  1. brake cleaner pump bottle for sale | eBay I just converted my company to using simple things like this instead of aerosol cans for isopropyl alcohol, massive saving in cost and environmentally.
  2. Started a thread about showing my car a bit of love. Bought it at 68k 4 years ago now on 99k. Wife has used it for a commuter and then myself so bit run down just needing a bit of tlc. When it needed new front brakes I fitted some 312’s with VW OE discs and pads. Serviced the car last week. This week fitted some braided lines and new calipers as the front left has been binding. and as little treat it’s had one of these just need to give it a good clean and then work on the prepping the spiders. not the best story teller but trying to keep a log of what I have done
  3. Forget Water Dispersant 40; use PlusGas or GT85 instead.
  4. At a guess, the car shown above is brilliant silver? 2017 brochure lists the below, 2019 drops denim blue and cappuccino beige.

Just been advised that mine is about to go into production within the next couple of weeks and is expected in the UK in Mid January. 🙏
  6. Thank you for the reply and you are correct in the settings you stated. The job is now finished. Thanks again.
  7. If there is an increase if revs without the road speed increasing at the same rate, then suddenly the revs dip and match the gearbox/road speed, the clutch is not able to transfer all of the power from the engine into the gearbox. Whether this is because the friction plate is worn, contaminated with gearbox oil or the pressure plate isn't providing enough clamping force I can't tell you. Get yourself over to another independent garage for a second opinion.
  8. I tried each of them once and then decided to carrry on driving the car myself.
  9. Estates are great but boomy at higher speeds. Not sure if hatchbacks are but they neither have alot of sound insulation in the rear end. I paid £14k for it with 80k on the clock in April, prices have dropped a little since. Its got a very good service history so I was happy with the mileage. Looks great, definitely love those fabric quilted seats with the red insert.
  10. I've had this on every car I've owned over the last 40+ years - fuel gauges are not linear and the mileage to 'first movement from full' is usually large. On both my Octavia 3's it's been 80 miles before the gauge moves, and on my previous Audi RS4 it was over 100 miles - even on my previous Toyota Aygo it was 70 miles.
  11. Ok, Car is 38 months old and, out of warranty, with 37500 miles done, so was due its fourth fixed service. First three done by Meadens Skoda in Brockenhurst in Hampshire and all good there. I have owned it from new and I did the fourth service yesterday:- 4 litres of oil and new filter. Filter at the front of the engine from below, twist off/on. Oil drain plug is 19mm at back of engine. Spark plugs required at 40k miles so did them as well. They were a good colour but wanted doing. You need to remove the four coil packs carefully to get to the spark plugs. Only pull straight out and not at an angle. To change the spark plugs you need to remove the air filter housing, with the air filter due at 60k miles. I changed the air filter as well, perhaps this didn't need doing, as it was fairly clean with only one leaf inside the housing. Front tyres at 5 mm but changed for new ones at 27k miles, with original rear tyres down to 4 mm. Tyres rotated. Front brake pads at 10 mm and rear pads at 8mm, with all brakes stripped, cleaned and regreased. All disk faces are clean, flat and have no rust spots/patches high points. All are original brake parts. Bosch filters, NGK spark plugs and tradeTec oil came to less than £80.00 with 1 litre oil spare. The car wanted 0.5 litre of oil before the first service but has not consumed any oil since. Both service and inspection warning messages reset. Scanned car and no faults stored. All good, can't complain. I have had nothing go wrong with the car so far. Still like the car and as usual for me I will keep for a long time. Thanks AG Falco

