  1. AC Service is a con. Simple as that. Your air con system may lose a small amount of gas over time - very small amount - as in 10g out of the 500g over a year. Not enough to cause issues for a good few years to come. Say you go for a AC service, all they are doing is sucking the gas out, refilling it to the correct level with a small amount of oil added and kicking it out the door. No pollen filter change, no anti bacterial bomb. Say you have 400g of gas in your system and its working just fine, theyre taking your 400, giving you back 500g. They are charging you £140 to simply add 100g of gas to your car although the system was working. Keep in mind I have someone that comes to me and will fill a system from 0g up to 800g of gas for £100. Basically AC servicing is the next thing after carbon cleans after nitrogen for your tyres It all takes money out your pocket and gives you a placebo feeling in return.

  4. As described above. Sound like diff failure rather than haldex engagement issue. Haldex engagement is electronically controlled via an electric pump on the Yeti. Did the garage doing the Haldex change do the service? Sounds like a cover up. You are not the first and wont be the last to have a diff fail because of an incorrect service.

Dear mate, please don’t take it the wrong way, I am only thankful for your insight, the disbelief was aimed at Skoda not you 😉 I only thought the door panel production started before (you mention a few weeks)? There was a post somewhere where Skoda was bragging that they manage to restart it, but don’t have the time to search for it now).

