    Wolfsburg?
  2. From the photo it looks to be the support for the variofloor, if it were flush then the floor would fall down! The aperture looks to be for the luggage lashing hook. Editted, my suggestion is that the supports can be pushed back by hand if you remove the variofloor and want to use the full width to carry something. Simply Clever!
  3. Whoever fitted your tow bar would have needed access behind the rear panels, so they’ve probably either forgot to reconnect the socket when re fitting, or blown the fuse.

  5. Mine's the 1.2Tsi Toledo I had similar happen nearly 3 years ago. The battery was fine but when a proper check was done it was found to be low in power, that was after a long run. In a nutshell it said it needed a throttle position sensor changing, not correct, a new battery fitted and it's been fine ever since. Never took it to a SEAT dealer, my local garage sussed it out, he said they get a few VAG cars in with similar issues, they always start the fault finding process with a battery check.

I agree, only the senior master tec at my dealer seems to have a good understanding of the system, the senior tec is quite good but really follows a tick list. I seem to be developing a greater understanding of my cars computer systems fec codes etc than I ever wished to so I can explain to the dealer what is wrong and what they need to do to fix it. I have had issues with swap/ fec codes vanishing after they fixed one software issue, then they replaced one missing fec code which vanished when they reflashed the system to correct a communication error with Skoda assist, but removed another, it is extremely irritating that they let themselves down on these issues, especially as the product is generally so good. Functions vanishing is very irritating. I have similar issues with Toyota and online services and updates in the past which was eventually solved after escalation to European HQ and software co but that was a decade ago. It is all hassle customers just don’t want or need.
  7. Some awesome looking cars here, haven't seen any other colours here in Aus apart from white and black. Just hit 1000km on my RS. Installed a front lip and blacked out the badges over the weekend before trying one of those DIY ceramic coat sprays. Black rims and new exhaust are on the list at some point Would love to lower it but don't want to destroy the stock struts with lowering springs so maybe coilovers in the future.
  8. Take it up with your insurer. The body shop that was approved to do the work should have included in the price they had approved by the insurer full electronic check and alignment of steering as and then before doing bodywork could have had full alignment checks done. They under quoted for the job that they had to do.
  9. Looks a bit like it's been cracked during a clumsy previous removal, then someone's tried to melt it with a soldering iron tip to re-fuse the cracked plastic.
  10. Went for a wee dander today.
  11. @FlyingGecko Octavia vRS certainly do have different boxes as in wet clutch DSG's rather than DQ200's as fitted to 1.4TSI & all other front wheel drive VW Group engines with no more than 192 ps or 250 Nm. The Polo GTI 1.8 TSI from 2015 has 192 ps and 250Nm with the DSG but 320Nm with the Manual. PLenty with Mk2 vRS Fabia (these have DQ200 DSG only) which are 188ps & 250Nm have them remapped to Stage 1 and get 200ps Plus and over 300 Nm and have run them for years, some even go Stage 2 with a standard DQ200, and some fit uprated clutch packs and modified software.
  12. This seems to come up pretty frequently so here are a few screenshots to show the process. First step is to download the maps to your computer, you have three choices: - download from Skoda - download from VW - use MartiniB's direct links The direct links are easiest and updated quite quickly, these are probably the latest, updated Nov '22: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/508188-amundsen-mib2-map-updates-20232024 Warning: The full Europe maps no longer fit on a 16GB card without modification. The smaller ECE 1-7 versions should be fine Bit more info regarding which files to delete can be found here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/498473-amundsen-mib2-map-updates-202223/?do=findComment&comment=5592747 Downloading maps (Skoda) Goto https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ and enter your VIN. Choose whichever maps you'd like. For this guide, I choose the European maps. Click download and wait until they are on your computer. Copying the maps to your SD card (Skoda) Once the download has completed, we can copy the maps to your SD card. - Remove the SD card from your car and make sure the 'lock' tab is in the unlock position (it should be in the position that's closest to the gold/silver contacts) - Then plug the SD card into your computer - Optional step, you can copy the files from the SD card as a backup if you'd like. I don't bother but it's your call. Start 'File Explorer' and find your SD card. In my case it shows up as D:\ but it could be another letter on your computer. Right click on the SD card and select format. People have differing options on the format options, you can see what I used below. Once the format is complete, right click on the maps you downloaded earlier and select 'Extract All...' from the submenu. You need to change the destination folder to match your SD card. In my case it's 'D:\' but you may need 'E:\', 'F:\' etc. Click 'Extract'. And wait! Time will depend on your computer and SD card slot. When it's complete, right click and eject the SD card. Not all computers will show this option. You can now remove the SD from your computer and slide the 'lock' tab is in the lock position (it should be in the position that's furthest from the gold/silver contacts). Downloading maps (VW) Goto https://app-connect.volkswagen.com/mapupdates/car/#download and select 'Golf' then 'Golf from 2017' then 'Discover Media'. There are various options but that should be fine for the MIB2/MIB2.5 Amundsen. Click download and wait until they are on your computer. Copying the maps to your SD card (VW) You'll need to install some extra software called 7-Zip to use the VW maps, it's freely available from: https://www.7-zip.org/ Once the download has completed, we can copy the maps to your SD card. - Remove the SD card from your car and make sure the 'lock' tab is in the unlock position (it should be in the position that's closest to the gold/silver contacts) - Then plug the SD card into your computer - Optional step, you can copy the files from the SD card as a backup if you'd like. When it's complete, right click and eject the SD card. Not all computers will show this option. You can now remove the SD from your computer and slide the 'lock' tab is in the lock position (it should be in the position that's furthest from the gold/silver contacts).
  13. Well she's right to be upset with you, I'm upset with you as you didn't RtFM! I'm joking I'm not upset with you but I've hope you've learnt to RtFM! Is the steering lock sorted? Is the locking of all doors sorted? I'm going to get you some straightforward general info for your car and I don't want you feel patronised by it because I learnt a couple of things from it and I thought I'd read the manual (but I do forget stuff too). Now make yourself a mug of tea (coffee if you really must), sit down for a bit and relax.
  14. Its 7p per litre more everywhere I look.
  15. Have you tried this above? Thanks, AG Falco

