  1. New car day for me! I've spent an hour or so negotiating the menus; setting up my keys etc. And I'm very impressed. It's the 2nd skoda I've owned (1st being a 2007 fabia vrs SE) and I'm very glad to have a skoda back on the drive. The car needs a good clean and some attention to the paintwork plus some new centre caps etc. But over all I'm very pleased. Seems to have a great spec including wireless. Charger, heated screen etc. Will no doubt have some questions in the near future, so stand by! Cheers 👍
  2. 2 ways to do it; either new mirror base and tap into the door light feed or replace the door controllers for Highline ones and add the wiring and code. If you are going to that trouble though, may as well go the whole hog and do the folding mirrors as they all come with puddle lights.
  3. Concerns. 1, Dont worry about other people. 2, Should not think there would be a problem, unless it's slammed to the floor. 3, DSG, brilliant for towing.

Most of posters here described exactly as it is in O3, as O4 is more-less exactly the same car mechanically. I will try to put into one message all information, so OP isn't confused: 1) Different keys, different seat and mirror position, but it must be set in head unit (it's off by default) 2) While in car you need to hold the button, as a safety measure, because it allows seat memory recall during driving - please imagine your seat goes all the way front or back, while on a highway, if you press 3 instead of 1 for example, or kids played before. You could easily crash. 3) When you unlock the car and open the door, pressing the button shortly will do the memory recall position all the way, without holding. So, two drivers, one key, each one calls back memory position which he put. This use-case isn't a safety issue, because the car is standing still.
  5. Hi all, My name is Graham and I’ve been meaning to join for the last 4 years. I’ve got a 2017 Superb, owned from new and love it I’m an active wheelchair user and drive on hand controls. I actually intended to get an Octavia but the Superb was far better value on Motability. I needed an estate and you really can’t get any bigger (or better) in my opinion. I extended my lease to the maximum 5 years as I have only just done 15,000 miles. I am having to consider what I do next. I would rather hang on to my car given the choice but will probably need to order a replacement in the next few months. I am looking at a like for like replacement but they are currently so expensive that I am having to look at alternatives. I find the forum informative and usually entertaining 😁

