  1. The medical has been completed, the personal terms agreed and I can now complete my free transfer to the Octavia forum after taking delivery today. Thank you for all the help and advice you've given me over the years. I've had four Superbs; three were as near perfect as makes no difference and the fourth was still the fourth-best car I've ever driven. They're just too big now for me to drive round town (and especially park) comfortably and the Octavia is also a lot cheaper. I hope it lives up to its predecessors.
  2. . Yep - I get this from time to time and like you, I mostly cancel it. The one time I didn't and pressed okay in a moment of blind panic, nothing happened. Well, nothing happened at the time; by the next morning the steering wheel had moved across to the passenger side. This wouldn't have been a huge deal (I lived in the States for a few years and kind of got used to driving on the right) except that the pedals had remained where they were supposed to be, and in attempting to reverse out of the drive to take the car to the dealers I contrived to get the gearchange lever stuck up the leg of my shorts and had to get Mrs Phutters to rescue me with a large pair of scissors. .

And there we have it, ordered February 13th and picked up yesterday evening. So around 14 weeks in total which is pretty good I'd say.
  4. Mick's in Ireland. Actually as a uk resident, what you need is a family member that happens to live in Ireland (europe) within a short drive of a hermes dropoff shop across the Northern Irish border. Allegedly.

Nice one best colour and shape too #meteorestate = best estate. The tech seem okay? When you go on familiar roads and switch from sport to comfort I think you can really feel the difference man.

I think fighting the big man is fine @e-Roottoot, just online snipes at individuals and what life opportunities or qualifications are open to them is unfair. I think anyone who's been on this forum for longer than a few days can start to realise the dissonance between what is good customer service and "oh, that's the first time we've heard of that error. We'll contact Skoda HQ."

You must be one of the last customers to get meteor grey before it got discontinued your car looks great shame I couldn’t have that colour did you add any toys?
  8. The 4x4 does handle a lot better and of course it is better on snow than a 2wd.. yes the 2wd with winters is ok and gets through most British winters but the 4x4 is another level. Also helps with getting out of muddy festival fields.. I’ve had both 2wd and 4wd. Also depends on how you drive but 4x4 does work very well in the wet when pulling out of junctions and in standing water situations.. I do 2k miles a month in mine and notice the subtle differences the 4x4 makes over the 2wd. Fuel economy is compromised slightly though and servicing costs are higher because of haldex oil changes and filter cleans every 30k. Mine isn’t the raised option though. I have the sportline and it’s lowered. My reason for buying 4x4 was handling, surefootedness and because were go snowboarding and skiing in Europe regularly
  9. I have had several tuning boxes and remaps on my cars during last decade and no one has improved the fuel economy. Makes sense - the map I am using on Kodiaq added 52 HP and 100 Nm. How the hell could it be possible with reduced economy? If you read the terms (very tiny letters usually), the tuning software / hardware producers claim the economy is achieved only and only through the faster acceleration (car reaches max speed faster therefore uses less fuel). However there are boxes/remaps that can reduce the fuel economy, but they will cut a fair amount of horses off the engine.
  10. They arrived a few days ago, and they're very cute: Gaz
  11. I had a Roomster with the 105hp and I had trouble with the EGR valve after five years which I had to replace and then after another three years the first injector went. After getting that replaced I traded the car in on a Karoq. The car did mainly short runs throughout its life but I was impressed withhow long it was able to do so before the problems started. And the performance was pretty decent along with the fuel economy. These will only be better in a Fabia.

You can always over-ride ACC and front assist with the accelerator
  13. Hi HeavyMetalRich, Sorry not got back sooner Pc probs, Many Thanks again for your very helpful instruction on the testing. It now gives me some idea of what I should be looking for.. Best Regards Max

I know it's annoying the not remembering setting thing, but we just have to get used to: mode button press, individual, mode button press and your done. Moving between my partners Mk5 golf and this is loads more of a mind ****, manual handbrake and everything!
  15. Or a bit of all of the above. 👍 Any excuse for a snowy pic!

