a year! There is only one umbrella - as expected. Drives just the same as you would expect but needs running in which in current circumstances will take me a year! Will add to this if I find any more differences
  10. Actually I just noticed your Edit, I did it online on Thursday so hopefully it will be shorter then! Ill either need to wait for it or the car to come up anyway just hopefully not drag out!

Same thing happened to me but replaced under warranty without any problems
  12. Had a faint boing, boing, boing, in my car a while ago, could not find the cause until I disconnected it was the dashcam (Viofo) a reformat and reset did it. Boing gone.

We had the same issue on the DSG lever, it is a known issue and it was replaced under warranty. Took a bit of convincing though!
  14. Is there anything left of your car that's standard fit? 😆
  15. Mirror dip won't possible with recoding on any 2020 models. Facelift don't have 2 rear fog lights. This are a differend unit/wiring
  16. The sticky here is for PFL only, it’s not been updated for FL. Mirror drop will never work without a memory mirror so don’t bother with that unless you have a 7 pin memory motor which was never standard without electric seats. Dual rear fog coding is the same as PFL and will work unless you are double unlucky and you have a cluster that doesn’t have the LED strip installed. Cornering lights for FL non vRS are as follows Alarm chirp is as follows 1 - Module 09 - Electronic. Code (31347) 2 - Adaptation 3 - Signs response 4 - Sub - Akustische rueckmeldungentriegeln --- On 5 - Sub - Akustische rueckmeldungverriegeln --- On 6 - Sub - Global rueckmeldung --- On Akustische 7 - Sub - Akustische rueckmeldungSignalhorn --- On 8 - Sub - Menuesteuerung Akustischerueckmeldung --- On (On Screen Display) 9 - Sub - Dauer der vom akustischenrueckmeldung einfachhorn --- Normal (No alarm) or Kurz (with alarm)

Skoda press release states it is to celebrate the launch of the first purpose built EV (Citigo IV based on ICE car). There will be 1895 founders editions built IIRC, to reflect the year that Skoda was founded. I also think this is a marketing ploy to attract Tesla wannabees, as when a new model is launched by them they always seem to have a Founders Edition.
  18. I find its a culmination of lots of small things that make an experience more enjoyable. Sure, the lower spec Kodiaq's are better value and perform their role equally as well, but if you're spending £20,000 plus on a car then for me it makes sense to spend a little more and get all the little features you want. I bought on price alone before (Skoda Superb) and spent the next 8 years and 180,000 miles with a small amount of regret in the back of my mind. Not this time!
  19. At the back of the centre console, facing the rear seats is a 12V socket. The new wheel has a good tactile feel. The palm/finger swell is comfortable and the perforations make string-backed gloves unnecessary. The heated wheel function gets my wife's enthusiastic approval. Overall build quality of the car is good. It feels well put together and the surfaces that one can touch while sitting are in the main fair soft-ish quality. Ours has the seemingly *standard* feature for a Karoq with the powered tailgate; the door doesn't quite sit flush with the side panels at the bottom near the bumper. I am sure this is a matter of adjustment at the first service, or beforehand if it annoys me that much in the meantime. Having moved from a late '17 Octava with the same engine, we know what MPG it should be capable of. What we like is that in the Karoq the engine noise is even more subdued than it was in the Octavia. There is also noticeably less engine vibration intruding into the cabin. In any gear it is creamy smooth.
  20. Photos of steering wheel and USB C ports, memory stick and iPhone lead inserted.
  21. Not sure when you would actually need to use this button as it all seems to work automatically to me?
  22. On price, I agree. Even if I have Dominos at half price I still think it is expensive for what it is. But there is something about it which is good. As with any food there is an element of personal preference and subjectivity but personally I really enjoy a dominos as an occasional treat and supermarket pizza doesn't provide the same level of satisfaction. Each to their own. I'm not sure the pizza metaphor really works either unless you know of some crazy cheap independent. I'd love to know where I could get a supermarket pizza price service for my car instead of a dominos price, but be done to the same dominos standard in ingredients and work. My local VAG independent charges £100 per hour Inc vat labour and my VRS takes nearly 6 litres of oil. I haven't found any decent independent VW specialist garage that will do a service significantly cheaper than a dealer to make it worthwhile. I think I paid £120 for my last main dealer oil change earlier this year. It's not like an independent is going to charge me half of that given the labour rate + materials and vat.

First ground up electric car? I’ll shoe horn my point in here somehow
  24. Domino's has to be the most overrated and over priced of any takeaway. A kebab shop pizza is still half the price of Dominos and you get burger sauce (win win). As for shop bought pizza there are plenty of options that come close for me at near 10% the price of Dominos. What I'm basically saying is you are paying for the name, not the product or service. Much like the dealership service over a local service. The burger sauce has no place in this metaphor... I just bloody love the stuff.
  25. To do the switch neatly You'll be wanting to get connector block 8E0 972 710 to fit to your Audi seat to the Skoda loom. If the Audi cables have the wrong terminals, it looks like this connector block uses very common JPT and JT terminals (if this picture from Aliexpress is anything to go by).
  26. +1 for Osram although buy from reputable company as I've heard there are fakes about and its hard to tell them apart apparently.
  27. I will send you later the wiring.

