  1. A few photos from this evening's walk........

Its official, im now the proud owner of a Sportline with Sunroof, tech and safety pack. Im not fussed about the number plate being displayed as by tomorrow ill be putting my personalised plates back on. What an amazing vehicle it is.
  3. I think the diverter valve is on revision 'P' now, but it doesn't matter. Quote the numbers above to TPS and they'll tell you what the least revisions are. Then come back and let us know!
  4. Hi from Slovakia 😊 first Skoda here, had BMW before Škoda Superb 3, 8/2017, 2.0 TDI, 140KW, L&K
  5. You'll need input from a 1.8T member, I'm afraid. I'm good at helping find part numbers but all our cars are diesels. Perhaps @DeanVRS20VT or @mac11irl might be able to help?
  6. Take a look HERE for N75 possibilities ... Still looking for blow-off valve sources.
  7. Its a little ironic that a hacker like Uwe Ross makes loads of money hacking VW protocols and puts a load of barriers in the way to stop people hacking his hacks. Although OBD2 protocols may be public domain, VAG proprietary coding and protocols are most certainly not. Imo Rosstech, Obd eleven, carista and others are all hacker products, relying on information on forums or insider contacts to develop their products further What I find objectionable is when someone finds a successful hack to add or change features on their car, then publishes it on their or other public forum, firms like OBD eleven just grab this information and monetise it as a one touch function. And not giving any guarantee it will work or not brick/damage something in your car. Just a disclaimer buried in the small print to cover their backs.
  8. That's 100% a fake, it's one of the 'better' fakes but it's definitely not genuine This is what my genuine looks like: And mine appears identical to another genuine one shown here:
  9. Had all the Boomtown Rats LPs at 15yrs ! My previous guvnor even nicknamed one of his drivers Geldoff as they don't like Mondays! Seriously tho wife always said daughters friends used to make snidy remarks about the state of our car on the school run. My reply was it's paid for, who cares. The saving on pcp costs go to overpaying mortgage, a lot better use for our money. When I read some of the stories regarding pcp makes me cringe. Suppose it's a generation thing. As a yougster couldn't afford cars, it was all motorbikes. When finally could afford cars found not really bothered what I drive as long as it's cheap. On the news other day the MP for Holyhead was saying that Irish haulers are bypassing UK ports and sailing direct to France , ferry companies are moving ships away from UK - Ireland routes, to Ireland - France with consequential loss of jobs on her patch. Maybe in a good few years things will get cheaper in Ireland without having to rely on UK imports.
  10. All others check your PMs
  11. Just to actually bring an update to "today" - or yesterday, actually. I have fitted a new Kenwood KDC-BT640U to it and it sounds so much better since my old one was skipping like no-ones business. Before: After: (Yes, the CDs have changed too, but here we are) Additionally, I decided to pull out my magic T-Cut stuff. Which my Grandfather also used on his polar white Dacia Sandero Stepway and had to scrub it off really quickly! The car now looks a bit like this:
  12. I'm pretty sure yours will an EA288 engine, where the EGR concept is completely different to the previous engines. EGR gas is taken after the DPF, so it will have virtually no particulates in it, which is what clogs up the EGR valve on previous engines.
  13. Never actually made a post like this before but here we are. Anyway, as the title suggests, I want to do some wee odds and ends to my Fabia just to make it... erm, great? I mean, better would be a good start. Throughout this project thread, I'll be documenting all the things I've done to my Fabia to make it "great again"! This tale begins late February/early March. At this point, I needed a motor vehicle of some description as I couldn't stand driving my Mum's Dacia Duster anymore (was like driving a tower block). As a learner, it was really intimidating. So the pair of us decided it was best if I were to purchase a car for myself, I frantically scrolled through Auto Trader looking for something, most of my results were clapped out Yarises (Yarii???) and Citroen C1s. Now, there's not a fibre of my being that'd want to be in a C1 or a K12 Micra for that matter. I had a budget of £2,500 and it needed to be within 45 miles of my house because I couldn't be bothered travelling too far. I came across two Fabias, both about the same age, same trim, about the same mileage but almost £500 of a difference. I decided to go for the cheaper one, plus it was red over beige and looked better in the interior since the red one was all black on the inside. So here it is, my '56' plate Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP Ambiente with the BME engine code and 51,000 miles. Here's a view of the dashboard from a few days after I got it. When I received the car, it drove home perfectly for 40 miles and then by the time I got to the Halfords car park and went to reverse into a space, the damned thing started bleeping and then wouldn't start for a good few minutes. This took me about a week to fix after plugging in OBD readers, taking a Jeremy Clarkson approach "hammer" to fixing things and then my Grandfather (an ex-motor mechanic) finally piped up and said "have you checked the ground connectors from the battery in the body?" And therein laid the fault, the ground connector was really dirty. Since then, it's just been adding wee bits to the car and looking after it. Currently waiting for a pipe so I can remove the oil from the sump to replace it with my fancy Mobil 1 stuff I've ordered. More things that I fit will be posted here... should I remember to update this .
