  1. Hi all. Maybe this will give some of you guys some hope. I copied this message from German FB group from a respectable source. Translation might be a little bit off since this is FB automatic translation from German. Good evening friends of neat cars! 🙋🏻 ♂️ As promised, here's a summary of the newly published TPI for the NX update of the Infotainment (5F) on Firmware 1941. TPI Process Number: 2065556/9 Released: 06/16/2023 Valid only to vehicles carrying MIB3 (PR No. 8AR) Released for firmware stands: 1788, 1803, 1804, 1806, 1810, 1889, 1896, 1899, 1900 If I have understood it correctly, then vehicles that are being produced newly will get the 1940. from KW 25/2023 I don't know if there's a difference between 1940 and 1941 But probably it is only to distinguish whether this was already on from work or an update was made later. The following errors should be corrected: - Setting the ambient lighting impossible. - The Unexpected Happens At ACC Delay or Unintentional Acceleration - Driving profile selection cannot be changed. - AirCare cannot be activated - Wi-Fi without function - Ads in the "Car" menu are incorrect - Screen (ABT) of the 5F stays black - the ABT displays this: Component Protection Activated - RFK sometimes fails, is covered up by a pop-up, flackers or is delayed (everything sporadic) - Air conditioning menu is not displayed correctly - welcome screen cannot be disabled - sporadically the 5F starts and then again (reset - restart) - Sound settings of the 5F are not saved - Audio output via Bluetooth keeps interrupting - Duration of the title played is not represented correctly - sporadically, "clapping sounds" can be heard from the speakers, it will not play sound, over Bluetooth, the voice control is without function - Vehicle position is not displayed correctly (Navi) - navigation will not start - Preferred targets are not saved - Navigation will not be restarted automatically after the break - Navi card in 17 (VC) is not displayed correctly - creating a main user is impossible - Connect apps and software updates cannot be started These are also all the points you can call as a complaint at the 🙂 to get the update about the TPI. For all who are still under warranty, the update should be free. If you are outside the warranty, you have to ask for Kulanz and if necessary. pay for it yourself. Any questions that are not answered here, get in touch... Hoping that with the update there will be some "moving forward" I wish you all good luck at the 🙂!
  2. Another update after installing 1941: I did a 6-hour drive (515 km) without any single reboot. All systems are working as expected, I did not experience any other/new bug. As far as I’m concerned, this update did the trick.
  3. Just fitted mine today
  4. well street weekend was fun, after the car had been sitting for a few months thought id bring it back out again. managed 2nd in the overall diesel class with darkside taking 1,2,3. also managed a 0-60 in 5.18 seconds on melbourne's no prep surface

    It won't happen.

Thanks for help folks, all sorted broken number 4 fuse.
  8. Actually I'll add one little thing is case it is of use. Below the belt anchor is a set of wires from the seatbelt across to the wiring loom. I was given all sorts of apocalyptic advice about accidentally setting off the airbags. But thanks you common sense from Breezy_Pete I can now say - The black connector separates by pulling out the square bit at the side. I made sure key was out of ignition as a precaution. Then on turning on ignition all I got was a seatbelt warning icon for that position. Bob
  9. Ask @Rainesh or @varooom for the link.
  10. The 12 points Seat workaround above are with a valid VAG SD card ofcourse. They are not fussy whether it's VW, Skoda or Seat mib2 cards. You need that for the CID. So for a two card set up you need a second Vag card if the software isn't hacked to take any card using the toolbox mentioned. The Seat workaround you deploy if the map is later than the card (higher number). For those downgrading maps you wouldn't need to. Ie. If you had v11 card and a Seat you would need the workaround. V13 say you would not need it in that instance for V12 with the mods above.
  11. All parts collected today. Filled a V70! The MS502 fits perfectly and as far as I can tell from brief testing, works great. It's like the VW Gamma unit but with a slightly different design. Very good, and I've got the matching 6 CD changer for going under the seat. That includes the loom. As for rear electric windows, I have everything but the motor and the switchpack, as both had been removed from the car. Those doors you see there are from the donor car, which was a gold 51 plate Elegance with everything but heated seats (which was odd). Going to get a mate of a mate to spray the doors in Flamenco Red and just fit them quite the thing, as they're in much better condition (and less rusty) than my own ones. Win win. Test fitted one of the Elegance door cards today, from the driver side door. Looks decent, and the Elegance of a certain age is a better quality car overall. The one we picked from was rust free, with a really clean interior, I'd have taken the seats too if I didn't like my own Bohemia ones as much. The Elegance, it turns out, has soft touch plastics in the armrests and suchlike, which is miles nicer than that of the Classic and Comfort/Ambiente. The image below is of our "victim" of vulturing, a 51 plate Elegance in bronze/gold/brown whatever. A weird spec 1.4 16v model. Not too bad though. Also purchased a vRS steering wheel at the yard, it's in good enough nick and may get fitted later as I actually quite like the three spoke now. Other things have been bought, like paperwork to accompany the car, tax discs, boot badges, and some other wee odds and ends that will complete my own car. Recycling, or what?
  12. That is a good shout. 5GHz wifi is good for speed, but 2.4GHz works better through walls and over longer distances.
  13. As written earlier, from me or @Rainesh I have sent link by PM
  14. What you could also try is to push something soft (like a small soft piece of foam) on different points between the plastic trim and the dash. This way you add some additional tension between these two pieces which might stop or minimize the vibration.
  15. Fixed my missing TMC (traffic information) with a tweak. Hooray! And now it works in Scotland too.

