  1. I fitted today the exhaust finishers I bought from Super Skoda For £49, I think they look great but I’m sure they will be those that don’t like them.
  2. Beautiful day yesterday. I hadn't realised the sheer variety of different Daffodils!
  3. They are xenon as they have the headlight washers fitted.

  5. I was young, it was the 80's, a very careless decade indeed.
  6. A few flowers seen on yesterday's exercise
  7. So I replaced (years ago) the two boot lamps and the removable LED torch with items from the Kodiaq (along with the Glovebox light). They are a higher Kelvin light (Cool White) and the two boot lamps are LED (not W5W bulbs as we have in our Superbs)... Genuine Part Numbers: LED Lamp - 8J0947409B (x3) / Connectors - 8W0971832 (x3) / Removable LED Torch - 3T0947417F9B9
  8. I'll be honest, I booked these in last year around black friday time as I was wanting some better suspension. I found the OEM setup far too high, far too unsure and when paired with H&R springs, it overcame the aesthetic issue and eliminated a tiny bit of body roll, but was still very crashy (maybe even more so than before). Added a whiteline 24mm adjustable rear ARB (for sale BTW ) and that was a huge improvement to turn in, but the ride just got to me after a while. It felt stuck in the middle - wasn't comfortable but wasn't sharp or performance orientated either. I put an order in for some B14 Bilsteins, but some reviews made me question this choice. They dropped only a bit lower than the H&R and at this height, they're maxed out and therefore the ride suffers. So I cancelled that order (with a well known garage only minutes away) and spoke to Alex at AKS tuning (3 hrs away). He convinced me that H&R monotubes were much better, they drop more, are less bouncy and are a very capable set of suspension. However they're a good few quid more than the B14. After a couple of chats with owners who have the H&R I was convinced and put an order in. While the car was on the ramps etc I thought I might as well get a set of H&R uprated roll bars (28mm front and 26mm rear) too, to match. Anyway, after a few rescheduled appts due to covid - I went over and had them all fitted. I admit I was a little apprehensive still, thinking I might have completely ruined the 'dad bus' and would be bouncing all the way home. But! I couldn't have been more wrong. Just wow, the ride is actually better than it was when it was on the OEM shocks and H&R springs. I cannot believe how much these upgrades have improved the whole car. Steering - bit heavier and much nicer feel to it. A lot more confident/connected feeling Turn in - think it's more to do with the ARB's but wow, you throw this in corners now and it does exactly what you tell it to. No disappointing understeer, rolling around in my seat, leaning on my door for support or anything like that anymore. Ride comfort - obviously it's no limousine, the car sits pretty low but the damping and the springs are matched up so I can feel that it's doing what it should. Yes, down a bumpy b road you are going to feel how firm it is, but it's not as bad than being flung around like before. On the motorway and A roads drive home, it was perfect. Feels so planted and still a compliant/comfortable drive, for sure. Grip - the car now grips much better. No crazy banging or spinning when putting your foot down. The tyres stay rooted to the ground and it's massively better Acceleration/braking - braking is improved and more surprisingly, acceleration feels much better too and a lot smoother Looks - I've had them set to have the arches sit on top of the tyre (235 35 19). there's plenty more to go, but I don't want to rip my mudflaps or expensive splitter off! I've since taken the wheels off and coated the bodies and springs in ACF50 - to keep away the corrosion from UK rain, winters and road salt. So, would I recommend them? Absolutely 100%. They're expensive but for me, on a car of this age it's still a small fraction of the cost of the car (man maths) so it's not bad at all! If you're going to be fully loading your car with kids and luggage, maybe not such a good idea. But for folk who want their car to perform as it (really) should, then do it. It's so much more fun.
  9. Anybody looking for these blades just paid £14.84 for a pair fronts on ebay, there is 20% off until 28th March with partsinmotion, just add PICKSAVE20 at checkout..
  10. This can be reveresed if you go to a reputable VAG specialist or plan on having the car mapped at any point. There have been mixed reviews of the update, some report no change in performance, others say it has reduced performance and economy. It is a tough one but it wouldn't put me off from buying.
  11. OBD is only powertrain diagnostic, dont even see modules like airbag, media, central electronic...only engine and SOME ABS,AUTOTRANSMISION.. thats all for 20$ diag.device Airbag ecu is always in midle od the car...DONT search for it BEFORE you have diagnostic report for it...even IF its broken there will be reported as internal fault or similar description..so diagnostic first
  12. Thanks for the steer @john999boy. Downloaded off the VW site which was twice as fast and now all installed.
  13. We currently on rebuilding my fabia mk1 vrs and looking for info on upgrading the brakes as we will be running about 320bhp I've been looking at porche boxster brakes I know we have to put a conversion kit to allow the fabia to take these brakes. However I've also been looking at seat leon cupra R 4 pot brakes would these also need a fitting kit?and if so where could I find it? Any help welcome Thank you all.
  14. Only one year with mine and a very different year at that, other than the jobs I did when I got it, the replacement of the airbags, dashboard etc, discs & backplates due to corrosion where standing in salvage yard, nothing has gone wrong & its been a very enjoyable drive. The economy will never be what the Octavias gave with the frontal area and 4wd but its better than it was sith the throttle venturi & butterfly declagged & the EGR stopped. Biggest change has been the remap from 108hp to allegedly 184hp, overtaking is now a reasonably safe proposition, I miss the space of the Octavias especially as they carry a full sized spare wheel beneath the variofloor and not taking up its volume. I would not give up the driving position and shorter length to return though. I am amazed at how much better the drive is consdering almost everything is the same components.
  15. You’re really limiting your audience by keeping the mods. Return it to as standard as possible IMO.
  16. Had this when i got my Octavia, turned out i was not pushing the pump nozzle in hard enough. Mines really tight, you really have to be firm pushing it in.
  17. I reused the bolts for the oil filter housing, just new gasket. No coolant or oil leaks at all. You will need an M10 male spline drive and an 8mm allen if you're changing the coolant pipe.
  18. Zarco just smashed the motoGP top speed record by nearly 4 mph, hitting 225.5mph in FP4 at Qatar.
  19. Is it that Merc have stood still and Red Bull have gained pace? Or have Merc lost pace and Red Bull stood still?
  20. Q3. Merc beaten fair and square. This could be an exciting year.

