  1. The 245 engine doesn't have a cambelt, it's a chain.
  2. ...check your windscreen. I upgraded from a 110 S to an L&K back in January. I wanted lower mileage and a few extras. I knew in advance about potential leaking roof issues but was up for a challenge and the model I bought was absolutely mint condition with only 35k on the clock. Anyway my arrogance taught me a lesson pretty quickly, not long after buying it, when parked flat or facing downhill water would build in the footwells, it would come under the plastic by the door openings and on to the carpet, classic symptom of a leaking roof (as the drainage runs down the A-pillars). When parking facing up hill the light cluster above the rear view mirror would fill with water, I would then find the cubby under the radio in front of the gear stick full of water after it rained. I then spent the last few months trying everything. It went to my local garage to be checked, they couldn't find the source of the leak. It went to Skoda, they said the pano roof frame was probably warped (which seems to be something they say a lot) and wanted £1200 to try to repair it which I refused as couldn't afford it. I dropped the roof lining and cleaned the drainage tubes, I followed the popular YouTube guide which involved treating the seals and running small amounts of Captain Tolleys down the frame. I hired a smoke machine to try and find where it was coming from with no luck. No matter what I did, if water got on the roof it ended up coming in. If I washed it or it rained I'd end up with wet carpets that took forever to dry. I was feeling pretty fed up and then by total chance I noticed something. I was cleaning the inside of the windscreen and noticed that when putting pressure near the top there was flex...surely it couldn't be? So I spent £180 for a company to come and try and remove and reseal the windscreen, they confirmed straight away that the bonding had gone. Unfortunately upon removal the screen cracked and I had to cough up £450 for a replacement. When it was off (I wish I'd taken photos) I could see right away that this might be the issue. You can actually see straight into the roof lining and into the A-pillars when the screen is removed. They told me that it's a common problem on pano roof Skoda's Audi's and VW's because the glass fitted from the factory has the black surface around the edge embedded in the middle layer of the glass. Whereas on other makes it's on the outside layer. This means that there is no key for the adhesive to grab onto, because there's more flex in the frame of a pano car, the windscreen slowly unseals itself. So the windscreen they put in (which still had the heating elements) was an aftermarket with the black surface on the outside which they keyed before bonding. I'm pleased to say that my L&K is now totally watertight. I can throw buckets of water on it and I've had it in a jet wash and it's totally dry. What had been happening is that water had been accumulating along the top seal of the windscreen, building up behind and then running straight down the A-pillars. Or if the car was parked facing up hill then it just immediately went into the roof lining and through the light cluster. Anyway, that's my story and it's worth checking if you're having this issue. A leaking windscreen has the exact same symptoms as a leaking roof, it comes in the exact same places...so definitely check it. Might save you a lot of grief.
  3. Now invested in rewind tool that pushes as well as winds.... I'm glad to say that did the job !🙂
  4. if you're counting on the Winter Fuel Payment to pay to charge your £40k + new vehicle maybe you should sell the car and get something cheaper and more affordable to run, Like an older Skoda Superb with a good old ICE
  5. Which is what @Winston_Woof has already said, but for long haul flights to expect electric aircraft of the passenger capacity needed by commercial airlines in the short term is unrealistic, certainly not going to happen by 2030.
  6. A few from last night - lovely to see the changing colours as the sun set....
  7. It's true, I am deserting the Suberb fold and joining the Octavia owners. We test drove the Octavia and was I very pleasantly surprised. Whist it is smaller on the road it didn't feel small inside, I'm just under 6ft and a few pounds heavier than I should be but was very comfortable in it.
  8. You have an amzing talent for taking threads "off piste" (in this case taking a discussion about electric aircraft and posting about electric buses) and then when people respond to your "off piste" post (as I did in the quoted post) making it seem like the other person was the one who took it "off piste"? In the last few days ALL my posts in this thread have been related to electric aircraft despite your attempty to confuse the discussion with electric buses and HGVs.
  9. Sorry Net Zero is not a con IMO. I fully support that and low emission zones and very much more. It is the way the drive to Net Zero is being done and the way money is going to those and such as those and not enough being achieved. eg. Charge Place Scotland and Transport Scotland and the millions thrown the way of some is ridiculous. There should be employment, job creation and training going along with getting the Publicly Owned Facilities built for then Renting to Companies for Charging Hubs along with the National Grids co-operation & support. The Community facilities like Emergency Services should be in these areas along with the EV,s that many use & other facilities like the Transport Hubs. But then there are 4 countries of the UK and the one that most needs to be getting on with things due to the most of a population is the one that can not get their act together. But NIMBY,s are every place. Then the climate change deniers.
  10. The Truth is that Jeremy Hunt MP is very upset at being called a liar as he thinks politicians should not say that about another politician. Well real world they should not be such lying and cheating barstewards. Time will tell how much of a con anything is with the drive to Net Zero, but what is obvious is many are making money and as i said money lost is not the Financial Establishments money. It is savers, investors and pension funds, local authorities investments of tax payers money.
  11. @Winston_Woof @PetrolDave @Graham Butcher There is a hybrid petrol/electric version of a Cessna Skymaster using one of the normal Continentals and an electric motor to drive the other propeller. However, it is fitted with the belly cargo pod, which is used as the location for the battery pack, so it's badly compromised on payload volume/mass compared with a conventional twin Continental machine.
  12. My understanding was that VAG vehicles generally do not have 'direct' TPMS (where inflation-pressure sensors are fitted to the base of each tyre valve) but have, instead, 'indirect' TPMS that exploits the vehicle's ABS and (basically) compares the rotational speed of each road-wheel against an overall setting. Direct TPMS permits actual tyre pressures to be displayed. Indirect TPMS does not, but may be able to indicate which wheel(s) there's a problem with. If a vehicle has direct TPMS, there is normally no driver-operable RESET facility. If a vehicle has indirect TPMS, there will be a driver-operable RESET capability. The two TPMS types are explained here https://www.schradertpms.com/en-gb/driver-education/direct-tpms-versus-indirect-tpms Unsurprisingly Schrader 'likes' direct TPMS as the company has a vested interest. Personally, I 'like' indirect TPMS, as there are no tyre-valve sensors, but I fully recognise this system's limitations. In the past, where a vehicle has not had TPMS, I've used TyreSafe products https://www.tyresafe.org/the-checks/ This involves fitting a sensor to the top of each tyre valve and allow inflation-pressure data to be read on a small display-screen in the cab.
  13. And an electric bus is not the right horse for an intercontinental course, So while the development and deployment of electric buses is great for UK travel it's not relevant for most aircraft journeys which involve travel over water to a holiday destination (Tenerife, Corfu, Bahamas, Australia, etc.) The testing and approval process for large passenger aircraft is rightly arduous since there are so many lives at stake.
  14. Jeeez imagine the turn around times at airports if they have to recharge after each flight. Now electric oil tankers with solar assistance, that makes a bit more sense
  15. The sooner they get on with getting on with fully developing and producing those Electric Planes the better. Obviously those that are not buying a traditional plane and will never buy one who will get all worked up about how they are not practical as they can not go far enough or are a fire risk & how there is an alternative and more advanced technology just down the line.
  16. Sounds like bull**** re the cams to me...
  17. Thought I'd share a recent installation of a Lazer Lamp Triple R 1250 i-LBA lamp i fitted to my Scout in case it's of interest to anyone else. Lazer Lamp's technical guy said he's never fitted one to an Octavia or had enquiries from anyone doing so before me. The headlamps on my Scout are just bog standard lamps and they're rubbish. I really struggle driving at night and spend a lot of time driving in the Lakes and Highlands in Winter. The lamp was a serious investment which I spent a lot of time considering but I'm pleased to report that driving at night will never be the same again now, it's incredible. The intelligent Low Beam assist mode helps after switching from main to dipped beam and has a sensor which automatically reduces the output when other cars are detected or reflection from signs. Photos attached
  18. I assume that's a DSG-equipped vehicle?
  19. This any help:- Thanks. AG Falco
  20. PS The rightly arduous testing and approval of aircraft has got to where Boeing are prepared to plead guilty to a fraud charge for mis-leading U.S. Regulators who approved the 737 Max Jetliner. The families of the dead including the pilots widow i heard last night do not want that to be accepted. The argument i heard from someone last night was that Boeing is too big to fail & NATO are reliant on them as well as the many thousands of workers.
  21. Hello, I have already entered the 4 digit security pin that is asked for upon starting the bolero unit, if that's what you mean. I am able to access all the functions and mess around with the settings, but the only thing that is amiss is the sound from the speakers.
  22. Interesting, but I was posting about aircraft and you're posting about buses and HGVs - so we're posting about different things?

