  2. After parking this afternoon the person who drove in behind me asked if the red car was mine. She said there's something hanging down. When I looked it was a panel roughly under the read left side footwell with one corner adrift. Oh drat (or words to that effect) why does this happen when I have a longish trip tomorrow? Anyway at about 16:00 phoned local Skoda dealer. Very polite but apologetic: "it needs to go on a ramp and we're booked up for the next 5 weeks!" Then drove to a local VW-Audi independent - Inde Tech - who said "give me the key and we'll have a look". 15 minutes later it was fixed with no charge - just a fastener had come adrift. I've used Inde Tech before and always thought their customer srvice was good. I'll be back.
  3. Hello, I already wanted to do the update myself but I called another dealer one more time and described the problems with restarts. He said to come right away and did an update. Everything is working fine so far.
  4. Here's 2065556/10. Changes from revision 9 in amber.
  5. Hi all, I've just installed the 1941 firmware by my dealer (from which I both the car) a couple of hours ago. The guy that picked up my car seems to be aware of this problem (nothing surprising for him), funny thing the MIB restarted(twice) in from his eyes when he was filling the service form. Even so, he asked me about some evidence(videos/pictures) for the SK to show them. 🙃 The whole process took 3h. No reboots in the short trip(~20km) back home, but tests and statistics are still on-going. I'll update this thread after more(short and long) trips. Hopefully we get to the bottom of this issue. Good luck all, to "fix" your cars.
  6. @AmberberryBe sure you do check that there is a record of the cam belt done, because the 1.4 TSI ACT is not difficult but need the gear and more than ideas. @silver1011 Just had one replaced. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/514272-kodiaq-20-dsg-4x4-diesel-2017 A Full Main Dealer Service History should be a Full History of the Servicing, but no way does that mean a Full Servicing History of Servicing done to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations or Specifications / Schedules even. If so the Brake Fluid would be changed in 2020 & 2022 & again in 2024. Spark plugs in 2021 or @ 40,000 miles. Cam Belt in 2022. Air Filter maybe not even looked at until 2023 but it should have been changed by now.
  7. Toyota ramping up their EV plan ..... 4 years later ..... 1 passenger vehicle with really bad efficiency and range, poor software. Good build quality though. "Look at solid state batteries, it's coming soon™. Let's keep waiting and buy our cars where 100% of its energy comes from fossil fuel"
  8. Happy Summer Solstice!
  9. Had high hopes for tonight, but arrived a little too late 😔

I finally received my VRS hybrid on Friday 16th June. Amazing car and really happy with it. Ordered in Septermber 2021 with various build dates getting knocked back. Was given a build date of August 23 before it moved forward to actually getting built in May 23. Things are moving, I'm glad I waited as got a fantastic car for a great price in today's economy.
  11. I am going to be writing a guide and uploading it to the forum on sunday about how to clean and repair the steering controls to fix this issue if you wanted to wait till then?
  12. If it helps any, my level sensor failed a couple of months back and it still passed the MOT with the lights in the 'safe' position. YMMV.

Bike fixed Wheel speed sensor on diagnostics was registering 92mph and then 4mph when doing neither. New sensor, diagnostics, chain, cassette, tyres, pads, brake service, rear wheel bearings and labour came to £335 all in. Picking it up in the morning 😎 Gaz EDIT: Just cycled it home and it feels fantastic 👍👍 I'm a very happy cycling bunny! The wheel speed sensor wiring is now external due to the amount of work needed to route it back through the frame, but that's fine. The bike mechanic says he's seen an increase in these type of failures (particularly Bosch), all of which seem linked to long-term use of speed dongles.
  14. Oh my! By the tone of Amber's posting I thought they were racing off to see it today. How embarrassing!
  15. Errrr..... Methinks a bit of patience might be the order of the day. Gaz
  16. Rear parking sensors is standard, automatic parking with 12 sensors (fromt, rear and sides) was an option on most models.