The amout of completed cars will grow week by week obviously...because the production of the door-panels started just 2-3 weeks ago. Look guys, what i share here with you, are legit, real informations, comfirmed by dealers, employees of Skoda, customers, members of our forum in czech. There is plenty of people, who ordered they cars 4,5 or 6 months later then others a already got them. There is no point in looking for a system, or logic in it. Because there is none. The supply of parts varies over time and Skoda produces what the part compares to. This applies to newly manufactured cars. For the incompleted ones, its like i wrote. No one will move 100 cars to get for the one that stands there a month longer. No one. At the end of the last year, the situation with incompleted cars was much worse (about 40-45K incompleted cars) a they managed to comblete almost all of them in 2 months.
  7. Took my Octy4 on a road trip - here it is atop the Simplon Pass in the Swiss Alps 😄
  8. After being pestered by my Daughter for the need to charge a phone in the back seats of the car. I thought I would go OEM and fit the rear USB sockets in the centre console as my model of car didn't have them. Parts needed; I ordered these from www.skoda-parts.com, it took 1 week to deliver the parts from Europe. The only thing I didn't order from Skoda was the actual USB unit, as it worked out too expensive, it was £45 for the usb and extra for the cable. I got this from aliexpress instead as it worked out around £20 with shipping. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000454430275.html?spm=a2g0o.search0302.0.0.48f2d710S9U8kD&algo_pvid=d763b097-fa97-4d9d-84fc-cabfb2587725&algo_expid=d763b097-fa97-4d9d-84fc-cabfb2587725-26&btsid=0b0a555a16212796060048113e0e8c&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ These are the parts I ordered from Skoda parts. 5E0 863 284 D 9B9 Storage Compartment - Rear Škoda 1 × 21,84 EUR 5E0 863 229 9B9 Cover left Škoda 1 × 0,53 EUR 5E0 863 230 9B9 Cover Right Škoda 1 × 0,53 EUR 5E0 857 346 A 9B9 Cover Škoda 1 × 7,49 EUR 5E0 857 289 F 9B9 Center Tunnel Cover Škoda 1 × 11,09 EUR POST14.00 Shipping 1 × 16,80 EUR Total price incl. shipping and VAT 58,28 EUR The only tools i needed was a Torx tx20 bit and the ratchet to put it in. Small flat screwdriver to help remove the 12v cigarette lighter socket. A plastic trim remover might also help, but never needed one. A lighter socket removal tool would probably help too as I had to press the tabs in quite a bit, to get the socket out. So I first started off in the rear of the car moving the front seat forward to give me more room to work in, this is how it looked originally. First I removed the ashtray, just open it up, and give it a gentle pull towards you, it should unclip nice and easy. There is an area for an LED at the back of the ashtray which i'm guessing is used in some models but not in mine. Next up put your hands in the hole where the ashtray was up towards the rear vents, just give them a gentle push from behind and they will pop out, put these to one side. Next up remove the 4 torx screws shown in the following picture. Then again I just pulled the trim part towards me, you may use you trim removal tool there are two raised parts which clip in near the bottom shown in the picture. Next up round to the front seat, move the seat back as far as you can just to give you more room to work in. The next thing i did was to pull the bottom trim down this just need a gentle pull downwards and it pops out. again just to give a bit more space to work in. (be careful if left in place when sliding the chair forward as it can get caught up). Following that time to remove the cigarette socket, (It may be a good idea to remove the fuse or take the battery wire off as this socket stays live when the car is off and if you slip with the screwdriver may cause a short). There are two small black tabs near the top which need pressing in to allow the cigarette socket to out of the black housing. I had to press them in up to the point I thought I was going to break something I ended up bending the metal slightly but bent it back before I replaced the socket. So maybe the removal tool is the easier option. Next you want to unplug the socket from the wiring, and remove the black plastic ring. The loom you get with the USB plugs, just plug between the cigarette lighter plug and socket. so you can now plug in the loom to the car wiring and pull the red plug and wire down through the hole. and for now out of lower trim that was removed. The black plastic ring can go back over the new plug. And the cigarette socket can be plugged back in. I left it out of the trim for time being until i could test the usb. After this i fed the wire with the red plug for the USB unit back past the inside of the seat. Then moved into the back of the car, moving the seat forward to allow access. This bit was quite fiddly as my hands are quite large, I fed the wire up with my right hand and had my left hand in the hole where the ashtray was as far forward as it could go under the air vent pipe. it took a couple of tries but eventually felt the wire and managed to pull it through. out of the rear trim. You can see in the picture where it is going up into the trim (it looks like it is looped around the chair but it isn't I haven't pulled it taught yet). Then it was time to screw the new trim piece in put it back making sure it clicks in place then using the 4 torx screws that were removed screw them back in. Next up I clicked the USB unit into the small trim piece, it only goes one way and the aliexpress unit was a perfect fit, I could now plug the red plug into the unit and test it worked.! ....It does. So carrying on I routed the wire where I thought it should go, there was a small hook on the left hand side so used that. and clicked the second trim piece into place. the blanking pieces were next they were straight forward and only go in one way. And the vents were next make sure the vent pipe is seated right as it is loose in there and I had moved it when squeezing my hand in there. These just pushed straight back in make sure you hear them click in place. Also the new smaller Ashtray just clicks in the same as before. Following this i tucked the wire up inside the centre console, and clipped the front piece of trim back in place again it just clips in place nothing too awkward. and pushed the black clip and cigarette socket back into place. The last picture looks patchy its because i had just wiped my greasy fingerprints off of it.!! And Voila one happy Daughter can now charge her phone in the back of the car.
  9. You’ll get up to 190 mate no problem.. it’s the torque up that you’ll notice more.. the 190 standard does have bigger turbo and injectors I think so I ended up with 235 bhp and 540bm from the 190. That’s gone now and I have the 272 with a map. That’s somewhat a different beast lol

