  1. Stage 1 remap today at Avon Tuning. 272 to c. 350bhp. Picked it up 2 hours ago. Have only really had once chance to accelerate hard - yep, it’s certainly quicker!! More noticeable perhaps is the increased torque making picking up speed at lower speeds effortless and really smooth. More drivability is what I was after so, so far so good! I’ll add further thoughts when I have done more driving!
  2. Yep, been sitting a while. The wall at the side of it has kept the weather off the lower portions of the car. It's still really solid (a blessing for these old Fords) so that's a good start. It needs a fuel pump and front wings, which was the reason it wasn't MOT'd as the owners (who are known for shuffling through cars) bought a Volvo V70 to take over from it and just laid this up beside an Almera which needs a lot less work, but is about as interesting or exceptional as a beige electric blanket.
  3. What is the service manager got to say on the matter, why the hold up?
  4. Many thanks ApertureS, much appreciated. Yes it is one of the sensors on the black rear strip on the bumper, so 5Q0919275C.
  5. Just to round this thread off, the Kamiq went yesterday. I sold it to "Best Car Buyer" who beat offers from WBAC, Cazoo and my dealership by a large margin. It all went very smoothly and te driver took the car only when the cleared funds had appeared in my account. End of an era 🥲.
  6. New software revision.
  7. The mighty 1.8... The inside is a mix of dogs, a loft on a house, and a hamster cage. Will need the wet vac.
  8. Without anything to suggest otherwise, they appear to be dithering and dragging their feet. I think if it were me I'd be telling them as such, that the time it has taken so far to resolve two fairly routine issues is unacceptable, and you are of a mind to reject the car, as it's pointless having a car you can't use. Maybe have a chat with your local Trading Standards, to talk through your options. Gaz

Hey everybody, In the heat of the moment I'd completely forgotten to post an update here. After 548 days (~19 months) of waiting, I picked up my car on the 23rd of February! As unpleasant as the waiting was, I can't help but type this out with a big fat grin on my face. It was indeed worth it! I hope that you all get your cars ASAP!

Red light is low oil pressure. If you drove like that for a week I would imagine many parts of the engine are going to be deeply unhappy . Getting the car running again is a trade off…. You could easily spend £800 + fitting repairing your engine. You could also buy a second hand engine and have it go bang shortly after. I would get a price for a complete rebuild before you let anyone start on repairing bits. This will likely be cheaper than fixing it piece at a time, then the next piece etc. Only then with prices etc can you make your choice an informed one. Good luck and please use this as a prompt for the future as why you have warning lights.
  11. Least effort plan:- park it in the corner of garden and use as a greenhouse? 🙂
  12. Whoops, I bought a thing. Well... bought is a strong word, received is more likely. A free car is a free car. Wahey. Watch this space, it's typical Fordisms are present, but it's not overly rusty despite being in the state it would make you think it's in. Not going to get my hopes up too much, but it's got potential I hope, as possibly the earliest Mk1 Focus estate in the UK, and the only known 1998 one left that hasn't been scrapped. Ryan.
  13. Advertising this for sale on behalf of my mother; lovingly looked after from new by my late father. Very shiny and very yellow! FSH, 50,000 miles, garaged, always put away dry. There are tiny creases in the NSF and OSR wings and the door mirrors have some damage, but other than that it's practically in showroom condition. The interior is faultless. It's been stood for nearly a year but started first stroke of the engine after recharging the battery. We aim to have it MOTed before sale, but it's currently SORN. I'm in South Wales, but the car is just north of Nottingham. Really not sure what price to ask, so we're open to realistic offers. Car has now been MOTed and moved to Newport, 1 mile from M4. It drove the 180 miles without missing a beat, although I wouldn't trust the battery long-term after being unused for over a year. Dash display claimed 63mpg. As noted in my most recent post further down, after researching prices a bit more I'm hoping to raise in the order of £2000, but am open to realistic offers. More photos on request.

@asus ? Do you know what is involved? Have you got what you require to do it? Is the car near 80,000 miles, and are you considering doing the filter? Which there is even if VW do not show it requiring doing. EDIT. Last night in the Engine oil post you said the car has done 31,000 miles. *Skoda / VW have the Service interval / recommendation, guidelines, schedule @ 80,000 miles, i would have it done sooner, but by a VW Approved Repairer where they take the hit if they mess up the job. Quite likely they will if you use some of the Edinburgh Main Dealers. If you have a warranty now with the car you bought i would leave it well alone, and if you have no warranty i would buy one that covers the DQ381. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508177-remap-chiptuning-available-for-the-20tsi-vrs/page/4
  15. The 1.8 Zetec is a peach of an engine, the early ones which yours will be had a problem with a sticking oil pressure relief valve, easily changed for the later upgraded version, mine decided to displace the oil filter O ring and dump the contents of my sump on the start grid at Lydden Hill, I was black flagged before the start flag had even dropped It took a lot of cement and furious sweeping by marshals to put that right!
  16. I'd suggest that the reason COD/ACT should not be activated at idle speed is because the resulting engine vibration would be unacceptable - perhaps incorrect activation is exactly the cause of OPs complaint.
  17. Hmmmm, now lets see - for your penance, how about 1000 Hail Marys', 100 Our Fathers and a good donation for the Poor Box? Go and sin no more. 😆
  18. It does make quite a difference. At least yours looks clean. After a 100 mile round trip today to Burford & Swindon mine looks like it's just done the Paris to Dakar rally!! HS2 works all over the place & heaps of mud on the roads.