  14. I have searched the forum, googled, and searched 7ZAP for these before making a nuisance of myself but I'd like to be certain so.... nuisance it is, sorry Stock Mk1 vRS, want to replace the dump valve and N75 at some point soonish.. Anyone got the part numbers to hand please? Thanks... E.
  15. Your main part numbers are correct, the last letter is the revision code, and the numbers you posted are newer than my ones that I purchased about 18 months ago. My ones were 06A906283E for the N75 and 06A145710N for the recirc valve I would just double check with your lacal main agent that the revision is correct and go for it with the new numbers. Hope it helps.
  16. Functionally? Probably not much, Morally? Massively... Carista, OBDeleven, Ross-tech and VCP are creating, updating and supporting their own product. It takes money and resource to keep these things working as VAG change protocols/modules. When buying a genuine version of any of these tools, you're effectively helping that company survive, profit and continue supporting/developing their product in to the future. When genuine, I don't mind which interface people use, they all have pros/cons. A cloned version is someone stealing the hard-work and investment that one of these companies have made, reproducing and then selling it for their own profit. That's where the difference lies. Even more so when they claim their cloned version is genuine as they did with you Ross-tech and others have certainly have done lots of reverse engineering to understand the VAG protocols, I'm not sure if they have any insider knowledge or have purchased an official dealer tool to figure it out. I expect the latter as they tend to play catch up and the next VCDS version will add support for newer vehicles. I certainly wouldn't class it as a 'hacker' product. I believe that some 3rd party diagnostic companies have used Ross-techs label files in the past which is why they are now encrypted. I'm not sure if Carista, OBDeleven or VCP have ever been accused of this but I expect there will always be a degree of copying and reverse engineering between these companies. It's always easier to copy... You also need to remember that VCDS is primarily a diagnostic tool, the fact we can change coding and adaptions which makes enabling various hidden features or retrofits possible is pure luck As you may have seen, VAG are introducing ways to prevent any none-dealer tool from changing things with SFD tokens. Hopefully Ross-tech can come up with a solution to this, I know other companies are although they are of questionable legality and my be short lived. That I agree with completely The one touch functions are terrible in my opinion and destined to mess up many cars given the lack of checks! A well written set of instructions are much better, if nothing else, it should be clear when something isn't matching which is a sign to stop
  17. I have messed around with the bonnet catch and all is good 👍 Im new to all this car fiddling millark so didn’t even think something so small could be the issue. Cheers guys 👍 Appreciate it.
  18. Well, I'm still wondering about a loose heat shield, most probably above one of the cats, or between the back box and the fuel tank, or on the exhaust manifold. Other than the manifold, these require a manual inspection, not just a visual one.
  19. If £70 is too much then you're back to DIY which can be messy with exhausts due to lack of access and no hot spanner available.
  20. Nice solder splat just near VR1! Can't see Ross-Tech writing nothing but VAG ver: 2.01 on theirs. Or using "VAG" at all?

Looks great. I hope you are enjoying it. Safe driving 👍
  22. @TheUltraRunner - thank you, appreciated
  23. I had something similar happen with my garmin GPS running watch in January - it tracked my running but everything was offset about 200 metres to the west. Turned out to be a global issue caused by an expired certificate of some sort - they pushed a fix - turned out to be the sony GPS chipset that was the common fault (rather than Garmin software) It would be interesting to see if any other users had a similar error
  24. I don't believe my camera picks it up well, but this one isn't actually the Cayenne Orange, mine is 'Flamenco Red' which I discovered after being on the phone to a guy from Skoda when trying to find paint codes... Without knowing about the sticker beside the spare wheel well, I don't think I've ever been so embarrassed on a telephone call in my life . I did look at a Cayenne Orange 1.2 54bhp model from 2003/04 or so, but it was a little far away from me.
