  1. Dear lord what is this post... why would you move the selector to N when coming to a stop, a DSG is a dual clutched gearbox that simply disengages the clutch packs when not moving. No wear, no problems, simple as that. Regarding brake lights on, auto hold will leave the brake lights on and im more than happy with that, if im stopped at the back of a queue id rather be well lit up than worrying about other drivers being slightly blinded for the short amount of time stopped in traffic.
  2. Upgraded the pedals, and fitted some nice OEM Prestige mats. I know you only see the pedals for a second or so as you get into the car, but for that second the view is now much improved. The mats are way nicer than the 3rd party crap that came with the car. Luxurious! The delivery arrived from Kopacek in a TV box. The kids were very disappointed when I opened it up, but I was delighted!
  3. Embarassingly avoiding the last 2 messages on performance cars, I've had a couple of weeks using Autohold on my 1.0 DSG, after 2 previous years as an ignorant Autolhold sceptic. I'm now leaving it on most of the time - agree with Kenny R it's great with the DSG and does make starting from standstill easier on the right foot and it's generally a bit less effort to achieve a smooth take off. I've tried some moderately fast getaways turning right from a side road into a busy main road and no wheel spin or tramping so far, but too early to say for sure. I've still to try really putting my foot down while in Sport from standstill. If not for the rather-oversensitive-to-small-movement-at-top-of-throttle-pedal, it would be as good as my torquey old Saab 9-5 2 litre auto & is already nicer here than my previous Yeti 1.2 DSG (and as it happens my older BMW E39 523i auto too - always seemed a bit sluggish in spite of the good 0-60 times, unless I really used the throttle). What I didn't like on first getting the Karoq & before I was used to it, was using Autohold with Stop/start. Initially pressing go, the engine would start with a slight jolt + taking off in Autohold I tended to do too suddenly. That put me off using both facilities for far too long, but that was before I learned the trick of twitching the steering wheel - anticipating moving off a few seconds later. Still only use Stop/start occasionally, when a longish wait expected, replacement EFB batteries aren't cheap. Going back to a point made by RootToot, stopped in traffic today, I did notice from the red reflections in a white Transit behind me, that the rear brakes lights are illuminated when Autohold operates - need to think more about that, but reluctant to give up Autohold now.
  4. I had another trip to see the final Battle of Britain Memorial flights from Coningsby for this year. I was amazed to see how they cram them all in the single hanger!
  5. How many Škoda drivers have experienced the need to do a factory reset in order to prevent unsubstantiated warning triangles from appearing or lane control and idle-stop from being implemented or disabled? OK, so I understand the various conditions that can influence whether the engine cuts out or not - but what if none of those conditions exist? I was told my my Škoda dealer that the Korean microprocessor that governs these events is not fit for purpose and that this is well known within VAG. My 2019 Scala is excellent in most respects but is very low mileage and not due for another service for some months, at which point it has been suggested that this particular chip will be replaced.... In the meantime, would any Škoda/VAG engineer reading this like to shed any more light?
  6. My VRS went into dealership for 2 days for alot of updates and I think they may have changed control unit for the infotainment system. I now have wireless android auto running along with a dramatic improvement in response time, some new shortcuts in the 'set' hotkey , my phone auto connects and the climate control remains on sync when selected. Hopefully this sorts all the software issues I was having such as PDC, airbag errors etc. Dealership told me only released last week or two but you'll only get it if you're having ongoing issues. I've attached the latest software for info Top is from August update and bottom is the latest available
  7. Just thought I'd post up my figures from yesterday. 244 BHP and 309 ft ld of torque with good curves on both. Engine has been mapped to Stage 2, has a 3" exhaust with sports cat and a K&N filter. Lots of other mods to the car, mostly for handling as I use it for track days mostly. Really happy with the results. Car feels very strong and still remains very drivable on the road. Picture of car is in the pit lane at Brands.
