  1. Agreed. Just had mine in for an MOT and they advised me that the cambelt needed doing, again. What!?! It was done in January this year (and that was because the car was 5 years old not because of the mileage which was 50K). I advised them of that and they said "Really?". My response "Yes, I'm surprised it's not recorded somewhere". When they did do the cambelt (I had the water pump & belt done as well) they gave me the car back and when I checked the washer fluid & oil a few weeks later I discovered they'd snapped one of the two clips that holds the inlet pipe at the throttle body, thus letting unfiltered air into the engine inlet plus ruining the engine mixture. It took a number of visits to convince them to rectify this. They finally did it after the remaining clip snapped clean off at 70mph when I changed down (the DSG did) to do an overtake and the manifold pressure was too much for the remaining plastic clip. Not impressed that they broke it during the servicing and they just reassembled it hoping the owner (me) wouldn't notice. Rather than call me and say, we've had an issue, keep the loan car another day and then they could fix the issue. I wouldn't mind but they're not cheap either, so I'm paying top dollar for shoddy workmanship. At the same time they also managed to spilt the air guide hose from the air filter housing (I'm assuming they were just very rough and ready with the car when they were working on it). I didn't even bother to complain about that and sourced one from another dealership and paid for the part and fitted it myself. There's a reason they're sometimes called "Main Stealers". But's kind of Catch 22 because I get free MOTs if I get my servicing done there, although they did forget this and try to charge me. It passed and they washed it for free too. But I'm seriously considering taking it elsewhere but can't decide where. With Covid my mileage is very low so I can put the decision off for a while yet.
  2. Update. I took the car in for the oil change today Lookers, Stockport), the lady on reception took the key and asked how many miles are on it. I told her 480 and she said "is that all"? When I confirmed it she said "it shouldn't need an oil change yet, let me check". When she came back she told me that the system should have been reset before I collected the car and no service or oil change is required, gave me the key and wished me a merry xmas. I learnt something today!! Thanks again for all comments.

I'm sure that quite a few people would appreciate your experiences with the new car.

5+hrs since all done.. still no pain medication. im kinda walking from the knee just to minimise shuffling at hip level and taking it slow standing and sitting but otherwise grand.