Nice little drive followed by a wash. No problems at all, lots of smiles from me. Nothing broke. All fluids stayed in their proper places. Really happy with Wellington European's work. A mate and I had a good feel around the carpet and it is damp underneath the passenger side carpet. So something’s definitely leaking there and it must be the source of the musty smell. I will put up with it for a little longer, don’t want to strip the interior out yet as I have a couple of events to go to in the next few weeks.
  7. Surely your intense driving is not much above 80 mph and the ambient temp not much over 25*oC even around Sunny South Ayrshire. Your turbo deals pretty good with the car coming to a halt and you switching off the ignition without the need to sit idling, and the engine dealing with the cooling. You will hear the fan and pump when they are required.
  8. Clean looks for the win! Removed mine within the 1st week i think, full rear debadging of the 280/272 looks great imo. Skoda's "4x4" logo for the Haldex system is the worse choice within the group, much more suitable to a pick-up or off-road vehicle but out of place on a Superb. As for the "Skoda Superb" model name, it does not mean anything special in my eyes either, to be worth staying on the car. The fat dual mufflers that protrude slightly from the bottom of the car as well as the dual exhaust tips are still there to give an idea of what's under the bonnet for those in the know Here's what to expect if yours is a hatch too:
  9. If they don't issue the refund promptly you can make a complaint to them which has to be done before taking it any further - such as to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
  10. According to the owner's manual for my car (version 2020/07): Speed range Depending on the equipment, ACC allows a speed setting in the range of 30-160 or 30-210 km/h. If control is started at a speed of less than 30 km/h on vehicles with an automatic transmission, the speed is automatically increased to 30 km/h or controlled according to the speed of the vehicle ahead. 30 kph is around 18mph, and so if the car accelerates to that speed if you engage the cruise control at a slower speed, using it on a camp site is definitely NOT advised The speed limiter also only works from 30kph, so I'd suggest your best option is to drive on idle at walking pace. Chris
  11. Join the Q mate. This forum is littered with infotainment software issues, glitches, black screens , endless loading circles. Log all probs and tell dealer immediately as the car is not as described and not fit. It reminds me of a air crash investigation show a few years ago. The pilots were fixated on a computer problem on why the engines were a low thrust while the throttles were at full. The pilots only looked at the throttle screen while the plane descended into the ground. A bit of a severe example but when things dont work we get fixated on the screen to try to work the problem ,,, at the expense of driving the car. That is a risk and shouldnt be a risk as the car should have gone through full testing prior to launch. BTW its not just us ,, the Golf 8 has the same problems o hear. As i have said before the Octy and the Golf are the bread and butter of the VW group and the brands really need not annoy their loyal customer base. Skoda may have taken the eye off the ball here as they expand into India and further. Too many users , too many problems , there will be a fix and we can get back onto praising the car again for all the good bits. Stick with it mate , dont give the dealer an inch although not their fault , if we all shout , they must do the right thing by us. Amen Brothers
  12. Yes, seriously looked at Dacia myself before buying the Fabia . Wanted the Logan with 1.5dci engine unfortunately very few second hand ones about at the time. I've had diesel cars now for 23 years and never found them expensive to service . Aside from the odd set of glow plugs at £30 ish for four it's just been oil and filters. Our Megane diesel is used on local trips ( no dpf) still get 55mpg with £30 road tax. Even used to run an older Peugeot on cooking oil; can't get cheaper than that! Wouldn't have thought with the more stringent MOT emissions test diesels were particularly dirty nowadays .
  13. Hi Folks, Have just signed up to your forum since I've been a passive visitor for some time and have used it in order to get some technical clarifications. My 2nd car was a 2013 Skoda Fabia mk2 1.2tsi and since relocating to Belgium, I bought another. Its a 2011 Fabia 1.2tsi 63kW Combi model (an estate essentially). On top of that, I have a 2021 Skoda Octavia Combi also (1.0 model for Co2 purposes naturally). So you could say, I'm all in on Skodas now! I was an avid motorcyclist for 10-12 years before I got my first car when we had kids and now the second has come along, the 2 wheels are sold and I'm all in on 4 now. Nice to meet you all and look forward to frequenting the forum and contributing where I can! Albeit from foreign lands Thanks
  14. Have an image of my little Flamenco Red gem (restoration pending)!
  15. Modern engine cooling systems and oils have came on a long way from old school oils like Castrol GTX etc, when letting a turbo cool may have been relevant.
  16. Speed varies, I tend to rev it a lot and I don't like driving at an established pace like a bus if that makes sense. But I've been told this applied even to old Passats, and you should lose speed a few miles before pulling up so turbo can cool down 😂
  17. If it was a high powered sports car then maybe yeah. But your probably causing more heat in the engine bay sitting idling, not to mention just wasting fuel. Was it an old wife that told you to do this
  18. Was lucky enough to change from the yeti to a Kia Soul sport nearly 3 years ago,no 4wd but don’t miss it (didn’t realise it had stopped working on the yeti for a number of months) and the soul sport is better in every way and a pleasure to drive, still really enjoying it and if I had to change the Xc 40 looks about right but far too expensive so more than happy with the sport and never missed the yeti but enjoyed for the 4 years We owned it.onward and upwards as they say and dodged the bullet with the karot jumping 1.5 engine so win win.
  19. Just make sure you don't floss your teeth with the fishing line
  20. Although my car is an Octavia, not a Superb, I also like the sleeper look. So off for good came the "Skoda Octavia" badges. The "VRS" partly chrome badge came off, replaced with a black VRS one. The Skoda emblem in the centre of the boot lid was replaced with a colour matched and black one. The front of the car had the same chrome emblem replaced with a colour matched and black one, along with the VRS badge in black. Just thinking about the exhaust tips next, as I would also like them black. All the badges came off easily. On my last Octavia VRS, I used an old bank card, edging it into the corner of the badge and working my way round. This time I used the old trick of flossing tape. Warming the badges first of course. Once the badges were off, to get the rest of the glue off the paintwork, I used a product called "Sticky Stuff Remover". Got the nice clean look now with less chrome. Chrome in my opinion belongs on classic cars.
  21. I’ll be bringing mine in soon to strip and paint the callipers and prep and coat with a decent ceramic. I’m for removing all the rear badges and those terrible looking L&K badges on the front wings.
  22. At a guess, it'll be a headlight range adjustment for lower spec cars with halogen headlights. It won't do anything on a car with xenon or LED headlights
  23. I came from a mkii vrs and the Superb is unsurprisingly slower (but more economical) . I took the view that it's going to be more of a cruiser, and in that regard it's great, far quieter and better riding. Power wise it's fine, and coped well with a boot full of holiday clober and 3 bikes on the back. I've also been pleasantly surprised on the bends, it turns in keenly enough to cause a grumble from the passanger seat. A deciding factor for me was that my son sat in the back of the Superb and declared it to be business class; he wasn't convinced by the octavia in the same way!
  24. cars back spacers fitted splitter fitted starting work on the rarb skirts and service can wait till this weekend
  25. I've ran Michelin pilot sport 4 on my previous mk3 for over 90k miles no issues at all in all speeds or weather. I do 50 miles each way to work. Every day.
  26. Thank you Just what I needed
  27. The OP isn't wanting to drive faster than the limit! Whether it's enforceable or not is utterly irrelevant.
  28. It's "legally enforceable" in that the landowner can legally ban the offender from using the land. Gerrouta my pub!
  29. Oh, Lordy, I am not talking of 'legality' and I do not have an issue with the requirement for 5mph - 'struth, my own grandchildren could be wandering about there. My question was merely about tips for smooth driving at very low speeds - and I understand now that this is not possible by incorporating cruise control or speed limiter. If you see the description at the side of my posts, you will notice that the car is an early 1.5tsi and, whilst it has had the software updates, it is still not the most refined at very low speeds in first gear.