just wonder why skoda are still taken orders for cars that they have no idea when they are going get delivered.it makes you wonder how all the motoring mags and online car firms are not raising this issue.i was offered another car but on looking there is not great lot of cars available and the ones that are have gone up in price due to semi conductor shortages so profiteering going on and customers are the ones who are suffering.
  17. Chris, my experience of my wife's 1.2 TSI is that starting from cold it can be a little rough sounding and feeling as @xman put. I try to never just start a car and just pull off, I like to check the warning lights at switch on as I put my seatbelt on before starting the engine and then check what goes out or stays on shortly after starting and listen to the engine but even doing this the engine is a bit uneven for a short while after pulling off and very shortly having to give way and stop at two close junctions. Do have a good read of the 'Operating Instructions' booklet as it has a lot of useful information, if not the best or easiest read and keep your car battery in good order (keyfobs too) as the computers don't like low batteries and can easily get their panties in a twist. You only need normal revs to pull away.
  18. Welcome to my life of idle judder, have had it since I got the car nearly 4 years ago. I've replaced sparkplugs, filters and done an inspection for carbon build up but nothing out of the norm. The MST turbo intake does help alleviate the problem when changing gears or pulling away The car isn't a diesel and will require a bit of revs to get going, the engine usually bumps the revs a bit automatically if you are too low which can be seen as stuttering/makes the car jumpy. For a smooth pull away, I usually target 2-2.5k RPM. Annoying but required. I too came from diesel before this and still haven't perfected pulling away.
  19. I would go for a reskin. A few years back I did similar damage to a front door. The body shop quoted £250 to repair the damage and they had several goes, but each time I could see a ripple in the repaired panel. Eventually they said they couldn't do any better and came out with the phrase " we should have reskinned ". The final attempt was much better than the first attempt. To be fair to the body shop, the door looked great at first sight but where they left the car for me to inspect it showed up the ripple in reflections of a nearby wall. It became simple to move around to see the fault after that. They always agreed with me about the ripple but explained to me that once a panel is stretched it is almost impossible to get flat again. We parted on good terms and I would recommend them to anybody. You should also consider the colour of your car and how easy it is to match the shade.
  20. No, just the sump plug and filter.
  21. That sounds like you're not extracting the maps? Try this guide:

Looking through this thread, it seems a lot of you are being fobbed off by Skoda who should be taking this dangerous fault very seriously. It needs reporting to the DVSA via this link by everyone who has been affected :- Vehicle recalls and faults: Report a serious safety defect - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Hopefully the DVSA will then force VW into a safety recall for all affected vehicles.
  23. Many thanks, JR. Blimey ! I can't believe two things.....firstly that I have been that dumb and secondly that someone responded so quickly. I have jsut had a detailed look over the boot 'Variofloor' and it does appear that these are indeed supports for the floor - no idea why I didn't spot it the first time! I've had Fords for so long, I will have to get used to the Skoda terminaology and way of doing things - which are totally new to me. Many thanks for you help.
  24. The latest full Europe maps no longer fit on a 16GB card Obvious options are to buy a 32GB Skoda/VW card or use a map version with fewer countries installed so it's smaller. I think some files can be removed to make it fit on a 16GB card but I can't remember which...
  25. Same place mine was. So it’s going to being around the housing somewhere.
  26. I'm also in Australia and @TheUltraRunner is correct. Just have to enable it in settings.
  27. My take on this. Even if you do not use the ACC, if it was faulty you would have had an error warning on the dash. Did you? Is it possible that the wheel got hit in the incident? If not, and the alignment "was massively out" I think you would have felt the car pulling to one side & have uneven wear on the tyres.
  28. I have only ever seen the volume bar during adjustment.
  29. I really should learn to stop trying to self diagnose on Google... My biggest concern now dare I say it is head gasket but there's no white smoke.. no milky residue and it drives fine plus I haven't heard many gaskets blown from these engines so again let's hope I'm just being a paranoid Pete!!!
  30. For AXR in 2005 Polo there's only two solenoids inside the vacuum box, no N18 valve. The N75 charge pressure control solenoid has its 12V feed on pin 3 of the connector, blue/black wire, and its engine ECU connection on pin 5, a lilac/white wire going to ECU pin 62. The N239 Variable intake manifold flap changeover valve has its 12V feed on pin 4 of the connector, blue/black wire, and its engine ECU connection on pin 6, a brown/white wire going to ECU pin 61.
  31. Cheers thanks, good to know. makes the search a little broader.
  32. The volume bar is only visible when making adjustments and not permanently on my Kodiaq.

I may have got it backwards regarding the EGR operation during a DPF regen, its late now so I wont go searching but I printed out and laminated a very good and understandable thesis on the subject, its in my workshop in France but I will be back there in a few days for a flying visit so will check. Interesting to read Valhallas thoughts, my emulator does indeed fiddle with the outputs from both the EGR potentiometer and the MAF sensor. I understand what he says about the thermal management of regens but is that something that actually goes on or theoretical supposition on his part? Would stopping all O2 from passing through not affect the engine power or emissions? Does soot and oil ash actually burn so hot as to be too hot? I thought the burning was provoked by post combustion injection of fuel to be scavenged directly to the DPF, in that case the logical thing would be to stop that if the DPF temperature gets too high, what he is talking about sounds like a chimney fire but can that actually happen? If you think that it can an does then I need to do some live data recording (not that I know how!) during a regen both with and without the emulator. I dont like having something that I dont understand how it works, with this I do but I am in doubt as to whether I know all the consequences, I am a chancer in life but like to know when I am taking a risk and what the outcome could be.
  34. meh, depending on the weather and where the car is parked up it could easily still be "half hot" after a couple of hours. when my insignia was losinh coolant i could watch it steaming out from the bonnet shut lines when i was sitting in traffic sometimes. i always kept it topped up until we found the source and it was grand. that engine was just terrible in a hundred ways anyway, but had no bad incidents during the hunting... driving around with 2 gallons of coolant in the boot at all times for a couple of weeks was nerve racking though...

The timing belt itself is only part of the issue, many "cambelt" failures are actually tensioner failures. My car is now 12 years old if I still have it in a few years I may well take the calculated risk not to get the belt done again as the car will have little value if the belt did break. I also believe that the pd engines are harder on belts due to their design.
  36. Closest we've ever got to the Heron!

