  1. i made that doc myself, based on the Tried and Tested VCDS codes for Superb, and other OBDeleven discussions. VCDS Coding v1.1 - Superb MY17 - JR.pdf
  2. On that basis, Berndt Maylander is 16th in the driver standings, 1 point behind George Russell!
  3. I've never considered that side and rear glass was covered by windscreen cover and I'm with Admiral But, here are the part numbers LHS rear door glass 5J6 845 205 J for clear glass, K for normal tinted glass, L for tinted but darker tint beyond B pillar LHS rear fixed glass inc bits 5J6 845 209 AF for clear glass > 29/09/13 AJ for clear glass 30/09/13 onwards AG for normal tinted > 29/09/13 AK for normal tinted 30/09/13 onwards LHS rear fixed glass inc bits AH for tinted by darker beyond B pillar > 29/09/13 AL for tinted but darker beyond B pillar 30/09/19 onwards Edit:- would an emergency temp fix with plexi glass not work and be easier at least for your insurer to arrange? Another edit:- I've assumed that your car is not a combi.
  4. Well, it's time for an update I think! First of all, I passed my driving test! So now insurance is a little bit more expensive than before! Secondly, the wee red nugget is still going as strong as before! Managed to average 50.4mpg on it somehow. I'm highly doubtful of that figure but here we are. And a little snap of the car itself. Unless you're hard of sight or just genuinely unobservant, you'll notice the plastic wheel trims are gone! This is because I have a set of Sport/Bohemia alloys going on it tomorrow hopefully since they were declared on my new policy! I shall post a photo with the alloys soon.
  5. They are made of a special spage age alloy tin foil thats both flexible yet brittle and also corrodes faster than a Fiat, work hardens as well with the flapping around, took years to develop, earlier examples were not as succesfull as some of them were lasting more than 2 years. If the second one is not as corroded and fractured as the first it will be by the time I have finished typing this. They cost only slightly more to buy than the two soft drinks can that they are made from.
  6. Modern engines running modern oil really do not benefit from any additives these days. And indeed, there is evidence that they can even do more harm than good. Also, as you have stated, if you bother to use decent fuels like Shell V-Power, or the new Esso Synergy, they have decent additive packs anyway which do the job of keeping the fuel system, inlet valve stems and combustion chamber nice and clean for you. Combine that with a sympathetic driving regime like this: After starting, warm the engine gently by driving in a low gear, keeping the load on the engine low whilst it is warming up - and I mean the oil fully warmed, not just the coolant. When the engine is fully warmed right through, don't be scared to give the car a decent caning on wide-open throttle once in a while. Then when you are nearing your destination, drive gently for the last few minutes, then once stationary, allow the engine to idle for a minute before shutting down. Yes, I know that turbo-charged Skoda have an auxiliary water pump which runs coolant round the turbo after shut-down, but to me, this is still best practice as it allows the oil to flow through the turbo as it cools as well. And you'll have no problems! This regime has served me well for cars and motorbikes, including race engines, over my 35 year driving and racing career! It's all about having just a little mechanical sympathy and using decent fluids. Hope this helps!
  7. Hello Briskodians, I would like to offer a repair service for some types of electric window motor module as fitted to a few Skoda models, as well as one or two VWs. At this stage it applies only to two specific, exact part numbers fitted to the driver's side front door, as follows: 6Y2959802 Fitted to later Mk1 Fabia, from around October 2004. 6Y1959801 Fitted to Very early Mk2 Fabia and Roomster until end of October 2007; as well as 9N3 Polo and a few Transporters. (And some late 9N Polos I have learned). Private Message me a VIN if you'd like me to check whether your car has this part number fitted. (As described a few posts below, either of the above part numbers + suffix A on the end can also be repaired. Also happy to try with units of the subsequent generation, with part numbers 6Q1959801F, G, H, or J.) Note that both of these are driver's side units, the difference in part numbering is due to the orientation/positioning of the motor module on the panels they mount to. These parts suffer a type of intermittent, progressive failure where they 'sometimes work fine, sometimes don't work at all'. Eventually they just completely stop working. This is what I can fix for you. I will test your faulty unit, confirm the problem, repair it to full working order and post it back to you for £59, total. You'd post it to me - less than 1Kg so can be sent for around £4.25 on a tracked24 service purchased online at Royal Mail. I would aim to turn it round within 2 days of receipt, and send it back tracked24. This is the what the part looks like: Central locking via remote will still work in the absence of the window module, so you will be able to secure the car as normal while it is away. Obviously you'll want to ensure that both front windows are fully shut, as in the absence of the driver's side module the passenger side one will not operate. New units are no longer available from Skoda/VW, and ebay 2nd hand ones with these part numbers tend to go for big bucks. I will charge you just £59 including return postage. Cheers, Pete Edit 30/08/25: To get in touch, please click on my username which will take you to my profile, with contact info.