@Nider - Stop messing about with things you clearly don't understand. The stereo head is coded to the car, and the "new" one won't work because it's not in the car it's coded to.

  18. Hola mi amigo, como estas? Have you ever manage to see the temperature i Celsius of your coolant except the gauge on the panel? Have you installed another gauge or take measures via a laptop or a smartphone application?
  19. Thorough checks at my main dealer is a joke ! A PDI from my dealer is a pipe dream 🤣 do your own checks and see if they get rectified 🤔
  20. Don’t book it in to get to changed, book it in to diagnose the problem first!
  21. 6Jx15 ET38 Pepperpots weigh about 5.5kg each without the tyres. They are amazingly light. According to "eshop skoda cz", standard 6Jx15 ET38 alloy rims on the Fabia MK3 are between 7.5kg and 8.8kg. So normal rims add between 8kg and 13.2kg to the weight of the car. Even the lightest 7.5kg Fabia MK3 alloy rims will add 8kg to the weight of the car, and this is revolving weight which affects acceleration more than just adding 8kg to the non-rotating weight of the car. Let's say the standard Fabia MK3 does 0-60mph in 10 seconds on the lightest standard 7.5kg alloy rims. Changing to 5.5kg Pepperpots could knock that 0-60mph time down to about 9.9 seconds, ie. almost a 1% improvement in acceleration. However, running 185/60R15 tyres rather than 215/45R16 tyres, will make a much bigger improvement to the fuel consumption than the change to lightweight rims. Perhaps a 3% improvement from the change in tyre size and 0.5% improvement from the change in rim weight.
  22. I never mentioned this. I have enabled rear DRL's with VCDS. @john999boy & @PetrolDave The caravan ignores the DRL setting. I would just like the caravan tail lights to come on if the cars DRL's are on.
  23. Either that or it might have had non-OE replacements in the past as modern car springs just love to snap.
  24. If your car has a fault, dealer has one chance to rectify it, not multiple goes. So unless this is a new different fault you can reject now because you notified them and they failed to remedy it. When you say your contract is with VWFS, I presume you mean a lease (PCH where H is hire) or rental. They are the owners of the car, if it is faulty you deal with them for refund/replacement etc. If you have a PCP (second P is purchase) then your contract is with supplying dealer. No one else. The finance companys only interest is loan being repaid (nothing related to maintaining or fixing the car). You have no relationship with Skoda UK, they won’t process any refund so don’t waste your time asking them. The dealers have their own commercial contract with Skoda UK, but it has no legal link to your contract with dealer (so an excuse like we are talking to Skoda UK is just a delaying excuse), how the dealer subsequently claims from Skoda UK is irrelevant to you and your refund shouldn’t be delayed. If dealer doesn’t like way Skoda UK is behaving, not your problem, they need to use clauses in their commercial contract.
  25. Chris, Think it probably is a red herring as I've made no changes to anything, either in the car or on my app, seems like this Skoda / VW infotainment system is not bug free....🤭🤭
  26. No reason why it wouldnt if the sensor was in good shape. The local scrapyard to me will check parts over before selling them.
  27. a remap doubled the BHP ??????????
  28. @numskull alternative from Ali isn't perfect, but enough cheep to forgive it -> https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/454623-what-have-you-done-to-your-superb-iii-today/page/34/?tab=comments#comment-5357529
  29. Just to add to my post above..... i have NOT had the fix done..... this may add to why i have had zero major issues and just the usual little things go wrong.
  30. I gave up after 2 sets of replacement Skoda emblem wheel centres which all corroded within 18 months & went with all black plastic ones, nothing to corrode & they match the car colour.
  31. G12, G13 and G12++/evo coolants are all compatible. Check for silicate bag in coolant expansion tank, advisable to remove if possible - or replace tank.
  32. I did Glasgow to North Wales and back in a day on one tankfull in ny 2028 1.4tsi. 720 miles. 70mph on the motorway going down and 75ish coming home. Brim to brim was 47mpg. Included an hour of slow stop start passing Liverpool on the return. From memory the fill up was just over 70l.
  33. So the inside/outside patches failed miserably.... Tube now in until tyre is worn out. A bit of a service/clean in the outdoor workshop after the garden work ready for the w/e, more of a B than a full one 😏 Note the highly technical equipment to prevent the patio from getting any dirtier 🤭

