Only joined recently, just bought 2019 272 sportline estate, nice spec including pan roof. Having just sold my F10 M5. Quite a change coming to the Skoda ,but only good things to say so far, struggling to find issue's,seats a little bit short about worst I can say. Got to say the usable traction this time of year is better in the Superb than trying to pay down 560 horses in the BMW. Interested in the possibilities with remap, following this thread . What are the warranty implications of are there options through Skoda keeping the warranty valid.

Got to say hard to make valid comparison between M5 and the Superb, both objective and subjective, such different vehicles not just in technical spec, but in personal preference . The M5 is like a theatrical event every time you drive, don't believe the media reviews that it was designed as a Autobahn cruiser for German executives,it felt like a wild animal in any driving mode except eco which never got selected. Despite mine being Debadged it still attracted to much attention from boy racers in everything from Corsas to the usual Audi and BMW brigade. Epic car but I found myself using it only occasionally, preferring to jump in my daily..a Citroen Berlingo van that I have had for my business from new and now with 150k on the clock. Really wanted a practical estate for daily driving and particularly the longer journeys . Thought about the E class and Audi A6,spent several months comparing and having always liked the Superb as a left field choice kept coming back to the 272 sportline +,unless your a badge snob really could not see the value in the prestige German brands or anything else for that matter. The Superb just ticked all the boxes and have been really impressed so far, although only covered about 1k so far ,mixture of motorways and one trip across North Yorkshire and Lancs in the snow, great fun and the Haldex 4wd passed with flying colours, would have been still there in the M5.

To close my "turbo saga": I got a call from the main dealer on Monday. Skoda UK had called them, and offered a goodwill payment. This brought the price down to the same level as the best quote I'd had for a new, aftermarket, unit. I agreed to have the work done, but reserved my right to take it up with head office afterwards, as I feel that their offer could have been a bit more generous. Skoda UK called me back that afternoon to check that the dealer had called me. She said that that was their best offer, but I was welcome to pursue it further via the Motor Ombudsman. I collected the car this morning, and took it out for a bit of a run. All seems to be working fine. They did a pretty good job of valeting the car too. I just need to give it a few weeks, see if I still have confidence in the car. Not sure what I'd replace it with though. If I do replace it, whatever I get will have to have a decent warranty....
  4. Most people turn off the sound actuator as they sound pants. I cant understand why anyone would wantnto actually activate it.
  5. Useful E Mail addresses there Chris thanks for those. In the meantime my frustration got to such a point that I E mailed Customer Services in CZ with detail of our issues here in the UK and in particular my non replies. I have had three responses in two days...( How refreshing!!) and wanted details and copies of my correspondence and have been told it is being escalated to the next managerial level and ask me to be patient whilst it is looked into. Now we will have to see what happens but at least someone is talking to me!!!! I emphasised the point that it the big issue is not my personal replies in particular, but the whole dreadful Customer Service scenario in the UK, mine being just one example of many!!
  6. Not a software update but a coding change to the battery management module - especially as you're planning on fitting a battery with higher Ah rating. I also have a 1.4TSI and when my battery needs replacing I'm going to fit a Varta E39 Silver Dynamic AGM battery (096AGM).
  7. Coming up to 8 years from new. Only done 41k but I still have the thrill as when I bought it new. Paint is still good and the only bulb replaced was for the number plate which was an easy fix. I get the pestering texts and emails from my local dealer to attend launches and special offers for latest models. Why change a good one? Drove through six EU countries in 2019, four up with luggage without a whimper or missed beat. Know the devil you know.
  8. ...but I promise to be faithful from now! I'm back in an Octavia and I couldn't be happier. Picking this 2.0L TDI Elegance up today, in race blue with tons of extras. 84k on the clock, which is pretty reasonable for a '13 plate too. I sold my '63 vrs a year ago for a Merc c350e, after 12 years in octavias...But boy has life changed a lot (thanks covid) since then and it makes sense to step back into my comfort zone. Ive missed this forum and I look forward to chatting over on the mk3 section! Am I forgiven?
  9. Hi folks I have now completed just over 1200 miles in my vrs 245 tsi. I’m very impressed overall so far and the engine has loosened up nicely with mpg increasing to high 30s on my normal commute of a relatively short 17 mile round trip. Also pushed the car on a bit and she handles quite well for her size and weight. Brakes are good and the diff works well to aid traction. The car is a real mile muncher She goes into dealer tomorrow for some software updates which I’m hopeful will improve the somewhat clunky infotainment. I’ve been told there are some 15 different systems they need to check for updates but won’t know what’s available update wise until they plug the car in I’ve a small list of niggles for them to look and some questions namely Defective catch on sunglasses holder which won’t allow it to stay closed Worn paint on the drivers vrs kick plate after careful washing Clarification around sound actuator strange loud rattle on first cold start up of a day Overly intrusive and IMO dangerous lane assist interventions climate panel opening when activating heated steering wheel I’ll update and let you all know how I get on