  13. Just a little project thread showing the SE my partner bought back in June 2018, Fabia vRS SE #532. Only a few subtle changes here and there since then. This was when she first picked it up and we decided to take both the Fabia’s for a drive:
  14. I'd give it overnight for the spray to soak in and do its job, then have another crack at it. I'm a big believer in "give it a spray and walk away". Don't get too far into using the "right" sort of spray, we've all got our favourites. I had a polo one that wasn't playing ball a while ago. I cut the cable just after the tube, pulled the cables core out and was able to crush and generally fettle what was left of the shroud out where it was sticking in the back of the tube. The guides are made out of fairly thin metal, so if you've been pulling at it too much, there's a fair chance it will have gone out of shape, so it might be a battle to get the new cable in. The guide tubes aren't expensive and are easy to change. It's worth putting a bit of lubrication on the outside of the new cable shroud before you run it into the tube.
  15. Keep away from any rubber boots / seals. Thanks, AG Falco
  16. Update: After couple of weeks trying to figure out what is happening I have decided to get in touch with local car electrician. On his arrival he found broken wire from engine bay fuse box that leads to ECU. Broken wire was caused by battery tray chafing on the wire loom.
  17. Problem sorted, bonnet wasn't shut!
  18. Hello people, Octavia owner fron dennark here
  19. Was the correct type of battery fitted? Most Fabia's have an EFB stop/start type battery fitted. Thanks, AG Falco
  20. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Forget WD-40 Multi-Use for anything other than using it up on unimportant jobs. This is what I use and recommend as a penetrating lubricant, it works better and lasts longer (and smells nicer) than WD-40 Multi-Use - GT85 (formerly a British company now part of WD-40 Company). I recently got three cans from Wilco for £10 but obviously also available widely from elsewhere and at different prices (DIY, bikes, other). Shake can before use, hold upright, spray, leave to soak as long as possible overnight is good, penetrating/releasing agents always seem to work well when combined with patience.
  21. I suspect that the updates won't be as wide reaching as you hope for. I read some time ago that new VAG cars were getting an improved MIB3 infotainment system, but that it would also include new more powerful hardware to improve its response times. And I also rejoice to see VAG abandoning its touchscreen controls to return to physical buttons, but the article only mentions changes to the steering wheel buttons which are fine on my Karoq. As a side-issue, I have been experimenting on using the voice control today, and find that I can use it to control the radio, media player, satnav and telephone, but not the climate control or heating systems as more recent cars are said to be able to do. Even so it can be a usable compromise. Chris
  22. So we used to have 1 of these per bay at my old place... So roughly 8 bottles. We tried everything from pound land to £50 bottles from places like Sealey, Wurth and all the big names, even a Pierburg one. All of them whether next day or within 6 months had failed seals and needed replacing. So if youre gonna buy one, buy a tonne of rebuild kits with spare seals! Youll need them. Now for home use i just buy big amounts of aerosol brake cleaner and for the bigger cleaning jobs i either use warm neat kerosene or my aqua mix sand blaster turned right down
  23. The Octavia does, so I assume the Superb will too. I think the main function is to 'sharpen-up' the throttle response.

Well after yet more battery changes, my dealer has eventually replaced both key fobs. Fingers crossed for batter battery life. Mark.

Update. Dealer can’t get me in until 20th Dec. Advised me to call Roadside Assistance who weren’t best pleased. Spoke to another branch and car booked in for 6th Dec.
  26. I know Well, they messed up inhousing, but it doesn't mean it was a bad move as such.
  27. Nothing too fancy, just check my signature - both owned from new... plus about a dozen rental cars, various brands, from small to compact cars. - tire noise is now sorted: it's the factory Goodyear set that is too noisy, my winter set sounds great&quiet (I wrote on the other topic); - brake pedal noise on release - there are a few others mentioning it on another topic here;
  28. Smart engineers are limited by greedy accountants and management. As easy as that. And cause of that is the same all over the world - stakeholder "cult". You're not supposed to make customer happy. You're even not supposed to work for the good of the company as such. You're supposed to bring profit here and NOW, for the next quarterly report. Never mind the future. So they are looking for cheaper solutions, cheaper materials, cheaper vendors, cheaper everything. That's actually not a bad thing. Unless you buy "out-of-the-box" solutions (which in this case is not possible really), outsourcing doesn't really work. It's cheap(er) though... Depends on what you have driven before. Tyre noise for me is on par or lower than in other cars i used to own. Also on par with i.e. CLA Merc i've been considering. Haven't experienced break pedal noise or fuel tank noise in O4.
  29. @toot I’d thought about remove & refit however wasn’t sure if this would make the sticky adhesive useless? I can’t seem to fit the clips properly and the adhesive is the only thing keeping it in place lol thanks
  30. I'm in agreement, it has to a problem with the clutch, for the engine to increase in revs without an increase in road speed it must be clutch, there is nothing else in the drive train that would allow higher engine speed without the road speed also increasing.
  31. Have a look at Green Lithium on Companies House... https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/10797976
  32. They should be on the same level. That's correct. You need any kind of diagnostic tool for VAG, it can be OBD11 (that's what i used). It's needed to save new settings, otherwise computer will move lights to initial position. As for special whiteboard, you can use some wall, measuring tape and something to mark position on the wall. Height can be easily calculated. Matrix calibration and level adjustment are two separate things fortunately. I have adjusted height without touching matrix calibration.
  33. I'm interested to see how this one plays out. Sounds like a great car with a 'Worse than V6 Petrol' fuel economy at the moment. Hope it gets sorted soon and can't wait to read what the fix is/ was.

