  1. Timing belt was done in 2020, only about 20k miles ago (from memory) so that should be good for a while. Service book looks pretty well filled in at first glance. MOT smoke test probably the biggest threat to continued existence. Pal advised that he alternated between standard and fancy diesel and tended to go for an Italian tune-up en route to MOTs. Due end of Sept, so will soon find out on that front. May get him to MOT it before actually buying it, thinking logically.
  2. We both test drove it this evening. All good, so going to take it off his hands in a couple of weeks' time. Needs rear brakes, but I'm happy to sort that myself. Anyone want a Polo?
  3. 😲 After very nearly 10 years of my faithful Polo; a pal is selling a 57-plate Audi A4 estate with just 107k miles, 1.9 TDI and I am thinking it will be my next car, quite soon! Will feel terrible to lose the Polo, but no room to keep it. Partner wants to hang onto her 05 Fabia, and we'll each drive whichever is most appropriate for the day's journey or task. New house means we're both further away from jobs and friends, so a mile-muncher makes a lot of sense. Never owned a diesel before, but this one is pre-DPF and overcomplicated, inaccessible EGRs; so should be OK to maintain in good health. Didn't see that coming. Although a workmate with a similar commute did say as soon as I moved that I'd be wanting a better/comfier/longer-legged car, which I dismissed in my head at the time.
  4. meets the thread title requirements and enough change to buy something a bit different
  5. Just collected today. 6000 kilometres showing and very happy after a few hours behind the wheel. mk111 , I assume but registered Feb this year. Pleased to say it has all of the kit I wanted, inc reversing camera, heated seats, heated steering wheel. In fact the only (very small) thing missing is wireless charging. Sure I will get over it !
  6. https://www.theaa.com/mot/advice/what-do-i-do-if-my-mot-fails
  7. Looks ok, clean it to get rid of the oil and grease.
  8. Given that discs and pads with zero wear are routinely shown on the service invoice to be "75% worn" (its simply a keystroke code in the invoicing software to make money) then I'm not surprised they would start the scare tactics with pads that maybe are approaching 75% worn.
  9. So you can drive the car from the testing station because the old MOT is still valid, The Police would only be interested if it was flagged as Dangerous. If the light has only just come on it would be unlikely the pads were dangerous
  10. Or maybe they didn't do an official MOT. Sure I've checked afterwards and my details were there almost immediately. So if not officially failed then as the website states your vehicle is still has a valid MOT. Recheck in the morning I guess to be sure.
  11. The light coming on was awfully convenient for them don't you think? I bet if you were to turn up unannounced to take the car away they would start flapping and saying there is something they have to do urgently to your car before handing it over like reconnect the sensor connector they disconnected and do a print out of the logged fault code. Its undesirable to have an MOT done by a place that also does repairs but I appreciate that MOT garages like my pals who only do MOTs are thin on the ground, even more undesirable is allowing a main stealer to do it.
  12. Put your reg number into the MOT Checker https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history As said if they logged it as a dangerous fault then it can't officially be driven. If the light only just appeared then there will be some pad material still left, but I've no idea how MOT classes that. Also the pad sensor is often only on one side so uneven wear could be different other side

Search for Aperture S on here - he did my estate with an OE camera and relevant fittings - fantastic job. He's in Potters Bar so not too far - I traveled up from Kent to get mine done and don't regret making the journey.
  15. Friend of mine has just passed 600k in his '02 model and it's showing no signs of giving up any time soon. He is a mechanic, so it's been looked after (aside from never cleaning the interior) and just shows what you can do if you follow the maintenance schedule. You will likely find the glove box door has snapped off, and the cup holders are broken, but both have easy-fix kits on eBay to get them working again.
  16. Same here, but ID.7 is too big. Its longer and wider than my ID.4 so will struggle to fit on the drive and be more awkward on the lanes around here. After my car was hit by the bin lorry while on my drive, I like my cars to be tucked well onto the drive. However, when I played with the numbers, an ID.4 of similar spec to the ID.7 tourer was similar money on the lease and cheaper than my PCP from 2021. An Octavia/Golf sort of EV estate is really what I want. I tried the Astra and it was a bit pants inside but maybe that's because my ID.4 is nice....