Finally finished with beautifying my Karoq. In total I have now... painted alloys, hubs and callipers. De chromed all trim. Replaced badges for black. Had all plastic trim colour matched, tinted lights. Added side steps. Headlight eyebrows and finally blacked the rear windows.. maybe not to everyone's taste but I love it and unique to me

  23. sorry for getting back late sash, i want a 2.0 diesel 150ps i think there the best engine for mpg and pulling power, and as for click and collect thats basically what i did with the leicester balls up, i still havent had my 150 pound road tax back off dvla yet, i have to drive a car before i buy it its my retirement pressy to myself so i dont want to buy a lemon there is a cracker that ticks all the boxes in cornwall its the only private sale on autotrader for 17.500k have a look, but its a monumental journey tho, oh i will defo come to banger to get some mods like front and back nextbase camera, all servicing i can do myself but electronics are to fiddly for me to tackle....michael.
  24. Are you serious!!!! German made Field trial a product sold on the middle aisle at Lidl FWIW a ductile 6mm copper tube will almost certainly pass through your dipstick tube, the memory of the flexible plastic tubes makes them curl towards their rolled radius and will catch where the dipstick tube enters the engine block, you can work a solid tube through there and if determined a 5/16" fuel pipe will go through the 8mm restriction.
  25. Just an update - my Fabia clocked up a total of 268k miles, really trouble free. The 1.6 TDI is a superb engine in my opinion - still not using oil and sweet to drive. I kept to servicing at my trusted local independent garage every 15k miles with no problem at all. The centre arm rest needs replacing - fabric worn out and the central locking button stopped working after a coffee spill. I don’t drive as much now because of Covid, but my brother does so I give it to keep racking up the miles. He has a big Merc but loves the economy of the Fabia. We have my wife’s Fabia Mk2 that I am now using - 102k on the clock and I am going to keep putting on the miles until it becomes uneconomical to run. For me the mk2 Fabia has been the ultimate “workhorse” car that I have owned.