‘Inexhaustible energy supply’ - perpetual motion? 🙄
  17. On a mk2 Fabia, wire or wires broken in door hinge area, almost 100% certainty.
  18. Yeah, at one point there was a whole wad of bronze/gold ones for sale but they've dried up. It was one of the funky colours Skoda did on the early ones, like the array of greens and suchlike! It's got rear discs as it's a 1.4 16v AUB thing. Quite a decent wee car. If I knew the engine worked... and we had a trailer. We'd have been off with that too.
  19. LEZ's etc are not a consideration, we avoid London like the plague (sorry Londoners! 😏). I'll pop into the 'cars for sale' section toot suite! Thanks 👍
  20. I'm currently testing and actually 3 days without rebooting but it's a temporary solution, isn't it? while waiting for a corrective OTA?
  21. Wasn't sure when I'd get another opportunity to find a Fabia like that, so took my chance and harvested all the good stuff. Thankfully the other Ryan is an automotive electrician, and wired his own rear electric windows in on his 07 plate "was once a 1.2 Bohemia" Golf PD150 engined estate. So I'm just going to do the easier job of the 6 disc changer while he swears at the car for a bit. The guy who painted his car is going to do the gold doors, making them flamenco red so my car doesn't look a bit daft. We hacked that Elegance apart for anything we even thought we may need. We should be prepared enough. Ryan's (not me, I don't speak about myself in the third person... usually) after a Mk1 saloon to PD, but wants a petrol manual base (so an AUB or equivalent)... this suits me fine for the masterplan (not to be confused with that one Oasis album). Already out in the car! Had one tape left lying in the little DIN drawer which is now in the machine. Got a box out with some cracking albums. Will take a photo later!
  22. As long as the Snap-On covers Fabia Mk3 specifically rather than just generically and is up to date it should give good error codes and diagnostics for your car I guess (don't know). The battery won't be causing your current issue just to check it doesn't cause any in future, for 'coding' the battery the type, Ah and serial number change (by one digit is fine) are the important elements, see here for more info. - VCDS How to adapt a new battery.pdf Sorry I can't remember the details of position P but @toot will know, might have been a Recall or fix kit, I forget. Have you done a multimeter or scanner diagnostics from battery through to starter motor connections but then there's loads of stuff that could potentially be in the physical systems and VW's complex computer programs that could prevent engine fire-up, even if you only have the one error code a full scanner read out report can be useful but you probably already have the two points to start from. Have you checked if there are any admitted Recalls for your car or more secret technical bulletins (TPIs? I forget the jargon/name), admitted Recalls from here. - https://www.skoda-auto.com/services/recall-campaigns
  23. I’ve experienced both types of reboots you described but the reboots after the start of the car were more pronounced. Sometimes, I even had 4 reboots in a row immediately after starting the engine which was super annoying. Since the update, this hasn’t happend. And yes, I drive 2023 Octavia.
  24. The bumper differentiations are in the plastics and lighting. The underlying metalwork is common to almost all mk2 Octys with only minor variations as per the parts catalogue. You can see the bumper plastics variants below. Note that there are minor variations by model year and PR codes so do check: 2011 Octavia mk2 1ZB standard front bumper 2011 Octavia mk2 1ZB RS front bumper 2011 Octavia mk2 1ZB Tour front bumper 2011 Octavia mk2 1ZB Scout front bumper
  25. Buy a genuine card off eBay or similar auction site, where they are available for around 1/10th of the cost of buying from Skoda.
  26. OTA according to him. And yes, I am aware about 1941, but until we have a confirmation that it solves the issue and it doesn't cause others, I won't be doing it. I should've stayed with 1886. It was completely stable for my build. My single problem was with sync of phone contacts then. It was completely minor.
  27. Hi toot. I'll reply later extensively as i can't at the moment. I just want to add a little more info now though. I travelled in the car not long ago, i kept under 2000rpm and the turbo confined to work. I got into 5th gear at about 33mph at one point so i stayed in low revs and the car jolted a couple of times and then the epc light came on again. Would that indicate that it happens when the turbo is having to work harder?

