yes i know how you feel,it is 13 months tomorrow since i ordered my car.we ordered a new car and now we will be getting a older model.like a few on here i will never order another skoda.what happened to the system that has worked for many years.ie you order the car and then you go onto a waiting list and when you get the top you get your car.yet again we are talking about the world that skoda lives on they are a complete joke and how they can not see this is beyond me.
  3. This is the one which has the updated file links for the Columbus too.
  4. House ac systems same as fridges are completely different from automotive ac systems. The house systems have a hermetically sealed compressor and as such the system is completely sealed. Vehicle system are different as the compressor is open and relies on shaft seals also the system has flexible hoses to allow for vibration/ movement etc all of which are prone to gas permeating out of the system . It is generally accepted that automobile ac systems can loose up to 10% of refrigerant annually .
  5. Well, it'll be similar to currently visiting fuel stations........ if/when there are as numerous charging hubs as petrol stations. The hope is to have many cheaper lamp-post or other street level charging to enable less time wasted going to rapid chargers. But it's like parking in front of one's house on a terraced street, pot luck! Which is to say not ideal if you actually need a charge for next day. TBH it's the same with everything: Poorer people can't afford to buy bigger houses, thereby don't have off-street space for car (no EV, higher cost of mobility), no in-door space for storage (no bulk buy discount, higher cost of living) and if living in flats, don't have roof access for solar panels (energy poverty).

So ordered my Octavia estate IV SE techno back in July 21 and I finally have a VIN and a registration number 😃 Things looking good for delivery in under two weeks! I’m leasing for a couple of years and just happened to order via leaseloco when prices were at their lowest. For exactly the same deal now with all the same criteria through the same lease company, the deposit has gone up to £3709 from £1600 and monthly payments to £605 from £270. To say I’m happy is an understatement!!

1/2 (34l) tank of Momentum99 at Tesco New Malden one month ago today = £1.75pl. 1/2 (36l) tank Momentum99 at Tesco New Malden today = £1.97pl. It’s absolutely feckin ridiculous. Wish I still had my 1962 NSU Quickly…🙄
  9. For some reason I read that and I get an internal monologue in Geoff Boycott's voice "bloody modern integrated rubbish.... In my day...."

  11. http://www.drivedundeeelectric.co.uk/dundee Where they come up with the 51% mentioned here i have no idea. It is the 49% that must be a total crap figure that is a figment of someones imagination. As many as 50% certainly do not have driveways or off street parking. As many as 80 % if they bothered to get the correct numbers. http://drivedundeeelectric.co.uk/multi-storey-car-parks http://drivedundeeelectric.co.uk/on-street-charging-posts The divide might be nothing to do with if you can charge at home. Plenty can charge at home but without a cheap charging tariff they are not charging at home. Public and workplace charging can be cheaper or even free. (3 prestige cars EV /Hybrids and an ID3 are charging right now free at my local Tesco and have been there so far for hours they will be there for many hours more. All have home chargers.) People get cars & vans cheap or free from their work / employer and might have no home charging. That are lots and lots of EV drivers. I am tight and charge free where and when a can and i could have a home charger more than just one that uses a 3 pin plug but that will be only used now in to defrost the car if even then. Loads of Disabled people or the family / driver in the UK now have EV's from Motability for under £10 a day and have no Home Charger Facilities. Lots of people not working / retired have PHEV's or BEV's and no home chargers. The divide is how much people pay to have an EV / PHEV and how much it costs to charge and can they afford them. Public charging cost is making some just run an ICE vehicle or PHEV if they need to travel distances in areas with crap public charging, or expensive charging or just not enough chargers for those now needing to charge cars when not near home, or cheaper than at home.