Issue sorted one loose connection n/s and o/s wire had broke at solder so a quick resolder and all good 👍
  11. 12" extension and on a ramp with a breaker bar then ratchet Doing it on the floor is hard as you have no space
  12. Thaks for that. I'm dropping from my 2016 190tdi to a 2019 150tdi in a couple of months.......... and I don't want to feel robbed of power/torque.
  13. The tank is 45 litres off on the ground it might actually hold 52 litres. But actually there is the tank. Then up the pipe so brimmed. Then some VENT the tank if they are away to use the extra litres they get in. Read about venting. Many will warn you against it. Ps you have a limited time to edit if not a freedom member.
  14. Just throwing my last two (inc current) in the mix as I record consumption using Fuelly. I do mostly long drives (commute is 100 mile round trip on dual carriageways) so it helps! Usually I fill to brim each time. Mk3 (65 plate) Superb 1.6 TDi Manual - average 56.5mpg tracked over 122,421 miles Mk4 (70 plate) Octavia 2.0 TDi Manual - average 68.6mpg over 24,495 miles so far Very happy with the Octavia's efficiency, especially given current fuel costs!
  15. Most likely as not supposed to be torn. You will know as soon as the replacement is fitted if it was the cause.
  16. Not an iV, but for reference/comparison, on my recent road trip in the mk4 1.5tsi I was filling up when convenient (and before the red warning light came on) and was doing 530 - 580 miles between fill ups. Overall, the road trip returned 59.2mpg, which was way better than my expectations. Two people and a boot full of luggage (& bottles of wine 😁). Weather ranged from wet & blustery mid-teens C to a balmy/sunny high twenties C. Roads included everything from autoroutes to county lanes to high mountain passes.
  17. I did and it was about 3-4x the price of having them machined (for discs from known brands, there were cheaper aftermarkets). I only paid 10€/disc to have them machined, plus they had very little wear since I do a defensive driving and use the brakes sparingly. On top of that, I got the discs back the same day, whereas the prices I mention were on-line with 1-2 weeks delivery (auto-doc). I did not price them locally but suspect they would be a heavy bit more from known brands.
  18. As people have said it all depends on you journey profiles. Mine tend to be (75% of journeys) long ish (100 miles) weekly commutes so diesel works for me: Octavia Mk3.5 2.0 TDi DSG Long Term (150000 miles) - 56mpg Octavia Mk4 2.0 TDi DSG Long Term (7500 miles - same journeys) - 66mpg I am very happy with the Mk4 (now its software is fixed!) its noticeably more economical than the identical Mk3... accepting I now need to add AdBlue but I don't add much as I do long journeys and it hardy drops. Round town, on short journeys, clearly the iv would be a far better option with a home charger. Friend has had a Hybrid and not filled it up in 9 months! Horses for courses, as they say.

Thanks matrix2020 So it seems that a Data Plan isn’t the sole way to continue receiving online updates after year 1 and that an Infotainment Online licences delivers map updates as well. For the first 20 months of ownership the Navigation, Voice Control etc did not work effective on my car. Following the recent large SW updates most issues are now resolved and I have good functionality. Shame though that my Maps Data base is no longer up to date. So for the first 20 months I used AppleMaps and (better still in my opinion) GoogleMaps via CarPlay (when Bluetooth connected which it often didn’t until recently). So despite at last having a functioning Navigation System and Voice Assistant, it looks as though I may soon revert to GoogleMaps. Thing is, with Bluetooth at last connecting reliably so I can use my phone in the car, I am nervous about switching over to CarPlay (which uses wifi) …. Just in case.
  20. FWIW, In 8th June Auto Express 3 car road test, a new model 1.5TSI SEL Karoq came out tops versus a revised & improved 1.2 GrandLand & 1.3 Quashquai - for driving enjoyment & comfort (18" wheels), space & quietness + predictably the fastest. More relevant to this thread, with a bigger engine, the official 42.8mpg wasn't as good as the 44.8 & 44.1mpg of the others, but they said that in the testing the Skoda readily bettered the official figure, but the Vauxhall regularly did worse. The Karoq at 58.2% seems to hold it's value better after 3 years, Nissan 50% & Vauxhall 42% and surprisingly they found it was also the cheapest to insure. Compared to the others the Karoq is only superficially updated, but maybe the early 1.5 problems are overcome.
  21. The back end is the same across Seat, Skoda and VW, and the infotainment units etc. are all the same too - the UI is just skinned differently in each. So, unfortunately, the same problems exist across all of them too. My solution is to not let the wife drive my car and only use the one key 😎.

For the first time this year there are 10 octavias on stock in Slovenia - 6 Combi and 4 hatch - so things are improving. Its just sad that škoda doesn't finish and deliver the cars based on order date (FIFO method).
  23. DSG service on this model is 80,000 miles ! Confirmed by Skoda and my dealer. I have the same year model with 30,000 miles on it, only problem has been door lock on drivers door which was replaced under " All in One " warranty in April. I average 45 mpg over the year, can be 38 around suburbs and upto 54 on longer M way runs. This is corrected mpg not computer display. Overall I am very happy with the car and will keep it for a good while.