  25. Absolutely crazy situation now. Without boring you all to death in 1985 when I started you needed customs forms for every country. When you arrived back at Dover you waited for customs clearance in the port, from an hour to hours and hours . Over the years it improved to not needing any clearance unless you imported from outside the EEC,. Now we seem to have gone back 30 years , but without the infrastructure of customs handling agents with their knowledge. Last week we had one of our tankers stuck in Belgium for 2 days due to customs demanding an ATA carnet which is a temporary import clearance for rock group /music equipment. Our tanker had liquid food stuffs on! More car related used to work for a firm involved in importing VOR items for Rover cars from Italy to Cowley . This was a next day service in 2 hops- Italy to France then we picked it up and drove overnight to Uk. Geeefco did the same with Peugeot parts. No customs needed . As I said in my opinion we've regressed, and I don't blame Irish hauliers with trying to distance themselves from this mess.

I didn't have the KPH issue, but have had everything else under the sun (this was the most obvious thread at the time to join, although now it seems there is a new post every thread about software!) Will investigate later re software version, although IIRC my car gave no info on numbers other than 0891. There is, or was, no menu which specifically used the words 'software version' so I am not sure which number to quote back.
  27. According to UK trucking magazines, the Irish hauliers are avoiding having to do WrecksIt transit paperwork on their loads.

Is the mph/kmh issue fixed on your car? If so, what software version have you got now?
  29. I'm guessing that that was an indicative quote based on what you (remotely) told them what was wrong, at the end of the day that exhaust needs fixing if you are to keep on using that car, so you don't have many other options open to you. They might have included replacing the next section of exhaust as that is usually cheaper than spending a lot of time and gas on welding in bits to close it up correctly.
  30. Before I retired I spent over 35 years developing software and firmware and have seen testing methods change dramatically over that period - at the cost of quality. The worst aspects IMHO are the trend to the designer/implementer writing their own test scripts (inevitably using their same assumptions of how the software should work, hence making the testing verging on useless) and the loss of the 'Chinese Wall' philosophy where testing is done by an independent team making their own assumptions not sharing those of the developer/implementer. IMHO the current dreadful quality of the software/firmware on the Golf 8, Octavia 4, etc. is an inevitable consequence of this lack of independent testing and the adoption of methods such as Agile.
  31. I have worked in software development business for a while now, I definitely agree that this should all be found while testing, before releasing for customers. At this point there is not much we can do with these bugs, for me I ordered car 8feb, got it last Friday, 0 issues at all, only one small thing was it took time to set up second users profile other than that works flawlessly. Once waze stuck and were not moving, i turned on and off data on phone and it worked again, this is believe is android auto issue not car related. Side note, I lived a while between Glasgow and Edinburgh, love them both, beautiful place to live.
  32. So @Bertie90 have you tried this cable on another computer with newly downloaded software yet as that should prove it one way or another?
  33. Don’t let them tell you they’ve never seen it before. I’ve seen some that exploded while the car was being driven. You should find some more info with a simple google search.
  34. All done! Used a trim removal tool to help encourage the clusters out away from the body. Straight plug and play with the lights. have taken a video with one LED and one Halogen. There’sa BC real difference however I’m not sure it comes across that well on the video with it being dark and night time. Will try one tomorrow daytime and see if it’s more noticeable.
  35. Must have been a pre existing fault maybe the recent cold weather ? ...... Hope you get it sorted !
  36. Soak it all with WD-40 or something thin like that and work all of the pivoting bits back and fore with a screwdriver until they can spring back freely by themselves. Only then should you cover it all with grease. Should keep you good for years. Doesn't hurt to keep refreshing the grease though. Hope you get it sorted.
