Ok so after being given a “provisional build week of 12th sept” I surprisingly got an email Sept 13th to say my car was complete and currently waiting shipment to the UK from a port In Germany. And to expect delivery mid October. I’m as shocked as everyone else. I will update the spreadsheet.
  3. Another colourful sky last night
  4. I have driven automatics before as part of my work, I have the dry DSG Monte Carlo 1.5 and I am smugly pleased with it. Smooth and almost as quick as a manual box.

Gz mate and here’s to many safe kms 🥂😊
  6. I can only third the above. Wanted a manual but could not find one [VRS] with the spec I wanted, I did find a DSG so bought it, 4 years ago. Not looked back, it's been faultless. Wife was unsure at first but now she would love one. It's just finding something sensibly priced in these times. I wouldn't go back to manual now, a convert for sure.
  7. Mines been faultless. No way would I go back to a manual.
  8. Just to say the struts I purchased arrived and I fitted them yesterday. They are perfect. I saw a video last week that said you need to be careful undoing the clips to release them but the new units include clips so I don't know why. One tip - have a long piece of wood or such handy to prop the boot open because though I replaced them one at a time - the remaining old one could not cope with the hatch weight.
  9. A feature of every car less than 20 years old I have owned or rented. Current UK rental Vauxhall Corsa can do about 100 miles before fuel level starts to drop. Very economical when up to speed (averaging 4.9l/100 over the last 860 miles calculated from refuels) but the skins on rice puddings can rest safe in their bowls when a bit of power is actually needed
  10. If the old struts are only just holding their own and the ball sockets are worn then removing the first clip could result in the strut jumping off and the tailgate clouting you on the head. When I had my first detached retina I was put in a twin room in the French hospital, as there was another Anglais in with the same injury they thought it a good idea to put us together (it wasn't!), he told me he his detachment was caused by him standing up after leaning into the rear of his car and banging his head on the tailgate, knowing the impact needed to cause such an injury in a person with normal intra-ocular pressure and that his tailgate had not dropped I struggled to understand how it could have come about. Then his wife visited, he pretended to be asleep and it all became very clear 😆
  11. I have a DSG 1.6 diesel estate. Gearbox is seamless - recommended!
  12. Previous Octavia 2.0tdi was dsg. Current Passat GTE is based on the same dq250 box (with a bit extra for the electric bit) and both have been great.
  13. I'll DM you in case my wife happens to look on this forum 🤣
  14. Sorted, KG Electronics Birmingham 07886 480622. Very quick service
  15. Mrs Gaz has a 2015 Polo GTI DSG - her first DSG and she'll never go back to a manual. While I've got a Golf GTI now, my previous car was a 2015 Octavia vRS DSG. All three DSG's we've had have, like ords', been faultless. I really can't see a reason to change. Manual's are so last season 😇 Gaz
  16. ... and the driver's style of driving in those conditions. In 1986 I had a Renault 5GT Turbo which ran 195 profile tyres on a car that weighed nor much more than a baked bean can. On my way to work in central Camberley one showy morning I had to drive up a steep hill from a bridge over the M3, on arriving at the bottom of the hill I was confronted by a long line of cars making no progress at all, but by careful throttle control and use of left foot braking to control the inevitable wheelspin I drove up the hill with no problems at all - much to the annoyance of several stuck 'Chelsea tractors'.

Saturday afternoon jobs. Removed the hardwired CB I’ve never used. Will wire it to a power plug so I can move it between cars. Reinstalled the original electric aerial. Need to find the other end of its power wiring and make it work. I had to take the back seat and passenger seatbelt mount out to get to the wire, turns out I hid it well Had a good spray around the boost pipes with engine start (best product name ever). No changes in engine note so that’s encouraging. Changed both fuel pump relay and starter relief relay for new ones. Finally removed the stickers and washed both cars.
  18. Is this by chance a DSG automatic, if so the DSG thermostat causes what you experienced? Loads of write ups about it including mine somewhere. Easy to change. I had it on a Superb 2. So check that forum.
  19. Doesn't everything these days.😬
  20. Covers are off! Kitchen is almost done, bit of decorating to complete then this thing WILL be getting finished. I have replaced the fuel pump relay under the dash, got all of the dash plastics back in and it did start and run just fine. I only ran it for a few mins so I will at some point get it run up to temperature and see if it dies again after 20 mins... Before that though I've got the intercooler off as I was unhappy with the fitment of it so that's next to be worked on then I can get the front end built back up, bumper on and finally get it off the stands. It will need MOT'ing obviously, last MOT was almost 7 years ago......
  21. You don't have to use an SVM adapation document It just means if the Canbus gateway or the infotainment unit is returned to the factory configuration by a dealer for any reason then you'll need to redo the coding in that module. Not the end of the world