  8. Did you mean accelerator pedal position sensor?
  9. Well that's gone now.... Surprise I now drive this.... 2021 Vauxhall Mokka SRi premium nav 1.2T Eat 8
  10. Not all of them. 😉 Thanks, AG Falco
  11. Just. Stop. Being. A. D!ck. A spark plug is not a safety critical item. What is WRONG with you! I would never advocate cutting corners on safety critical components, I check torque on my van wheelnuts every week. I never attack you, why are you having a go at me? There's no excuse for it, if your personal life is sad then you have my sympathy but leave me the hell out of it.
  12. I replaced the main and dipped with Philips X-TremeVision 12972XV+ H7s and just a bog standard set of Osram H3s. Headlights are whiter compared to the original yellowish tinge of the OEM (presumably) bulbs and visibility is better. Didn't get flashed by passing motorists so they're clearly not burning a hole through people like modern lights. Picked up a mate earlier and even he thought the lights were miles better.
  13. So as I have mentioned, my throttle was being an absolute pain (holding revs) which suggested it needed cleaned. After my Grampa and I performed emergency "throttlectomy" in the pouring rain and gave it a clean. No difference sadly. So now, I have diagnosed the issue as the accelerator pedal sensor being dicky. It will be repaired soon, but the car is functional and safe enough so I can't complain all too much. The headlight bulbs have also been replaced and I can see now - plus, I've got a slow puncture so on the spare, but future me will sort that one out!
  14. Powdercoat is more durable in my experience and gives a better finish as it’s easier to achieve an even coat with the alloy being electrically charged as it’s being applied (fascinating process really) paint opens up more colour choices though tbf but providing you don’t want something obscure i would always chose Powdercoat

Thanks both... I was leaning towards the TransK9 so have ordered one.
  16. Just try it and see. But why would you want to do that, the foot brake operates the brake lights.? Just use the brakes or use the e-Brake or stick with Autohold when you have that.
  17. I work in transmission calibration and this doesn't sound right. I'm not an expert on the dq200 but it's highly likely it stores adaption values in order to ensure shift quality with component tolerances. There will be some adaptions which are set initially for the transmission build and some which keep relearning to account for wear (e.g. clutch touch point). It could be that these adaptions are incorrect and need relearning. Also the shifting performance is very dependent on the engine speed and torque and so a fault with the engine could cause bad shifting behavior, are there any engine problems? The obvious third point, is the oil level/quality of the transmission oil.
  18. Panic over, after stripping the car down 3 times and starting my 4 search .i noticed a lump under the passenger side floor mat.there it was and put back where is should of been in the first place.it has been in for a service a few weeks back so one at the garage must have put it there.in any case thank you for your help.i had nightmares thinking of shredding a tyre on the Spanish motorway about 2 am.not be able to change to spare wheel.cheers
  19. If you pull the handbrake on it'll turn off the brake lights. I do this sometimes at night if there's a car behind
  20. Price per unit volume of oil. So yes. Frankly, I'd want an itemised invoice for all works done, and parts replaced.
  21. Yes but it's better than nothing. I know that there are some insulation brands that sell heat shrinkable covers (we call them Macaroni here in Greece as a joke) with silicone inside as a glue so every time you heat it with a head-gun this seals everything. The drawback is that you can not open it for example an inspection. Here is an example: Description: 3M MDT-A is available with a layer of specially designed hot melt adhesive. The glue is spread during the extrusion of the pipe, thus achieving a very smooth, continuous adhesive coating that ensures perfect tightness.
  22. 😅😅 yes exactly! Yes, another rare (in italy) original Skoda accessory, but with some additional functions non originally provided. There are many "not so evident" features I've added. If you like, I can create a more detailed presentation post of her, since we would be a bit off topic here 😉
  23. Measure the thickness of the discs and compare with minimum value. I share earlier posters doubts that this has anything to do with the discs.