  17. Loving the sneaky VW 1889 version before it swaps to SK1896, then to your SK1941. Best of luck with the next few journeys.
  18. Unfortunately I don't have it 😞
  19. oh no 😞 sorry to hear this
  20. I am dog tired, but from memory 1896 onwards, the OTA updates were supposed to be rolled out... but this is VAG. There have been reports of user's getting OTA updates that actually increase the SW Level, probably released to a few test VIN's or a range of VIN's to see how a few test guinea pigs get on. Mobile phones update the same, they release it for a Country and await the feedback/monitor forums 😁

  22. No I didn't, I've only had this car since February. Quite a few updates but they've all been done in a short time and the last one screwed up my infotainment system.

I feel your pain buddy, it’s so frustrating isn’t it. Not sure if this is the address you’ve used already but I contacted Skoda customer services and basically went off on one about the complete lack of reliable information. Since then they’ve been able to tell me the build date, and I’ve stayed on their case weekly up to the point I’m at now where apparently the car is on its way. I’ve tried to post their E mail address in this post and it’s blanking it out so let me know if you want me to PM it to you?
  24. Hello everyone, new forum member here. My car's infotainment was also rebooting all the time since late april after update to 1896 on february 27th. Usually once or twice at the start of the ride but the most was 5 times in a row. I contacted a dealer yesterday and got the answer today that there was already released TPI 2065556/10. So 2065556/9 mentioned on previous page isn't even the latest one anymore. The /10 is also about update to SW1941 on the infotainment. Anyway got my car scheduled for update to SW1941 on July 5th.
  25. I can foresee what's going to happen. The car will do an automatic download and install it itself via the OTA system. 🙄 My car goes in on July 20th at 0800 - 1600
  26. Under “Select control module” press the “Select” button Press the button “5F Information Electr.” Press the button “Adaptation - 10” In the “search” box type “TMC” From the drop down select entry “IDE05111 fee based traffic information TMC” Enter the required new value, check the “reboot” checkbox at the bottom of the window, click save and confirm with OK.

  28. Visited my dealer today to say about the issue and gave them the firmware number and TPI number and they've confirmed that it is outstanding against my car and will be done FOC as it's under warranty, also a couple of other things need to be done, so I'll let them do it because if they screw it up they've got to sort it.
  29. +1 Are those 17" Stratos Alloys? Echo what those above have said. I'm of the opinion if a car looks to have been well looked after then it probably has. You have additional legal rights buying from a business but make sure there's a good 12mth warranty with the car - you may be able to negotiate something into the deal. Defo check the service history. A full Skoda service history can mean anything. Don't let it put you off if there's only 3 Skoda dealer visits as the car may have been on a variable servicing program. Checking the Gov MOT website, the car has passed every MOT first time which again points to a car that's been cared for. There were advisories on all the tyres in 2021. Only 1 different tyre advisory at next MOT which suggests all tyres had been replaced with one since suffering slight damage. Last MOT in Feb mentioned the same offside rear being near to legal limit so worth checking this has since been replaced. I'd expect there to be one or two near new tyres on the car. There's nothing I can see that points to there being an issue with this car so why not? 👍 Yes it's worth having the cars history checked but as you're buying from a dealer who says everything is OK, then legally you're covered from any nasty surprise. As I say, if it looks well cared for, it probably is.
  30. That sounds about right for work carried out by me. Know a guy with a Golf that does this too, when you put the key in to move the windows, the fronts go up, and the rear down, or vice-versa sometimes.
  31. Seems I have an Mib2 high (Colombus with SSD jukebox), but no OBDEleven or VCDS. I only have Car Scanner Pro. Without trawling through 26 pages, is there a way to modify my existing Satnav files to fix this bug (either editing 15 to 14 or 32783 to 32782), or do I have to find someone with the above scanners to do it for me? Mods - As there appears to be a workaround, a sticky with clear instructions would probably be a good idea. Cheers!
