  1. I would say with almost 100% certainty that is the cause of the problem, read Flybynites posting. You have not said what problem you have other than you have been told the diff needs replacing (which it probably does if they screwed up the Haldex oil change), has it become noisy? Were the rear wheel bearngs changed in an attempt to silence said noise? - They should not need doing at this low mileage. Who did the Haldex oil change? Was it the dealer who sold you the vehicle? Subject to your answers to the above I would recommend that you pay to have an independant inspection done, hopefully they will find the diff dry of oil, however if the garage that did it wrong has found their mistake & refilled it then you have little chance. I have made the mistake myself but there are far too many reports of garages doing this and the common theme is always that the failure was a coincidence and they want £4.5K to put right their **** up.
  2. Well the day finally arrived and the house in which I had a 40% stake completed today. Most of the money will be reinvested in our current home but I persuaded the other half that my 2010 Honda Civic had seen better days. So just 90 mins later I collected my red vRS that I had secured a few days earlier 😀 It’s the facelift hatchback model, oil burner, on a 67 plate and as far as I can tell completely stock apart from a spare wheel - where these standard? I would just like to say hello to everyone, no doubt as being new to Skoda ownership I shall have a few bone questions over the next few weeks as I get used to the car.
  3. Since no-one else has responded, allow me to welcome you. Bone questions are the speciality here! The forum has a number of "stickies" at the top which cover many of the recurring issues - and the search function at the very top, although a bit hit and miss, can with perseverance produce results on most things. These cars are 7/8 years old now, so most issues have been addressed over time.

I can echo Adjude's previous post. Been contacted by Kate Laws today to ask if my car can be booked in for an extended stay, to resolve the mph/kph issue. They will provide either a loan Skoda or a hire car for the duration, a stipulation being that I am able to fit my golf clubs & trolley in the boot. Should be booked in next week. Skoda seem to be reacting well now that it is accepted that there is a problem. As long as they fix it without creating any other snags I'll be happy. As my car was a dealer's ex demo or employee vehicle, it would have been nice if the person driving it had noticed the bugs & reported them earlier. Might go on a diet of lettuce & carrots now that I seem to be a guinea pig.
  5. At last it’s properly prepared for family life; rubber mats and transmission tunnel mat installed and another good clean and protect completed. Orders done for many goodies and SuperSkoda cart strategically prepared for the 2kg limit when the sale starts, hopefully tomorrow 🤞
  6. Aa just paid my £20 for card renewal! But then have had loads of electricity at no cost and will continue to wherever possible.
  7. Running a 16 plate 110 diesel Yeti SEL. Considering a newer Karoq or Kodiaq in 1.5/1.4 SEL. I know to avoid a sunroof and the 19” wheels on Karoq, so Edition is out, but any other tips or preferences please? Thanks

Available as a free download on ŠKODA’s infotainment system, In Tune works by monitoring interior cabin noises that sit outside of set audible reference points – a scale or specific notes for example. At the point deviations from these references occur the system digitally corrects the pitch of the singer’s voice and plays it back seamlessly in real-time through the in-car sound system. Research from ŠKODA revealed that 100% of drivers* admit to regularly attempting to sing along to their favourite songs while driving. Therefore, this latest addition to ŠKODA’s digital entertainment offering is sure to come to the rescue of drivers and passengers up and down the country that suffer in silence next to those who believe they are the next Beyoncé or Rick Astley. The software, that has been developed by ŠKODA’s in-house sound engineers, also has the ability to record the driver’s singing so they can play back their perfectly-calibrated vocals to their (soon to be ex) friends. Carrie O’Key, ŠKODA’s Head of Vehicle Audio, said: “The UK’s ongoing lockdown situation is straining families and friendships, and with the prospect of kids back at home for the Easter holidays tensions are likely to run high. “We know music is good for the soul but caterwauling certainly is not. This software will hopefully add some much-needed light-hearted fun to every essential car journey.” To find out more about ŠKODA’s range and available technologies, visit www.skoda.co.uk - Ends - *100% of zero people were interviewed for this utterly pointless survey.
  9. It’s not you, they are striped after vacuuming haha 😆 It’s an OEM Skoda one; I was given it by a camera client who traded his Superb in for an Audi A8.
  10. well, i slept okay, until swmbo woke up at 6. shes had a sinus issue the last 3 days (not covid, been tested..) so has been waking up to blow her nose frequently.. i got up at 630, and off i went. i bent the lockdown regulations a bit though.. needed a route change so went the river route, which exceeds my 5k limit by a little bit. was nice though, had a race with a Heron on the return leg, he won... 18.6km route, i can make it a 20 tomorrow morning