Yeah, I keep seeing more and more Skodas here in Finland, and each time I get envious Where is MY car?!
  13. I've said this previously years ago, there'll be a divide between have driveways and have-not. With energy price ever increasing, the poverty divide will also be seen in solar panel have and have-not. But your statement comparing petrol station vs charge point is not quite correct. EV's can charge at different speeds, mainly destination AC "fast" charging and en-route rapid charging. Charging at home or near home is considered destination charging, having the ability to do this makes EV ownership so much easier and much cheaper. So the have-charge-point/driveway people can drive 3p/mile while have-not will have to drive at cost of 9p/mile. That's why people should have charge point at home, because the car is parked unused for vast majority of the time. The batteries in EV are a valuable asset that can be used to help the grid by charging overnight (and in the future, feed back into the house to reduce cost of leccy during peak times)
  14. So Fabia decided to be retired from duties and ended up getting an Octavia 1.9 ALH which sadly lasted 13 days before someone never seen us stopped on the M8 in traffic and took out 4 cars and bent the shell on it, shame as it was a clean car with the BBS wheels on it. Ended up getting an E46 330D wagon but didn't like it so that got changed to a drift car and then got this Octavia Sport with the superior PD140 BKD over the 170. Bits of rush here and there but it's a daily, Bought it with the Touran wheels already on it. Not even had it 2 months and already put 10k on it, only been cleaned once. Took it to Crail this first weekend i had it to see what kinda of performance figures it would do. against a friends Astra GSI he said he would give me a headstart to the 60ft then missed a gear Then the changes started 🙄 Lights coverted over to LED's why can't all companies make the bulbs on these as easy to change as they are on these new style key RCD330 Plus Fascia so it fits better Citigo Monte Carlo Flat bottom steering wheel stickers Some subtle perforance mods as well. Trip to pod with MRC Tuning for Doorslammers back to crail after some changes against a PD150 1756 bora turned it up for this one just to make sure seems to do well as a daily
  15. Lovely sky for reflections this evening
  16. London, with another cross rail coming, whilst the rest of the country get next to nothing… Still I’m sure charging infrastructure in London will benefit the whole country 🙄🙄🙄 Rather than doing more for those with the best public transport in the country, perhaps funding should go to those areas where car is the only choice!
  17. Don't see anything wrong with the spoiler already on it..................on the flip side................. what is it with fitting tyres to narrow for the wheels....................I just don't get it, think it looks terrible................sure makes the curb protection band on the tyres a bit useless 😆

  19. Looks like they've not released the latest display unit firmware for my hardware version yet, the new car I'm getting is hardware version between yours and mine and has the newer firmware (giving my car back because of a load of other faults with it and getting a different one) but yes your hardware version is same as mine, so I'd believe it should have the new firmware, 1896 is the latest
  20. Bit late but when you originally changed the rear bumper when you put in the fog light into it what rear bumper was that if you don’t mind me asking ?
  21. Correct. You'll lose the saved time in the clock too. But these are all just a bit 'first world problems' if you ask me. The handbook states how to set the clock, as well.

Can't you bend a metal rod, coat hanger or similar and use as a caliper to size the discs, then measure. Not sure if the wheels will allow it though on your car?

  27. The map updates for Columbus come out every 6 months and I'm currently on maps for 2022/23, which came out last month, so yours are well out of date. I updated them before our trip to Croatia that I'm current on to hopefully cover any new junctions, roads, etc. In about 5 months from now, the 2023 maps will be out. You'll need to download the update onto SD or USB and then press the update when it's loaded and can be read and updated. There are plenty of threads on here explaining how to update the maps and overcome common problems.
  28. Mine's a hatch, which is a different design to the combi but I've had the same problem over the years and have been pushing the chrome strips back on both sides back whenever they've come loose. Just over a week ago I was on the Dover-Calais ferry and the nearside must have come loose when SWMBO was getting in the car as we going along the French motorway about 15 minutes after starting our journey when there was a metallic noise from the nearside. When we stopped for our first night, I discovered that the top chrome strip had gone and the V section at the end of the door was bent, so I'm going to have to replace these. I can only assume the wind got behind it and pulled it off as we gathered speed. I can't blame SWMBO for not noticing if it'd come loose as I opened the door for her. I may have missed it as it was noisy on the car deck and the light was poor. I hope a new chrome strip will fit firmly on the rubber as I'm worried that after pushing the old one back many times, the rubber strip will be tired and not hold it properly. I think the chrome strips are just an interference fit, so they shouldn't be too difficult to replace. We're in Croatia at the moment and won't be back for another week when I'll look at the problem.
  29. If the boot handle has suddenly stopped working, then it's probably the microswitch that's failed The only setting that's related is this: So I'd check that before replacing the boot handle
  30. hi, Im no expert but you will need a new BCM or send off your current BCM for reprogramming and then you'll need to run a new harness for the cruise control and you'll need to add more pins into the fuse box as pins for non options are removed as standard like my car has no pins for heated seats as i don't have the option fitted. Its not going to be a easy job I was looking at it for my mk2 11 plate did not seem worth it i could be wrong though pete is the expert when it comes to wiring.
  31. Ouch mate!, glad its fixed though and out of curiosity, How much did they charge to fix the mech in your part of the world?

