  1. This evening...........
  2. I wouldn't bother with a main dealer aircon service. Overpriced for not much work. If you never turn it off, won't get bacteria buildup, the pollen filter is separate so not really any filters in the a/c system that will get cleaned during its so called service. I have known people never had it touched in 10 years, never turn it off, still works well. More realistically if you think it needs doing, get it done as a specialist every 3-4 years. I have yet to see any evidence why it needs doing every 24 months instead of every 30, or 35 or 40 months etc.
  3. You've not let anyone down, you've solved a problem. 🙂 You may even have done me a favour by encouraging me to make a brief video showing how quick and easy it is to completely remove front doors on these cars. Remind me in the summer please someone. 😊
  4. My note to the insurance company when I declared my Octavia L&K wheels and wind deflector mods
  5. I am grateful at least that they didn't attempt to "reach out" to me.
  6. I have not found anything in my collection of TPI/TSB's, but I only have the tip of the iceberg. You might just be as well to make an account with erWin Skoda, and have your VIN ready to go in a text file. You will also want to make sure that you have the ability to "print" PDF from webpages. Once you have your account, you will need to purchase 1hr of time to download your build sheet of PR codes (might not help you, but does me) and then get your repair/wiring diagrams that are really good to have. Then you can hit the online ElsaPro section where you will see among other things wiring diagrams online/repair information, but here you are looking for what we call the RED BOOK, this is where any recalls/relevant TPI's can be found (and downloaded via PDF printer function) It will be alien if you do try this yourself, so you may need to go in for another hour potentially, so digest what you got and go back in when you have rested!
  7. I'll let you know, will give them a call shortly! That's my thinking. I leave it on permanently and always have done. Never had an issue on cars I've had from new before! I thought the brake fluid change at 2 years was early but I'm having it done in April as I feel it's important for the service history, but air con service feels like a bit of a money maker at 2 years 😂
  8. @StevesTruckGreat suggestion ! They are 86mm in diameter so it wont be a big job to go to a sign outfit with a high res logo and get Hella decals made up ... Just to continue the pointless exercise 🤣 My time would probably be better spent fixing both bumpers and getting the interior tidied up Remember David Sutton's Audi driven by the real Stig in 1984 ? Its not that obvious but there are 6 Hella Rallye 2000's mounted on the front 😉
  9. To wrap up I sent the incorrect one back and a replacement was supplied. Now it is like new so thanks for the help getting sorted.
  10. Hey up, I’m still procrastinating about changing my xenon bulbs. There’s a picture/video showing how to do it and I noticed that on his car he has foam which I guess is sound deadening. On the same video someone said their Sportline didn’t have it, but is it on SE-L as standard? The video for reference
  11. Yeah, just ask John Wayne Bobbit.
  12. For parking in areas like the roadside or layby where the speed limit is greater than 30 mph. As per the Highway Code in the UK, as has been the case for decades. Highway Code Waiting & Parking. 238-252.
  13. Way too much rear bumper, looks quite horrible if that’s how it’ll end up looking
  14. The car will light up like Xmas tree, various warnings. Normally turn wheel full lock left/right and it goes away, as it needs to know end points for steering rack. You shouldn't have any big issues with the swap really, other than the hefty weight. Best if you can do a nice long run for an hour if possible to give the battery a nice solid start in life. Better still if you have a battery charger and give it a charge before fitting as I did to my 096 AGM, but no worry if not.
  15. @varooom Cheers for the link @AnnoyingPentium You're absolutely right, I was always going to declare them to be safe. I just can't figure out what to declare them as because 'wind deflectors' isn't an option I can choose from when trying to edit my policy. Sadly it's as difficult as always to try to contact my insurance to try to ask
  16. Wondered if this was just me. 22 plate monte mk4 with the same issue. I find I have to hold down the boot release. Even then it doesn't work every time. I've started just double pressing unlock now, not ideal!
  17. 2 points
Lol bloody auto text was meant to be outer and inners

What you get up to with routers and dinners while your car is stripped down is nobody's business but your own!😂 On a more informative note, is there any brand/supplier that folk have had really good experience with? I think I'll be needing ones for my vRS this year and will probably go genuine but am interested to hear if there are maybe any stronger made joints out there?
