40 miles in 4 hours with a 10 minute stop and just enough battery left to get home and it was getting cold in the few last miles.
  3. I spent yesterday cleaning, polishing, machine polishing, cleaning and repeating. The overall effect is a nice shiny car but I couldn't help being reminded of the Polo Harlequin. I know the car is going to be 19 years old in a month or so and that it's had an interesting and fun filled life before I became the current custodian. I'm also aware that compared to some cars half its age the car is in amazing condition but I'm always looking to improve things. A full respray would be the obvious solution but that's not going to happen any time soon. The roof is in need of some TLC, as is the bonnet. If I have those resprayed then I reckon the overall effect would improve no end. The rear bumper has a small crack from a previous owner which niggles me every time I see it so I think that this is maybe the way to go for now. My only reservation is that red is such a bugger of a colour to match up that it might tip me over the edge if they aren't spot on. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  4. Just found a picture of the car I inherited in 2002 - the car that got me into VAG - 1989 small bumper 3dr Mk2 GTI 16v, named by its previous owner as 'Schwarzer Blitz': Fond memories 😎 of a car left in my ward by my mate Larry, who passed away in 2002 after a short battle with prostate cancer (he lost). Gaz
  5. I'm a newbie here so I won't go all in and say what I really think and get a ban for my first post. But.... you really need to give your head a wobble!
  6. Thanks buddy this is why I like the Skoda community and I also like the Skoda manufacturer this forum is great as helped all that lot as I was a Vauxhall man for 36 years now now love the shape of the skodas just damn damn damn shame I lost my baby first crash I've had since I've been driving and I've been driving a long time yes true Testament to car safety car was annihilated passengers all walked out without minor injuries PS I hit another Skoda which was stationary on a motorway yes I have been looking at the VRS as well life is too short once again thank you for reply let you know what happens
  7. It had better be!! 😁
  8. Usually a white silicone lubricant spray is used, which is much better than WD40 (which is basically a water displacer not a lubricant).
  9. Quick search gaz ,its still on the road and t&t 👍
  10. limited slip diff is the best mod
  11. hey - the rpm one that fits the superb is here - https://www.rpmperformances.co.uk/product-page/seat-cupra-formentor-2020-anti-drone-mandrel-bent-resonator-delete no clue on the 220 I'm afraid
  12. Loving these lighter nights👍
  13. Fine as far as it goes; I'm one of those people who straight-lines and off-sides twisty single carriageways where safe.
  14. I used the autoglym magma yesterday The car was absolutely covered it big iron particles like someone has been grinding metal next to it so I ended up using the entire bottle just to get the bonnet done, this is probably due to me not using it effectively and wasting it but I did follow the instructions on the bottle. I started off giving the entire car a spray with it, that was probably a third of a bottle. I left that for 5 minutes then jet washed it off, it did remove loads a stuff but not all of it. I decided to concentrate on the bonnet which was the worst panel. After a lot of hard work and picking at it with my nails (I really didn't want to do that) I've managed to get it looking clean at last It's hard to get the camera to focus but trust me it's clean and ready to polish. I finished by washing the car and spray waxing it as I didn't have time to do anymore. It don't look too bad though does it? I've just popped a new air filter in today too. I'm going to get a big bottle of autosmart red 7 to get the rest of the iron off the car it works out to be half the price of magma and the way I went through it I need loads more to finish the car
  15. So... first proper journey in the vRS complete - 160odd miles up the M5+M6, including through all the ****** roadworks, in the pouring rain, and it returned a very respectable 39.5mpg. I'll take that 😁. Sure as hell beats the very low 20s I'm averaging with my normal 1-2 mile kids' taxi trips.
  16. Adding a bit to your description.... This is an Android device which is used, via Apple Carplay (pretending to be an iPhone basically) in Android Auto/Carplay enabled cars and will display apps full screen e.g Netflix, Youtube, Waze, Maps etc. Has a SD card slot so can be rammed full of music and also a SIM card slot which can be used to provide data - otherwise it needs to be linked to a hotspot on your phone (or to your car if you install a SIM card, which is what I did). Will happily function offline though for local music. Connect and forget - boots up everytime the car starts and away you go. Then, as described above, you can optionally use it to provide a WIRELESS connection for either Android Auto or Carplay from your existing phone - so acts as a bridge for cars Skodas pre 2020 which don't support wireless (ignores the apps installed on the actual device in this mode). Decent gadget and works well, does occasionally fight with the car's inbuilt audio. Used mine for a few months while waiting for delivery of my "AA Wireless" gizmo then sold on (for £30 more than being asked here!)
  17. All sorted, a 2013/2014 car confusion lol. In case anyone is ever wondering, the 2013 car ( up to around June) dont need the extra fuse harness but the 2014 cars do..... They appear to have a totally different fusebox layout....I find reading these "instructions" difficult at best, what happened to written instruction..... On my car ( for 13 socket lectrics) you need F28, 38 and 44 and pair the loom DIRECT. DO NOT follow OCTAVIA-MK3-REMOVABLE-TOWBAR-FITTING-IMG-v1.0.pdf as this is seemingly for 2014 fuseboxes I was kind of getting in limbo between the guides and following that and should have stopped and focussed on original guide from scratch. This explains the differences better, you don't pair them into the fusebox which is the mistake I made and now have to remove them lol. I couldn't plug in those other wires as they are really meant for D122 / J126 for later 2014 on cars. I think the 3 tails I plugged into the fusebox extra, probably fit easily into the 2013 fusebox. Many thanks to Dezmonde who refused any repartiation for his time, though I felt so glad to be helped I would have happily done so.
