  1. Yes I did! I was going to update over the weekend. They delivered it today. Full tank of petrol and the guy even reversed onto my drive before I got chance to come outside. I took the advice on here and asked for the full service history and asked questions about the history and was fully satisfied and reassured. The saleswoman I dealt with has been excellent. The PCP has got a bit messed up as I took the part exchange off quite late on (and got £250 more than the dealership had offered us) so I need to wait for that to be sorted and changed to the new agreement before either reducing payments to 12 months or doing a full resettlement. Thanks for all the advice to you and anyone else still reading. It made me realise it was worth asking a few questions but also giving them the chance to sort things out, which in fairness they did efficiently and to a high standard. I'm off to Bournemouth in it tomorrow so it will get a good run out very quickly!

Hey everybody, after a long time of lurking I've decided to share my story here. I've read through the whole thread, and firstly I'd like to say I greatly sympathize with everybody who has been wronged by Škoda's unforgivable demeanor and gross penny-pinching. I ordered an Octavia vRS 2.0 TSI (regular; not a wagon) with many options; a bit before September 21'. The initial quote by the dealership (Porsche Verovškova, SLO) was that the car might be built in week 44 or so; but the salesman clarified that it's probably an unreliable time frame. The time frame in question passed (as did the year 2021), with no news until the whole Mlada Boleslav situation—at that point, the sales rep. informed me that my car was supposed to be built in March or so; but, of course, the fire and the war prevented this. Naturally. In all this time, I was never contacted of their own volition, as it was always a response to my inquiry. In fact, I'd given up on even trying to contact them because I am fully aware that they will just serve me more verbal diarrhea insofar as them not having any information at all. If this information helps anybody: I paid a deposit of around 30% for the car. I'd have to check my papers, but it was about 11k EUR. I'm going to have to stick it out as I am not in a rush (so to speak) about getting the car. So in this case, my situation is not as bad as other people's. However, here are my main takeaways from this whole experience: Never buying another car from Porsche Verovškova, ever. They make it seem like them not having any information is an excuse for customers to just hang about in the dark and wait for good news. In fact, you should almost be glad that you're privileged enough to have ordered a car. /s Never buying another Škoda again. A company that behaves like this is not worthy of having a decent customer base; and I dearly hope it blows up in their face going forward. Cars aren't one-dollar toys, so they should stop acting like it's no big deal. Eat the cost of transferring/restarting/whatever the production like a normal company does, instead of crying on a giant pile of money whilst also crying about how hard it is to meet customer demand due to X, Y, and Z problems. How are other companies able to cope so much better? Zero respect for them, much the same as they obviously have for us.

Sounds like a top mount.....there is a modified top mount available, my 2020 has just had both. No noise but sloppy handling. How did Skoda diagnose it? did they put it on a ramp or pit? did they jack it up and use the MOT heel bar under the wheel?....you would hear the top mount with a heel bar. pop it along to a local garage and ask if they can do the above? raise the wheel 2" of the floor and with a large lever (heel) bar shake the wheel up and down. as the suspension is unloaded you will hear it easily
  4. BOGOF time. Bike was 6 days ago (note gap from 999 pic above lol) Ford was on way home tonight
  5. I for one have not disputed your knowledge of the law nor have needed any explanation of it and I think that goes for all the other contributors, I commented on the morality of the course of action you recommend the OP follows given the circumstances.
  6. Fitted some new plugs and apr coil packs this morning, looks so good before

Welcome 😉 Sorry about your situation, we are all in the same boat more or less. But I have to say I enjoyed reading your post, you got me at lurking 😊
  8. You can change the solid rear discs without removing the carrier so @PhilD2 should be ok with his TDI 150. Not needed - you can switch the ignition off while the electric park brake is in the service position, it will remember its state when you switch back on to complete the process. Yes, it has to be told to exit the service mode and will then extend and retract the actuator a few times to learn the new pad thickness.
  9. Here you go..................
  10. Visited Mathewsons (Thornton-le-Dale) today to view a potential purchase. Decided against the car, but what a truly lovely village 👍

