  1. Got a Superb a few weeks back! Previously owned Octavia 4x4 Estate, then Octavia Scout over two generations. Spent time away from Skoda in Audi TT Quattro (didn't need the space) but now with a young child enjoying the space and comfort of the Superb.
  2. So... What's next? The RacingLine catalogue of intake goodies: - RacingLine R600 foam intake - RacingLine Silicone hose - RacingLine Turbo inlet Elbow - RacingLine Turbo Muffler delete IMG_6702.HEIC Installation was quite doable for someone who works on a computer behind a desk, with only a little bit of wrenching experience. Installing the turbo muffler delete was a pain in the ass, but mostly because of the available space in the and not wanting to remove the battery didn't help in that matter... But other than that, quite a doable mod on your driveway. After the intake, it was off to the tuner to free some of that 2.0tsi horsies that were just waiting to be set loose! After some research I settled on Tuning Service Huizen. These guys are specialized in VAG and BMW, even though they also tune other brands. Before making an appointment I went by to have a chat with them on how they work and tune. Their approach and way of working ("I don't like talking in stages, even though I have to put stages and figures on my website to sell, I just look at what a car can comfortably make. I much rather have a car that does 300hp with good reliability and more important drivability, then have 322hp and put everything on the edge of what's possible") as well as some of their comments (make sure you have new spark plugs installed before coming over, so that there won't be any issues in that department) made me choose them for the tuning of the car. The car started off as a very "happy" car, as the guys at Tuning Service told me. Not only produced the car much more hp and Nm than stock (nearly 296hp and 370nm, a common thing with detuned 2.0tsis but also the RacingLine intake was credited), all the logs showed it was just a very happy and eager engine. Good stuff! After some 0s and 1s, a few runs and bit more fiddling, a very surprising result came out of it: 381,6hp and 473,2Nm! (engine power) And that with a (for the Netherlands) higher ambient temperature (nearly 24 C), so in fall/winter it will even be a bit more. Especially the mountain-range of torque available already at 2750rpm and the high max power really pleased the guys as Tuning Service as well as myself of course. 71041643783__527E68B6-0691-46FF-8D46-E3443B36FCBA.heic The result is a rocketship on wheels, it's just phenomenal! I can't wait for the first time I'm lined up at a traffic light next to a GTI, R or S3, and I'll maybe even try the odd S4, 340i or C43 to play with! Especially the Superb still looking like the umpteenth 1500cc, zero to 60 in minutes, daddy needs space, company car and not showing its performance potential really excites me. Last weekend I spent a weekend in Germany (hello unrestricted Autobahns!) and let the Superb loose for a bit, unfortunately did not have the chance for a full top-speed run (traffic and sometime quite strong cross-winds), but having to let off at 276kph indicated (265 gps) is still mightily impressive. With how fast it was still accelerating, I would say it should do 290kph indicated at least! And seeing a pushy Mercedes S500 disappear in the rear view mirror of your Skoda Superb is just priceless...😂 For now (at least) that's where the modding ends. I have some things planned still, both in the performance department as well as the practical department, so will keep you all posted!
  3. Otherwise, small satisfaction of last week-end: nice detailing of the cabin of Moby **** (that's the little nick name of my car, since it looks like the big whit whale 😁). Quite happy to see my Superb sooo clean! BTW, it gave me the opportunity to compare "Sprayabale Leather conditioner and cleaner" from Chemical guys (which I used on my wife's Q3 a week before) and "Gold Class" from Meguiars' which I used for my Superb. Finally, I think I prefer Meguiars' regarding the final aspect, since it almost doesn't modify the appearance. Leathers remain quite mat, as if they were coming straight from the assembly line. Considering now the nourishing and protection effects, errr... I would be very annoyed to try telling which is the more efficient. Some pics of the cleaning : After cleaning with only soapy water : A nice mat aspect, close to its appearance when coming out from assembly line the steering wheel is a bit too shiny though. I had a better result on my wife's Q3 a week ago... After applying Meguiars' Gold class: Moby **** still looks good though 97500km and almost 6 years on the clock.
