  1. You can buy water softeners for car rinsing. They are not cheap and in very hard water areas might only do 4-6 rinses before being exhausted. The AquaGleam as an example goes for about £70. Wash in the cool and the shade and towel off is the best bet.
  2. A few from this evening.............

Thanks for the explanation Travs. I sort of guessed it is all to do with emissions, but we were always told never to put the car in to manual and coast for safety and stability reasons. I assume the car would only enter this coasting mode under very specific circumstances. Not going down a hill with bends for example!

Weirdly not a sad moment when I handed the keys back to the dealer After 15 months, I finally managed to get Skoda to agree my vehicle rejection for the 12v battery issue Having logged every time it happened since the beginning of the year (26) one battery change less than a month ago and then the dealer reporting 19 further issues I am now the owner of a 2 1/2 year old Karoq sportline
  5. I've just done this on a Superb - finance agreements signed, but not activated yet (delivery next week). The dealer (Trans City) assured me that cancelling the finance agreement within the 14-day cooling-off period won't affect any of those benefits - it's something they do quite a lot, apparently.
  6. Many Thanks for the info downloaded the latest 7 zip file and all worked fine. Thanks

Assuming the TPMS had not been reset after the overinflated tyre was fitted, that is correct operation.
  8. Thank you very much, greatly appreciated. Is it update first then apply the patch?
  9. 1 point
If a wheel so the tyre, air in tyre heats up because of maybe a bearing going or binding brakes then the TPMS might well pick up on the tyres total radius / circumference increasing from the set size. So not just loss of air might get picked up on.
  10. hi again guys, I got back to the car today, tried the boot again (out of sheer hope), nothing. Popped the boot from inside using the manual release, worked fine. After loading the car and taking the car back to the car park, I left the rear wiper on (just in case), after about 10 minutes, wiper engaged and began working. Once parked, my partner checked the high level brake light was working… it was fine. Gave the boot soft button a try… worked fine! W,T,H? Has worked fine since too. Electrical gremlins? Loose connection? Kinked wiring somewhere… I dunno. Thanks guys. Happy man with the opening boot (it’s the little wins, even if they make you ponder wtf a few times a day).
  11. Hi @Mikeylorenzo not sure where you are with your trouble shooting but was referred to this by the spark who installed our charger this morning: Octopus and Hypervolt
  12. I'm sure that all they do is check it works and report back at extra cost if it needs gas or anything else - that fluff about inspecting the compressor, condenser and dryer is just that, fluff - as for the other 34 point car check, hmmm........ So, in answer to your question, ask yourself, does it work, is it cold enough? If no then don't waste £99 on what you already know, use it towards the cost of re gassing.
  13. I don't know much about valeting stuff, but could be worth heating it up to see if it melts and reforms as it should? Stand the can in a bucket of hot water?

Can you not use individual mode, and have everything in eco setting - or does this turn the coasting on too? I just leave mine in normal. When I'm having fun I'll put it in sport and then individual is for motorway use (everything to comfort, steering to sport). I've tried eco mode a few times. The coasting annoys me. Could be worse - the brand new SEAT's I've been in have all done it in every mode!