The orange are really just a bit too much for me. They certainly are noticeable from a long way off on a fine sunny day & even a low visibility one. I have had Orange Jimny,s and Land Rovers over the years but would not have a car in the colour as my driving habits need the cloak of invisibility. Lots of MG4 about as pretty cheap as far as Advance Payment from Motability, and i see a good few Taxi / Private Hire cars and Uber, and they are Black. (Only available cheaper than those below on Motability list is the MINI Electric, Zoe or Leaf.)
  29. Two cards. Putting the fix to one side the standard unit isn't fixed to the card except on Seat where it's fixed to the release of the card except you can use the "workaround" to sort that out. The work around is this: Steps: Download the latest standard MIB2 maps on the infotainment go to settings, safely remove, sd1 card remove sd1 card from glove box slot long press on the on / off to reboot it a couple of times insert sd card in to computer copy and paste all contents to a directory on your computer Format the SD card keep it as fat32 and leave format settings as default in file explorer (don't forget to push the card lock mechanism to off) (ditto in a MAC or delete all from the SD card) Copy the new downloaded map version to the SD card (after unzipping it) Replace /maps/EEC/EEC_WLD/OVERALL.NDS on the SD CARD with the one from the original SD card eject the sd card (on a MAC run CleanMyDrive on the SD card - then eject) Inserted the card into the card 1 slot in glove box whilst infotainment is off power on and go to navigation Yet to be tested by me is whether you can do the @pcbbc / @bigade1 fix the overall.nds fix.... I'm away, I'm sure you can. I envisage that if you want to use the latest maps use one card, if you want TMC but old maps, the other card. We use the car with the mib2 standard in it as a rural run around. Single track roads... queues don't get on it. If heading on busy roads you might swap cards. For rural Wales think TMC doesn't add much. Hit the M4, the valleys and England TMC would come in handy. Hence the option of two card working. Not ideal. Best solution is with mib2 high. You need to code this yourself or get someone else too. Offers above. Any self respecting IT guy should be able to do it on the mib2 high. The car runs a distributed control system which VCDS / Obdeleven Pro acts to program each component part. 1970s computer thing. Now they call it DCS... that's the only thing that was changed in 50 years 😂. I remember our computer science lecturer getting excited about it and that other fangled thing of meshed computers 🤔 (Arcnet to become internet).... Not forgetting microcomputers. Punched cards, line printers, Teletype 45s and paper tape. Well if you can do that you can program your car.... without the punch cards 😉.
  30. Completed one year of ownership of the Yeti 4x4 Elegance M/T. Loved every mile munched with it very much. In fact, it's a perfect companion in the form of an Octy 1.8 TSI AT.
  31. I just needs a good LSP next, so something like TW Hybrid Solutions Pro Flex Wax. Dead easy to apply and lasts for weeks.
  32. I know that. I'm talking about the multifunction display between the rev counter and speedometer where you can bring up oil temp, fuel consumption etc. You can bring up the speed as well.
  33. The Final Episode. Thank you all for suggestions. With the help of a mechanic friend we sheared the head of the bolt off. Leaving a 1cm stub sticking out. So off across the hills to a keen welder called Franky who welded a nut on and with lots of heaving got the bolt out. It had been cross threaded. Don't know how because it had never been touched before. He also retapped the hole. What a champ. I ordered the bolt online by part number but on arrival it still seemed too short. So I opted for a hex bolt that was still 7/16th at 20 tpi and was 50mm instead of 25. I thought I would have to trim it down. But it fits right in.
  34. As per the "MS402/502" wanted thread, I've got one... and rear electric windows, kinda. It's going to be a hell of a job, at least for the electric windows, but it'll pay off I'm sure. Going to grab the parts tomorrow amongst other things. Will update this thread accordingly.

