  1. Lets be honest, the Kamiq is not by any stretch of the imagination a SUV, a Crossover or a Soft roader. It is a family size hatchback with a slightly higher roof height and not particularly good ground clearance and no AWD option. The Advertising people might like to include the Kamiq as part of Skoda's SUV range.
  2. New car day for me! I've spent an hour or so negotiating the menus; setting up my keys etc. And I'm very impressed. It's the 2nd skoda I've owned (1st being a 2007 fabia vrs SE) and I'm very glad to have a skoda back on the drive. The car needs a good clean and some attention to the paintwork plus some new centre caps etc. But over all I'm very pleased. Seems to have a great spec including wireless. Charger, heated screen etc. Will no doubt have some questions in the near future, so stand by! Cheers 👍

Do your best for the 280. The thing that really makes it is the 4x4 if you tried it you would not want to go back.
  4. I'd support the detachable version ... the shin crack is very painful .... only downside is the detachable is no protection the the presence of the sh1** head parkers ... I actually had a neighbours visitor came to my door to complain they had cracked their number plate on my towbar .... quickly despatched with a few choice words, note of their registration and examination of any Yeti damage.
  5. .....until I drove a very nice petrol Kodiaq. Same place I bought the Yeti, offered strong money for PX in comparison to my local ŠKODA Dealer, despite their car being one of the least expensive in its age and spec. I’ll be sad to see the YETI go, as it’s been a fabulous car, but I pick up my 6th ŠKODA at the end of the week.
  6. Join the Q mate. This forum is littered with infotainment software issues, glitches, black screens , endless loading circles. Log all probs and tell dealer immediately as the car is not as described and not fit. It reminds me of a air crash investigation show a few years ago. The pilots were fixated on a computer problem on why the engines were a low thrust while the throttles were at full. The pilots only looked at the throttle screen while the plane descended into the ground. A bit of a severe example but when things dont work we get fixated on the screen to try to work the problem ,,, at the expense of driving the car. That is a risk and shouldnt be a risk as the car should have gone through full testing prior to launch. BTW its not just us ,, the Golf 8 has the same problems o hear. As i have said before the Octy and the Golf are the bread and butter of the VW group and the brands really need not annoy their loyal customer base. Skoda may have taken the eye off the ball here as they expand into India and further. Too many users , too many problems , there will be a fix and we can get back onto praising the car again for all the good bits. Stick with it mate , dont give the dealer an inch although not their fault , if we all shout , they must do the right thing by us. Amen Brothers
  7. As above. Removeable also generally a bit more expensive. Whatever you decide PF Jones have a good reputation and please go for the vehicle specific dedicated wiring harness. Colin
  8. Had both. Fixed: You bang your shins if you aren't careful. Always available. Convenient. Removeable: Tidier. You don't walk into it. Need to get on your knees to fit it. Quite heavy. Have been known to get jammed.
  9. Clean looks for the win! Removed mine within the 1st week i think, full rear debadging of the 280/272 looks great imo. Skoda's "4x4" logo for the Haldex system is the worse choice within the group, much more suitable to a pick-up or off-road vehicle but out of place on a Superb. As for the "Skoda Superb" model name, it does not mean anything special in my eyes either, to be worth staying on the car. The fat dual mufflers that protrude slightly from the bottom of the car as well as the dual exhaust tips are still there to give an idea of what's under the bonnet for those in the know Here's what to expect if yours is a hatch too:
  10. At a guess, it'll be a headlight range adjustment for lower spec cars with halogen headlights. It won't do anything on a car with xenon or LED headlights

Yeah agree and the dsg is another one too, I drove my wife’s manual Fabia the other day and I’d never want to go back to a manual now even with the power my 280 has!
  12. I suggest you try spending a couple of nights in one of those Go-Pods before you buy one. They are VERY small.
  13. @Wino Many thanks for your help! It worked perfect...
  14. Hi welcome to the forum, I think you will find that the steering is not actually locking - just getting very 'heavy' due to the electric assisted power-steering disabling on engine-stop. If you do try to turn the wheel, the engine should start. Are your front tyre pressures correct?
  15. To be fair mine was a 4 speed swap to a 6 speed swap
  16. In Estonia we can choose between electronic seats, electronic seats with that configurable cushion and electronic seats with air vents. I thought that mentioned option is available everywhere...
  17. If you enlarge the image you can see the decimal point, and it reads 4.34V. One of the problems of taking readings with a meter is that the supply to some bulbs, such as the brake/side filament, is pulse width modulated so the same filament can be used for both normal and bright applications (brake and side for example). Using a digital meter can give false readings reading due the way it treats a PWM waveform; using a cheap analogue may give a better reading but not fool proof. The other problem is that when the supply is switched off (which it does when a failed bulb is detected) you are left with the leakage current from the driver circuit. A digital meter such as yours will have a very high input resistance and sees that leakage current as low level voltage - hence your 4.34V. [voltage read is IL x Rin ] Best to check your bulbs using a 12V d.c source such as your 12V Aux socket. Also check the bulb mount assembly connections by taking it off the car and using a continuity checker.
  18. I think you need a new tester to start off. I can't see how you can get 43v on a 12v vehicle.
  19. Perhaps the issue is the with the dmf that was fitted. It might not be fitted correctly.
  20. The flaps stick and break up and bits can get sucked into the cylinders. Mine, in my '08 Golf, were comprehensively knackered at 70k miles. Also the bushes for the spindle in the ends of the plastic manifold wear and you get boost leaks from there. Fitting the BKD manifold made my remapped car smoother, more progressive and a lot more economical. If I kept it under 100 on long runs across country it would average 50 mpg.