  17. BMW Australia has recalled 26,491 examples of certain BMW, Mini and Alpina models sold between 2022 and 2024, citing a potential fault with the braking system. The affected vehicles are stamped 2022 to 2024 models. BMW Australia has confirmed it temporarily paused deliveries of new vehicles while a software fix was developed, which has now been released to dealers. The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing defect, signal interference may occur within the electronics of the brake system. If the fault occurs, a higher pedal force may be required for braking. The anti-lock braking system and dynamic stability control will also not be available. https://www.drive.com.au/news/bmw-and-mini-recall-26000-vehicles-in-australia-due-to-braking-concern-stop-sale-lifted/ NB cant find a recall for Mirrors though ;o)
  18. Hi all, My current daily driver is a 2020 Scala. After turning my fog lights on one morning, I got a warning message telling me to check the left side rear fog light, and sure enough, it wasn't lighting up. I'm running into some trouble with replacing the unit, as I can't really find a guide or schematic showing how to remove the damn thing. It's located on the bumper, so it didn't turn out to be as simple of a job as I first thought. Does anybody have any idea on how to do this, or should I just eat my pride and take the car into the dealer?
  19. https://bookmygarage.com/blog/will-worn-brake-pads-lead-to-mot-failure/#:~:text=If your brake pads are,a reason for MOT failure. According to this, 1.5mm pad thickness is the criteria and not the warning light. Pretty recent article so should be fairly accurate. Maybe worth calling them out on it armed with knowledge and a little bravado, I personally think they are trying to make a mug out of you. You can also dispute their decision too I believe but not sure how long winded that would be.
  20. Very nationalist the Parisian authority as the 2T EV limit will hit the big Gernan EVs and the bigger battery Enyaq. Think the big Peugeot 3008 will also get wacked but Renault are building lighter EVs. Paris does its own thing. When I wad part of Bollore we had 5,000 Blucars on the streets of Paris until they withdrew the subsidies almost without warning then we gad to close down a unique EV project. It was reckoned we were taking as many as 100,000 ice journeys a day off the roads of Paris. One of the Blucars got hired 40 times in one day. Oft just a jaunt from Gard de Nord to the Sud but still. 6 minute hire intervals. The odd fire wad out down to homeless breaking in and starting a little warming fire !! Still work for a French firm, we have been and are doing the logistics for tge Olympics. Think I prefer Marseille to Paris which is our head head office ie CMA.
  21. It did the same with me, I would unplug it, and try to set it up the normal way.... without success. Got frustrated, locked the car up and left it for the day, but the next time I used it, it was working wirelessly. I've taken a photo of my software set up, 1803...buggy as hell, but Android Auto is working wirelessly...
  22. Might be split, might be grease from when it was last fitted, give it a squeeze like an MOT tester and see if more grease comes out.
  23. And still make an obscene profit.
  24. Apparently 0-100 kph in 8s is now regarded as slow. This video from Bjorn Nyland, the prestigious tester of EVs and this is the more powerful 220 hp version and not the 170hp version I am getting delivered in the next few weeks. Scenic is quite light for an fair sized EV. Front wheel drive maybe deducting half a second or so from the 0-100 but it does give for good cabin space which the Scenic has......
  25. The handle is the same regardless of left or right hand drive. Only the actual cubby changes.
  26. I have found that Bosch produces such fans 250/150W 280mm but with 2 codes. 0130 107 262: Not for cold climates 0130 109 237: for cold climates (a little bit higher price) The weird is that the local Skoda dealers and the spare part stores sell the 0130109237 model although here in Greece we have high temperatures. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/485671-bosch-radiator-fan-for-felicia-help-wanted/
  27. It's a 2.0 / TDI Automatic 85 kW front-wheel drive. I bought the car from a Skoda dealer in 2021 (new). Right now, it has 88,000 km, but I started to hear the sound at around 60000km. I don't hear the sound every time. In my case, I don't think it's cold vs. warm, but how much I accelerate. Usually, when I'm dynamically accelerating around the corner, the car shifts from 3rd to 4th gear is when I hear it. At the service shop, I asked them to change the oil in the gearbox, but they told me this gearbox does not have an oil replacement interval and that it should never be changed.