It really beggars beliefs that Skoda had not done the sums to make a profit, but I guess senior bean counters higher up squashed it to allow other parts of group to make more money for the group. I will keep eye open for what other choices we have. Thanks Root for posting those 3 choices.
  29. I agree. Ford Tourneo Courier has considerable appeal but it's only available with diesel engine and manual gearbox, and the rear seats do not unclip. My pattern of use would kill a diesel engine. Berlingo/Rifter/Combo appeal but auto gearbox was not available with petrol engine last time I looked. And my experience with an early Berlingo was enough to put me off Citroen/PSA vehicles for life. NV200 had considerable appeal but again, it was only available with diesel engine. (Latest NV200s are EV only, and something I might consider in the future). I found the only vehicle that came close to the short, spacious Roomster was the Yeti - which is why I bagged a 1.2tsi DSG before it went out of production. While I love my Yeti, I consider my Roomster Scout by some margin the best vehicle I have ever owned... and probably ever will own. Irreplaceable even?
  30. There is no direct replacement for the short, spacious roomster Possibly the Ford Tourneo Courier, but not same size (not the similar named tourneo connect, which may cause confusion) The Peugeot Rifter appears or Citroen Berlingo seem to be a possible alternative. Nothing in VW Group. Size wise the Nissan NV200 could just about be there, but again not as cheap as a Roomster. These days replacement choice is very limited

Note the starting price / RRP. It was nice and is nice when people have choices.

Well, The Citigo EV dream of all dedicated Brit Pensioners out there has gone T*TS UP! Just 400 been sold in UK and that's it - the dream is over. Supply has been chopped by VW because they're not making any profit out of it (they tell us). Personally, if I was in the market for an ultra small EV (which I'm not), I'd go for the Renault Zoe. It's a lot more stylish than the Citigo and has greater range between charges. So that's it! The months of anticipation & joy of strutting down the Skoda Dealership with the contents of your Piggy Bank bulging your pockets, hoping to be driving away in a sparkling new Citigo EV have now gone up in smoke! Thank VW for destroying your dream.
  33. This is probably not what you’d want to hear but for context I’m trading in my 2010 diesel 2L (mk2 superb CR140SE well specced) on Monday with 87k miles for £2750 (autotrader valued it between 2600 trade and 3600 private) so is it really economical to consider spending that kind of amount on a 2011 car with similar mileage? i got hit with the clutch/gearbox failure at 56k miles a few years back that cost me £2000 and I seriously considered dumping the car at that point but couldn’t as I still had a loan outstanding at that point and the mileage was still reasonable but if it had happened now I don’t know if I could’ve justified that cost let alone the costs you are looking at. Just playing devils advocate here....
  34. Did you get this fixed or just continued to use the one working fob? Got 3 keys with the car, none of the fobs work and one of the keys I dont think is for my car as it doesn't open the door or turn the ignition In scotland but much further north 😂😂
  35. Had good experiences with silicone lubricant before (use WD-40 branded one) - usually silences most bushing noises (and belts), just doesn't last much more than a month or so. The other option is go for (and have in the cupboard) is lithium grease. Might have a go at the weekend.
  36. The whole debate here about dealer servicing vs local servicing just makes me think of one thing... Domino's Pizza vs Supermarket Pizza... Massive price difference, very little difference to what you are actually paying for.
  37. Thanks all I am in the fortunate position to own 2 virtually identical cars, so I swooped out the unit that worked and mixed and matched parts with the bust unit. As it is the more expensive climate conmtrol I wanted to know if it was the fan or the controller that was bust - it was the fan. Stuck solid So I forced it round, added WD40 and - it now works!! So just answering this one myself in case anyone else has the same issue - 1- take it out (see youtube vid from 2:16 - DO NOT follow any vid that has instructions if they show you taking the whole glove compartment off - this job is as easy as changing the pollen filter) 2- see if the fan is stuck and wont go round 3- if it is the fan - add WD40 where you see the shaft 4- spin it by hand a bit - if stuck - force it - you have nothing to loose now! Hold each end - the blades should go round 5- repeat 3 and 4 6 plug it in and see what happens Should just work Worth the £100+ alternative solution
  38. Backdrop's rubbish, and I don't know why, but it's always this one that makes me smile: Gaz
  39. Could play it extra safe and take the wheels off before leaving the car unattended, no chance of it rolling anywhere then .
  40. Finally got the floor finished, I used the garage floor epoxy resin from Resincoat, two thick coats has seen it transformed. So, no excuses to get back on with the yellow one..... he says hopefully. In other news the Black daily vRS Fabia is moving onto pastures new, i'll update that thread accordingly. Cheers Matt
  41. 50.000km and counting. No issue what so ever. Would I do it again, from this prospective? Absolutely. DMF driving experience looks like bad dream. Couldn't tell if SMF affects fuel consumption by the book, but in reality it seems it does. Fuel C.4.6.mp4
  42. Door handles are very easily removed BTW
  43. 1st job.. 40mm H&R setup. No air suspension like the last Octavia i had.

Well he is fairly canny and was doing the sums so there is a payback period, I forget all the detail but it involved some battery capacity and something with an energy provider (octopus?) to take electric at night into the batteries. I need to investigate further as being paid to store energy at night off line seems like a new way of thinking to smooth out supplies. The changes we are going to see in the near future will make us all change our approach to life.
  45. Let's revive this topic with old big wheelie of mine on Gazprom fancy station. Haven't gotten tired of this car, yet.
  46. 1 point
The system was checked at the garage. They couldn't see an issue anywhere.
  47. Something car related for a change, classic car dealer in Burley taken late yesterday evening
  48. can't you just plug the mirror plug into the door controller?