yeah most likely the cam magnets or the oil spool valve if it sounds like a diesel
  24. Thanks for that. Thanks everyone who replied. Food for thought. Thanks again!
  25. At 2.8 tons that battery is going to help make that truck unstable to drive as its weight is quite a bit higher than where the normal diesel engine along with the weight of the diesel in the fuel tanks would be thus making it more top-heavy before the trailer is even hooked up and loaded. It makes more sense in the big American truck that Robert Llewellyn is talking about in his Fully Charged video, but I would have expected a better standard of journalism from him when he speaks about that 16 Litre diesel and that we have been using that technology to move goods about for the last 120 years 🙄. Truth is that the very diesel powered truck was made by Mercedes-Benz in 1923 and they only started to gain real traction about 10 years after that, so there is a big difference between what he claims and the real truth so take what he says with a pinch of salt.
  26. @Graham Butcher you are always suspecting what happens elsewhere. Maybe best concentrate in where you know and not guessing or suspecting.
  27. Certainly looks like it has the facility to take a cover...
  28. I'd be soooo tempted to feed that back to the dealer and point out to them how ridiculous their pricing was / is...
  29. The indirect system on my wife's 2015 Mk3 Fabia seems to have very wide parameter(s) it should never be relied on and tyre pressures checked as usual, the one on my wife's car was very tardy in throwing up a warning, not really suitable for those that rely on the car's or other computers to tell them or remind them to drive and maintain the vehicle they are driving on the roads we all travel on.
  30. Err, no contradiction at all, it exists only in your head. EVs are ideal for those who drive either in the cities or short trips and can return home to charge, in which case, providing electric does not take a massive increase in price, they make perfect sense. The fall from grace bit is eminating from the time when people will be told once again, that EVs were not the future for the masses after all, just like the diesel was once claimed to be the fuel if the future. I thought that I made that clear in what I said, seems that you missed that point entirely.