  24. I'm sure MartiniB or a mod will push you in the right direction. Unless Skoda are holding their maps back you should be getting updates. Seat users of mib3 have been getting them iin 2021 regularly. Suppose to be automatic but you do need the 4g signal. There are two contracts as I recall one for connected services the other with the eSim provider. You might be able to do it with WiFi... some people go over to that at times. Suspect it's your settings unless Skoda aren't updating Skodas this year. Seats with mib3 are ahead of us on mib2 high. They are Here Map maps you get across mib3. Some people fumble their privacy settings thinking the earth is flat and going dark helps matters with mqb evo problems. Best to ignore people who spread that, they are incorrect. Don't hide the unit from the mothership. Might have a bearing. 5th yes it does change the map update in the car... that's the one that Seat people talk about. You go into settings not the engineering menu. Try haunting this thread. I believe you fumble that screen on updates... but I'm sure they will redirect you. My Seat mod skills 🤣. Now I'm drained of info 🙄.
  25. Date of Production: 13/09/2012 Engine Code: CEGA Transmission Code: NFN Paint Code: 9P/ F9E Here is the data sheet for options/spec.
  26. I've been testing this for a month. I know, purists will hate this mod but my temperature gauge was getting stuck sometimes and not always showing the correct temperature. I also wanted a digital gauge for more meaningful observations. With some research and luck, this external digital temp gauge fits into the Favorit dashboard with minimum effort. I cut product's original external body. The wide part at the front. I did some modification on the retaining ring which holds the glass. To mount it into the dashboard, I've prepared a riser platform from a piece of plastic. Mounting with the riser platform is just like mounting the original analogue gauge. All procedure is completely reversible too. Sorry, but I don't have detailed pictures of the procedure but next time when I take the dashboard off I'll add more detailed pictures here. Product is from AX. Product code on AX: 4000581006537 I've ordered with 14mmx1.5mm sensor. Which is plug & play compatible with the car.
  27. As ex-Scout i am a Felician ''who is always ready to help others and do a good deed every day". In Skoda we Trust ! 🤝
  28. If it is part of a safety set up then it will be on all models now from the VW group that have 'Autohold' for the global market. Pity that it is not in line with the UK market and the Highway code as it is. It was not across all VW Group vehicles a while back. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/497760-code-out-brake-lights-on-autohold
  29. TJA can't b "coded". If certain conditions r met, then TJA will become active automatically. For TJA to work, u need the following conditions met:- - ACC active/on. - Active Lane Guidance (ALG) active. Not just Lane Assist. Both Lane Assist and ALG needs to be turned on. U'll know it's working when u drop below 65 km/h and ALG continues to stay active all the way down to a stop.
  30. I rarely use the sunroof...hence I'm surprised it had been 'worn out '. Perhaps maybe once a month...but not for a long distance.
  31. Window jacks for Felicia/Favorit are hard to find. Good work. 👍 Sport interior elements are looking cool.
  32. Thanks everyone. I bought the parts as suggested earlier in the thread and fitted today, all works perfectly 👌 No idea why the car didn't come as standard this way. I colour coded my bolts with some touch up paint. Finishes it nicely.
  33. Been playing with Bjorn Nyland's hundreds of videos on EVs. He has a spreadsheet bringing together years of his test data and link to his and his colleagues EV videos. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1r58c93M0JwdbJ1Gik_8QhyyeLjoPgCSe1JXR_u4DrPc/edit#gid=735351678 Whilst super interesting and general fair I would say he is only human and does not pick up on everything. (I am a big fan but nobody is perfect of course). He seems to zoom around in hust numerous Zoe tests, right through the 22, 41 and 52 Kwh versions but never brings up that he seems to run the Zoe at much lower tyre pressures than other EVs he drives ie Tesla running 45 PSI and the Zoe running as low as 33 PSI it looks like on one video. We all know tyres pressures, and tyre sizes massively affect EV range as well as aero and optimum driving range. It actual take this guy, who Bjorn references, Chris prepared this which may be useful to many EV drivers. Thanks hugely to Bjorn and Chris for all the work, those hundreds if noth thousands of mile of driving/testing. Congrats to Bjorn on going to be a Dad.