    Hello Jane Gaz
  22. I think from week 39/2020 is when changes were made to specification Because it is engine type specific, I am guessing the engine was changed to a new emissions rating, and it has not been tested and certified. I don’t really know, but my guesses include needs upgraded cooling, the extra 25kg of kit increase emission rating.
  23. Nope, PD engines don't suffer injector seal problems because the unit injector is actually bolted to the head casting directly and cannot move once fitted. The most likely culprit is fuel running back to the filter bowl and air being drawn in somewhere between the injectors, the tandem pump and the filter bowl. The injectors themselves will be fine and the pump can be rebuilt with new seals pretty easily. Make sure the filter bowl is airtight, this sometimes happens after a fuel filter change.
  24. There's a lot of pub nonsense in tuning, 'every little helps' is for full blown racing engines where small improvements can make a big difference. In the real world there is a hierarchy of mods that really make a difference and it all starts with getting more air and fuel into the cylinders, that means net gasflow, gross flow is irrelevant.
  25. if it shudders to a halt or bang on engine shut down could point to issues in the anti shudder valve or DMF starting to age
  26. Wheel alignment sorted today from Motorsport and performance other side of leeds, camber was all good and nicely even so no need to touch subframe again which was nice. Toe was well out again, now adjusted and driving lovely and straight again . turns in even better now
  27. Reading this thread it seems to me we have got into an unresolvable discussion. Seems to me any speed limit posted up on private ground, whether or not looking like a "proper" speed limit sign is indicative only. It's the land owners decision as to how to enforce the limit and what action to take. I can't see what more needs to be said. Lastly, and so far not mentioned and definitely applicable to diesels (I think the 1.5 tsi as well), letting the car proceed in gear on tickover with no throttle input has the potential to damage the dual mass flywheel. Beware. tom
  28. I'll be back in a couple of days time to let you know how I get on using idle speed in first gear across a slightly bumpy grassed area driving a tetchy 1.5tsi manual Karoq. If I don't reappear, you will know that my experiment failed and that I have been arrested/shot.
  29. They came in 70, 85 and 105 ps. After 2017 there was Service Campaign 34H5 started on DQ200 DSG,s from 2013 to 2015. This was a software update. This is different from 34F7 on DQ200,s from 2009 to 2012 which was synthetic oil changed to mineral and a software update
  30. I don't like the sound of that either, but since I have no idea when they occur, I have no idea what causes them, just that I don't get this issue on VAG, PSA, Ford, Vauxhall or Rover group cars (and haven't in over 30 years)

Hi all once again thanks for the help again head gasket is all changed and done now seems to be fine good job as well as when I came to drain the oil I actually had pure coolant drip out first and the oil was chocolate milkshake bearing in mind it was only changed 3 months ago the gasket was shot.
  32. Removable!! I hit my shin on my fixed towball and ended up in a local hospital for the day, (after driving miles to find one) stitches, bruising and shock.
  33. What exactly do you mean with bore? The center hole is 57.1 mm if this is what you are asking.
  34. Had 2 fixed, both swan neck type, f you want to carry a bike/rack go for a flanged ball fixing, its the easier to mount the rack!
  35. Nasty! Is that a helicoil in your pick-up strainer? (Not a sentence I ever expected to see).
  36. Not a stupid question at all. That's what I've been asking the dealer and they are asking Skoda. What does your VIN plate state?
  37. Stick a set of 20's on from the Kodiaq ,, im sure i have no idea what im talking about and have no idea on spacers
  38. You'd think in this day and age that puncture proof tyres might be possible! But I guess the tyre companies don't have much incentive to make them. Had my 220 3 weeks now and loving it. It's a 2017 with 4600 miles on it when I got it so a good find. Plenty quick enough so the 280 must be very exciting! Take care
  39. Could just be your alternator drawing more engine power to charge the batter too. It does happen to my car too. The gearing might be longer in my A3 because it's a 5 speed but she does pick up in 3rd for sure.
  40. Silikat bag burst blocking matrix. Replacement the only solution. Plenty info/posts on here.
  41. It might just be this, J519 (Central Electrics) top, Instruments bottom. Those are the drive CAN connections. There's also a 'wake up' connection, pin 11 of the same connector at J519 to pin 24 of the instruments connector, but I don't know what is waking up what or whether it needs to be connected to get the two modules communicating.
  42. If you drive it with a blanking plate and no emulator/simulator it will go into limp mode and show a fault code something like Mass air flow sensor implausible reading, without the EGR gases more filtered air will be flowing into the engine than it would expect, thats what the emulator/simulator does, it detects when the EGR is being commanded by the ECU fiddles with the output from the mass airflow sensor to give the result the ECU expects. If you can have the EGR replaced FOC then go ahead but be aware that they will also do the emissions fix if it has not been done and the car then may not be the same car that you have enjoyed driving all this time, the emulator/simulators are cheap, very easy to fit ad dont change anything other than stopping the intake tract & throttle valve from becoming gunged up. Glad that you have found the problem.
  43. Mine has had its annual “deep clean” where all protection is stripped off, it’s fully decontaminated and then polished and coated. Takes a day and half, kills my back but means I know it’s good for the year ahead!

Ordered mine on 30th November, wk49. Notified by dealer build week was wk2. Car arrived at dealer 5th March, wk 9. So, approx 12/13 weeks in my case.
  45. Your mileage, wallet and common sense will tell you whether you should buy a 272/280. You won’t regret the traction it offers. I saw a lovely Aprilia RSV4 sport bike yesterday in a friend’s garage. He said he could have continued reading all the reasons why not to buy one, or just go out and get it. He reasoned correctly that you only get one life, so decided to stop messing around.
  46. My new purchase - absolutely over the moon with this bad boy!!!