Yeah and it’s totally self inflicted. If you gave it less beans, it’s was perfectly fine, but the times you fancied giving it some, then the torque through the front wheels just seemed to overwhelm it a little and it’d be juddering about a bit. The CARWOW review with Matt Watson is a great example of how I used to feel when it happened, you felt like you were hurting your own car. 😢 Anyway, fingers crossed I’ll have some update of my own to post soon. 🤞🏼👍🏼

The non-independent rear sport springs have an 11mm wire diameter and 6.75 coil turns. If the number of coil turns were equal, the 11.25mm wire diameter spring would be about 5% harder, but because the 11.25mm wire diameter spring has about 10% more coil turns it's actually about 5% softer. The spring with 7.5 coil turns should last longer than the spring with 6.75 coil turns because each coil turn is flexing less.
  17. The e-SIM is built in and gives you access to the Skoda Connect services - as long as you have a mobile signal. The Remote Access service is free for the first year in MY21 cars, then costs 39€ to 60€ to renew annually. This is needed if you want to use the Skoda Connect app, although some of its functions are also available for free using the Connect Lite app and a dataplug instead. The Infotainment Online service is also free for the first year for MY21 cars, then costs 49€ to 70€ to renew annually. This is needed to have access to online voice control, traffic information, petrol prices, parking spaces and online map updates. (Skoda UK think we may be able to update the maps manually via the USB-C port later this year, but we can't at present. It should also let us import POIs and destinations/routes but not yet. The Emergency Call feature will be available for the life of the car, and the Breakdown Call and Information Call for the first 10 years. The additional dataplans via Cubic seem to be required if you want to buy services from the 'shop', such as news feeds or weather feeds, if you want to provide a WiFi hotspot in your car for your passengers to access the internet, or if you want to listen to WebRadio. (However I have found that connecting the car to your own mobile phone and its dataplan rather than the built-in e-SIM will get the WebRadio to work.) It took me several months to realise why the advertised WebRadio wasn't working, and I have not seen any warnings in Skoda brochures or manuals that you needed to pay for an extra dataplan to make it work! Chris

I'm picking mine up tomorrow, ordered 14/12/2020. Good job I'm working overnight as I probably wouldn't of got much sleep! I'm feeling a bit apprehensive after reading about all the software issues on this forum, I'm hoping most of them will have been addressed now.
  24. I live in Sweden and I have a Karoq that was built in week 51 of 2020 and it has PCC... and after a few weeks of trying to drive with it, I had to turn it off. Here are the reasons: - When the car approaches a roundabout, then it lowers its speed way too much and goes really slow around it. - It uses speed limit data from the camera above the mirror with conjunction of preloaded data for the segments of the public road network with specific speed limit (GPC + preloaded data), so sometimes you get wrong readings or the preloaded data is wrong (no idea why, since the data is publicly available in Sweden and compiled from the traffic agency and always accurate), so your car might speed up to 110 km/h when the actual speed limit is 90 km/h or the other way around - slow down way too much. - Going in a corner is also problematic, the car is very very pessimistic and slows down way too much. The moment when I finally decided I am turning off the PCC and I am just going by normal ACC and Travel assist was when I was exiting a highway with a slight turn onto a B-road and then at the end of the turn I switched on the PCC with a preset speed of 70 km/h and then the car decided to break heavily to around 50km/h because it thought I was still turning in the corner (when in reality I have just exited it). The speed limit of the turn was 60km/h and the car slowed down way less than this (~50km/h). I know I was speeding a bit, but please don't judge me way too hard. All these events occurred in the winter months. The traffic sign recognition did not work when there was a ton of snow, so may be it just read the speed limit signs in my area wrongly and carried the information with it and later used it when the weather got better and I started using PCC more. Or may be the system is just bad and needs more development / updates. Idk what the reason is, but the fact is that I have turned it off and I feel better without it I still have traffic sign recognition turned on, but it is just displayed in the VC as a piece of information for the driver. May be the car will "learn" what the correct speed limits are or how fast it can go on a roundabout after a while and I can try again in a few months - you never know 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, don't feel like you have missed some ground breaking innovation, but I understand your curiosity
  25. It’s a MIB2.5 which is preferable IMO, MIB3 is buggy still. I’ll let her know if there is an issue but I’m holding out till tomorrow in the hope they have a sale 😂
  26. BTW - if you get a shipping cost of 25EUR on the checkout, email Magda and tell her the system is still broken! Shipping should be 11 EURs.
  27. Sasha - what was the deal with the MIB system in the end....was it an MIB2.5 or was it an MIB3 system on your car??
  28. While you say penetrating fluid, is this a good brand or "WD-40". I have found that PlusGas gives much better results that WD. One method is to carefully apply heat on the bleed nipple and surrounding area, I use a pen type torch which give a smaller localised flame area, and when hot apply penetrating fluid which may be drawn into the threaded area or even give expansion/contraction at the thread interface. What you must not do is apply so much heat that any seals are effected or the brake fluid is boiled as if it doesn't work you will probably have to drive it again.
  29. Looks a bit like this: Although there are plenty of people using a suitably large flat head screwdriver instead
  30. I had issues with my front passenger door (LHD car) when it was raining or when I pressure washed it. Water drops were entering from the upper side of the door. I thought it was the rubber seal of the door but proved to be that the door was slightly hanging. So a bit of hinge adjustment at 'A' pillar and problem solved.
  31. Ok all sorted hopefully! Never thought finding springs for a Fabia would be so much trouble. As I said I'm lucky in having 3 good factors locally, never normally have any problem getting parts. Thanks everyone for the code numbers and recommendations, very helpful. So I've bought 2 springs from a company called Parts In Motion. Had a chat with a helpful lady who said OE number was 6Q0511115 which = KYB RA5136. Even then their own system said they were wrong, but she said it's their system not recognizing the code and it's correct. Anyway, £54 for the both with FedEx delivery on Tuesday, fingers crossed. Pushed MOT back till next Friday, so hopefully all good. On shift at work all Easter so wouldn't have time to do anything sooner. On holiday from Tuesday so should have time to sort, still not 100% happy with handbrake, took drums off, cleaned up , shoes have 5/6 mill still on them and have adjusted up cable in cab. Still seems to come a long way up on lever, so when I've got wheels off next week for springs I'll have another go, or bite bullet and change cables. Thanks again all.