Thanks ... , I don't have a problem with throttle only bikes being legal as it is reasonably easy for a regular cyclist to pedal to that speed (15.5mph) anyway, even unassisted. Very easy with pedal assistance. I say F*** em anyway ......... ride what you like ......... BUT ride sensibly and with respect to others.
  21. @NatalieSearson Hi again. I'm thinking you should contact Perrys Barnsley, and inform them that if the faults are not rectified and the car returned within 7 days you will commence a legal rejection.
  22. whats it looking like on the inside/ under the bonnet? i feel like i can smell it from where im sitting

Abso-blooming-lutely, and I still don't completely understand it. I get the Grandfather rights bit. But then can I buy a pre 2016 bike, gradually replace everything and still have a grandfather rights e-bike? It seems there isn't a definitive answer to this question And the new (i.e. post 2016) Wisper e-bikes can be specced, bought and used with a full (15.5mph) throttle. How does that work then? I know David Miall knows his stuff and put a lot of work and effort into this, so I've no doubt about its legitimacy, and the DVSA approval : Gaz
  25. It's time to demand answers then. What warranty did you get when you were sold the car? 3 month's 6months 1 Yr? I agree the water pump should not be failing if it was indeed changed as the service history claims. Firstly I'd demand to speak to the service manager.
  26. Two weeks ago they said they needed to order the parts, gave me no ETA other than a week or two. Tomorrow will be week two. My argument is, as others have said water pumps aren't a rare part and surely it doesn't take two weeks to source one. I can get one online for next day delivery!
  27. I would cut out the middleman, Perrys Barnsley and talk directly to the local Perrys branch that has your motor. If you are a nice person, it could be time to get a little more forceful down the phone at this point, two weeks seems far too long. I doubt they are struggling to get the parts, but it could be the local Perrys doesn't have the knowledge to work on the car, or they have replaced the part and the error has not gone away, leading to headscratching. Sadly they are only my best guesses.

hello, just got word from the dealer, apparently the car is manufactured, awaiting shipment. Got the VIN and all. There has been no notification regarding any missing features/options Estimated delivery by end of the month (March) that would mean about 13-14 months from order confirmation to delivery Ordered 02/2022 OCTAVIA STYLE 2.0 TDI Diesel | 2.0 l | 110 KW | 150 HP | Manual | 4 Doors
  29. I bought a Hula girl many years ago for my dashboard but her ankles 😃 have developed a set and she cannot adapt to the angle of the Kamiq

  31. +1 i often drive in Manual mode, and i've never had to downshift into 1st. i'll drop down to 2nd, and when i'm almost at a standstill, the car will automatically drop it down to 1st, seamlessly.
  32. Thank you that is very helpful info, I will see if I can have a go over the weekend on locating and opening it. What Skoda are saying they will do is a wiring continuity test, which is effectively checking the wire for any breaks from the boot to the where ever it goes to draw the power from. It does sound expensive for what it is, but I guess because the wire runs through the body of the car it's probably more involved, then your standard continuity test I don't know. I am really not convinced it's a broken wire, but then again I can't say 100% it isn't it.
  33. OK my version of OBDEleven did find module A9. Put the volume down to about 50% and we'll see how it goes.