I doubt they think there is any need, but there's money to be had, and upselling to do once they have the car in their hands. "We noticed that your brake discs/pads/fluid; aircon; blinker fluid...."
  38. Yes it will...might need an adaptor harness to convert the stereo to the DIN connector block..but these are easy to find...also disconnect the grey wire from the loom & tape as its the OBD11 diagnostic cable which only works with the OEM stereo..You might also need to swap over the live & switch 12V wires on the stereo side... All easy..did it to my old Fabia years ago... Heres a thread on the wiring pin outs....first post has all the details..I did this a few years back! 39. Funnily enough, it was in the garage a month ago getting the new dashcam hardwired to a permanently-live fuse, but I have the (perhaps false) feeling that the rear traffic alert has been quiet for longer than that. Whatever the case, why is it possible to turn off these safety features at all? Incidentally, the wife assures me that she still loves me and couldn't live without me, so it can't be that.
  40. One of us is being a bit dense here, and I don't think it's me. My car has an intermittent wiping function with four selectable speeds, which can be used with automatic rain-sensing function if required. It also has continuous wiping with two speed options to which, as far as I can determine, the rain-sensing function does not apply, except that on about four occasions in the last four and a half years it has decided to temporarily apply it of its own accord.
  41. I also accidentally found something similar in mine although it looks a different colour so may be for something else? I was advised mine was for "It is used by the factory to measure moisture in the car. Just tuck them under the trim - they are redundant."
  42. Sorry, I don't get on here much nowdays🤔🤔🤔
  43. Kinda, there's a 250Nm torque limiter on 1st & 2nd gear but, 3rd throu to 7th is unlimited, my DTUK box got me to 323Nm
  44. Hello Skoda enthusiasts Here is my MY18 Octavia vRS on the day I first laid eyes on it 2 weeks ago 😊
  45. Why on Earth do you need to hear the engine running?
  46. PS The REVO Stage 1 or 2 on the 1.4 TSI / TFSI 132-136 kW Twincharger engines was really poor. Not a good upgrade and REVO were in denial. The APR map was much better. Not so sure on a Euro 6 150PS 1.4 TSI being taken to 200ps. ? Are APR saying this is on 98 ron? when actually it would be 97 ron or 99 ron Super Unleaded as nobody in the UK sells 98 ron and have not for about 8 years now. ............................ I do not see where APR are listing the Euro 6 1.4 TSI (Turbo not Twincharger) Stage 1 remap. http://goapr.co.uk I see the Mk2 Octavia Euro 5 1.4 TSI listed. http://onlyrevo.com They are showing the 1.4 TSI ACT engines. UK Warranties from Remappers / Tuning Box sellers in the UK is on their Product and Fitters Workmanship, not on an engine going pop. The Warranties offered in other World Regions and the cost of the product can be very much more expensive because they are giving proper insurance against failures. Read T&C's and exclusions very closely, even with Bluefin.
  47. Thanks e-Root, that's the most comprehensive and informative post I've seen anywhere detailing the DSG boxes across the Skoda range. It clears so much of the fog.
  48. Another +1 for using car polish. If you had the time to wetsand and then buff them i'd go for it. Toothpaste works but doesnt last long at all.
  49. I tried mine in a similar way to mk-83. Door opened at 4 mins, didn’t at 5 mins then moved key slightly and door opened.
  50. Hi folks, please forgive me if I waffle on but thought I’d create a post following an extremely positive experience with a detailer I’ve just used. Having had cars detailed previously by others and suffering a level of OCD when it comes to looking after my car, I can’t tell you how chuffed I am with Advance detail. I contacted Jon at Advance after noticing a few little bits on the car with it now being little over two years old. The car itself was owned by Auric Goldfinger, a very active member on here and it’s clearly been cherished. Over the years unavoidable minor marks have been inflicted from washing, the gloss b pillars have inevitably marked and a good general decontamination was needed after going through the dealer used car prep. The car was booked in and within a few weeks Jon was able to get me in for a silver detail which was then protected with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra, something only available through the accredited network. In my opinion Jon and his colleague Luke have done a fantastic job and I hope my pictures do it justice. The paintwork looks like new, the panels feel like glass, the beading is fantastic and he’s even added Paint protection film to delicate areas. I want to make it clear I’ve not received a discount on this process and I’m in no way linked to Advance detail. I honestly think that when someone does something just right that you pay for it’s worth the recognition. If nothing else hopefully you like the pictures, if my review helps one person who’s on the fence of what to get done or where to go then that just a bonus. All the best folks.