I agree 100%, but you guys who get good news, please still share it here. If you get the car faster than others it is not your fault and we are not angry with you, we are still happy for you.
  12. There's a lot to be said for having a reliable "bloke up the road". Years ago I had one and conveniently he was about a mile from my house and next door to a railway station.I'd drop the car in, catch the train to work and pick it up all sorted out on the way home. Unfortunately he then decided to up sticks and go to New Zealand to farm sheep. Well at least that's what he told me - he may just have been trying to get rid of me as a customer. (I had a series of Renault 16s at the time - kept him gainfully employed and me permanently broke).
  13. Missed the sunset this evening, but did spot some ducklings and the moon👍
  14. Did you decide you didn't like the standard Skoda stereo you bought, Ryan?
  15. Looking at your profile signature and seeing that the car is 2013 I would say that spring with its intact part number label has been fitted quite recently, perhaps like me they bought what was advertised as top mounts & bearings & recieved only the mounts, they either didn't realise or found out after stripping down so put it back together without?
  16. The other option could be a mobile hydraulic hose company like https://www.pirtek.co.uk/services/
  17. This the correct part? - Part number is 4B0422893A If so I've put a link to one I've found in the spoiler section below.
  18. Just found the parts guy in a dealership and ordered a speaker washer and front mids, he couldn’t find the suitable washer part for the rears. I’ll order a Chinesium 3 way crossover now and suitable holesaw and speaker grill once I know correct sizing.
  19. That is what I believe to be the case. That American lot can't be trusted to pulling on the handbrake or putting their car in park hence VW USA initiating recall non urgent rectification works or whatever. USA is a litigious environment!
  20. Found some of the lightweight Audi rims as Carlston suggested.
  21. In legal terms they are, as I said if it was written into the contract then it is legally binding. I have a lot of experience with these matters and my opinion is based on legal knowledge. I am not commenting anymore on the matter as I am going round in circles explaining the law to people who know my job better than me.

  24. Had a real blast yesterday. There has to be a joy to working a late shift! Warm up going up the TPT to Woodhead Pass, then down the Northern HorseShoe Loop, back along the Longdendale trail, up Woodhead to the Old Road, down the Old Road, around Langsett Res then back across to the TPT and home in time to go to work
  25. Excellent counter video, unlike the TEDx talk, this one contains many data source references, just as a factual based video should be. This video talks about how the TEDx speaker has a vested interest in fossil fuel, how the speaker appeals to common believes built up by other fossil fuel FUD, and also looked at the horrible stats presented in the TEDx talk. Someone works at institute for fossil fuel and getting paid by the fossil fuel giants is giving talks to convince you to continue relying on that stuff? Hum.... 2020's version of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchants_of_Doubt
  26. Are You sure? Share then links to 1910 files. 1810 are one year old, which were downloadable one month ago becomes a tradition, one year old 1810 map files placed on Škoda's server with half year delay, first post has been edited.

I hope so too, but till now they still said 11 weeks for new orders for a long time, but we are waiting more than 11 weeks.
  28. Caliper bolts are just a single torque setting. the carrier bolts on the other hand are stretch bolts and need a torque setting followed by an angle. sometimes you can wiggle the disc past the carrier without removing it. Saves a lot of time

No, Porsche Ljubljana gave me such ****ty offers… i ordered it in Murska Sobota
  30. Given the way I drive, I'm very pleased with fuel economy of my 220. In ur speak, that's 35 mpg (UK). On the freeways, I avg 6.5L/100 (43.5 mpg) Best I've done is 5.5L/100 (52 mpg) I have a APR Stg 1 tune, 19s (with 245/40 tyres) and run all 4 at 38 psi. I filled up this morning - 70L of 98 RON went in. Boy did it hurt given the fuel prices now!!
  31. Knocking is usually the top bearing seized, my recently fitted one has just failed but there would normally need to be steering rotation at the same time, now mine has got worse it is knocking with suspension movement without steering rotation, - but it will have been pre-loaded by previous steering movement and when the some weight is removed from the strut the bearing jumps. If left like that for a very long time the rubber to metal bonded top mount will fail from the flexing making its own knocking, perhaps yours is at that stage. The easy way to check for bearing failure is to have the engine running for the power steering, get someone to turn the wheel from lock to lock while you look down at the (hopefully) good strut, the strut will rotate smoothly, on the other side with (I propose) the bad bearing you will see the rubber distort, then jump round, this will be repeated in a series of jerks which you can feel and if you jack up the body a bit on that side to unload the strut you will probably hear the noise.
  32. You're welcome! I hope it helps.

This can't be serious :X I just hope that this estimation is only for those who are ordering now, and hopefully company is targeting to finish the current orders earlier

Mine does the same. I think one of the members noticed it appears when car is ready at the factory. Don’t know if you can check anything else with it.

a lot of us have waited a very long time for our cars, with the problems with chips then doors and vrs doors and wiring looms etc it is never ending.i dont mind waiting my turn but when some people get there cars and they had ordered the same cars months and months after you.must get to us all.
  37. So I just took the 1.4tsi in for its 8th annual service (all Australian Skoda have annual services presumably due to our varied and potentially arduous environment) and since it was topical I asked they did not apply any additives/cleaners during the service. The service guy responded they did not apply additives and never had, which surprised me a bit and had me doubting my memory, but maybe I was thinking of the former Skoda dealership franchise, or maybe a totally different manufacturer (age can do that to you). It begs the question that if that is the local Australian policy (which tends to reflect international policies) then are there actually any VW branded additives as Root says? My manual says: Fuel additives Unleaded petrol in accordance with the EN 228 standard meets all the conditions for a smooth-running engine. We therefore recommend that no fuel additives are used. This can result in considerable damage to parts of the engine or the exhaust system. And there are similar warnings against using additives for diesel fuel and the lubrication oil. Of course anyone can add what they want to their car just don't go crying to the manufacturers if something goes wrong because you were too lazy to read a manual and believe everything read on the internet.