  8. Good evening ladies and Gents, thought it was about time i started a thread about my car, i know there's a few fabia's with a similar spec to mine but i "think" i was the first to have the RTMG hybrid in the UK, although theres now quite a lot and some have the upgraded 380rs whereas i have the 360rs, will add photos soon when i get on home laptop. I only ever had one target in mind for the car, to be able to get my kids in it to do dad stuff, then go to Pod and suprise some people. Current spec is as follows. Wossners forged pistons ZRP forged rods Custom/Universal intercooler, Custom 3inch exhaust RTMG 360rs Hybrid turbo with upgraded actuator etc RTMG Diverter RTMG carbon intake RTMG Kevlar clutch RTMG turbo intake pipe RTMG ecu and tcu mapping RTMG battery tray (turns it 90 degrees) RTMG coil pack adapter R8 coil packs AEM water meth setup iBoost boost controller with meth controller as part of it. (brilliant bit of kit, boost by gear/rpm, full obd monitoring etc) 312mm Brakes Corbeau Bucket seats. Full Wrap. Being fitted in 2 weeks, - RTMG valve springs and BC racing BR series coilovers, after that i don't really know what else there is to do on the fabia lol. other than going big turbo but the cost doesn't interest me, thinking of buying a 7 seater then i can put the fabia on a diet.
  9. My 280 is due a service soon, booked online for a Minor, but unsure if that's what is needed. Got a call back from the Main Dealers service department (or their receptionist) firstly to say the online system was a week behind where they are taking bookings, no big deal, but slightly annoying. Said it to the guy that I wasn't sure what service was due, could he check the Digital Service Plan system and let me know, car was always looked after by another Skoda Main Dealer. He says they don't have access to it, now very confused, is that not why they all got rid of Service Books??? Have emailed them with the concerns, just not what I would have expected at all. I'm far from a snowflake, but have had my last cars for 8 and 10 years and plan the same for the 280 and want to keep it right. Especially after making it my own 🤩 The selling dealer did give me the history of the car, but is all listed as 'Flexible oil change service' then extras listed. I work on semi-conductor machinery and always have a clear maintenance schedule. Please tell me I'm not asking too much to ask the Main Dealer Network to know the service intervals???
  10. So this weekends ride was a little different.... Last Aug Bank Holiday was a few days away at OH"s cousins in North Wales and a Saturday ride with her hubby up in the Snowdonia Park.... Hot, puncture at start, straight into a mile plus of 15%+ climbing and a fried breakfast = stopping, dizziness and being physically sick. Better prepared this year... Lighter breakfast, higher up in the car and the Whyte not the Felt 👍.... errrrmmm... No! Still warm, left water bottle in car, tyre pressures way too low for grippy tarmac, very rocky tracks and soft grass everywhere else = hard going, dehydration, several long stops and getting up at one stage, feeling dizzy and back on the floor in a heap 🤔 I survived the day..... just. 😀 I got whooped both rides by a German who loves hills on a Haibike Sduro Trekking eBike hardtail with rack, 80mm front suspension and gravel tyres at 50psi 🙄 The result now is I've been 'forced" to start looking at ebikes as the OH insists she buys me one, although she draws the line at a Specialised Sworks turbo levo at 12k 😂
  11. I would order directly from theskodashop.co.uk (Horton Skoda). You will need to phone them up (speak to Matt in Parts), quote the part numbers and he will send you a bill electronically to settle. Parts will be sent out to you when they arrive.... however, there is a backlog of parts, so it may take time.