  19. It looks like these are just for standard cars the top option being for the hatch, the lower being for the saloon and estate. I don't think the vRS ever had an option for the rears. Someone more knowledgeable can correct me if I'm wrong though. I trust the OP is therefore aware that the mudflaps themselves or the bumper will require a little modification to fit?
  20. You need to show details of or a photograph of the kit, without that nobody has any way of knowing what the wiring kit consists of, whether it is a low impedance triggering relay, a supposedly universal canbus interface or an OE towing module with plug in looms.
  21. What do you expect from a company that can't even publish the recommended grade of engine oil in the owner's manual ?
  22. Just called Skoda, quoted £159! Think I'll give that a miss for now 🤣
  23. Parking lights are the side lights on one side or the other. If you leave the indicator stalk to either the left or the right then the side lights on that side (parking lights) are left turned on with the ignition off - so did you check the indicator stalk on returning to the car?
  24. @varooom might find you anything that is in the system. He had been a great help to many here and further afield.
  25. Which version of keys or Kessy do you have, with some versions of kessy (where can keep key in pocket) you can walk up to the boot and it unlocks without unlocking the doors. (but I don't know if Fabia mk4 has that) So really only need the middle button to lock it up again, but most would just use the lock button. @munkebo66 can I suggest you check the locking settings in infotainment first, go into, car, then settings, scroll to the option with locking and tick or untick what you want. It might just be set up differently to how you expect and not a fault. Only if then still have a problem contact the dealer. Actually if it is new car, spend a few minutes and go into every setting in the list and set it up with your choice. Mine was delivered with a safety system off, either the front radar or blind spot monitoring (I forget which now), but if I hadn't been through list wouldn't have known.
  26. If this helps anyone, 2B1 is the code for the underbonnet 3W3 Are the codes used on these parts 14 & 15
  27. If i were setting up another home office i would be looking ot do something like the below So Ethernet cable from house to switch Switch then has the Wireless Access point and phone plugged in you can then if needed plug anything else in, like a laptop or desktop with out using the Wifi if you wanted to a cable connection will normally be a much faster and reliable connection to Wifi a switch like this you want to make sure its a gigabit switch these days as they have a higher transfer speed for the connection https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-Ethernet-Unmanaged-Internet-Splitter/dp/B07PYSNSDD/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=gigabit+switch&qid=1676592064&refinements=p_89%3ANETGEAR&rnid=1632651031&s=computers&sprefix=giga%2Caps%2C93&sr=1-1 Wireless access point like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-EX6410-100UKS-AC1900-Wi-Fi-Extender/dp/B07NY41HW1/ref=sr_1_26?keywords=wireless+access+point&qid=1676592163&refinements=p_89%3ANETGEAR&rnid=1632651031&s=computers&sprefix=wirless+%2Ccomputers%2C78&sr=1-26 How fast is your Broadband in the house as depending on the wifi point you use in the shed it could give you a reduced speed that's the only thing to really watch out for. Plenty of other options to the ones above but if you living on video calls etc id pay a bit more to have a better connection in the shed:) my brackground is in IT and telecoms as a FYI
  28. sadly we don't get the L&K version here in Australia. however we got a lot of options as standard, and option packs to add on top. so whilst mine is officially a "Style" (according to mySkoda app, and erWin), it has most of the things that u c on the L&K. regarding the insulation padding in the wheel arch - i'm not sure what classes they've got going. i couldn't find anything obvious in my vehicle build sheet apart from "2B1 - Additional exterior noise suppression" and "3W3 - Special interior noise suppression". not sure if that has any influence.
  29. Your lighting switch is in the sidelight position. The buzzing noise is to warn you when you leave the vehicle to avoid having a flat battery on your return. If the switch is on the headlight setting then they will go out with the ignition off when you lock the car, the sidelights (parking lights) will not. You can also inadvertently knock the indicator stalk while getting out which will turn on the parking lights on the side the stalk is moved to.
  30. Clumber Park earlier ...........
  31. In my opinion the crappest bit is that the bellows goes more or less straight across from door to A-pillar. On mk1 Fabia there's a significant vertical offset/dogleg to it, which means the loom is twisted more than it's bent as the door moves, causing much slower degradation.