i have my sample pot and all ready for action in a couple of months. home now, no pain meds yet, just feels like.... someone gave them a slightly excited squeeze. a very dull throb. other than that nothing to report and the 90min drive home in traffic was fine
  6. Perez confirmed for Red Bull for 2021. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/55367539
  7. A joy only maybe three people in the Kodiaq forum understand.
  8. Orded the blue one. Picking it up tomorrow. The garage agreed to sort out the cambelt and water pump (using skoda parts). They've checked the coolant reservoir and say that there is no 'mit silikan' on this one. Seems a bit strange as other 2015 octavia scouts seem to have it, but I'll check again when i pick up the car. Will book it in for a haldex full service next week and gear box oil and filter change while I'm at it. Also want a tow bar fitted. Can any one recommend a VAG specialist in Kent? Thanks for everyone's input on this thread and elsewhere. It's great to have access to a whole load of knowledge and experience from other skoda drivers.
  9. Hi. I'd save yourself the handiwork by purchasing one of these from SuperŠkoda (superskoda.com): http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-MEGA-POWER-LED-safety-door-lights-with-GHOST-light-RS-RED I can attest to them as they are super easy to install and do the same as what you're asking for without the drilling and wiring needed. I have a vRS, though, which this ghost light features its logo. Alternatively, there are these if your model supports mirror down lights: http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-MEGA-POWER-LED-mirror-downlight-KI-R
  10. It turned out to have had the oil change as well as the dsg service. Long story short after 25 years of driving fords I've got my first Skoda.
  11. Welcome. Main Dealers are nothing special really. Hit or miss who works on your car as it is anyplace. Master Tech, Tech, Apprentice, Fitter or a Mechanical Engineer. If the dealers sales person mentioned a DSG service they must know more as in where done. So just ask if there is an invoice with the car because an Independent servicing the DSG does not void a warranty if VAT registered and using the correct fluids and filter. It is not that uncommon as you will see in Briskoda where there are members that go to independents or DIY because they want to and maybe because they do not trust Skoda Main Dealerships to do much more than an Oil & Filter change, or even to do that correctly and fill to the correct level.
  12. Hi All, Today i picked up my lovely new 2021 SE in Petrol Blue and I thought I would answer all the questions I had before collection for anybody else awaiting delivery or considering an SE Yes, The car does have keyless start but no keyless entry (which is grand as I would have switched it off anyway). Skoda Connect on the SE comes with most of the gadgets IE using your phone to unlock the car, lights etc Although i haven't had time to get it activated as it seems to take an age. On a manual start/stop is absolutely fine. on an auto however I'm no fan The gearbox is rather notchy in comparison to my previous car (2017 Vauxhall Astra Sports tourer 1.4T 150ps). I did find myself struggling for first but that I'm sure is because the Astra's gear change was rather smooth. it's on par I would say with my 2 Mk3 Ford Mondeos. The ride is so much better than the Astra and it doesn't roll very much in bends The Rear seat leg room is considerably better without the Removable seats. I'm 6 foot and long in the leg and i could sit behind myself with my legs spread. https://www.skoda.co.uk/new-cars/karoq/se is as you suspected incorrect and it does NOT come with heated seats and floor matt's as standard. Although the car has the same set up as the Astra, the torque band is much more diesel like, And for a mid sized SUV it suits it down to the ground. and somehow feels quicker. The car looks reasonably low from the outside but from the inside it does feel tall. parking is a doddle due to the large mirrors and straight edge of the panels. In comparison to the 2017 1.0DSG SEL I test drove, The seats are a lot softer and After a couple hundred miles put on the car today, they're rather cosseting. Yes, It does have wireless Car play and it works fine. The single usb A port has been replaced by 2 USB C's. I purchased a USB C to lighting cable on eBay and it works like a charm. The Halogen Headlights on the Karoq are FAAAARRR better than the Halogens fitted to the Astra. I was going to change to some night breakers but I don't think I'll bother. I test drove this evening on a dark wet country lane that i would have struggled with yesterday and it was brilliant. The standard speakers and Bolero Head unit are much better that the Vauxhall variant although it does lack a little volume. First Motorway trip with cruise set at 70 exactly returned 48 mpg on it's first trip. Properly impressed by that. I was expecting Low-mid 40's but it's actually better than the astra even though it is taller and heavier. Down to low 40's on the return but that was due to Heavy rain and a heavier foot in traffic. Finally - No it wasn't a mistake its comfortable and is what I would describe as a wafter. I find myself just sitting behind rather than going for an overtake because why bother. until i went for a ride in a friends evoque last year I was anti SUV. Always been a Large Hatch (mondeo) or Estate guy but now I finally understand why so many people buy them and why the MPV market is dead. If you're on the fence just go test drive one! I hope this helps somebody who is i'm sure searching every review, forum post facebook group they can find.
  13. The pistons should be ok, it'll be the valves that are bent and not seating properly.
  14. All four-valve engines are the same, even with perfect timing the valves run very close to the piston crown, hence the cutouts.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Nothing wet is left in the car and I cant see water trapped anywhere . Its been in the dealers and they are useless. they plugged it in and said its ok....... I think there is water getting in the car and pooling under the carpets, although Ive yet to prove that theory. It must be wet in there somewhere

That is good to hear. I hope that you get a good night's sleep (spud Jr. permitting).
  17. Back to your original question. I sold my 2014 110bhp 2.0L diesel Yeti in March 2019. It had done done37K. It had been "fixed" and I saw a slight difference as a result. Higher revs to get the same performance, no real difference in mpg and initially slightly more frequent regens, As the engine learnt I don't think there was much difference. I had one false alarm with dash warning lights about a 18 months prior to sale. At 4 years old I had zinc inclusions done on the front doors under warranty without any problem. I swapped to the 1.5 petrol in an Audi A3. I've had no issues. The engine is very flexible and willing. Fuel consumption is similar to the diesel Yeti. in fact I have seen near 70mpg on a brim to brim tank filling. Yes the A3 does not have the aerodynamics of brick like the Yeti but I was not prepared for the results. I loved my Yeti but I have to admit in hindsight it now seems primitive to more modern vehicles such as the Karoq. Colin