I’m getting my car next week guys. So my journey was like this: - ordered on 6. August 2021 in Slovenia - no info till 25 April 2022 when told car has VIN and is waiting parts - 31 Maj 2022 told car is finished and awaiting transport hope you all get your cars as soon as possible. It can go from 0 information to a quickly finished car.

Got my VIN number today - but the car has a note that is waiting for missing parts - dealer says max 2 months.....
  40. Complete and utter BS, the pick up pipe draws from the lower level where the mythical sediment is supposed to be at all times whether the tank is full or empty. It will not stir up sediment any more in either situation, now if the sediment were floating, an oxymoron, then that would be a different matter. It's one thing to swallow BS especially when we are young and learning/trusting but another to regurgitate it as "the best advice I have ever had"

I’ll write from a bit different angle. I’m daily driving with Superb II Greenline with 105hp 1.6TDI engine and with 5 speed manual transmission. In my opinion this is the best car ever: - reasonably slow, gives you a smooth ride - fuel efficency is very good with that size of the car - NO dual-mass flywheel - very low maintanance cost - unique passenger side dimming mirror - lots of space front, back and in trunk - accesories retrofitable from Passat B7 (HBA etc) There is no similar car with that fuel consumtion, space, simplicity and features like Superb II Greenline.
  42. If I read your post right, you're still on the original 5-year-old battery. Sounds like it's time to replace it. I noticed my infotainment system was very slow to start up, slow to load navigation and media. The hand on the door wouldn't work on occasion and I'd have to use the key. Also, stop/start wouldn't kick in until I'd driven for about 20 minutes. Then, the car wouldn't start. I had a home start, then drove straight to Halfords. They coded in a new battery and all the things I mentioned above were cured. I thought five years out of a car battery was pretty good, especially as it will sit for two weeks at a time without being started.
  43. Search for Weyland’s excellent thread on adding a reversing camera to a mk3 Octavia. Camera from AliExpress. My 18-reg SE L has Amundsen screen etc, and it works fine. 3-4 hours work, some fiddly, but basically straightforward. No re-coding needed.
  44. Just adding to this thread that I had the same problem with the radiator coming on at random (would cut in when parked) and behaviour not consistent with DPF regens. Car was at times reluctant to start with prolonged cranking (possibly because battery run down from fan? Or effects from the relay failing - not sure). My car is a 2018 TDI 190 4x4 Estate 30,000 miles. OBD Error Code: P068b ECM/PCM Power Relay De-Energized Performance – Too Late. Following advice from this thread I replaced both relays marked 645 in the engine bay fuse box (I think it's the relay nearest the front of the car marked on wiring diagrams as J271 that was causing the issue but wasn't 100% sure so did both!) Seems to have resolved the issue. Purchased Bosch Relays from amazon. The OE part was made by Hella but not sure it really matters. Very easy to swap out, just like a big fuse. OE Part Number: 4H0951253A Bosch Part Number: 0986332040 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0068M38ZI/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_EAH5N4RM0FP0YZHPW4XN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Photo attached. Hope that the above info helps add to the info on this as I found this thread really useful to resolve the problem.
  45. Sounds very much like the problem I had. It'll drain the battery if it happens when you aren't around to hear it, and do whatever makes it stop. If you can do an OBD scan, the fault code that indicates a relay problem is P086B.
  46. In case it's any help to anyone in the future, the cause of this problem turned out to be a faulty relay (the 645 one in the engine bay fuse box), which was discombobulating the ECM. Did a Carista scan, searched the fault code in this forum and found that a very helpful user called Bob3 had experienced and sorted the very same problem.
  47. Don't think it's to do with dpf regen. Although I'm happy to be corrected. This doesn't seem consistent with the fan coming on randomly sometimes when the car has been sat on the drive with the engine switched off for hours. Also nothing to do with lack of use. Last time it happened was yesterday evening, a couple of hours after a 120 mile motorway drive. The fan came on, and wouldn't stop until the battery ran out of juice... It's a very intermittent thing. Can go for weeks without this happening. I fear this will make garage diagnosis a nightmare, unless this is a well-known problem...
  48. When most other yeti owners have devised methods of fitting mesh behind the grill and lower grill to stop stones etc damaging the radiator/ intercooler, all I can say is your very brave opening opening up the grill.