I've always ran 5W-40 in mine, and it gets driven hard sometimes. I've heard mixed reviews about 0W-20 in these engines but nothing bad about 5W-30/40. I'd stick with 5W to be on the safe side. It's also what VW intended when they produced these engines!
  16. Yes but that won't be long in happening. Will it?😄
  17. 1 point
The worst thing about coasting is the cars coasting and still catching up with slow buggers on a flat road 😂
  18. It will be going in but not to a dealer, my local guy has never let me down on anything.
  19. Agreed. However, Corporate VAG is probably thinking "storm in a teacup that will go away in a couple of weeks" without them having to admit they screwed up or that there was a cyberattack. What VAG corporate (actually most corporate media teams) don't realize is actually standing up and saying we made a **** up will show them in a better light than trying to hide it. The cover-up is usually more damaging than the original incident. If it were not for the current level of cyberattacks, I would 100% say it was a defect in the software and or a glitch in updating the servers.
  20. But it is possible to communicate that it is know issue. Instead customers had to sit in the dark...
  21. I try to do the Enyaq 1st thing as the drive is shaded then
  22. Hi Holmes, Place a strip of foam or a piece of rubber seal (1mm thick) between the VC frame and the decoration to eliminate the creaking noise. If you hear any noises around the side window frame in the future, the cause is likely a dirty upper door seal (not the glass). Thoroughly clean all the nooks and crannies of the seal. Silicone sprays do not help; you need to clean the seal thoroughly and, if necessary, use a suitable sealing stick
  23. Cost to public charge, maybe Rapid or Ultra Rapid still from about 45 pence to 89 pence a kWh. So 10 kWh from £4.50 - £8.90, to maybe take you only 24 miles or maybe 50 miles. The 300 miles+ at just 6.7 pence a kWh or so is lovely. 60 kWh for only £4.00 But there lies the Social Divide of Home / Work / Offpeak Charging compared to using Public charging.
  24. It is possible for fluid to leak past a master cylinder with no leak as it has fluid both sides of the seals. It is unlikely to pass the seals in a clutch slave or brake cylinder as there is fluid one side but none on the other.
  25. Thanks, I'll give it a read. Octopus said they have stopped the test charge step now and it goes straight through to the next stage during setup. I am able to trigger a bump charge from the Octopus app if I do it immediately after the car is plugged in so my guess is that there's a problem with communications handshakes resulting in the car not responding to a request for activation after having shut itself down.
  26. I wouldn't want to put a 'downer' here but having spent a lifetime in IT Since they’ve been telling me for a long time that no one else has reported this problem? That's fob-off stage 1 We have forwarded your case to our development team for further analysis. As soon as we have more information, we will contact you. Thank you for your cooperation. I'm afraid that's fob off stage 2 If you have the strength to persist, then fob off stage 3 is usually We're expecting a firmware update in the near (sic) future, lets see if that fixes it. Of course, it won't but by that time they hope you'll have given up and forgotten all about it! If not they will return to Stage 2, they'd really like to return to Stage 1 but that's a bit tricky since they've sort of admitted the existence of the problem in the past by going to Stage 2!

Yes - basically trading off the small amount of fuel needed to keep the engine idling without the engine drag so rolling for faster for longer, Versus No fuel while the car is rolling-with-no-throttle-in-gear but slowing down quicker as a result and lasting for less time. As a facelift it should happen for you in Eco and Normal profiles. But if you tap the gearstick back into Sport it won’t do it anymore (note that is Sport gearbox mode (sporty version of drive) which you can do in any profile, not the Sport driving profile - which will be in Sport DSG all the time). Kind of obviously, if you knock it over to manual/pull a steering wheel paddle it will also let the clutch back out. Whether it really actually adds anything is pretty subjective and condition-specific. Either way, it’s doing what it was designed to do 👍🏼
  28. @Brian15 Good answer for a TDI. Not so a TSI / TSI ACT. Can be Chatbots / AI answering these days. They can get as confused as us when it is not clear what engines people are asking about, or on here posting about.
  29. Hello to all from a new member. I felt compelled to join BRISKODA so that I could add my own experience to everyone else’s list of woes related to the MIB3 infotainment system used with USB memory sticks and forgetting what was last playing, when starting a new journey. I logged the problem as a warranty issue with Škoda in December 2023, 3 months after taking delivery of a new Kamiq. It took that long for me to convince myself that I wasn’t doing anything silly – and Gesture Control was disabled. This is how I described the fault to Škoda: When using the Media Player I find that, unlike previous Škodas I have owned, my Kamiq often fails to retain its audio track position between successive journeys. It actually forgets what it was last playing on about half the breaks between successive journeys. The other half the time it works fine. Whether the break between journeys is 5 minutes, or 5 days, the chances of the Media Player remembering or forgetting what it was last playing are about 50:50. It is particularly infuriating when I am 20 or so chapters into a long book and the Media Player loses its place. Now, after an extensive dialogue (multiple long email threads) with Škoda Customer Service UK, and latterly Škoda CZ, their response seems to be “well it works some of the time, so what are you complaining about?”. To compare notes with other sufferers, I have established that the 50:50 forgetfulness occurs irrespective of choice of USB memory stick: Capacity - 8GB, 16GB, 32GB up to 128GB Format - FAT32, exFAT or NTFS Manufacturer - Intenso, Kingston or Sandisk Connectivity – USB2 or USB3 stick using USB-C adapter OR USB3 memory with direct USB-C connectivity (e.g. Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C 128GB) For a long time, Škoda has refused to engage with me to resolve the problem but I have told them that I am convinced this a bug where the track-position system variable is randomly corrupted (when starting the car to begin a new journey), possibly in all VAG Media Players with USB-C connectivity across the Volkswagen-Audi Group. And just as I’m composing this post, I receive an email from Škoda Connectivity Help Desk in the Czech Republic, saying that: We have forwarded your case to our development team for further analysis. As soon as we have more information, we will contact you. Thank you for your cooperation. That’s 17 months since I first tried to get Škoda interested in fixing this bug! I guess it’s OK for me to refer Škoda to this thread, since they’ve been telling me for a long time that no one else has reported this problem? Apart from music and stand-up comedy, on long journeys I listen to audiobooks and it’s absolutely infuriating when, 20 chapters in, the Media Player loses audio track position and sends me back to the first file that was written to the USB memory stick. I find the problem so annoying enough that if this was a stand-alone head unit (like in the old days), I’d simply rip it out and replace it with an after-market head unit that works. But now it’s no longer possible to separate infotainment functionality from vehicle functionality so that’s not an option. I’ll post back whether or not I make progress with Škoda Connectivity Help Desk.
  30. Have to say the parents are doing an awesome job 👏
  31. Just because you can't see a leak that does not mean that fluid is not passing one of the piston seals. You'd only need a tiny amount to be doing this for the symptom you have mentioned. Rapid release of the pedal might even suck the fluid back into the system.
  32. I Assume you've unhooked the blind from the tailgate and it's retracted into the blind holder. It's a while since I had my SEL with the blind , but IIRC there's spring loaded latches at each end of the holder which you operate to release the holder completely
  33. It turns out the cable snapped on the window regulator. Managed to get it replaced for just under £200. I think the part was about £50 and the rest labour and vat. I was advised to use the windows more often due to the low milage on the car-16000 for 4 year old in July.
  34. This kind of confusion easily happens. Key thing is keep it simple, only set one thing. But once problem is understood, it should be very reliable. To be clear, I'm not immune to charge point problems, my regular Indra unit also had problem not charging the car. Charge point connector had connection issues probably due to me stretching the cable to reach Leaf to do cell balancing. It was promptly replaced under warranty. But during problematic times, if I know I must put energy into the car for the next day, I'd revert to granny charger. My point is that the charging location (home) is 100% reliable, there are many things can be done to manage known failures when at home. So arriving 0% is no problem.
  35. Just having that information will help no end T2000. I'm soooo glad I came on to the website and got involved with this community. Thank you so much buddy.
  36. If I had the funds & time I'd be tempted. Having said that, I'm running a 20 year old Subaru so need every penny for the next bill which inevitably will come at some point.😁
  37. FYI: DCC and electronic dampers are the same thing. There are a couple of threads in here somewhere discussing using eibach pro kit springs from other models. The result is the same ride height as original springs but with stiffer coils. May also offer better quality but that is subjective I think. Worth having a look. @Carlston is the spring whisperer and a font of knowledge with this sort of thing.