FYI it’s 6 years.. 5 years from the first renewal. Car manufacturers need to get realistic as to what is and isn’t a 40k car.
  27. Not knocking the guy as I like his content and almost purchased can UP GTi when they came out after watching a lot of his videos about them at the time.
  28. I had the same problem. Find a VCDS go Driver Seat Module, find and run seat adjustment reset. (Do not sit on driver seat as it will re-learn limit positions. ) Then clear the recorded fault codes. It will solve the problem.
  29. Mine was dead when I picked up my car. These are the right ones which the car keeps charged, sorted it for me https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004WBL86S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_RMWE1P2B42DXFYRVS0XE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  30. Are they aftermarket reverse sensors? Could be wrong but I don't think factory ones were available on the Mk1 Fabia? Check if the reversing lights are working as the reversing light switch on the gearbox might have failed.

Hi Noms, you will need to use a battery test meter to check condition (after a full charge) NB. due to energy recuperation system, you will normally find the vehicles alternator will only charge battery to approx. 75% max. It seems that Skoda discontinued the Maxidot battery SOC function before MY16
  32. I use Obdeleven as VCDS is a bit pricey for my tastes. So far it has worked faultlessly and you can see all the control units and live data etc. Coding and basic settings/adaptions are easy aswell. Plus I liked I could do it all from my phone. So I can leave the dongle in the glovebox incase I have any issues away from home.
  33. Just for you https://photos.app.goo.gl/Uvts7t32PB2q3uDG9

First hand wash and wax ... Love a clean black car.
  35. best get it on a ramp i think
  36. Here we go, looks like i'm only updating every 3 months or so........ Struggling for any enthusiasm at the moment for messing with the car, working from home for the last 12 months has seen me getting less and less bothered about it. I know it needs finishing but with not being able to drop things at suppliers, firms being closed, it's seen it sit yet again for months on end. Still, keeps the mileage down i guess.. But, i have been doing the odd bit here and there, continuing with the interior. The rear seats are still out of the car, all clean and wrapped up ready to go back in, so i've been focusing on the drivers side floor/plastics. The carpet was given a prolonged cleaning session, wet cleaned with Chemical Guys carpet solution and then extracted, looks much nicer in there. While the drivers seat is out, it was chance to address the knocked about plastic sill trim that bugged me everytime i opened the door. Various bits of damage after 15 years is to be expected. I sourced a replacement trim for both this piece and the panel underneath the seatbelt buckle, still available from TPS. Look how long it'd been on a dusty shelf in Czech Republic...... Yip, that's right, been on the shelf for nigh on 15 years... same as the other piece i bought. Needless to say was a tricky bugger to fit, but looks loads better now. Pedals have been steam cleaned and the used mat given a light hoover. I have got a new set of mats in the loft if i even need to change them in the future. The seat fixing bolts have all been cleaned up and are being painted satin black as we speak. Speaking of seats..... i have now built a bespoke adjustable subframe for a single Cobra Suzuka GT Width racing seat. The seat subframe is now being broken down into the component parts to be painted up, and the seat is going away to my trimmers next week. The plan is to have the seat covered in vRS Fabia material, in the same style as the factory road seats, so light grey outer, onyx grey inner with the VRS logo in the right place. So it will look similar but different at the same time. Time will tell if i can live with it long term but it's something i've not seen done on a Fabia before and keeps it OEM+ instead of just throwing in a black bucket seat. The seat material has been a mission to get hold of but i'm confident it'll look stunning when done. I'm toying with the idea of getting the trimmer to make an elasticated waterproof cover to fit snug over the seat to keep mucky hands off it in the garage etc. I'll get more pics up soon, promise... :-)
  37. Nope, same length for all. There was (were?) a few mm of difference for the Mk 3 vRS. Curioser and curioser. End of hijack!