So basically, if you have luck your car was not already started, but once when try start producing it it will be faster than cars that are half finished. I did get information from dealer, that my car should be delivered around 34/2022. and it's still not in production. No VIN or anything. I did order it on 30 July 2021. But I am not sure it this information is correct, I would like to believe that is, because I will get my car sooner, and if it was parked somewhere no one can know...
  25. @parsey83 There is absolutely no info from Škoda side (just that is "sport exhaust system" nothing more). So I really know nothing The sound can be checked here . But from what I hear in car is just popping into the exhaust while changing gear up in hi revs or changing gear down in low revs. @sneal very nice panorama... I am planning something similar in a month... cant wait
  26. Service intervals - annually or every 10k miles, whichever comes first. DSG service is 40k miles. Ask about when the Haldex oil was changed and was the gauze filter removed from the pump and cleaned. It needs to be but it's not standard practice for any VAG main dealer. I've seen service intervals for the Haldex as low as 20k miles advised recently. Which engine output is it? The most common is the 150 PS TDI. In that case, you might anticipate 40 - 45 mpg average unless you drive very gently. Our 190 TDI tends to return c. 38 mpg overall, driven enthusiastically. HTH
  27. So the iV is saving about £600 per year vs petrol Looking at the price list (SEL spec) the iV hybrid costs £5335 more than 1.5 tsi DSG. (£34,800 vs £29,465 for hatchback) So it takes 9 years of fuel saving at £600 per year to cover the extra cost. Sort of implies unless you intend to not change the car for at least a decade don’t bother with the hybrid
  28. I live about quarter of a mile from a roundabout on the A610 where it changes from SPECS controlled 30 to a so called 40 dual carriageway which was national speed limit and after a set of lights, the local ****s on two or four wheels use it as a drag stip as there are no side roads and speed traps are visible from a mile, in summer I can't have my rear windows open without being deafened and there are two thick rows of trees and a dirty great hotel to deflect the noise. When I walk down there at the weekend to get a paper, you nearly need ear defenders and the emergency vehicle sirens drive you mad in the specs area, one a minute. What these ****s don't realise is they are becoming the reason for their own demise, because they are pushing the limits, the law is cracking down but they are just too stupid to know or too ignorant to care.
  29. That is how hybrids are, perfect for those that they suit, horses for courses, or those with BIK and are getting the financial benefit but not using less fuel. There are EV drivers going to hybrids because charging is a PITA on longer trips but for short journeys they charge at home or work or free someplace, but for longer trips they are not spending an hour extra charging for every 150-200 miles. Yesterday in an EV i did 350 miles then 150 today. Set off fully charged, 4 charging seasons and sitting with 120 range now. That was 3 hours spent charging & that was lucky as straight onto chargers. (Cost me nothing as all free Rapid / 50 kW charging in Scotland, and free 7 kW before i set off.)
  30. This promises to be an interesting thread, and while I can't easily give fuel costs per mile (without digging the spends from a different application, and sifting one car from another) I can give fuel consumption figures for my last three cars - each based on brim - brim calculations... 59.33 mpg - Octavia Mk2 Estate 1.6TDi Manual over 67500 miles 48.94 mpg - Superb Mk2 Hatch 1.4 TSi Manual over 56200 miles 54.82 mpg - Octavia Mk4 Estate 1.5 TSi ACT Manual over 12500 miles The Octavia Mk4 had 2500 miles on the [virtual] clock when I got it so currently a tad over 15,000 - and the fuel economy is getting better. At [a stab at] current fuel price of £1.87/Ltr (£8.50/gallon), the Mk4 works out at 15.51 p/mile. I'm doing about 15k miles a year, a lot of which is made up of long journeys. Would be interesting to see the petrol costs for a hybrid over a 400 mile trip from Hampshire to Lanarkshire, for example.
  31. Our Octavia iV estate is now almost perfect, except for the insulation required for the 400 volt battery to prevent a fire risk. It's the best car I've ever driven: the looks and performance are exceptional, the economy is superb (85mpg overall) and both my wife and I love it. It's been a long haul to get to this position (seven trips to the dealer for warranty work) so I assume that the latest Octavia hybrids will be fault-free. As for the touchscreen HVAC controls, the bottom right side of the screen just needs a quick tap to change the temperature for the driver, but not mentioned is the voice control. Just ask for the required temperature setting for which seat and it works perfectly. You can also use voice control for the satnav, such as the nearest fuel station or a named supermarket and again it's faultless. Also if you have a dog, the boot level is much lower than the other hybrids we looked at (Citroen and Peugeot) plus the boot is enormous. The build quality is excellent and the ride is superb, despite the low-profile tyres. I have just one criticism: I miss the reversing camera, which was fitted to our Karoq, but otherwise it is a brilliant car. It's a shame that Skoda/VW used early buyers to snag the software problems, but I'd certainly buy another one, because there is nothing to compare with the Octavia.
  32. I'm blaming you for putting the rot on the sun...🤪