Hi Guys, Finally got the car back and the frustration continues - all issues are still outstanding however my fault list is endorsed as below: 1. Front assist, intermittently ‘not available’. Solved by selector lever. Currently on back order – customer to be contacted on arrival of part. 2. Rear traffic assist, intermittently not available. Solved by selector lever. 3. KPH/MPH, unable to select distance/miles. Request put through to Skoda in order to resolve this issue. Awaiting response, hoping to hear before return visit. 4. High beam assist not listed in setting to select. Not fitted. 5. Lock/unlock not available. Solved by selector lever. 6. Voice control having a mind of its own and asking for clarity. Not showing fault at time of test. Customer to monitor, further investigation on return visit if issue persists. 7. Interior Ambient Light pack not there. LED interior light pack is available on the vehicle in the settings, happy to show customer on return visit. (Yes but it was the Ambient Light pack I referred to). 8. Clock displayed in top centre of dash in Skoda marketing images. Not available for this model. Marketing images may have been concept images that are not available. 9. Please ensure that Skoda connect is available as it does not appear to be able to access the internet. Displays options to purchase a plan, model should come with 12 months access. Solved by selector lever. Purchasing a plan comes when trying to turn the vehicle into its own hotspot. 10. Vibration from between screen + glovebox. Mostly when rolling/slow moving, around 10mph. Not present at time of road test. Being investigated further on return visit. So I am awaiting the arrival and fitting the the magic Selector Lever said to resolve 4 of the above issues. Interestingly I now learn that the High Beam Assist is not available without the Full Matrix LED Headlights - very disappointing. I would be very interested if any of you have the High Beam Assist without the Full Matrix LED Headlights. Hope this is of interest to other owners trying to get their faults sorted. Sorry about the formatting this site obviously doesn't like pasting in data. Cheers
  19. That's not necessarily unique to dealerships it's just more prominent and direct.
  20. just a quick update thanks to youtube ! i found the top vent pipe that comes from the top hose to the T piece with the grommet was blocked so dug it out vuala ! can now blow thru it. snag is the plastic tube off the black cap on the block is broken. so tps are sending me the bits tomorrow. so think the problem is solved so it was an air lock ! will post tomorrow when ive bled the system. fingers crossed chaps !! and thanks for the replies.
  21. I have 115 1.0 DSG Kamiq SE It's brilliantly quiet and refined with more performance than you'd expect for such a small engine. I can't honestly think of a time when I felt it needed more power (I got it to replace my UP Gti - same engine). Yes the 1.5 has more torque and is barely less fuel efficient, but it costs a lot more. The DSG gearbox does always want to be in the highest gear possible but kicks down quickly to push the Kamiq into the optimum torque band - but knock the gearbox into sport and the car really does drive down the road in a more spirited fashion (at the expense of fuel economy). IMO go for the higher spec 1.0 with DSG and save the money over the 1.5 or spend it on extra kit!
  22. Because it was a main dealer, and they're not allowed to let any car/owner leave the premises without upselling attempts!
  23. Hi Robjon and SurreyJohn for replying to my post. I am going to investigate tomorrow once I have got the lock open from the inside... There is a breakers yard not too far away from me with a Roomster, I may pay a visit if it is fairly easy to swap out a wiring loom unit. I will let you know how I get on.

Wishing you a pain free experience and a speedy recovery Mac. Gaz
  25. easier to find it in even sizes, i would go with 4AWG as its easy to manage. the MTX-TR450 has an active crossover on each channel, but you have four speakers and four tweeters. I used passive crossovers from a four channel alpine to solve the problem.

leaving shortly for it. things havnt been so smooth in 30yrs.... the chaffing will be awful by tuesday
  27. Does it warm up normally as you would expect? also you say the expansion tank seems to be pressurising. how quickly does it do this. Just thinking out loud if it seems to warm up and pressurise it may be head gasket that has gone
  28. Yes reset was done but the dealers I bought the car from is based in Norwich and I live in Manchester so the fault was with the Norwich dealer. I'm happy now and can't be bothered with chasing them, I can't travel outside my area anyway. Having Lookers sorting it for me is the only thing I can celebrate this Xmas!
  29. prices a very dependant on options and history. be wary of using MOT's to assume the cars in good shape, especially if the garage selling (assuming it's not private) has their own in house tester worth putting on if its petrol or diesel so people can advise on engine specific things to suggest or even sick the advert on or point in the direction of, as there might be people who spot things you might miss. I don't know what you look at when buying but I like to press every button and makes sure everything works even getting on the floor and having a look underneath
  30. Yes, I do not have a SIM, I was told that it's a module of somekind. I may be wrong but I kinda recall that I've read somewhere that it's located on the roof, near the mirror, where the emergency buttons are located. This is for the 2017-2018 FL model equipped with Care Connect option.
  31. The wiper motor does have a bimetallic strip type thermal trip near to the brush connections, but I would expect that to self-reset fairly quickly after the motor stops, and the stalk is put back to the off position if it were that triggering.
  32. My wifes 1.6tdi fabia was doing under 4k a year, but we had no issues with the dpf. We bought the car due to its excellant value, a Euro 5 model, with 11.5K on the clock in 6 momths from new, biut had sat on the forecourt for 7 months unsold because of this high initial mileage. We had it for about 5 years and sold it with 25k on the clock, with no issues ever, and ne warning lights to go for a run to clear the dpf. It went to York and back, about 50m return at least once a fortnight with all the other journeys short to supermarkets, etc. This was enough to keep it healthy. Your commute of 20 miles is adeal for a diesel. Just make sure you get a Euro 6 version with the adblu tank in the boot, so no issues with the fix. I had the fix done to a Greenline Yeti, and in my opinion it ruined the car. The Fabia was not done deliberately whilst we owned it, despite many leeters from Skoda trying to persuade us, and that was the same 1.6 as in the Greenline Yeti.
  33. With the 1.9 id just go with who offers the right price you are willing to pay plus any extra 'features' you want. I very much doubt there will be a bad map from any reputable firm on the PD lump. I had my 105 mapped by Storm Development as they are near me and have a reasonable reputation. I specifically asked for a smooth map to iron out the lumps and not a HP hunting setup. It was great. Much nicer to drive even though the peak HP was only increased to 135. The pull through out the rev was constant and the peak delivery was way above normal driving. Kept it like that for about 3 years and it never got boring.
  34. Correct - haven driven our Octavia vRS a couple of times down to the channel tunnel and through into the Netherlands and Belgium with boot fully loaded and four bikes on the roof I know that I wouldn’t want to dip below the Octys current 190bhp especially for a heavier Kodiak. I’m sure that a 150bhp would do the job but will it be pleasant thrashing the f””k out of it ?!