Hello! What you have done here is very interesting. Couple of questions. Cost of the turbo + install? Reliability? Standard ECU? How the rest of the car handles with this new found speed haha I've got a 2016 Monte Carlo estate and am very interested in making it faster. Looks really really interesting getting that from a 1.2
  33. Definitely, Terracotta Bronze is one of those colours (quite common with Skodas!) that really comes to life in differing lights and is unfortunately, a victim of its own scarcity. I really like it too. I hope TIBET's new owner finds their way here (the Briskoda sticker is/was still on the rear window). Keep waving the bronze Yeti flag, Brijo!

I would avoid a 2018 1.5 as others have said, those early 1.5s had some problems. If the SEL has 18 inch wheels, you will find the tyres are a rarer (and thus expensive) size, and potentially front pair may be fairly worn. All three of them have done 5-7k miles per year, so should be on fixed servicing, so check the service record is consistent and nothing is missed. May as well request a service is done (as part of the sales deal) if one is due in next few weeks. You mentioned a few hills in your initial post, so seriously consider putting a note in your calendar for August to get some seasonal tyres, as the factory fit modern summer tyres are rubbish in cold weather and cold rain (and useless in snow). Don’t leave it until autumn as price jumps.
  35. This is my first car with a digital cockpit and in general I really like it. What I really miss is an easier way to cancel a call with the button on the steering wheel and a bigger display of a selected gear. At least in VRS layout. The gear selector display in the bottom left corner is really hard to see.

Not to come over sounding like a **** but of course Skoda are correct - there are not enough issues to warrant a recall. Just how many problems do you think there have been compared to the number of vehicles that went out with this configuration? You're making the usual mistake of assuming that the vocal make up a majority - they don't. Unless you've got some kind of data to indicate that the number of issues makes up even a single percentage, you'll find the number is extremely low. It's a mistake made on numerous forums for everything - if you believed Reddit for example, you'd believe that the vast majority of Playstation 5 consoles have a number of issues and that list of issues is an "arms length", Once you drill into the number of units in the wild and the number of people actually making the complaints, you drop down in to the realms of 0.1 / 0.2% I can guarantee you it is likewise here. Before we go down the "Yer, but my mate Dave has had an issue" and "When I spoke to my local garage they told me hundreds of people......." - no, these aren't statistics. This is hearsay at best, anecdotal. Now if you want to make the change then go for it. I've, out of interest, looked at my own setup and see there is a bag sandwiched between two plastic skins. I've not got any intention of changing that. Others will want to make the change, sure - nobody is going to tell you not to do that. But please don't start making it sound like every other car is going to start having issues and if you don't do it then it's just a matter of time before it all goes wrong - you're sounding like the TFSI issues with cam chains all over again, that too did not effect more than a handful of vocal people.
  37. UPDATE: I installed this TPMS kit. The external sensors are a bit ugly, but it seems to do a good job and it’s a neat and easy kit aside from that. It has a display with a solar panel that attaches to the windscreen that wakes up when it detects vibration like a door closing.
  38. Well I have quite a few 4x4 VAG cars including the Octy. Personally I have had no issue. The main issue is that VAG do not service the Haldex properly (if at all) but they are not alone because there are a huge variety on the service requirements on the Borg Warner (Haldex) system. Some say it is sealed for life (but they rarely fail in warranty) IMHO Volvo treat them best. If the car has been serviced and pump gauze cleared of gunk it should be fine. The problem comes because the manufacturers do not service the 4x4 system correctly then people are forced to do it themselves, often with information from the wrong generation of Haldex. It is not uncommon for the rear differential to be drained instead of the Haldex unit and not refilled or incorrectly refilled with Haldex fluid. The haldex is generally fine if it is serviced properly and the rear diff is fine if it has the correct oil. NHS Skodas are driven hard but never known it be a problem.