  35. Thanks for everyone's replies. It's the first time I've had any of those facilities so I'll try and see if I can work out how to use them!
  36. To be fair to the OP, some of the online manuals are not very clear - it seems that only some Mk 3 Fabias have this separate speed limiter control fitted - SWMBOs doesn't.
  37. It's probably not the switch. Check the door loom wiring, the wiring has probably broken and making intermittent contact. It's a common VW / Skoda fault with all the wiring circuits in that area of the loom. Usually the drivers door suffers the most as it's the door which opens and closes the most. The insulation looses it's elasticity becomes brittle then cracks and the copper wire inside works hardens and breaks. There are lots of threads on here about it. There is a door module in both the front doors which control the rear door modules. So if the front window stops working then it's likely so will the rear.
  38. Thanks to @maxychat and @RickB who has provided me with contact details to VAG Wizard up in Netherlands! I have exchanged couple of emails with this guys and his knowledge is absolutely amazing! ODIS error 'no-KS Master' was caused by lack of facelift instrument cluster as this, in a way, controls the radio unit (sorry if Im using wrong terms). So, dear reader, if You want to benefit from the facelift radio in Your car - You will also need a FL speedo! Having both parts from the same donor car may simplify Component Protection removal process.
  39. Cool, we went to the same guy! (Bonny) This was taken a few minutes after it was all done:

I’ve just bought a Skoda fabia Monte Carlo as my first car
  41. Check that both butterflys are held closed and that you dont have the throttle screw holding open the primary one, if they are both closed or as near as dammit for the primary one then you have an air leak downstream, check the carb to manifold gasket and all the vacuum tappings, clamp the brake servo pipe to eliminate that. I reckon its connected to whatever you assembled wrong in regards to the secondary choke actuator, my belief is that vacuum will close the butterfly and a spring will open it under absence of vacuum - mid to full throttle, something else must hold it closed for starting though. So on reflection I reckon the secondary choke is opening slightly when it should be firmly closed, look down the venturi while it is (fast) idling using a torch, try forcing it closed by hand.
  42. Would high revs indicate its too rich then? On the one hand I'm happy it's getting there. On the other it's quite stressful trying to get 2 cars through test one after the other.
  43. My TeamHeko fit perfect on all four windows You do need to force fit them to get them in place Also the team heko can be polished out😁
  44. First motorway run out, down to Taunton with the lad. Now, this is a brilliant motorway car!! >40mpg too.
  45. Thanks everyone. I'll give both those a try first. Does sound like ill have no choice but to make a trip to the dealers.ill post back if I get it working!
  46. After 15 months of waiting... Finally arrived Superb Sportline 206kw. Dad's family car
  47. So, almost 5 months into ownership, and I'm still really liking the Superb. Went down the road of lowering, with Eibach Pro-Kit, a few weeks back, and that pushed me to either buy some spacers as a temporary solution, or finally make my mind up on some wheels. Read as much as I could on sizing and offsets, but still needed to take an educated guess/leap of faith. Straying from my Japanese wheel roots, I ended up going with Judd Model One, 20x9.5 et40, in Gloss Gunmetal (would have done Brushed Titanium if they were in stock). Tyres are Michelin PS4S, 255/35r20 in size. Yes, I know that's a little larger than stock OD, but it was a deliberate choice to maintain some sidewall. No rubbing so far, thankfully. Outside pics are with the stock wheels/tyres loaded in the back, hence why it sits a little lower in those pics. Will try and get some better pics sometime over the next week or so.
  48. New owner, took delivery this week. Pretty happy with the colour!
  49. 2018 sportline 280 in business grey... Jb4'd, this is picture from today after I've ceramic coated her...scrubs up well for a 3 year old girl 👀