  37. In Ireland for a 1.9litre engine pre 2008, yes. A 1.6l pre 2008 is 514 euro iirc. The high tax is what made older cars very cheap to buy, covid seems to have done away it though. Insurance is also a robbery especially if you dont want a blackbox. Newer cars are expensive but you used to get away with importing cars from NI or the UK and paying a registration tax (which in and of itself is illegal under EU law but Ireland makes enough money from it to pay the fines off and still make money) But last year they added a stupid Nox charge and priced them out of reach aswell. My Monte carlo was 4000 euro itself and ended up costing 6500 ish to 7000 euro registered in Ireland not including insurance. Still a better car than any of them for sale in Ireland but you cant help but feel cheated by the whole thing.
  38. Anogther guy on here had the same problem and it was a seized pivot on the latch....
  39. Feels like a missed opportunity for the Kodiaq. Looks like they do not want it to succeed. The looks are a step backward from the current generation. The wheels of the RS that cover the red brake pads, remind me of non-alloy wheels with hub caps . They plonked the Octavia RS engine into the Kody, it shd have atleast been the 280ch one that was in the Superb before. Hardly anything to be excited about.
  40. Wellington European sent me the first pic this afternoon. At 5pm after work I was there to collect Rusty! Before immediately parking it in town and going for dinner with my wife. The drive home was great! Smooth, good noises, happy driver. No obvious drips when home after a spirited drive up the hill road.
  41. SEL should have had climate.
  42. No thank you We have a Superb, an Octavia and a Fabia The fabia is going to be supplanted most probably by a new Seat Leon later this year. The Kamiq is not on my radar for reasons already given and its front end is ugly anyway imo. I'm very happy for you that you find your Kamiq wonderful, maybe they are all squishy now and not just textured plastic. But its not a car that impressed me enough to consider it. I advise people to always take an extended test drive before they look to buy any car regardless of make or model and see if its exactly what they want.
  43. Can I respectfully suggest you go and have another look and you'll see the squishy surfaces and spacious rear area. While you're at it have a test drive in an SE with the 17" alloys. The ride is simply superb.
  44. Took a first trip to the track with updated ECU and updated swaybars, the way the car now moves after stage 1 and sway bars is amazing. With better brake fluid (the OEM Dot 4 fluid is garbage) and upgraded rear brakes it will manage consistent quick driving alot better. Already felt a big difference in front brakes going from OEM to proper Brembo discs and pads. Might even get the brake lines upgraded. If my shocks ever start failing will definetly also switch to Bilstein DCC ones. Only did one 20 minute session today because I had my puppy with me (kept the Variocage in the car when I went for a session and it stayed in its spot perfectly!) so did not time it but on the straights Porsche 718's werent really able to keep up with me. Had a good friend drive on the passenger seat and said that the car now definetly is in the same league as a Leon Cupra in terms of handling and most likely quicker on straights. The specific Leon Cupra has RS3 and Golf GTI brakes, armored brake hoses etc so braking is still a weak spot compared to the Leon. Super satisfied with the 280, I can fit my fat-ass frame at 6'6, put in my big landseer puppy in the back, have her be comfortably in the safety cage while driving spiritedly on the A & B roads too. No pics of the car from yesterday but here's a puppy to cheer up the day
  45. Yes, normally more noticeable after a 60 mile journey. The dealer had the clutch fitted before I bought the car although he advertised it as a plus point. I've had the car nearly 2 years now so I'll not bother the gentleman, especially as I had to point out to him that the law had changed on adding a percentage when paying with card....... Our previous car rattled like this for ages with no disasters so I'll live with it for the mo.
  46. VCDS CODING 5F (Infotainment) module, Adaptations, channel: 'Confirmation of installation change' Note your current coding Start Windows calculator and set it to 'Programming mode' and select 'HEX' option Calculation: (current coding) XOR C9D2 Change the adaptation channel to the new (just calculated) code VCDS main screen, 'Auto-Scan' Check for fault codes (generated by the update) and clear them (software version, interrupted communication, etc.) Note that VCDS shows your code on the adaptation channel with a space ('xx xx' format). You have to remove the space before you calculate your new code. At the point you enter your new (calculated) code, insert the space again. EXAMPLE (don't use these values): '1A 1A' (original coding of the adaptation channel) 1A1A XOR C9D2 equals D3C8 Enter it as 'D3 C8' (with space) on the adaptation channel If your original code starts with zero(s) just remove them before calculating (if it's 0AFB for example calculate with AFB Also you can use link http://mib-helper.com/im-so-xory/