  37. I mapped my VRS TDi and did it for improved driveability and have not looked back. Mine was done by Superchips Bluefin so I can always reinstall the standard map should I need to. Plus it was only £345 all in. Mapping done right is the one if the best mods to do.
  38. Supposedly this is the week my Kodiaq should be build. Checked last Friday with the dealer and no pushbacks. Hoping there are enough parts for finishing...
  39. The EGT will vary depending on how hard you drive the car. Driven normally the EGT will be within normal range. To get EGT that high you would need to drive it hard for quite a long time.
  40. Its impossible for an engine starting from either cold or ambient temperature to overheat in less than a minute even if the thermostat were stuck closed, your attention should be aimed towards the coolant temperature sensor.

  42. Hi If you have simply paralleled up the trailer lights to the car's lights as used to be done years ago, the extra current load (if the trailer uses ordinary filament bulbs) will upset the bulb failure monitoring part of the CANbus system. You either need a dedicated wiring kit, or something that uses relays with low current coils, the extra current of the coils isn't enough to upset things. Alternatively, if the bike rack lights are all LEDs, their low current might mean that the simple paralleling approach will work.
  43. There is no security chip... It's just the CID (Card ID, sort of like a serial number) that needs to be present on the allowed list. You can't wipe the CID during a format and generally speaking, it's impossible to change the CID Formatting is absolutely fine as per this guide:
  44. CJJE and others Absolutely correct. AA has stopped working, stand alone, on my phone, but continues to work when connected by cable to the infotainment unit.

Well finally went for a test drive Not a long one, like 20mins. In the v3 small 58 battery, no e-boost. Possibly the one I’d consider. Different to the enyaq in almost every way. The one thing I didn’t like was. The way to select ‘performance’ over ‘eco’, it was three screen taps. Far to many to deal with pre overtake opportunity, and crucially post. Superb, just tap it into sport off we go. Touch screens great, but the old physically button would be nice. I know the teslas you need to use the screen/mobile app to open a glove box… it’s bonkers, but all good for the bean counters. Surprisingly unthrashy on potholes and poor roads as we have up here in sheffield. An enyaq 60 and this are the same (near enough) on pcp. As much as I don’t want a SUV, the born isn’t that much smaller. Only 70cm narrower, lighter, bit shorter… but not a huge amount, yet boot is considerably smaller. Coming from the superb this is a thing Still 500 a month, 3k down 10k pa 48months. On paper I was pegging the superb at 400 a month; I paid cash but need to replace that pot… So it kind of makes sense. Plus I can get one in a month if I don’t want options
  49. Just throwing my last two (inc current) in the mix as I record consumption using Fuelly. I do mostly long drives (commute is 100 mile round trip on dual carriageways) so it helps! Usually I fill to brim each time. Mk3 (65 plate) Superb 1.6 TDi Manual - average 56.5mpg tracked over 122,421 miles Mk4 (70 plate) Octavia 2.0 TDi Manual - average 68.6mpg over 24,495 miles so far Very happy with the Octavia's efficiency, especially given current fuel costs!

A preview of the new VW MEB software shipping "soon" to existing models. For those that don't know, VW have announced a service campaign to replace the 12V battery with an improved one, upgrade firmware in several hardware modules to make the software updateable over the air (OTA) and install software version 2.4 into the cars. After this, software version 3.0 will arrive via an OTA later in the year.