  32. I'd prefer smaller wheels (reason stated, and yes I have tried 17" cars), and wonder what a vendor who doesn't specify the wheel size is trying to hide.
  33. Can't remember if someone suggested it to me (likeliest), or I dreamt it up myself, but I'd been in denial about a headgasket problem on a Vauxhall Omega for some weeks at the time. Seeing a puddle of coolant sitting on cylinder 4's piston crown, and sampling it with a clean white bit of rag taped to a chopstick or similar was very clear-cut when that came out coolant-coloured.
  34. Real World now. Fat 'TOYOTA' EV.s. & Skoda.
  35. There was an event just the other weekend too. Events happen, but if the sort of event you want isn't happening, then it's up to you to make it happen.
  36. I hit a tree stump with mine about 20 years ago and stopped it dead. The result was a bent crank. Whacking it with a hammer straightened it a bit but its still going strong despite the vibrations... I've just got some foam pipe lagging on the handles to save my hands a bit.
  37. Hi @steelyboy Thanks for that, it helped me determine that I think all 6 wire connectors have heated mirrors, non power folding mirrors and electric so managed to pick one up at a scrap yard for a pretty good price. Have a good one! S
  38. On the Octavia MK3, a 205/55R16 fitted to a 6.5Jx16 ET46 5/112 57.1 steel rim could be used as a spare. If it's a VRS with 340x30mm front brake discs, the 16" spare wheel could only be fitted to the rear. Another option is 125/70R18 fitted to a 3.5Jx18 ET25.5 5/112 57.1 steel space saver rim. However, as there is enough room in the space wheel well for at least a fully inflated 205/55R16 it seems a bit pointless using a 125/70R18 space saver. The space saver may be thin, but it's very heavy. Being able to inflate the space saver up to 4.2 Bar (60psi) requires a heavy duty construction of the tyre and rim...hence you are unlikely to save much weight by going down the space saver route. As you can see in the chart below, the outside diameter of all these tyre sizes are very close. There's less than 1.3% difference between any of them. Outside diameter of tyres 125/70R18 632.2mm 195/65R15 634.5mm 205/55R16 631.9mm 205/50R17 636.8mm 225/45R17 634.3mm 225/40R18 637.2mm 225/35R19 640.1mm If you want a cheap 17" steel rim to use as a spare, you could use a 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Kodiaq) fitted with a 205/50R17 tyre. Alcar 8247 6Jx16 ET48 5/112 57.1 steel rim (Octavia MK3 winter tyre size) https://www.oponeo.pl/felga-stalowa/alcar-kfz-8247#22880278 Alcar 8667 6.5Jx16 ET46 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Octavia MK3) https://www.oponeo.pl/felga-stalowa/alcar-kfz-8667/23124463 Alcar 9021 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Kodiaq) https://www.oponeo.pl/felga-stalowa/alcar-kfz-9021#22767779 Octavia MK3 VRS foam and jack kit 5E0093860C (you should be able to order this from a Skoda parts department using the OEM part number 5E0093860C for about £50, so you just need to add the spare wheel) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/sada-pro-vymenu-rezervniho-kola/p/5E0093860C Octavia MK3 non-VRS foam and jack kit 5E0093860E (you should be able to order this from a Skoda parts department using the OEM part number 5E0093860E for about £50, so you just need to add the spare wheel) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/sada-pro-rezervni-kolo/p/5E0093860E
  39. LEZ's etc are not a consideration, we avoid London like the plague (sorry Londoners! 😏). I'll pop into the 'cars for sale' section toot suite! Thanks 👍