Much of the UK housing stock is of an age where the motorcar was not a commonly owned item and in these high density areas, unlike the countryside areas or post 1950s housing design it is the car that has not been considered not specifically EVs. Some of us you may regard as wealthy are actually from poor backgrounds and remember being poor.
  36. You could use Allen bolts but the torque needed is going to strain a hex socket head a little. I used normal hexagonal head high tensile bolts, which worked fine. As a hand assembler you don't need the millisecond time gains from having a self-centreing machine driven bolt. Do use a good and unworn socket, though, as you may get slip and smear with a cheap or worn socket on a hex head at high torque values.

Have seen this previously in the yeti section, and it was the drivers leg whilst getting in or out was brushing against the light switch, turning it off.
  38. Strange, on both the Octavia 3s I've owned it shows tyre sizes as well as pressures?
  39. Thanks, i hadn't thought about the hand brake levers!
  40. @mac_fabia_vrs Did you solve the problem? Can you tell me what was wrong? I have the same problem.
  41. MIB Solution is horrifically slow, like dial up Internet days. You are better to wait for someone with the file to send you it. If not, use "Free Download Manager" to open multiple streams on their site.
  42. Probably a combination of factors, but I suspect the main issue is a lack of people willing to organise events, with the second issue being a lack of people willing to turn up to events. To address those issues, if people want meet-ups, I'd suggest they organise a day out for themselves that they personally would enjoy, and then publicise it. A lot of meets seem to, perhaps logically, be arranged to start off meeting in a car park of one sort or another. Hanging around car parks waiting for people who may or may not turn up isn't much fun IMO. (Mind you, thousands of teenagers in McDonald's car parks can't be wrong! 😄) But I think it's better to go somewhere you would want to go anyway. 1) Publicise it in advance. 2) Announce when you are there (post a pic or whatever on here). 3) Check the forum regularly to see if anyone else has turned up and posted their presence. 4) If they turn up, great, you can meet up and hang out. If they don't, well, you have yourself a day out somewhere you want to be. I think it's key to not be discouraged if nobody turns up, so making sure you can enjoy the day even if nobody else shows up is important, IMO. However, I dare say there are other factors in why interest in meet-ups is low.
  43. FOR THE LAST PART I went back to guy that does all the coding and installation. In cca. 2h I got back car with digital cockpit. Everything was and still is working without any problems.
  44. it maybe 4 months or so since I visited this forum (it’s a quit forum), so today is the first I knew about this recall check. I agree with toot that it’s pretty poor on Skoda that notices are not sent to registered owners via Swansea. 13 months ago I sold 2 Toyotas for a Fabia and a CitiGo. Toyota re really on the ball when it came to recall notifications. This recall notice says if the airbag activated metal pieces could fly around the cabin area causing serious injury or death. A very poor customer service from a Skoda and I am very disappointed. We like a Skoda cars but this has seriously affected my view of them. It may be a move back to Toyota for us. We had Toyotas for 7 years and always felt cared for.

Your profiles states you have a 2018 car - genuine highline cameras are pretty easy to find, just for example: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003578483619.html I actually grabbed a Tiguan version as it had a washer jet to keep the camera clean - I checked with the seller and they were happy to install the Octavia dataset/parameter file on it for me Few details on the installation: And the calibration:
  46. Just placed an order today for a new Kodiaq - expecting at least 16 weeks, but lets see. Current Kodiaq VRS is still nice so in no hurry, but with second hand values as good as they are, seemed silly not to cash in the residual and get a new car with a few more gadgets @Estiveira have ordered mine in the same colour.

Hello I've been driving through France and across the North of Spain for 45 years and seen a lot of changes most of all it has become much easier for the non-Spanish speaker and in experienced right hand side driver. My first suggestion is get a ferry to Bilbao or Santander and drive the A8 (Autovia) to Galicia (top left corner Spain). The A8 is a magnificent road sweeping over mountains and valleys, UK has nothing like it. Along the way there are beaches on the North and mountains and routes to central Spain to the South. If you don't want to do motorway all the way there is the old road and the old old road still in existence, usually to its North. There is a lot of Spanish tourism in the area and it has now for the past 10yrs been discovered by North Europeans so English is spoken in most places. If you want to head south, I recommend looking for the road (N640*) south west out of Barres to Lugo, on to Ourense and then on to north Portugal. That will be a 3 day drive if you are not trying to break records. That journey will take you through green sweeps of land, across lakes and rias. I recommend doing it in late spring when the heat isnt too bad, the roads are quiet and you will not have half of Madrid competing with you for camping space or hotel rooms. * - road numbers in Spain. They change without warning. You can be driving along a national road such as the N640 which might change to the LL-200 and back to N640. It takes too long to explain why.