@Shaft7 Welcome to the forum. There were driving instructors on the forum that had Mk2 Fabia vRS and used them for tuition. One of those went on to use a Polo GTI 1.8TSI DSG for the same job.

  38. New owner, took delivery this week. Pretty happy with the colour!
  39. Powder coating once all the current coating is removed.

I have a TransK9 in a BMW I have and it's very sturdy. Also has the release from the back in the event of an accident. I'll be getting the kodiaq version when I swap cars.
  41. The contents of an Oil & Inspection and Extended Scope are set out fairly clearly on Skoda's website and don't include much. Why would you assume that they include items like spark plugs that Skoda itemise and price seperately? I think the lesson here is to read the small print properly when you buy things, rather than make assumptions. They shouldn't have changed the plugs and then charged you without your prior authorisation to do the work but that's an entirely separate issue to whether they're included in a plan that said it covered Oil & Inspection / Extended Scope.
  42. Thanks @ahenners for the parts guide. Just fitted to my mk3 fl with ease. Took 10mins max. 👍👍👍👍
  43. If buying new car get an Extended Warranty from the outset be it for a DSG or Manual fitted to a 1.5TSI. If a used one then you need to check if any updates have been done on the engine or DSG. Maybe consider if a 1.0TSI with a DQ200 DSG would suit your needs. Take the 1.5TSI with ACT out of the equation with a DQ200 DSG. If Skoda / VW are still turning out ones new now with poor quality components like clutches or MCU's or software then cover yourself with a warranty. Skoda have been building millions of DQ200's for VW vehicles in the past years. The percentage of the 2,200 or however many DQ200 a day they produce that have issues might be low, but even if that is only 22 of each days production that is an issue. The past goes back over a decade since VW Group had to recall millions of DQ200 DSG's world wide and just do a service campaign in Europe. '34F7', then another recall '34H5', then TPI's on software and clutches and another recall in Australia in 2019 on the DQ200's that had already had Recall / Service Campaign actions. Surely Vorsprung Durch Technik means finally there is more reliability and longevity with DQ200's. Many tens of thousands with a Skoda or millions across the VW Group Brands will have no issues with 1.5 TSI's or with DQ200 DSG's, sadly when some do the issue that is really the problem is dealership staff that do not take issues seriously. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/484873-dsg-noise http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/474989-terrible-start-to-ownership http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/483020-kamiq-gearbox-problems-at-hendy-skoda-bournemouth http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486782-15-dsg-issues
  44. @troutybrown Sorry i can not for near Motherwell, @AMD87might be able to suggest someone, and i assume you know not to go near Arnold Clark or Parks (Hamilton) or any Dealership.
  45. Hi everyone Just an update to say, I am still around and still own the Audi although it has now become a second car rather than my main daily driver. The Audi has had so much done now since the last update. Serviced by me, New disks / pads and front brake calipers ABS Sensor replaced Cambelt and tensioners done New tyres all round. All this work resulted in a clean MOT a few weeks ago, and it's hardly been driven since.
  46. 😪 Spares arrived on Monday but I won't be able to start any work for a few weeks. Valve guides are good. Valve seats (all 12) are in very good condition for 65k miles.
  47. Try the "bosch wiper blades" website to find the wipers that will fit: https://www.boschwiperblades.com/profile Bosch A937S https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-A937S-Aerotwin-Wiper-Blade/dp/B005FW4RA2/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=bosch+a937s&qid=1633384005&refinements=p_76%3A419159031&rnid=419157031&rps=1&sr=8-1
  48. That's pretty much my opinion too. However it would also be nice if manufacturer's actually delivered 100% working versions of what was promised!