  13. Got a big bottle of it so 10x50ml shots, not interested in single shot bottles. Like I said quite happy with it, if I get decent extra out of a tank full and with shift working it's not always easy to get fuel at 2-3am, so fuelling has to be done as and when and it means that I don't always have a choice of where I can get it and at a cheapest price.
  14. Will try all this on Wednesday and keep you updated. Thanks again for this. Realy appreciate it
  15. Still showing up as 185 miles left for that last fuelling that's good because it will mean that I won't have to fuel up again for about another 7-10 days, that will mean it will have lasted the best part of 3 weeks.
  16. From the pictures of the underside of a MK8 Golf the two holes are there on the Multilink rear subframe..
  17. How much NCD do you have? Even without NCD protection you'll only lose a year and I think you'll have kittens when you see how much the genuine parts are.
  18. Its about £60 to £70 I think now...

I would not agree on that. My 1.5TSI has nearly 70000km in it. Never had to add oil between the two oil changes at 30000 and 60000 services.
  20. Thanks for posting, read that thread for the harmonic damper a few weeks ago and added it to my parts list👍🏻 I'm still torn on whether to keep the car or change it so any additional spends for now are off and if I recall it wasn't an especially cheap part?
  21. Must remind myself not to take any advice from you. My 1.6 TDI, DSG could not perform any better in city traffic. Stop/start system works as required, smooth take offs, no hesitation, no overheating. If you're speaking from your own experience then there something seriously wrong with your car. As long as you don't interrupt the re-gens too many times the DPF is not a problem. Go back to a manual gearbox for city driving?. Not a chance.
  22. Ah, it was Discovery. I have it as part of a SKY package. I've been watching Any build his Alfa single-seater project car too. Very interesting and it gives him lots of chances to fabricate and fettle things. He is doing a lot of it by eye, rather than cam/cad design. I like... a lot

I still can't fathom how Suzuki didn't have the mechanical capability to plan ahead and stick a modern small petrol engine that was compliant with emissions regs. Obviously it wouldn't have been totally straight forward as most of the engines they would be able to lay their hands one, where probably designed for transverse layouts, but even so... They would have been able to sell plenty of front wheel drive version I'm confident, even that defeated the cars true raison d'être. Maybe electric or hydrogen will revive it, but they absolutely must not tinker with the external design.
  24. When I had a rear door window smashed on my Corsa a few years ago the insurance arranged for autoglass to fit a temporary plexiglass substitute until a replacement could be sourced and fitted to suit my work timescales. (edit) Sorry, should have said that the window was smashed in Perpignan (France) and the temp repair was fitted there. The replacement was fitted in the UK once we had returned home 10 days later.
  25. Yes, just wanted to know if author found a solution. I created my own thread with a video, where noise can be observed. Thank you. Im located in Lithuania. Gearbox: 7DSG
  26. This thread is going off topic; even so I have comments. Am I ok as I passed my test nearly 51 years ago. My father took his test in his 40s, so if the system above was in place, 40 years after his test he would be in his 80s. It is a fallacy to depend on how long a person has had a licence, age may be a limiting factor. But I don't agree with retesting on age basis either. FYI I took a PCV test just over 3 years ago, got a CPC and now I can drive preserved buses with over 70 people on it.
  27. Call your insurance company, they will arrange repair with a European partner. That's what insurance is for. If you have NCD protection then it's protected isn't it!
  28. Have you been on the amber nectar already ? The younger generation cause more accidents than any other group, as borne out by insurance company statistics and the prices they charge young drivers. Whilst younger drivers might be more au fait with the highway code than older drivers, most of them are too arrogant and in too much of a hurry to take any notice of it. Whilst I'm a long way from suggesting that all older drivers are better drivers than younger ones, they do have a wealth more experience on the roads than the younger generation.
  29. I changed the red led and issue resolved. So the LED was fused.
  30. I just copied and pasted your description last evening but somehow still managed to order the correct A864S blades. Thanks again
  31. Right. Just to make clear. ECO mode is a driving mode. Coasting is a function Coasting sets the gear to neutral and coasts with or without the engine. Depenging on the car. For example in Golf the coasting function is only available when ECO driving mode is selected. I believe most new cars have the coasting function enabled all the time. At least MHEV's and Hybrids.