What fuel are you running the car on? I've seen this fault before; before you head down the rabbit hole can I suggest that you do a fill-up with some Shell V-Power and see if that improves the issue. If the misfire is more prevalent at cold, then this is definitely the problem. The theory is that the injectors are getting gummed up and with the little 1.0tsi engine, you need every ounce of help you can get. Tell the user of the car to fill up and take the car on an Italian tune-up; long fast run - keep it in 5th (don't use 6th) ; keep the engine revs high - and take it for a fast motorway/A-road blast. Don't be afraid to use the accelerator and floor it. Also check that the oil level is good before doing this.
  39. While everyone’s entitled to their opinion, I think the way one has chosen to express it is unnecessarily derogatory. It’s one thing to prefer another website, totally fair, we all have our preferences. However, t’s another thing entirely to come into this community and trash the site in such a dismissive way. If the roles were reversed, I’m sure VerticalScope the owner of the site you prefer would be thrilled to know one of their members was out publicly belittling other communities online. That kind of behavior reflects more on the individual than on any platform they’re talking about. There’s always room for improvement in any community, and thoughtful, constructive criticism is always welcome. But this kind of negativity doesn’t build anything, it just tears down. If you’ve got suggestions, let’s hear them. If not, maybe consider the kind of energy you’re bringing into the space. We’re all here to make things better, not bitter. Enjoy your site, and don’t let the door hit you backside on the way out…
  40. So it will be slightly over on the service. I wouldn't worry about it. Just book it now for when you are back. Thanks. AG Falco
  41. Greetings guys Revolution!!! I changed the Hotspot wlan Škoda scala from 5GHz (unfortunate channel 149, band U-NII-3) to "classic" 2.4GHz !!! Android Auto works with regular mobile phones !!!!!!!!! Huawei, Xiaimi and many others where you still need the older Android 6,7,8,9 and you can install an Android car.