  4. Why would you change the water pump when doing a cambelt change on a 1.4TSI? AFAIK from having owned an Octavia with a 1.4TSI CHPA engine the water pump is on the opposite end of the engine on the EA211, and is not known to be a problem...
  5. Hi! I've been secretly and silently reading many of the posts on the Forum up until now, but figured it was time to set a post myself as well! Here to introduce my/our Superb Wagon 4x4 2.0tsi 272: IMG_6594.HEIC How it started... A 2019 4x4 2.0tsi Sportline wagon with 272 ponies from the factory. Initially I was looking for a Golf R variant Mk7.5 to replace our Focus ST wagon, but then I found out about the Superb 4x4 2.0tsi. With the Golf R offering the same space as the Focus, just with more power and AWD instead of FWD, I was initially drawn to the Superb due to its spaciousness, as well as its sleeper look. Because I soon found out what the potential of this car was (mostly because of some awesome builds I found on this Forum), this was going to have to be our next car. Unfortunately, living in the Netherlands, this car was never officially sold in the country. Or just a handful maximum. Luckily we have Germany as our eastern friends, where these cars were sold a bit more. Made the list of requirements, basically a Sportline with every option 😅, and started the search. Due to my desire of the car having a virtual cockpit, but the facelift being just out of budget (and to be honest I like the "sharper" lines of the pre-facelift better, as well as not having 'S K O D A' across the boot), it would have to be a 272hp/200kw version. As well as a 272 coming the slightly upgraded engine and the DQ381, made the 272 the winner! After the importing process was taken care of the modding could begin - first stop: Cobra Suspension to get lowering springs made for the car. With the car having DCC, I wanted to try springs and check the ride quality and handling, before selling a kidney to go for a KW or Bilstein DCC set. The results have very much surprised me in the positive sense of the word. Not only have the looks massively improved (see below), but also the handling really changed, for the better. Especially the nose diving under braking, and nose-lifting under acceleration improved! IMG_6599.HEIC Lowering was not enough for the handling, so I ordered some Powerflex goodies (front wishbone bushings, front and back, and motor-mount insert), H&R anti-roll bars front and back (with some new OEM end-links). Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks one of the brand spanking new OEM end-links decided it was not up to the task and broke in half, so I swapped them for RacingLine billet adjustable end-links. Thank goodness, I was worried my Lamborghini might have been damaged. Don't care so much if the Bentley is a gonner though.
  7. I also get these messages but just ignore them. I seem to remember when I first got my car that there was a setting in the profile screen that let you use the S-PIN to lock your profile, but that you then had to enter the S-PIN every time you started the car. (But it was over two years ago so I might be misremembering this.) Anyway I decided it was too much of a faff as I'm the only driver so I just left it displaying its warning message instead. Chris
  8. Seems like you had lots of fun. I will be on the autobahn in a few days time with my stock 280 6speed. It won't do 276kph but it's a chance for me to explore whatever upper range there is.
  9. Yee Ha! Just want to post that this fix (change the Fee Based Traffic Information adaptation from 15 to 14) has worked for me, traffic back on. Many thanks to all that research it and to lupoluke for doing the coding for me
  10. Agree with Dave, it's the TDI that requires water pump replacement with the timing belt change.

On the production lines I've visited, the entire dashboard including the HVAC, steering wheel and column is delivered and installed as a single module.
  12. Why I asked about the release bearing...

I fitted B6 a couple of years ago on my 2.0 TDI Combi and I noticed exactly what I wanted: More body control on high speeds but no harshness at all. I was very surprised with that, as I have a Mini R53 fitted with Eibach + Bilstein B8 and it is very fun, but very rigid and harsh, too much for a daily use. It's my weekend toy so this is not a problem. The B6 in the Skoda were, to my surprise, even too soft. I mean my wife didn't even notice something had been changed on the car.