  18. Thanks for that. I'll have a look at getting a set of those, although they have gone up in price quite a bit since I last bought some!
  19. Im guessing you mean you are struggling to push the pins into the correct locations? From memory when i did mine it was just fiddly, but with the instructions supplied and a great help on here it all worked out. I will try and find the guides. Kev
  20. I don't think that would work. I'm not 100% sure but I think the NIP exists so that goods going from NI to the UK aren't smuggled in without customs duties/ tariffs being paid. NI is, in effect, still in the Single Market whereas the UK left all that jolly nice stuff. You might find help here > https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/eu-exit-and-northern-ireland-protocol
  21. I explained my reasons why as I have before I'm not one for wait till it breaks its called preventative maintenance but as we've all found out in the past sometimes things go sideways it's how we learn and now people in the future will know not to try what I did. This site is a share and learn site not a berate someone with stupid childish comments site that's over on cbbc maybe hang out there a while 🙂
  22. Looks absolutely marvellous!
  23. Try another MAF sensor. When they deteriorate they don't throe up a code until they fail completely. I have a lot of experience with mysterious loss of power, cured by replacing MAF. You can get a cheap Chinese copy on ebay and then splash some cash on a Bosch unit if it fixes the problem. Mine is a good one second hand for £24.00. (same symptoms)

Report 'hit & run' to Police offering dashcam footage - they have experts who can enhance images. If damage sufficient to want insurance to pay then obviously inform them also.
  25. What we need is an entrepreneur to start up in Northern Ireland acting as an intermediary for shipping, for fee of course.
  26. Given your comments it might be worth naming and shaming to avid others having a similar experience?
  27. From Superskoda: Hello, to UK we deliver only by Royal post - the packet must be up to 2kgs and max 50cm long Only to Nothern Ireland we deliver "without" limits by GLS. Regards Magdalena
  28. What sort of power/torque are you aiming for then? I've got used to the Stage 2 as a daily and keep thinking about squeezing a bit more out of the car at some point. Trouble is, when the weather is wet, cold or the roads are greasy it's pointless trying to use the existing power anyway. Fitting an LSD would help but I think even then there would be quite a few months of the year when it would still be a bit frustrating. The car is looking great by the way and I'm quite conscious about the time you've put into it as it makes me look neglectful in comparison.
  29. I do like a yellow Mk1 vRS. When properly clean they look amazing and yours definitely falls into that category.
  30. Well its arrived at the dealer 🤗 Now to arrange delivery. Starting to get excited (finally)
  31. Oh you misery. Of course everyone knows that but a photo of the speedo is perfect for bragging rights. 😊

  35. Wow I actually got a letter from Skoda as well as the on screen message. Letter states " A new version of the engine cover is not yet available. As soon as the new version is available your Skoda authorised repairer will contact you in order to refit the new version of the engine compartment cover." Hope that reassures those who have had them removed already.
  36. Can't assist mechanically but...
  37. Also, the negative clamp from the charger goes to the flat mass connection point behind the battery, rather than to the negative battery post.
  38. And I only indicate if there's somebody there to need it. An aid for the lazy driver. Mine gets switched off every time.
  39. just a brief tutorial how to activate the codes. in short words do not go to SKODA dealers, you’ll waste your time and your money. If the codes are supported by your unit, you can activate the codes yourself using OBDeleven. In order to activate the codes you’ll need VIN number and VCRN number(you can get this code from your unit). With those 2 you’ll generate a long code( is a website that can generate this code for you) then you will have to paste in OBDeleven.
  40. Switched from a Superb SE L Estate 150 to a vRS estate 245, and have some regrets. Mainly, the poor tech on the new car which has never worked properly.
  41. I had electric seat option in last two Yetis, and is standard on my Karoq Edition spec. I find the seat squab angle is wrong on most standard seats and presses leading edge into my thighs. Electric seats allow squab angle to be altered and it transforms the seat comfort.
  42. I think you mean "having Lane Enforce inflicted on me".
  43. The damper will not swing round as it is still secured by the top mount, so stops it flexing.
  44. On a long drive I find that quite often I nudge it into S, I'm not complaining, I love it!
  45. See the rectangle near the foot rest. Remove it. there’s a torx screw behind it, after this pull the end near the foot rest towards the door then pull the entire assembly downwards
  46. Hi Dave! Apologies for delayed reply 😬🤷‍♂️ The tuning was by Swiss Skoda dealer Embrach (www.embrach.ch) and was done from new. Sachs shocks and KE springs. K&N filter and some upgraded arb bushes plus a freer flowing manifold exhaust. No chip I don’t think (none for 3.6 I believe) just a remap. Only chip mod you can get is a throttle enhancer (sharper response). I am still saving for a free flow exhaust and that should liberate some bhp. A top end rebuild (cans etc.) abd a modded ecu can get you Passat R36 plus power (320 bhp +). You can also go full Porsche spec (its the sane lump as the Cayenne and early Panameras) which could be a giggle…but expensive!! That would push you towards 360bhp+). I think 🤔🤪😬🤷‍♂️ Dave
  47. My first car, a 1937 Morris 8 Tourer, and my Norton Model 50, the latter my first ‘proper’ motorbike, bought the day after I passed my bike test (on a Lambretta) at 16 yrs old in 1963.
  48. Not the best photo sorry. Fortunately I’ve done a few and rarely break anything these days! Biggest problem is trying to avoid airbags on modern cars. I also struggled to find a switched 12v, all the large fuses are permanent, looks like the micro2 are the ones I need, unfortunately that’s the one that Nextbase don’t include as standard. Quick phone call and they are sending one free of charge, just have to remember to disconnect it every evening until I can switch it out.