  23. Took my time in finding the one I liked the look of to replace my MIB1 with it's micro screen and ordered one that I'd seen seller/manufacturer recommended around the internet a bit for Mk3 Octy specifically and has been far better than I expected. I don't get the use out of the car to justify spending out on OEM and I like the pretty open ended possibilities that this offers and I get my bigger screen look. Octacore 4GB/64GB model on link below: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000642821453.html A bit of a rushed install as I was at home on standby when I went out to start and phone rang.... All matched up well, connected 2 supplied cables to power the inline antenna amplifier and brought all over towards centre behind screen where all would now plug into back of new unit, just enough and no more to work without stretching on RHD models. Canbus module with it works perfectly and allows full integration into all bits to play with and keep functionality for settings etc, I've retained the factory USB port as is with it an added another to glovebox as I could run 2 lines from it. Factory mic isn't utilised so has 3.5mm mic plug at back and will run one from that up to beside where factory one lives when I get a chance, inbuilt one by reviews says its just too quiet, so not even going to go there. Short clip to show some of features I have gained for £162 from those industrious folk way East. All pics and vid still have screen protector film on so makes it look a little less crisp, but does a good job for my needs and can play with Carista and VAGDPF now on the big screen finally
  24. @stickydizzle Welcome to the forum. Is it a Mk2 Fabia you have?
  25. Yes, OBDeleven can save a copy of original coding but it also keeps a step by step audit trail of changes made. Although I suspect the latter might disappear if the app was uninstalled and reinstalled.
  26. All seems to be very glowing for the DSG. My wife has a 69 plate so it’s a TSI GTi the car isn’t really for me it’s fast alright but a bit small. As for engine I currently have a diesel VRS which is fine just jealous of the DSG a little

Congratulations! Čestitke! Safe drive! Varno vožnjo! 🚙👍
  28. Track day number one done! Spent the morning at Blyton Park and I was overall very impressed with the Scirocco. I was never in anyones way, I didnt get overtaken at all, the brakes felt solid the whole time I was out on track and I used less than half a tank - not bad for a morning at the track. Now I've got the stage 1 remap booked for a couple weeks from now and I've already booked my 2nd track day (also at Blyton Park) for a couple weeks after the remap.

I did find this last night, handy if you ever wanted to know the names. https://www.schemecolor.com/skoda-auto-logo-colors.php @skomaz How's that for good timing 🤣
  30. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Well done and thanks for reporting back. I should have put the video up as it shows and reminds you to use a prop as additional and protective support whilst changing the struts as it's something you might forget in the urge to get the job done.

Suit yourself, but having run the 280 on E10 and E10 with Millers, I can assure you it works. But I agree that their material is both confusing and inaccurate, including stating it is a one-shot product too; the proof reader must’ve been on holiday or they’re just useless! That type of sloppiness drives me mad, so I sent them an email pointing out their errors and they’ve now corrected the text on their website.
  32. Like these Avocet Ultimate Locks
  33. Also @ianch99 Settlement of a loan is always possible; the issue is in whether or not the loan arrangement imposes penalties on an early settlement, and to answer that you have to read the original document in full.

Youve done the test and got the correct answer - its the maf. get a new genuine one, not any aftermarket ones, as the engine doesnt like non original sensors
  35. I'm on the Fabia Owners Club on Faceache so I'll keep my virtual ear to the ground for you.
  36. Cheers Ryan, even though it's been under a fitted cover it's covered in dust, but main focus will be to get it finally running ok then start cleaning it again. I have a custom tailpipe for the car but to get it on the road quickly I'm in need of a Milltek rear silencer, as this will mate up to the hybrid Milltek system - if you come across any for sale on the "socials" pages that is!
  37. Broken piece of plastic writes vehicle off........................ Looks like the seller has the inset part of the bumper.
  38. Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and support 🙂 The front exterior arches are now finished. I didn't bother insulating the front facing part of the liner on the passenger side since it faces the engine compartment, the auxiliary heater being closest to the liner. Pictures below. Unfortunately, I forgot to record a video prior to starting the project. Would indeed have been nice to compare the results. I listened to some of my dashcam footage after insulating the car, but the sound does not really represent what you hear as a driver/passenger. I might record a video with my phone if I find a way of fastening it in the cabin. Around 16 kg of material has been added in total.
  39. The sky was so very colourful for a few moments earlier........
  40. This caught my eye today, the 1's making the spacing look unusual:
  41. Well that's another year covered ! £410 All component with zero excess pretty good value I think. Like all insurance it's a gamble but I'm happy to have peace of mind. OMG Year 8 !