  40. All Superb MK3 cars can use 16" wheels, except the 272HP/280HP 4x4 models which need 17" wheels to clear the front brake calipers on the 340x30mm front brakes discs. So if you don't need 17" wheels, you can use a 215/60R16 tyre fitted to a 6Jx16 ET43 rim (from the Karoq). This will fit flush in the spare wheel well. Surprisingly, a 215/60R16 tyre fitted to a 6.5Jx16 ET41 rim (from the Superb MK3) won't fit flush in the spare wheel well. Hence, the benefit of using a narrower 6J rim from the Karoq. As you can see in the chart below, 215/60R16 fitted to a 6J rim has an actual inflated width of 215mm. On the Superb MK3, that's the limit for the spare wheel fitting flush in the spare wheel well. Actual width of inflated tyres 215/60R16 fitted to 6J rim = 215mm 215/60R16 fitted to 6.5J rim = 221mm The 16" spare wheel would also work on the Superb MK3 272HP/280HP 4x4 models, but you could only use it as a rear wheel. However, many people who use a space saver prefer to use it only on the rear. 41. All parts collected today. Filled a V70! The MS502 fits perfectly and as far as I can tell from brief testing, works great. It's like the VW Gamma unit but with a slightly different design. Very good, and I've got the matching 6 CD changer for going under the seat. That includes the loom. As for rear electric windows, I have everything but the motor and the switchpack, as both had been removed from the car. Those doors you see there are from the donor car, which was a gold 51 plate Elegance with everything but heated seats (which was odd). Going to get a mate of a mate to spray the doors in Flamenco Red and just fit them quite the thing, as they're in much better condition (and less rusty) than my own ones. Win win. Test fitted one of the Elegance door cards today, from the driver side door. Looks decent, and the Elegance of a certain age is a better quality car overall. The one we picked from was rust free, with a really clean interior, I'd have taken the seats too if I didn't like my own Bohemia ones as much. The Elegance, it turns out, has soft touch plastics in the armrests and suchlike, which is miles nicer than that of the Classic and Comfort/Ambiente. The image below is of our "victim" of vulturing, a 51 plate Elegance in bronze/gold/brown whatever. A weird spec 1.4 16v model. Not too bad though. Also purchased a vRS steering wheel at the yard, it's in good enough nick and may get fitted later as I actually quite like the three spoke now. Other things have been bought, like paperwork to accompany the car, tax discs, boot badges, and some other wee odds and ends that will complete my own car. Recycling, or what?
  42. @Skodias ? Is the sticker in the spare tyre well showing the service campaign done, '34F7' and the date and dealer stamp? Do you have the car Service & Warranty history for the cars early years. Then anything could have been done since. The car might not have the original engine or DSG or MCU / TCU. Skoda had to replace MCU,s and with some cars had to provide new ECU,s That was when they were doing ones under warranty & they had Dealership Techs fitting the new MCU and not knowing what they were doing. From the 2010 Mk2 Fabia vRS in 2010 there were locked ECU,s and unlocked ECU and 3 different Softwares / managements while the CAVE engine was used.
  43. With hardware you can clone the mechatronics they sell all the required hardware on AliExpress etc
  44. My current “project” car is a cat N Superb because of the damage in the pictures. A full set of secondhand rear lights is £100, rear bumper £100, possibly less if I shop around, to fix the two small dents, paint the boot lid and bumper £300, total £500 to repair. The pre accident value of the car would have been about £2.5k, I paid £800 for the salvage. There are huge savings to be made against computerised bodyshop quoting systems.
  45. Hi, welcome to the forum. Halfords are wrong, your new battery will definitely need coding because of the different capacity and the change to AGM. I have seen references that Halfords claim to possess the capacity to do the required battery adaptation - although I'm not sure I'd trust them to do this correctly now.
  46. I did a customers 87 Audi Coupe GT with £2k worth of Dynamatt and liner, the car was 20-mm lower after...😁
  47. "Surely with that set up you get rubbish MPG" You'll be surprised when it's not on boost all the time. In other, once I've got the body work/rusty bits sorted... Time will tell.
  48. Track day successful. Didn't blow up or slide off. But got black flagged on the first outing for being too loud.