  14. The infotainment system may be crap but I can't fault the engine! Disappointed my mpg dropped below 56 due to rubbish commute home this evening.

I've posted a couple of links here
  16. @Bobodaclown it has been fun so far indeed! And looking forward to having some more fun with the modding!
  17. Bought these for mine. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254908894463 Fit very well, and look very much OE.
  18. Thank you for all your comments and suggestions My offending bits of trim were still surviving , just. I decided to opt for the 3M tape solution. I looked behind one of the offending trims and saw a huge buildup of various road dirt so thought that the HB42 glue might not stick too well to what was a dirty door. I took the trims off which came off remarkably easily and cleaned them up. I cleaned the remaining tape of the door with a wooden scrapers made from icecream lolly sticks suitably sharpened. Then I cleaned the residue off both doors and trims with a toothbrush and methylated spirits.... it took a while. When cleaned and prepared I stuck the trims on with the 3M tape and it seems to have done a good job. Only time will tell. the whole job took me about 3 hours with most of that being the cleaning of the old tape off the doors. Thank you all for your suggestions. Thank you Oldstan for keeping me fresh in your thoughts
  19. @Fr13ndlyGhost looks like you have been having fun, building a monster of a sleeper. @KeteCantek snap in a couple of weeks doing the same, not sure how much I can push it as will have the wife and two kids with me.
  20. Thanks for posting @Andy585 LOL !!! plug & play it's written. Besides the fact that you have to remove the Vehicle Voltage control unit from its location to play with connectors, in the control unit you have 3 connectors: 2 73 pins connectors (T73a + T73b) and 1 46 pins connector (T73c). Either you have full detail on wiring in the installation manual or ... good luck! because without that information I would not be able to install it.
  21. @TechguyBooked into dealer next Friday for the day. Will let you know what happens. They have logged into the back end with my credentials and see the car needs to finish activation after the new account ctreation, but I don't have the activation screen appear in the car (only the S-PIN request that fails each time). So I guess they will wipe its brains and see if that works and gets it talking to Skoda servers again.
  22. No warning at all, I knew it was empty as only foam was barely coming out. You’re correct with not know what comes in a used car, but I bought it used approved from Chesterfield Skoda, I would assume they top up the correct fluid before it leaving. will have to wait and see if the Halfords pre-mix works out, nearly 5 litres went in 😅
  23. @Gerrycan in my 1.5 manual, 70mph is at ~2350rpm (60mph is dead on 2000rpm, so 30mph per 1000rpm) in 6th gear. Compared to my previous car, a 1.4tsi (125ps) Superb Mk2 hatch (manual), the 1.5 Octavia is notably less flexible/tractable at low rpm requiring 2nd for some roundabouts whereas 3rd was fine in the Superb; over 56k miles the Superb averaged 48.9mpg - I was expecting similar from my higher powered (150ps) 1.5tsi but its returning about 15% improvement. The cylinder deactivation in the 1.5 must contribute something towards that improvement but how much I wouldn't have a clue! I have seen the deactivation cut in at 1300rpm pottering around town in Normal Mode, not aware of it being more active in Eco though logically it would be - I'm now intrigued so will have to check it out.
  24. There are various reasons, miss fuelling with petrol, injector failure, remapping, EGR delete, adblue problems and... they just do. We had a none AdBlue Scirocco come in which would hardly drive, the DOC/DPF was melted and the NOX cat underneath cracked, the cause was the Air Mass Meter.
  25. I seriously doubt whether that will be enough to get Skoda UK or the dealer to agree that they should fund the repair, they will be looking for "proof" not "balance of probabilities" I believe.
  26. My July 22 vrs has it
  27. Issue could be in the washer fluid you are using. Some of the fluids are not conductive enough so the sensor doesn't know when the fluid is low. This was the case with my car. Try to put in a liter or two of tap water then run it all through. If you get the warning sign, then the issue is in the liquid. If not, then the sensor might be defective.