  32. Funny thing, this was planned to be one of the first upgrades for 1968 model 1000MB, there were even engines in production with modified chain cover - but it was withdrawn later. It is possible that it was because of politics again - polymer used for chain slider was made in West Germany and relations with western countries were a bit more relaxed before August 1968. This looks like relic from 1000MB, where oil filter wasn't full flow, this was addressed by modifications in Estelle to increase oil change interval.
  33. I think it sounds neat. Care with hot fluid handling being necessary though. Please be very careful if you have pets (or neighbours do). Do not allow them anywhere near open containers of antifreeze, or spillages/puddles. Lethal if ingested. May be worth prior checking that your radiator fan(s) work too, if trying it in high ambient temperatures. People generally do it cold, and generally fail to change a significant proportion of the total; and indeed it's easy to create temporary air pockets. These usually resolve themselves during a subsequent drive.
  34. Have you checked for an increase in rolling resistance, dragging hand brake etc? Something outside the engine, just a thought.
  35. No problem, I'm glad some people find it useful hopefully! I think a lot of people recommend Bilstein B8 shocks to go with the H&R springs? They were out of my budget though so mine have been fitted with the standard shocks at the moment. I think that's fine to do and the car genuinely rides and handles better than standard 😁 That's exactly how I understand it yes 😊
  36. A few taken at Brands Hatch yesterday before the camera finally gave up.. lesson learnt.. wait a while before buying new tech cameras. Kam in the yellow Civic getting a bit lairy and Jay in the white Civic cocking a wheel. Last one is the great looking Jota McLaren GT3 car which crashed heavily today whilst leading. Thankfully the driver was unhurt.
  37. Just check any listing is the right one though asvoi think they come in different lengths...
  38. Might just need the flaps resetting. There's a few videos on youtube like this one
  39. You're welcome my friend! As I said, it's just my thoughts, and people are welcome to make their own minds up. But it sounds like you already know what you are doing! Different additives have definitely had their place and have been useful additions in years gone by, but modern vehicle engineering, fuels and oils are so good these days that in my opinion, there is no need for them in well-maintained modern cars. Good luck with your car in the future anyway. I also see that you're quite new here, so don't be afraid to join in and discuss anything with us. That's how this keeps being such a great forum for us all!
  40. It was written correctly but I understand why you would want to write le postman Pat If I knew who had delivered the letter I would have said Le Facteur or La Factrice but in the absence of that info or if it is irrelevant (for example if it was the system rather than their diligence that got the letter to the right address) then it would be La Poste.
  41. I've found the answer in the comments below that video. Google translate: If this information is right; this commenter says, oil cleaning system change was done with the Fabia 1.4 engine. (Final version of our engine) I also know that, user fault might cause larger amounts of unfiltered oil pass. There is a safety valve inside of the oil filter. If you don't change your oil filter regularly, eventually it will clog. When the oil pressure exceeds safety valve pressure level, it opens and lets all unfiltered oil circulate into the engine. These were negative highlights in the video. These are small downsides of the older design. Don't get too attached to these problems. Other than that, lots of praises about build quality. His final word was: The engine is so good that, it's discontinuation is not fair. 👍
  42. Well, I've never known a steering rack break except through active abuse. Even then the track rod usually bends first.

In essence, with HALDEX 4, you have 85% of the drive at the front and permanent 15% at the back on normal roads (Haldex 5 has quicker clutches and engages instantly). As you loose traction at the front wheels, the clutch for the rear kicks in and transfer power to the rear tyres. Could I recommend that you have the HALDEX system services (it needs doing [recommended] every 20k miles) and get the filter or sieve cleaned or replaced.
  44. I'm enjoying watching the process. It's a right hodgepodge of a car, but it should look stunning and after all he built it with his own hands. I know a lot of people don't care for Ant, but his enthusiasm and skills are hard to dispute, I reckon. He also isn't afraid to get 'stuck in' something that was levelled at Ed China before he left Wheeler Dealers. I agree, the USA style of dragging the thing out is a little annoying, but we seem to be pretty good at doing that over on these shores these days. Overall, I'm enjoying the show. I like a man who is good with his hands

Did exactly the same today. It took me a bit more time since it was -5 °C outside and at half way I needed to go inside to warm up my hands.