Hi All, Just joined the club with my 1st Skoda, a 2008 1.9tdi Roomster; cracking car with plenty of poke and great mpg! The Roomster is in great nick with very low milage at 33K and has only driven 2k in the last 2 years, but is overdue a service - which is how google led me here. Servicing looks very straight forward, so parts are on order along with a set of ramps - questions to the forum bound to follow. All the best, Adok

I Ordered the VRS iV Estate on the 24th of December, was originally told the build week was the last week of March however that got brought all the way forward to the 8th of February. Got an email this morning to say its built and already at the Port in Europe ready for shipping so things can change with delivery times/build weeks etc
  12. I wouldn't recommend you buy a remapped ECU. It's fairly easy to get a standard ECU unlocked. After that it should be remapped on the car on a dyno so the mapper can allow for wear and tear on the engine
  13. Not yet, I’ll take a picture tomorrow. They told me they’d likely have the car the entire day
  14. I started this thread 3 years ago after delivery of my Karoq. Next week I say goodbye to it as my PCH has come to an end. I'm really sad that I had the issues I did, as there is so much to like about the car. Will I miss the car? No! Maybe my experience would have been more positive if I had had a car with a diesel engine or a later 1.5 model. The engine had it's software update but although it helped, it didn't completely sort the car. My next car is not a Skoda.Thank you to all of you for commenting on this thread over the last 3 years.

That's the problem with LED headlights. A few years ago, everyone was raving about their LED headlights, and I was thinking my Bi-Xenons had been superceded. But having now changed cars and got LEDs instead I can see that they don't generate the heat like my Bi-Xenons did... so the condensation doesn't evaporate, and the snow/ice on the glass doesn't melt off! They may now be cheaper, and more fuel efficient, but the older technology still wins for me!
  16. After a long delay the the mk4 sedan and wagon (estate) has had a limited release here in Australia with more tech and substantial price increases New Skoda Octavia: Full Australian details - carsales.com.au The RS 245 version has the expected 2.0tsi and 7 speed wet DSG option. No hybrid version and no manual (sob). The 'base' version has the old 1.4tsi engine with an 8 speed Aisin torque converter transmission. No 1.0tsi Octavia ever released here, no hybrid, and no manual (double sob). The Australian 1.4tsi/TC combination is or will be available on Karoq, the mk8 Golf and now the Octavia, and is probably an experiment to overcome resistance to the dry DSG which is blighted by a horror run a few years from incorrect lubricant spec and ongoing issues where local drivers wear out clutch packs driving them like torque converter boxes in slow traffic. Interestingly the 1.5tsi and dry dsg is available in the recently released (here) Scala and the Kamiq. Only the Kamiq 1.0tsi has a manual version. Note that Australian politics is about 10 to 15 years behind the rest of the world regarding recognition and reaction to global warming so no incentives for reduced emission. Our vehicles still only need to comply with Euro 5 standards.
  17. According to the guys at exhaustsuk, the golf r flaps are 1/4 inch bigger than the skodas
  18. I love my Skodas and have owned three Yetis and now a Karoq. I make full use of all of its features and love the versatility as well as the comfortable driving experience.
  19. Big wave from across the pond!
  20. You've redeemed yourself. Very lucky indeed!
  21. I tried to update the BIOS in my former PC in 2015 - it ended in tears, even replacing the BIOS EEPROM (it was a fairly old motherboard and the BIOS chip had leads and was in a socket!) didn't recover the motherboard, so it was new PC time.
  22. In general yes you should always apply updates promptly. BIOS updates have often given people the fear since in the old days a bad update could brick the device. It's been a long time since I've heard of that happening.
  23. See Tayna all of these Varta Start/Stop batteries are under £200 inc VAT I've used Tayna for batteries for both my previous 2 cars and been happy with their service.