Thank you for the feedback and advice, it is appreciated. Always great to hear people's thoughts and experiences. Been pretty busy and haven't had a chance to make a decision just yet. Getting a few other bits sorted on the car first, more just general servicing - engine oil, DSG, Haldex, diffs, brakes(pads, discs, hoses), filters etc. Then will decide on the suspension(it is probably in my head but feels more wallowey everytime I drive it), I am more on the side of getting the Bilstein B12 kit now. And get the ARB I have fitted at the same time.
  29. I don’t im afraid, you need to take facia of stereo off then you normally need some release keys to pull stereo out, disconnect stereo then the cage for stereo should pull out with the black surround, then with it all out the way you can normally get a hand in to feel the cables
  30. Hi. I've just found an article published by Skoda in June 2020 that explains how my car is connecting. Apparently my car has the mib3 version of Columbus. It has an e-sim and is always connected to the internet and the is data provided by Skoda. The Skoda connect is an app you can set up to enable you to personalise your infotainment information. My car also has wireless smartlink. I have tested it and I can link my android phone wirelessly to the infotainment system and work my apps without using a cable. The cable is just for charging. So unless I want the extra info provided by Skoda connect, by paying an annual subscription to Skoda connect, I still have internet connectivity and a wireless link to my phone. It's took me ages to find this information. The link to the article is below. https://www.skoda.co.uk/news/details/karoq-kodiaq-and-superb-new-generation-skoda-infotainment
  31. My Yeti came with GY EG tyres I can't wait to be shot of them and get some decent rubber but I'm too tight to just bin them before they are worn.
  32. @wyx087 over the 3 years the car had plenty of circumstances of hot batteries and journeys straight from a charger and all weathers to perform efficiently and also tyres and tyre pressures. It just so happens to be better now than when knew after about the 4th software update. They seem to have got something right. Also one issue though. Car not communicating with my phone properly and seems to have decided my passwords are invalid. That will be a 3 years since setting it up thing. I am moving house so no point with an installation now even. If free and really a 3 pin charger is all I need. PS. Came up this morning showing as it had a Software De-bugging over night. Felt like a bucket of poo today & was back to pre Service and Recall update. Good riddance to it on Monday. PPS. Stuck with the Corsa for another fortnight. New car getting first registered today though. SR23 FTT ................ This one outside with bird poo is a Level 2 but the same exterior. The option of the Black waste trim instead of chrome is £450. They seem to spec all their cars for stock with that but i have not seen other dealers doing the same. Appears there is a shortage of Level 3 cars available so it is just as well i changed from the Black factory order.
  33. Welcome to Briskoda. Unfortunately, trying to guess what the fault is without information isn’t helpful to you. You need to get the car scanned with VCDS or similar and then post any fault codes that this reveals.
  34. Also a 1.5 manual - I recently did a trip from the NorthEast to SouthWest Wales. When I got to the M6 I was averaging 64mpg (150 miles). Unfortunately the welsh roads did for me and it was down to 60mpg by the time I finished. However it only used less than 1/2 a tank - so I did the outward and return trip on one tankful. Now if I had been foolish enough to get a battery car, how many stops would I need? how long would I have to sit and wait in total in order that I could complete the journey?
  35. For a while now Skoda have been threatening to remove all towing weights from the VIN plates on vehicles that are not factory ordered with either the towbar preparation option or the full factory towbar, but as yet I don’t believe anyone with a Kodiaq has seen this. Assuming there are towing weights on the VIN then you’re perfectly fine to fit an aftermarket towbar or retrofit the factory towbar. If specifying the factory towbar, then Skoda fit a slightly different grill (larger openings) and a different cooling fan. It’s belt and braces, unless you’re towing right at the top end of the permissible weights up a continued steep incline in high ambient temperatures you’ll be fine. Unless Skoda can attribute any failures directly to the non-standard towbar then you shouldn’t have any warranty issues either. Just be sure to choose your fitter carefully and ask plenty of questions on how key features are integrated via the dedicated electrics they fit (changes to the stability control, deactivation of blind assist, rear fog light and rear parking sensors, additional functionality of the navigation, activation of the alarm if the lighting socket is removed, additional reverse camera views etc.)