You've said that you ran it for a while showing an oil light. That warning light was telling you the engine's lubricant supply was riskily low, leading to times when there would be no lubricant available for the pump to circulate. That potentially affects every moving part in the engine, starting with the oil pump which relies on a good supply of oil to lubricate itself, then (depending on the oil routing in your motor) to the main bearing journals for the crankshaft, through the oilways in the crankshaft to the big end bearings and then draining down into the sump to be splashed up to the little ends on the gudgeon pins and to lubricate the cylinder walls so the pistons don't sieze. In parallel the oil should be forced at high pressure up to the camshaft to lubricate the camshaft journals, the cams, rockers and tappets, plus also (depending on whether you have a chain or belt drive to the camshaft) to the camchain, tensioner and idler wheel. The suggestion from your mechanic that the main bearings have gone puts the whole state of the motor in doubt and you would likely end up spending a lot of money getting the crankshaft reground and new main bearings only to find other parts of the motor were also terminally damaged. If it were my car I'd drop the motor and replace it with one from a recycler. Then, if I was bored enough, I would gradually strip and check the old motor on the bench to see just how far the damage had gotten. Either than or use it for a sea anchor. Just FYI there are several motors on offer on fleabay - here's one at 800 squid plus postage.
  35. First "proper" models for sale hit the road in August '98. The Focus estate was technically MY1999 but a few slipped through the net at the tail end of 1998, like this one. Escort hatchbacks kept until 2000, you could get an Escort estate until 2001/Y IIRC. Of the 350 (that I know of) 1998/1999 S-Plate Focuses, Focus, Focii whatever, only 83 survive. The amount of scrapped ones is scarily terrifying, but they're fond of the tin-worm so it's not really unexpected. This one is, as far as giving the sills a good checking over, fairly solid, so I'm grateful for that. However the front wings are returning to their natural state, but the metal behind is still good. In theory, it won't take much to put this one right, and have it hit the road for the first time since about 2020... but at the same time, in theory Communism works, in practice it has not, so far. Tempting, very tempting. Big windows in it as well. Although once whole it'll most likely become a dog wagon as Freddie struggles a bit with the lip on the Fabia, and can't even clear the boot of the Duster without having a run at it.
  36. Here it is in situ once I got a pic of it today.

At this point I feel sorry for the OP, ask a simple question and get different answers. Hopefully they found the sticker in the fuel flap or door frame by now.
  38. Quick update. Mine went in for second time to have software update to fix the POP POP SOS issue, infotainment rebooting/ stuck on loading etc. They told me that it would 'definitely' fix the issue this time. Had it back for 2 weeks now and went away driving 8hrs for holiday and not a single issue then or since. Software is 1896. Here's hoping. I also realised that the vibration noise was not coming from the dashboard or the binnacle area at all. It was coming from the steering wheel. Skoda obviously didn't really look into it when I originally took it in They have confirmed this now and as it's coming from the vicinity of the airbag module and this a possible safety issue they are going to replace the airbag and ensure everything is tight and secure under warranty. If that works then the car may finally be as it should be.
  39. Not sure if you know or perhaps driving a car not aware, but there are "Dial-a-bus" services you can call up for door-to-door services to get you out an about. https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/transport-roads/public-transport/derbyshire-connect-active-travel/derbyshire-connect-and-active-travel.aspx They can accomodate wheelchair if you use one, and you can get a free bus pass too, and in some cases a "companion plus" if you need assistance onto normal bus with a carer. Again if you haven't already, get Adult Social services to give you an assessment and you might qualify for some care hours for someone to get you out an about. Hope that helps you out somewhat 🤝
  40. Of course you're right. At a purely personal level, being more or less housebound, disabled and most importantly widowed it's sometimes difficult to appreciate that 😏. I would add that, thankfully I'm compos mentis and have a lifetime of happy memories to comfort me 🙂
  41. Lovely photo, Lee. I have a real soft spot for that shape Mondeo. I wanted one of those, but settled for the Focus since it was free. I mean, I'd still jump at the chance of one of those, but they're thin on the ground now, especially up here. They're on the "someday" list.
  42. The Octavia MK2 fits its 205/55R16 tyre size to a 6.5Jx16 ET50 5/112 57.1 rim.
  43. It looks like your car is a mk2 pre-facelift Octavia VRS, in which case you're looking for item 3 on HERE, but do check on the colour you need,
  44. Best of luck, I do hope the part fixes your problem.
  45. yeah, thats about the smell i was expecting... MOT expired 822 days ago
  46. Yes you can update to 0306 Taken from inside the update "Release": "MOI3_EU_SKMQB_P30603P" "MuVersion": "0306" <snip> "SupportedTrains": [ "*_?268*", "*_?270*", "*_?272*", "*_?274*", "*_?276*", "*_?278*", "*_?300*", "*_?302*", "*_?304*", "*_?306*" ],
  47. I shall try to help in a small way, please take a read here about anything to do with 1.5 EVO engine and being very careful with anything to do with the timing area, not saying you are in danger because you are touching this area, but you may upset a very accurately timed engine. It's a Karoq, but shares same engine across models Now onto the hopefully helpful part... Here is the exploded parts diagram. Here is the part in a nice image Here is the part in the workshop manual for a 1.5 EVO "DADA" engine code And the torque value is 140Nm from position 8
  48. Well all agreed I get my new car on Wednesday and Yeomans take over my old car when it’s been fixed. There’s an old saying “It doesn’t matter what the retail problem is, what matters is what the seller does to rectify the situation “ quite frankly I don’t think that they could have done more. **1* happens.