LoL 😅 Rules at Škoda factory must be something like this: Let the people that are waiting for 12 months + wait some more time, in the meantime we should focus on 6 month old orders and finish them instead. Also when assembling the old ones from parking lots, take the newest orders first. Those who have their cars parked for months can wait a few months more 👍 🤦
  35. Another very satisfied customer of Pete's. I'm so glad that I came across his posts on the Polo forums and then also on Briskoda. I'd previously searched the likes of Ebay and that is probably a minefield of untested units and being sold for more than Pete's service for a refurb unit. Pete provides an absolutely top notch service with updates at each stage. I took full advantage of the service exchange program to save stripping the faulty one out first, sending it off and waiting for it to be returned to me. The refund was processed just as soon as the faulty unit was delivered back to him.
  36. Wow, i thought i could just use any kit, i did not think LHD/RHD would affect it..in my country it is RHD, i already chose my vehicle, i am getting a special edition Octavia Style that has been factory configured with some extra options as it was a vehicule meant to be displayed for the launching of the brand, so i get 18" wheels, an extra airbag in the dash, blind spot monitoring, two spoke steering wheel (three spoke on all octavias here), and other options which i am yet to discover😁

How many men do you intend to keep in your boot? 🤔
  38. If I remember correctly the part was about £35 and I was told they fitted it in from the top by piggy backing the old switch. I was also told the same whilst chatting to one of the techies at our Skoda dealer when our Superb was in for service. I did manage to find a PDF of the procedure for a golf, just to get an idea what was involved but I had extended warranty so left it to VW but it doesn't look a difficult job. I've attached it for you to have a look RCRIT-19V615-0044.pdf
  39. Roaming the wild badlands of Scotland in ragged biker leathers, sawn-off at your side, as you drive the last of the V8 Interceptors? Or would it be more like in Doomsday, with that 2007 Bentley Continental GT... in which case, can I have Rhona Mitra?
  40. I would just like to add my comments and recommendation to Pete’s window motor repair service offer. I am a new member on this Forum and was surprised and delighted by the incredibly fast response I received. From the moment I made contact with Pete he was absolutely superb with the information provided, his support and communication. Once he confirmed my defective motor would seem to be one he may be able to repair, I sent him the motor on the Monday before the Jubilee weekend. I was aware he would be unable to look at it before the Jubilee Friday but even considering that, I had my repaired and fully working motor back to my door on the following Monday! A truly incredible service. At the same time it has been so much more economical to utilise this option and also to save a perfectly repairable motor being discarded, not to mention the considerably higher cost of purchasing a new, or even secondhand, replacement. Should any other member find themselves needing a solution to an electric window motor repair problem, I cannot recommend Pete’s service highly enough. He did me an excellent deal all round and he will be my first point of contact in the event I ever have any similar problems. Many thanks for your support Pete. 👍 An all round first class gent.