  32. It's a crap design because it uses relatively rigid cables with very thin brittle insulation.
  33. I think you will find it is the lock microswitch. When I carry long loads and have to drive with the tailgate open the interior lights become a problem at night especially as I have fitted LED lights and added some LED string lights, the stock are feeble & would not cause me any problem. I disable them by making the vehicle think that the tailgate is closed by closing the lock hook plate.
  34. Probably. I'm sure someone will be along in a minute with all the data from the Skoda brochures regarding wheels and tyres. Plus all the web pages that let you compare wheel diameter, width, offset (ET), PCD, ad infinitum. (I just cant be arsed) The humongous VAG family of vehicles provides endless opportunities to swap parts.
  35. Hey, thank you so much for your response! I’m switching like for like! Surprised by the cost of a battery from Euro Car Parts… I’ve gone with Tayna an online supplier. Their prices are excellent. That’s smart, I didn’t know that about the radio. Thanks again! Conal
  36. Cheers I’ve got one in the post as we speak 😂
  37. Please only use English on Briskoda!
  38. I declared mine, just to be on the safe side. No changes to premium. But regardless I'd rather pay that little bit more than have my insurance marked null should my car get friendly with a field or whatever.
  39. I wouldn't write back to them about it, but I share your frustration at the hopeless standard of written English by institutions who really need to be able to state the facts of a matter precisely and unambiguously.
  40. I'm having the exact same issue with my MK IV Fabia. I actually don't think the button has ever worked for me since I've had the car? Just out of interest (this is something I'm going to play round with tomorrow), but when you unlock your car with the main unlock button, does it just unlock the drivers door? I know this is a security setting which can be changed on the infortainment display but I'm just wondering whether having this setting enabled is what's causing the tailgate button not to work?
  41. Challenge the NIP then and ask for furthe evidence and clarification.
  42. The Elephant in the room question which you steered clear of in your posting is "Are you saying that you did not exceed the authorised maximum speed during the section in question?" I do not understand your talk of the right and wrong photos, they are for identification purposes not evidencial, they are to jog your memory in case you were convinced you (or your car) were not there or in case your number plates have been cloned. You have recieved a Notice of Intended Prosecution, you are being invited to admit to the offence to avoid a court case and to accept a lower fine than the court would impose. If you did not exceed the limit then the NIP tells you what to do to challenge it, in my country you have to pay anyway and hope to win and get the extortion money refunded, if you dont the penalty imposed is much higher. I would speculate that the evidence presented in court would not be those photos, it may have no photographic element at all, it could just be a print-out of the times and locations the number plate was recorded and the calculated average speed, I see no legal reason why the photograph or photographs should have to be taken at the same locations unless you drive an Aston Martin DB5.
  43. @Taniv Maybe compare your cars fuel consumption from the E10 by using E5 for the next fill up. Maybe Sainbury 97 ron min or Tesco Momentum 99, 99 ron min.
  44. Just fitted facelift rear lights so now I’m in cool down mode for abit, just needs a service soonish
  45. Now i the right scenario for Scout :))
  46. Just to give other People with the same problem a solution: Enable the Engineering/Developer Menu via CarPort/VCDS or similar. Hold Menu button for about 30 Seconds to enter the Egnineering Menu. Choose SWDL/Software Download, Tick Manual Download and proceed as usual. You are now able to do the update.
  47. Hi, SportLine 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG 190KM 2018 replaced with Scout 2022 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG 200KM
  48. Because Skoda want to charge a small fortune for additional functionality, functionality which more often than not is a simple software tweak which can be done by someone who knows what they are doing eg a Skoda trained technician who may be interested in getting some extra cash on the side or someone who knows VCDS or OBD11 inside and out and can do the job without any issues rearing their ugly heads. OK, you can do it yourself and at your own risk, but it can backfire and you and you end up with a nasty large and unnecessary bill for a garage to put it right.
  49. Component protection is designed to prevent (deter) people from stealing head units. Each unit is coded to a particular vehicle and this message will come up if a head unit has been put in a different vehicle. However, some times, there are gremlins which cause these things to happen for no reason and they go as soon as they arrive. It must be similar to the occasions when CarPlay doesn’t function for no particular reason by does when you start the car again.