I don’t have the issue i.e. sat nav displays units in miles. I checked yesterday and I have the ‘B’ revision unit code on the hardware, so as suggested earlier this does appear to be the difference.
  25. I've used AiDU Auto a few times, including for a very similar highline RVC for my MK3 Octavia which works perfectly. Fitting: Calibration:
  26. People who have problems rightly tell us about them. But people without problems don't! I've always had sunroofs on my Golf 4, Octavia, Golf Plus, Golf SV, and now my Karoq. I've never had the water leaks described above, and wouldn't be without a sunroof! Chris
  27. So had the car scanned with vcds its the differential pressure sensor thats faulty going into garage for fix tomorrow.
  28. No damage. You are right though, although it was quite a a bit of force needed.
  29. This was broadcast on BBC last night, Extreme-E rally cars. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/science-environment-55414712 More.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/motorsport/51211393
  30. Thanks, thats interesting, but i'm a bit clumsy at that sort of thing and can see the car as a burnt out wreck if I give that a try
  31. I'm interested. Could you get me a price to post please? Plymouth. I'll PM you my postcode. Not even sure I'll ever use them, but it'll give me something to do as I'm bored and what better way to kill some time than to fiddle with a car
  32. Hopefully no paint damage was caused by the screwdriver? Plastic trim removal tools may have been a less risky option?
  33. The dealers use Quantum oil it is one of the cheapest options available at £30 for 5 litres and that's even buying retail, trade price is lower.
  34. I was, but like most things it pays to ask questions first. Do your research and diligence, and then make an informed decision.

You won't get a road legal beam pattern from an LED bulb in a reflector designed for a halogen bulb, and it may result in an MOT failure.

May/June 2019 reckon I easily done over 10k Miles with them not always on though. I found my link to seller on eBay pasted below. Had to replace 1 faulty bulb and they did without question as it failed soon after fitting. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321517034780

I enquired about a vRS the other day. 19 week lead time was quoted. So yeah, sounds right.
  38. To be honest, if I can manage it, you'll have no problems. I've seen what you've done on your cars and you are way more skilled than I am. As for benefits or difference, I'm not sure there'll be any. It might be quieter on startup as the pump was a bit noisy and when I had a look inside it wasn't spinning freely. I followed Bowders guide and it was pretty straightforward. As I mentioned there were a few minor niggles but a mixture of lateral thinking and knuckle scraping sorted things out. Also, once I had destroyed the pump, I had to carry on as there was no going back.
  39. No the +ve charger lead should be connected to the battery +ve and the -ve lead connected to the earth tag on the bulkhead adjacent to the battery -ve terminal.
  40. https://www.motorreviewer.com/engine.php?engine_id=119 Hopefully that should clear things up. I understand S3 had the CDL engine from 2009 which is a TFSI EA113

Had mine tinted from B pillar back and the rear window, didn't cost anything extra. Also advised them I had the DTUK Pedal Box installed, this was on a chat box on their website, after a little delay they came back and said it was classified as an 'interior modification' and again no extra charge. I thought this was a bit odd so I printed out the chat in case at some future date the insurer tried to dismiss a claim because of it, I had written proof they were advised and it was accepted along with the tinted windows. Your choice entirely but I would certainly do some insurance comparisons, I shaved over £500 off our house cover in one go and certainly a lot more than that on our car insurances over the years. They are not loyal to you so why be loyal to them, your cost most likely goes up a bit every year, over 15 years that could be lot. I pay under £300 a year for my octy comprehensive cover from a 5* defacto insurer with high repute. We are pensioners, wife and I to drive, cars not garaged, no points, and no claims for so long I forget. Worth a few minutes time and could save you £££'s (Martin Lewis and MSE are my gods!) Was a company buyer and my wife reckons haggling is in my DNA.....
  42. Been driving my Superb 150 diesel DSG for 4 months now and don't find it anything but smooth all the time. When the engine is cold it sometimes stays in 6th gear up to say 63mph and not having paddles I have to wait until it's warm enough to change upto 7th. However when it is warm it can change into 7th from 53mph. Overall after 2,500 miles it has averaged just over 60mpg so happy with the economy. Using the Individual mode I have the default setting in Eco so that the gearbox coasts (goes into neutral to save fuel) and the steering set to Sport which I prefer. Best economy was in the milder weather last October when I managed a 27 mile commute of 78.5mpg and I think in the spring and summer then 80mpg should be possible. Overall I prefer the 7 speed DSG to previous 6 speed manual Superb's I've owned.