Hi! Week 37 is here and last Tuesday I was at last told that my car has already been built and has transport assigned. They told me that it is transported by train instead of truck (whatever that means, as I suppose several transport methods are used anyway) and that it could take up to one and a half months to arrive to the dealer. Light at the end of the tunnel... Cheers

just had notification from the lease company that my car is ready for collection/delivery to me. Just need to book a convenient time with them. vrs iv estate, canton, dcc, pano roof. ordered may 2021, i hope it’s not broken when it arrives.
  44. So happy with my new black plates! At least she can look pretty in the garage while I’m fixing the problems!
  45. 600km road trip did not go as planned! I made it to my destination with several issues. It started when I hit a bump in the road and immediately lost all boost. Turning the car off and on brought it back. From that point, the car gradually restricted boost more and more as it ran, to the point where after 10-30 minutes of driving I had no boost and could only cruise at 3500rpm with no throttle. Hills were very tricky. And New Zealand is hilly. Stopping the engine and restarting gave all the boost back each time, until it went away again. Also I seem to have lost part of a transmission or engine mount. Then it started raining hard, and it seems a new feature is that my windscreen lets water in at both bottom corners. Above the wiring and relays at one side and the ecu at the other. Also the boot is leaking. So a very frustrating day. Another #gumbootrally almost attended! We did the rally in another car so all was not lost. https://i.imgur.com/Bl8cTPB.jpg https://i.imgur.com/eqXai9K.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EZdGvx1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/GO77bcM.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9lmlA2R.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MZwZpfD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/hWvLSeF.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HPiIbOr.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SoRX4Z4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kh3gxzt.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rF8ifVQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8AcrMUi.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HLasApY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/b8JQOKL.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nKdw5CA.jpg https://i.imgur.com/aSvXz9L.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KwRkASl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vfeElnu.jpg
  46. The Driver power survey of dealers has just been released, and Skoda were 16th of 16 (some brands were not included due to not enough responses) This year and its widely publicised shortages of new cars have brought frustration for many buyers, who have been kept waiting for deliveries, often with little effective communication from dealers. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/driver-power/92307/best-car-dealers-2022 Skoda : The results show it’s the new-car sales side that’s keeping the Czech brand’s scores down, with buyers ranking the firm’s retail operations next to bottom in the survey. Buyers don’t appear that impressed either by dealership facilities, staff performance or the deals they’re driving away with. That translates as parking provision scoring poorly, and low ratings for product knowledge and explanations during handovers, as well as low satisfaction with prices. Skoda’s aftersales scores are more middle of the range, with a 10th place for courtesy, and 11th for workmanship, but only 16th for dealer facilities.
  47. Do you really believe that? The UK climate was not seen as unsuitable for "summer" tyres until the marketting people dreamt up the phrase to promote the sales of M&S (mud & snow) tyres henceforth known as "Winter tyres", now I know that some parts of the UK are much colder and have more snow than the South East where I was born but aside from Farmers and 4x4 offroaders nobody I knew changed to M&S or snow tyres during winter unless they were going to the Alpes to work the ski season. I have been driving 45 years and only heard of winter tyres since moving to France where they are mandatory to drive on certain roads in certain departments during the winter months. In those 45 years I have never until recently seen circumferential cracking between the treads, UV degraded sidewalls yes but the treads never really see daylight, the change has happened since the rubber compounds started being made from recycled dildos. I would propose that there is no such thing as a summer tyre, aside from winter tyres and all season tyres all others are common or garden tyres exactly as they have been for a century until the tyre companies started manipulating the hard of thinking by coining the phrase "summer tyres", they will be having a wet dream to see how enthusiastically their work is being done for them on the internet.