The lock mechanism is between the inner and outer wings, and there are plenty of openings in the inner wing.
  32. Possibly because of creative accounting? Eurostar runs from overhead power lines exclusivly unlike any of the other options. (Would be interesting to see Domestic Rail split between external electric & other)

No, I’ve got the estate, I just pulled the boot lining open and fed the cable through the inner wing…
  34. the ideal eco friendly transport system (matter transporters) is yet to be invented ;o)
  35. Ignoring the spacers, the inner rim will be 20.1mm closer to the suspension and the outer rim will be 18.1mm further out with the new alloys vs stock. Compared to your current setup with spacers, that means the fronts will poke out by an extra 3.1mm (18.1 - 15) and the rears will poke in by an extra 1.9mm (18.1 - 20) so pretty close. I'd be a little concerned about the inner spacing so I'd suggest you remove the spacers and double check you have clearance inbound...
  36. A new battery will almost certainly fix all those errors
  37. Yes very true, but this is as with anything. Imagine. You are not getting one and you are not part of any ground crew or airport business are you, or a pilot. So it will be others making decisions on if they use them. There is a zero emissions all electric tanker. But a 100 Km at 10 knots is not changing shipping. But then if you are using tankers just to store stuff at sea then maybe a start. As are electric flights between island in the North of the UK or anyplace around the UK. Maybe especially where there is so much electricity generated and no National Grid / inter connectors to take it off the islands and the hydrogen production from it is not happening.
  38. I agree, it's all a matter of taste. Not wishing to upset VRS owners I've never passed comment on this before, but IMPO the Altair wheels are the ugliest things. I think those Becruz are much more stylish and less likely to date. They appear to be in the same genre as the Perseus Anthracite which I really like on my Octavia Style.

@eyalasd What engine a 1.0tsi or a 1.5 tsi? So what power. It is engineered to have it getting the best economy, and it will get out of 1st gear qr a low speed. There are 7 gears to go through. S will hold the gears longer, to a higher RPM before changing up
  40. I have the 2l. Diesel automatic estate. Standard servicing oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and cabin filter are all very easy to acess and work on. The DSG service is best left to a professional with a lift and the required equipment.
  41. i had to go to Dublin today, to our main HQ. I hate having to go up there. but, the trip does mean i now get to play ALL the rounds of the game! good bye Connect Hello Shiny new Courier. My mate is such a tart 🙄 He's managed to find a chip in the chrome on the kick start, and thinks the saddle re-cover should've been squares rather than lines. He took a friend with him to see it, who restores bikes and has his own motorcycle business. My mate tried to haggle on price, but the friend who went with him gave him the 'If you don't buy it you're gonna get a punch in the face' look, which was clearly received and understood Gaz

On my 1.2 2011 the engine rpm does not change when I activate the AC, but it works perfectly. På min 1,2 2011 ändras inte motorvarvet när jag aktiverar AC, men den fungerar perfekt.
  45. Hello and welcome, Kody. 😊 How thirsty is your Kodiaq?
  46. So I have been away from having a Skoda for 3.5 years, having had a KIA E Niro 4+, so I picked up my Enyaq Coup'e last Saturday 18th May, I have to say it is so good to be back in a Skoda. I did not want to post on this issue until I had actually received my new Enyaq Coup'e 85 Edition. So, the time line for my car is as follows, 1) 16-01-2024, configured my Enyaq 85 Edition on the Skoda configurator , added extras were, Moon White, Advanced Pack, Suit Interior, 20" Vega Silver metallic alloy wheels, Rubber Matts and Mud Flaps (Front & Rear). 2) 19-01-2024, sent Enyaq configuration to my Main Dealer. 3) 24-01-2024 Confirmation from the dealer that the car was ordered. 4) 13-02-2024 Dealer confirmed a build for week 12. 5) 06-04-2024 Dealer confirmed that car had been built. 6) 02-05-2024 Dealer confirmed the car had arrived in the UK. 7) 07-05-2024 Dealer confirmed the car had arrived at dealership. 8) 10-05-2024 View car in it's transport packaging at Dealers and arranged pick up date. 9) 18-05-2024 Took delivery of my new Enyaq Coup'e. I have to say, there was no way I had expected to get the car before July - August, I hope this may help, I do not know if others have had such a quick delivery, my Dealer was amazing, communication was over and above anything i have had before. So after being able to actually look at the car in detail, I have to say it is amazing, inside and out, but boy , it is a big car, love it.

    Yes, you can

As you have the 330 update, you can search one file inside called manifest.xml If you open it with any text editor you can see on which trains version it can be applied.