  41. I gave The Big Red Bus a serious wash and polish today. What a gorgeous day! Now, it takes me about ten minutes to stand up straight from a sitting position.
  42. Don't worry Gyp everything went to plan on Saturday.... Turned up at Preston Motorcycles and was initially taken back by how many motorbikes they had in their showroom rows and rows of bikes up to 4 deep in places! A very large variety and a lot of high spec expensive bikes. The staff were very friendly and helpful with my bike all ready including all the paperwork with the fresh service and MOT they had done for me. A couple of bits to sign and happy to let me check the bike over for as long as I wanted and that was it away I went! Just under a 50 mile ride home and considering my last bike was a GSXR 600 the Versys was lovely to ride. Yes it doesn't have a great deal of power but the seating position is great and very comfy and was just a lovely ride home. A good basic no frills bike that you can just ride for hours (again coming from sports bikes after 30 mins I started having back, wrist, leg aches!) I have ridden it to work for the last two days and put another 65 miles on it so around 110 miles so far. It already has heated grips but I think a better touring screen and some handguards are in order if I am going to keep commuting. I already feel at home on the bike and don't find the 68bhp a problem it is still more than enough to complete overtakes with ease and as the saying goes you just use all of the power all of the time. I have joined a Versys 650 group on facebook and whilst I think the bike only needs the couple of additions mentioned above there is always talk of more modifications on the group of booster plugs, rear tail tidy and hugger combo, Crash bars, Navigation bars/Phone mounts....etc so no doubt I will get sucked into all that not that my arm will need much twisting :-) With the weather being so great yesterday and today I have seen a lot of bikers on my commute which is always good to see so I can give the old head nod to them although not all seem to do it. Have you been out on yours Gyp? What about others hopefully people have managed an extended lockdown trip out to get some **cough **cough** bread and milk?! Oh and re the bike still being listed for sale I can only assume with the large amount of stock and how busy they are they must have forgotten to take the listing down maybe.
  43. I don’t think it is designed to do that, if it is dark enough to need the instruments illuminated, it will be dark outside as well so you need dipped headlights Not sure why anyone would want to drive in dark without headlights on
  44. Agree that they look the best and wouldn't change them..
  45. Now changed my 2018 Karoq 1.5 Edition for a new 2021 1.5 Edition. The 2018 car had two updates and whilst they improved matters the car still had a hesitancy when pulling away from cold, it did cure the kangaroo starts. Now the 2021 car is a revelation and is what the 1.5 engine should have been in the first place. It drives far smoother with no hesitancy when pulling away and the car is far quieter at motorway speeds. Not sure how the new car engine management systems differs from the updated old system but believe me it is most definitely a different car to drive.
  46. Very nice! Great to see slower AC chargers there so everyone can get a charge and PHEV won't have excuse to block the rapids.

It is basically being marketed as a compact SUV right now and being launched to rival 2 of the biggest players in this segment which are the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos (Both from the same parent company apparently). A compact SUV actually is actually just a bigger hatchback IMO. Marketed as a SUV but you shouldn't take it off-roading This is just the prototype version though....the actual production car won't be having any major changes AFAIK. Engine options are very limited; the 1.0 lit and 1.5 lit are the only 2 options being offered and that too in petrol (Gasoline).....this won't sit too well with Indian consumers as we are very well addicted to our diesel powertrains (till BS-V Emission norms kicked in we had diesel engines in small hatchbacks with displacement as low as 793 cc) due to the rising costs of fuels..... As it is, Skoda is considered as a premium brand in India so the Kushaq will be priced accordingly. Only time will tell if the sales figures will be anywhere near the Hyundai Creta or the Kia Seltos both starting priced at approx. 10 Lakh INR (13,705 USD or 10,045 Pound sterling)
  49. Update . Dashcam was causing the battery to go flat.....the car modules would not shut down because of it.S oI've to try hard wiring the cam..Thanks to everyone for the comments