  36. Because present batteries will not be at 100% ( by design ) and if the customer could see this they would get worried that the battery ( even when new ) is faulty. Thanks. AG Falco

Yes wheels have to be removed, at least the first time just to be able to locate all the hidden fasteners, I have loosened them and pulled them back to access other things without removing the wheel, they might just come out with the wheel in place once you know where the fasteners are and they have already been undone once.
  38. 1 point
I must have misunderstood the above and still do.
  39. Indeed, but if it's rated as zero towing capacity it will most definately be illegal to tow with it. EVER. If it's rated to tow get a towbar fitted but not by the dealer as they'll just farm the job out. I've had towbars fitted to 2 Kodiaq, neither had prep, neither had any problems.
  40. You might get a better response on a VW related site, such as Clubpolo: https://www.clubpolo.co.uk Gaz
  41. I’ve just done that too - the instructions from ŠKODA are suitably vague and there’s no feedback from the car until the version number changes. The instructions say that the ignition has to be on for it to update - but I went from 19.7 to 22.12 with maybe 10 minutes of ignition time. So I doubt those instructions. At no point did it acknowledge it had new maps to copy from USB or that it had completed. SMH.
  42. Has the clutch release bearing been changed?
  43. Wow. Yes, filed away. Glad I scanned it too!
  44. Well, it's settled. Bought an Octavia VRS Estate 6 speed DSG Quite happy with it so far. Have some plans, but none of them mean tuning the engine. As for the Darkside Octi, as mentioned before, it will be stripped.

  46. The Peoples Republic of China is being quite imperialistic in the South China Sea and economically around the globe and its treatment of Uyghurs is terrible but much worse than Britain (or France) in its history ? UK's treatment of the Irish, Slaves, mass exploitation of wealth and cultural artifacts from about a third of the world is well documented. The US president currently clearly distrusts the UK but loves the Irish based on his own heritage, as do tens of millions of other US citizens. Events of the past have bearing on the present. The major European powers should be very aware of history. The Opium war, the Arrow war where the British and French killed tens of thousands of Chinese, grabbed land, got Hong Kong out of one "treaty". From my studies in Asian politic and economics the Chinese education system go through this period and call it the "Century of Humiliation", but covers mid 19th century to mid 20th century, so pretty recent history and only beginning to be rectified with the arrival of the Communist party and its laser focus on making China not suffer at the hand of Western Imperialist again. What goes around comes around.
  47. @Gabbo This link has all the wheels with photos, it is 2022 version, but I have never found a 2023 version. https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b Personally I think the black wheels look better than the silver colours when you have smaller wheels and bigger winter tyres.

When my SAs die I'll be swapping out for B6 so maybe I'll be the first on this platform to try both. The issue I have with SAs is the inconsistency. They feel good when cruising. But then when below 50mph they might feel great and supportive or they go soft and wallowy. There's no telling which way they go. The firmer B6 is far more reliable in use. Not had any mechanical issues yet and that's with lowering springs and a stiffer rear bar.

absolutely not, Bilstein B6 DampTronic(DCC) are perfect had them on my previous MY16 220ps -> https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/485647-bilstein-b6-dcc-shock-absorbers-available-at-last/?do=findComment&comment=5697693 and now, day by day, have been annoyed by stock DCC's softness on my MY23 280ps where only 'Sport' mode can be more or less accepted the degree of desperation level can be characterized by my attempt to order APR Suspension Control Unit