Thanks for all the advice, I never bother to swap tyres front to back as I prefer to change tyres 2 at a time rather than fork out for 4 in one go.
  36. Yeah try it when they stop working next, you're effectively 'externalising' the relay operation by linking wires, so if it's the motor at fault, it still won't work by linking wires, but if it's the relay, it probably will. The wipers won't park by linking as described, they'll just keep running for as long as the link is there. Can't be done as an 'on the road' fix though, because pulling that connector does deprive the control unit of its main earth, so do it with engine off, keys out of ignition to minimise 'system confusion'. Have a look what access is like to the unit/connector. On mk1 Fabia it's a pain to get at cos of dash undercover trim, but on 9N Polo and I seem to remember mk2 Fabia it's not as covered up? I did try it on my Polo (same wiring, same control unit as mk1 and early mk2 Fabia) this morning and it worked. I got the speeds the wrong way round, it's pin 3 to pin 4 that gives normal speed, and that would be all you'd need to try I think. I see from your intro that the car's done quite a lot of miles so it might just be the motor. Only unexpected thing on mine was that the radio came on as soon as I unplugged that connector, off again when refitted. Haven't worked that out yet.

Stick with G13 - it is backwards compatable with G12 and G12evo.

Just had my 2014 2.0tdi done under warranty, it took them 3 weeks, two heater cores and countless flushes to get rid of the crap.
  39. Pm me your reg or chassis and I'll find out which gearbox it has.
  40. I finally managed to find the right rim and the perfect tires (Continental Wintercontact TS 860) for this cold season. Had to look under many rocks in order to find it, but the research paid off. thank you for your replies. I really learn A LOT about my car (and cars in general) on this forum.
  41. A great starting point is to figure out the part number of the original springs. This can be done by looking at the coloured paint mark sequence on them, then referring to sites like 7-zap,com which 'parallel' ETKA. Can't do much without those colour mark sequences in my experience. By the way your typo conjured up a great mental picture for me, setting me up for the day with some comedy - "otters online".
  42. Wohooooo Today, they’ve arrived!
  43. Head bolts - (outside to inside) Initial 30Nm all bolts then +90 deg then +90 deg then +90 deg Conrod Bolts - 30nm + 90 deg Unsure about rocker cover, WIll check when I'm home.
  44. Yeah, i'm impressed so far. It almost makes me feel like a grown up!!
  45. Hi! Will my new Skoda Karoq 1.0 pull a caravan...?
  46. You can go all round the houses having folk mess with your infotainment system or just bite the bullet and have a dealer install it for around £150.
  47. Well, it works! The very latest, all-Europe maps* will fit on the standard Skoda 16GB card despite the note saying that it requires the 32GB one. *ECEA1 2020/2021 Unzip the download on your computer before sending to the SD Card, it's much, much quicker.
  48. What exactly do you mean by "tried to upload the new map version"? There's no upload procedure needed. All you need to do is unzip the download, copy the unzipped file to the SD card and put it in the machine.