It's come up a few times over the years, the max seems to be 8. Top bar: - ESC/TCS - Blank - Blank - Stop/start - Central locking Bottom bar: - Parking (auto park/PLA) - Parking (show sensors/camera) - Electronic boot - Set TPMS - Drive/vRS mode Pretty sure the order is reversed for LHD cars. As for the two blanks, I expect it was to give some flexibility if they needed more buttons in the future, guess they didn't need them!
  39. Just a heads-up: Starting at 12pm today, EZ are having a 75% off sale, which I think is across the whole range.
  40. This sounds a lot like a doorlock issue we had on my girlfriends audi a3. All 4 went bust over a 2 year period. The solutions the dealer uses is to replace the lock. I repaired them. There were 2 electric motors inside. The problem was poor contact on the electrical connections on the motors. You could see black residue from arcing. there are several YouTube videos available if you want to try to repair them. Just find the one matching your lock. Take your time and always test the lock while you have the door open.
  41. Och....typo. Actually I wish it was fixed. It broke itself again. Water now going out of holes now spraying car behind!! Going into dealer to be fixed on the 5th April.

Not Tesla: My car theoretically supports 120KW charging - personally I've not found anything over 50KW on any of my travels so far (not that I've done a huge amount of travelling in the last year). 50KW is good enough for a lunch stop to pretty much fully charge the battery in 50 mins or so. One thing I have found is that if there are 2 chargers next to eachother and both are in use then you will never see anything like the quoted 'up to figures' as the load on the infrastructure will need to be reduced. Motorway service stations do charge massively over inflated costs and more so for charging at a faster rate than even at the same station from the same company, for example Typically: Ecotricity who have the monopoly on motorway services have units that usually have three plugs - CCS. Type 2 and Chademo (Nissan) You'll pay more for charging from the CCS because it charges at a higher rate in theory. I find charging advertised charging speeds very much like old school internet 'promises'. I generally try and avoid Ecotricity if I can, they are often only partially functioning if at all and can sometimes take many attempt to get the charging process to initiate. I have found Instavolt and Shell recharge to be more relaible so far. For the most part I do all my charging at home from the PodPoint that I have installed in my garage, and following best practice recommendations I use a little charge a little: charging the car a couple of times per week and maintaining a charge between 50/80% - only charging to 100% when I know I'm going to need it Please see attached pricelist of Audi tarrifs and how they compare with domestic tarrifs, obviously sometimes it is cheaper to use my Audi charging card at public charging stations and sometimes cheaper to pay the charging company direct. Please note I have free memebrship of the Audi 'Transit Tarrif' for the first year. Pricelist.pdf

TESLA 'Fast' or Rapid charging is at TESLA Superchargers. So as you come through Scotland you will be looking for them in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee and where ever. Often they are sitting empty of those with a TESLA because the driver has a car they are not getting free charging with and they will be on the Charge Place Scotland chargers getting 22 kW, 44 kW, 50 kW or what ever.

@KentYeti Welcome to the forum. @bear84has not signed into the forum for nearly 2 years. Maybe they will get an alert to this post and let us know how things are going with their Yeti & travels.
  45. I don't bother anymore, there are so many speed camera sites around us it would beep every minute or so, there were three sites between home and my daughter's flat two miles away. Instead I set cruise to a couple of MPH below the old ACPO guidelines and relax . . . . . . not been caught since 2011. Sooner or later you will find a van/camera that isn't in the database or an unmarked car. Speeding regularly isn't worth the risk.