  28. It may be location sensitive, it works in Estonia.
  29. Here’s mine: looks totally disorganised, but I know exactly where everything is.. Unfortunately I have to share it with Mrs B’s flower arranging stuff, and a freezer and tumble dryer
  30. I'm going to PM you with some info in a minute. Edit: unless @Crasher has already done enough!
  31. The middle button will open just the boot, but you have to keep the button depressed for a couple of seconds. Just pressing it quickly won't do anything, It's a precaution against accidently pressing it when you lock your car. I had this experience when I had my Fabia. Thought it was a fault and spoke to the dealer. He came up with a load of crap about it being something to do with the basic Kessy system. He reckoned that because I didn't have the full Kessy system where you can lock your car by just touching the door handle, it "disabled" the boot unlocking on the key fob. I went along with that for 5 months until I saw a post on this forum that told me about pressing the boot release tab on the fob for a couple of seconds.
  32. Should be a sweet spot for mpg and reliability. suspect that engine could do 500k with care, the rest of the car will be like Triggers broom.
  33. I did the same thing
  34. That's a sweet mix in-between, without going total blackout. Very nice!
  35. i did a "Hybrid" version on mine - got the black Sportline grille frame, and kept the original inners with the chrome fins. the chrome fins match nicely with the DRL whiskers in headlights. i even did the same with my Skoda round badges - made the outer chrome ring black. did it to the bonnet & boot lid badges.
  36. Jaguar are recalling a load of 2019 I Pace models for yet another software update as a temporary measure to try and stop their cars from self combusting, even though they have already supposed to have the problem fixed by a software update. In the meantime they are telling owners to park them out in the open, away from structures, and also charge them like that as there is a risk of them catching fire on their own even when not on charge. Some that have had a previous software update to stop that, have still caught fire. Jaguar I-Pace Owners Told To Park Outside After 3 Fires Involving Previously Recalled EVs | Carscoops
  37. Thank you very much for the answers, guys. I really appreciate all the suggestions, as well as the extensive documentation provided by @Thefeliciahacker. That really will help a lot during the removal from the donor car. As the A/C will be going into the car at some point before next summer (probably at the end of the next winter season, I will give all of the details about the fan a good thought first, and get everything prepared with as much precision as possible. But seeing that I already have the nice OEM shroud and Autopal radiator, I will probably go with the "MAHLE CFF 7 000S" 150W/250W fan (in the picture), as that one should be sufficient for this use in our climate, and should fit the shroud that I have perfectly.
  38. Must admit I don't know much about the French "L'Argus", but I'm assuming this is a legit scoop... https://www.largus.fr/actualite-automobile/fabia-octavia-kodiaq-comment-skoda-va-faire-durer-ses-modeles-thermiques-30035667.html Sadly I don't speak much French so I'm relying on Chrome Translate's version: Fabia, Octavia, Kodiaq... how Skoda will make its thermal models last EXCLUSIVE. While continuing to develop an electric range, Skoda will make its thermal models last longer than expected. From the Fabia to the Kodiaq and the Octavia, L'argus reveals how long they will last and the developments that await them. By MaxK Published on 29/08/2024 - 12:37 There are many turmoil currently shaking up the automotive industry, particularly in the EU. Manufacturers must invest massively in electric vehicles in view of the ban on new thermal vehicles scheduled for 2035, but "zero emission" models are expensive and demand for them is stagnating, hence the need for mainstream brands to keep affordable thermal vehicles in their catalogue. The initial draft of the Euro 7 standard would have put an end to these in 2025, imposing pollution control systems that were too expensive for small cars at the end of their life. However, it has been relaxed and its entry into force is now looming for 2027. According to our information, thanks to this reprieve, Skoda will keep its thermal models around for longer than expected while developing a complete electric range. Three-year reprieve for Fabia, Kamiq and Karoq The current Skoda Kamiq and Fabia with MQB-A0 platform were launched in 2017 and 2021 respectively. They would have been condemned by the old Euro 7 project, which made it difficult to make the investments necessary to adapt them to the GSR 