It's a modification. Ins co has to be told.
  44. If the update is marked as URGENT this is usually because of a security flaw that has been found. It does depend a lot on supplier, most of the machines I work with are Dell and I would say we see about 2 to 3 urgent updates per year. Working in a role that has very high security we are very hot on updates relating to security. Modern BIOS updates are much better and it is very unusual to "brick" a device and generally these can be recovered with a bit of work. John
  45. Thank you. It seems the savings are real at the moment. I'll charge almost exclusively at home and supermarkets as most trips will be within range. Doesn't look like any gotcha moments at this point. I hope so as those savings are what makes my decision to go ID.4 work financially. I had seen you posting on some Enyaq Facebook groups and here that you are looking to change. I cannot wait until its available unfortunately as the lease is done at end of March. So ID.4 instead.
  46. • 2.0 tfsi 220 • 2016 VRS hatch • 91,000 miles • Cambelt n/a uses a chain • 6 speed manual • Gearbox oil original • No major work yet, but power steering starting to make noises approaching full lock and drop links creaking slightly (I blame speed bumps and crappy potholed roads) • Original clutch and flywheel Also, having spent its last 85,000 miles as a private hire vehicle, the interior has held up much better than expected, especially when you consider all the 'great unwashed' that have sat in it!
  47. I did have some issues with "Departure time", haven't re-tested recently. The button works well and looks nice. The Webasto App also works fine. There's a yearly fee for the Webasto services, which you need to be aware of. I see you're living in Denmark, so from tax reasons (If it's a company car), I'd absolutly recommend a retrofit.
  48. My OEM battery was replaced by the stealer under warranty. They replaced Varta 68Ah with Bosch S5 77Ah. Few months later I decided to check was the car recoded after the battery change and it wasn’t. So I made the change myself with VCDS following this guide in RT wiki - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Battery_Replacement There is also a good video at the end of the page. You need to “tell” the car that there is new battery by changing the serial number, size and vendor. I used the actual S/N of the battery instead of changing 1111111’s to 1111112.. There is no vendor coding for Bosch, but since Varta and Bosch developed S5 and Silver Dynamic together, I used Varta’s symbols - VA0( they even have the same model number ). Do a short research what VCDS adaptations need to be done and write down all the required values - serial number, part number, battery size, vendor, etc and then ask anyone with a cable to do the job.
  49. I'd suggest asking them how they get round TD1 codes. I've heard the same thing that they can now avoid the ECU throwing codes from other tuners, including the guy who mapped my Golf and my Yeti but I'm not entirely convinced. https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/18508/
  50. Once again, for whoever wants them, here is my latest customised version of EU Speedcams ( July, 2020 ). They consist of EU speed cameras which I've split up into four consolidated poi categories i.e. Fixed Speedcams, Average Speedcams, Variable Speedcams and Redlight Speedcams. They come supplied with my own preferred personal choice of icons, shown below, to match each of the categories. Remember to Install them as I explained in the first post in this thread i.e. after extracting the zip file remember to place only the PersonalPOI folder and metainfo2.txt file onto your sd card ( Please Note: a usb stick will not work! ). Also, please remember to select/tick the relevant newly added poi categories and the poi audible warning alert in the menu settings after performing the update or they will not display on your map or audibly alert you. Enjoy! EU Speedcams July, 2020.zip