The red is a little unsightly isnt it... To answer your question that centre console will fit fine. The are all the same design etc just the Monte is red... ironically they no longer do it in red on the newer Montes. Wonder why!
  31. I'll try to find time to have a play around and see what the minimum connectivity requirement is.
  32. Well, I thought, having actually seen on-car shots from both competitors and from a camera looking along the track from behind them that it was more "GR puts 2 wheels on the grass, then blames Valtiri for him having done so". Also highly unimpressed with DC for taking GR's word for it then trying to recant without actually apologising after he realised what happened.

    That’s helpful. Thank you
  34. next time please try the Search function - its amazing how much info u can find!!
  35. The 280/272 engine has bigger brakes, hence they require a 17" spare to clear the brakes. All the others can have a 16" spare.
  36. Try the front spring these crack right at the top of the spring in the wing mount or in the strut cup halfway down the strut right at the end of the spring coil, sometimes you can see the crack if you jack car up and let the strut hang down and use a strong white LED lamp, other times you need to remove spring to see the crack, this is the most common fault but creaking has also been know to come from the wishbone bushes or sometimes from the track control arm, but this usually is more of a clunk rather than a creak from the control arms, wishbones bushes can creak as they start to fail but norally you can see them starting to twist and crack but still worth a look Did have a funny one once the front strut inside the coil spring had a plastic type bellows and that had disstorted and was rubbing on the spring when the car went over speed bumps etc had to use a couple of zip ties to keep it straight and not let it buckle stopped the noise so my mate was happy
  37. When my nearest and dearest are at caravan parks or any such place with gravel tracks and grass i do hope that drivers have full control of their vehicles and are paying particular attention to just touching the accelerator and are ready to apply the brakes.
  38. Which ones have you tried? VAGcar.co.uk in Cannock come up with good reviews and are on the Good Garage Scheme with 100% on their feedback. https://www.goodgaragescheme.com/pages/garage.aspx/6606/VAGCAR+Ltd I have no personal experience in the area, but I've used good garage scheme places at home that I'd go back to again.
  39. Mine has had its annual “deep clean” where all protection is stripped off, it’s fully decontaminated and then polished and coated. Takes a day and half, kills my back but means I know it’s good for the year ahead!
  40. New to this forum, just purchased a 2018 Octavia vRS 245 estate manual and living it so far

Nope, not me - quartz grey estate here.
  42. When we started to look to replace our Yeti nearly 18 months ago we found there was very little choice in our price range and requirements. We needed a petrol following my retirement but it had to be able to tow a 1100 kg caravan and still have a slightly higher seating area. Choice eventually came down to the Hyundai Ioniq, the Kia Niro HEV or a Volvo. The Hyundai would only just fit with the towing requirement, the Volvo was just too damned expensive, so we bought the Niro and are very pleased with it.
  43. Kia Soul is a quirky looking thing that I’d consider

unless ignition off and door open you can press and it will move by one press not a long press
  45. Bit of a quieter month this one, but still going strong. 2tonnes co2, and 160 trees. Here are your trees -> https://ecologi.com/briskoda?treeId=6042020d0be9e4001d36fb76 Hopefully from next month, we'll be adding a UK tree. In a scottish forrest. I'm trying to come up with a way of putting that tree in someone's name. We'd get a geotag and photo, and in theory you can even go and visit it, so the blurb says I'm thinking like a monthly prize Someone from freedom will be that tree's "virtual owner". This is rough and I'm still working it out, but one can hope
  46. My music goes off when the ignition is switched off. Never mind when I lock the door.