Active Cylinder Technology. (COD with Audi, Cylinders on demand.) That is where the 2 cylinders shut down when the load / power is not required. Some complain about how that feels. and many never even notice it occurring. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/464630-15-tsi-act-vibration-and-noise http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/472276-the-kangaroo-is-dead
  35. It's the electronic waterpump (not the cam driven waterpump). When my car displayed that code it was a broken wire although I also had the pump replaced - £83 from TPS.
  36. Sorry meant to check today, will double check over the weekend.
  37. It is not generally available as it is a known fault with the Head Units fitted to some cars. Check out the Topic KPH/MPH in this group. Many owners have had their cars bought back my Skoda as there is a legality issue under the Construction & Use Regs. The long sad saga is well documented under that topic together with the contact details of senior members of Skoda UK with whom many of us have had contact. Sorry to hear you may have the issue and hope that you are able to obtain a satisfactory resolution.
  38. Sounds like it's fully functional apart from the 'vibration/resistance' through the steering wheel. If Skoda UK say your car should do that, then the dealers that did the new camera install have got it wrong somewhere. Hopefully it may be something really simple like tha multi-pin connector for the wiring harness on the camera needs 'wiggling'. I had a Vectra that started running roughly - company car and dealers replaced just about every engine sensor going 'cos that's what the plug in diagnostic told them to do' but to no avail. It went in for its last service just before I got a new company car and I said it was still running 'rough'. When I collected it the lady mechanic came out to see me and advised that they couldn't find a fault. However she had undone and re-connected all the engine management sensors in case that cured it. Blow me, the drive home was like having a new car again! Shame it went back to fleet auction a week or two later. Regrettably most dealers workshops are driven by plug in diagnostics and thus simple things like iffy connections are not considered - besides they can bill more to replace what they believe is a faulty sensor, rather than actually think for themselves and try a more appropriate solution.

If it is an electrical connector then it sure aint a VAG one, no sealing or latching evident. If it is an electrical connector then the pins look to be male Lucar ones which makes it very old and very unsophisticated, definitely something aftermarket like a cheap alarm or for auxiliary driving lamps.
  40. Go into the info on the nav screen and it'll show how may satellites it can "see" In an open area, less than 8 or 9 and you have a bad signal, if its 0 and you're out in the open, a bad roof aerial is most likely and quite common
  41. Lots to consider. Only done 18,000 miles but how many months old is the car? ? How often does it get used and how far do you drive and do you use the brakes much or do you maybe use the gears to slow more than the brakes. Do you live and park at the sea side or are you where there was lots of gritting / salting of the roads. When there is an e-Brake there is not the same way available of applying the parking brake a bit to clean off cosmetic rust at the start of trips.
  42. Having difficulties to upload pics. But heres one of the wheel.
  43. A pleasure meeting you @SashaGrace and I'll echo the comments of others - thanks for a very professional job of installing the camera, the bonus coding tweaks and tea. If you're thinking of installing a reversing camera etc I can't recommend her enough!
  44. Had the pleasure of doing another camera on @JBD1974’s lovely Superb which is another one that is almost my cars twin!!

  46. it handles great but as I already have a diesel vrs I know I prefer the running costs of the diesel for the journeys that I do the petrol costs me 25% more as I just get carried away with the power . Its to much fun to drive and I dont want a single speeding offence on my license . it picks up speed without me realising and so I want another diesel . Until then ill drive around spending more time looking at my speedo than the rd . I'm not into modded cars I like things legal and factory standard
  47. Yup! thats the reason for the autum coolant change. now we have 15° 25° temps maximum and when gets really cold 1°/ 10° I preffer to do constant coolant changes as we all know this waterpump is made of paper jejejeje VIVA GRECIA!