2 regulations (new safety equipment in July 2024) and CAFE (new CO2 averages for the ranges in January 2025). They could therefore have bowed out this year, but the new Euro 7 text has pushed Skoda to update them to extend their career. Volkswagen and Seat are doing the same with the Polo, Ibiza and Arona which share the same architecture as the small Skodas. The latter will leave the market at the end of 2027, and will give way to the small electric SUV Epiq which will have been launched in early 2026. We have not obtained details concerning the compact Scala, which also uses the MQB-A0 platform and could therefore disappear at the same time. The Karoq will also be withdrawn from the catalog at the end of 2027. This MQB platform SUV will be replaced by the electric Elroq which will have been marketed at the beginning of 2025. Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq make the resistance The largest models in the Skoda catalog, which are also the most expensive and therefore the most margin-generating, will be subject to greater investments than city vehicles in order to last longer. They are built around the MQB Evo platform, but will not be entitled to the classic hybrid engines (HEV) announced at Volkswagen for the same technical base. The current Octavia, launched in 2020 and restyled in 2024, could be offered again as a plug-in hybrid in 2026, with more than 100 km of electric range like the latest models of the kind within the Volkswagen group. This will depend on market conditions and the budgetary decisions of the German parent company. In 2027, it will receive a new update, at the same time as the classic mid-career update of the Superb and Kodiaq marketed last spring. According to our sources, Skoda is even considering offering a third and final facelift to this Octavia in 2031. Production of the Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq will cease in 2033. The former will be replaced by an electric raised estate developed under the name X Combi (launching in 2028), the latter by a large electric SUV internally named Space BEV (launching in 2026). No new-generation combustion-engined Skodas will be launched by then, meaning the brand will become 100% electric in 2033.
  39. Glad your issue got solved. On a local "ebay" I sell this part for just 10$. Worth to mention it is PETG filament (nylon is way stronger) and FDM (layers are visible) printed, not SLA like you've got. Anyway it does its job For anyone who has the same issue and owns a 3D printer (or has a someone who can make a print), here is a model link
  40. If there’s no difference to the way it drives and no warning lights flagging up then it could be something loose and the engine at idle revs is causing enough of a vibration that makes it noticeable, the AC raises the idle RPM ever so slightly that would increase the vibration a tiny bit which would explain it being noisier. Personally I would get it booked in and checked over, it’s definitely noticeable on that 2nd vid so at least you’ve got good proof of the noise.
  41. I didn't even get one when I bought my new MY20 car, but have added two since. If the parking ticket holder is missing, I wonder if the windscreen has been replaced? Chris
  42. Not a bad price if ready to move on a new car. My sister paid a grand more for a 6 month old one last year, so she's not going to be best pleased. Leasing prices are coming down, probably due to volume discounts by the manufacturers. Lease prices are looking more attractive than PCP presently. I could get an ID.7 tourer for £90 less than I was paying for the ID.4 PCP in 2021.
  43. Looking like decent sized EV's are reaching realistic prices (admittedly not RRP) ............. https://www.hotukdeals.com/share-deal-from-app/4404912
  44. Currently showing as out of stock - but keep an eye out
  45. I've just fitted mine with no rattles. It comes with different size adapters to fit around the metal tubes, if it rattles I suspect these have either not been fitted or the wrong size used.
  46. Need that black grille huh
  47. Skoda won't be able to help you You'll need the necessary software activations and an ADAS calibration. We can assist with both, or carry out the jobs in full The activation code's feature up to 8 features. So the same one could be used for the features on the camera and the radar, with some spare. I'm sure your insurance company would be overjoyed to find that in the case of an accident, nice easy way to wriggle out of paying out MQBEVO FECS.pdf
  48. Just had my yeti French mot'd, passed, although ref to the rubber disc connection, the outer metal rim has parted from the rubber core, have been looking for a listed topic, can't find it, anyone got a link to the posting, and also a part number? Thanks
