  1. Courtesy of the passenger, since I was on the M6 at the time.
  2. We'd parked up in our usual lay-by to catch the sunset and found the bird table had an opportunistic visitor!
  3. Hi all. Car is booked into Skoda Stirling for this Wednesday. Will let you know how I get on. FYI I bought and fitted the 6V0054800F stalk. It currently works for speed limiter but the mode button does nothing. Fingers crossed I'll be cruise controlling my way back from the dealers on Wednesday afternoon!
  4. Smashing Rainbow this evening (and the rain was very welcome!)
  5. Yeah, the acceleration in the 60 was a push back into the seat from standing start and the 85 is allegedly 1.5s quicker 0-60! Trained parking could be just a gimmick then if it’s that slow, but the ability to pull the car out remotely when some twonk parks to close sounds amazing! And I must admit, I do like my toys 😂😂
  6. I say maybe be lucky to find a newer version by changing the number, I tried changing one number at a time AND: download/vw/MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.50.zip to v1.31.51, v1.31.52 and at number 6 a new version was downloaded https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_OI_JND_Europe_v1.31.56.zip Install and don't see any change, the required logos missing...
  7. After receiving a mental guidance from my youngest and most enthusiastic helper (only 10 years old) I have reached out for the angle grinder and managed open up a flap to brake the door locks in a way that they released the latches. Now I am looking for couple of fully equipped doors, no colour preferences.

You can't sell legal tints and recoup some/all of your money though can you???? 😉
  9. Cheers Gav, feel quite humbled but equally chuffed to be awarded best in show. I guess it means I’ve gotta up the level for next year now! Good to meet everyone who come and said hello and talked about the car.

MAN is VAG…..probably came from the same refinery.
  11. Hi all, Just an update, I brought this ODB scan tool from Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/Veepeak-OBDCheck-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Supports/dp/B076XVQMVS/ref=sr_1_9?sr=8-9 And signed up to carista for a month. Turns out the car was coded to an EFB battery with 55Ah, so i have re coded the car to AGM & 60ah. Haven't had the stop start warning since :) Also turned on the auto lock above 15km/h and auto lock when leaving the car. So happy days Gaz
  12. Watching this jay through kitchen window having peanuts😁
  13. Got some absolutely beautiful roses in our garden: Gaz
  14. Ok it's getting to holiday season again so... Group B Hyundai i20 booked from a local hire car outfit. Place your bets...
  15. I bet my way was fasterer and more funerer achieving the same end result 😂
  16. Nope, if you can get the door card off the inside, and expose the lock mechanism, you can cut open the plastic shell with a sharp stanley blade. then, use 2 allen keys to manually wind back the gears that conteol the deadbolt. 1 to wind it and the other to hold the tension on the spring. once its wound back, just pull the door release arm / cable. then take out the 2 retaining bolts and put in your new mechanism. test test test test test with a screwdriver before you ever think about closing the door.
  17. Forgot about one electrical fix that happened a few weeks back. Cabin fan resistor replacement. Wasn't working on speed 1, unacceptable. Researched it on here and found a thread that covered it, although at one point (in a vid?) it's claimed that the three M6 fasteners that hold the airbag in have Tx27 heads. That wasn't helpful, cos they're Tx30, and it makes it even easier to drop one if the tool is a loose fit... Lost one deep in the dash, just found something similar to replace it with. Hope the stray one doesn't cause any issues wherever it ended up.
  18. I didn't know that back then 😂 Door was deadlocked and wouldn't open at all so if you mean the Allen bolts that go into the lock to hold it in place that wasn't possible. The chisel disengaged the lock, door open and lock replaced. I'll know in future to ask you 😆
  19. if its the same (ish) lock mech as a mk1 octy (and i dont see it bein that different) you can do it with a stanley knife and 2 small allen keys. no violence or hammering required at all...
  20. v1.31.56 was released last November.... I've had it a while. The email you had sent you said the update that was meant to be released last week was v1.31.58. I've just checked the site again and it does now have the latest version available to download as v1.31.58 (12/03/2025) so the latest update is now live.
  21. Ah jaysus, i dont think you meeded to get that violent with either lock. could you post a pic of what that lock looked like? im interested to see if what i was guiding you towards wouldve worked. hopefully help the next guy not need to take the heavy artillery to their doors
  22. Oops, got a strut brace. I don’t know if trucks NEED them but I keep hearing that they have them and mine doesn’t, so one’s in the mail. I hope it fits and I can corner at mad speeds in years to come \o/
  23. I've never plucked up courage to try trained parking. Only had Maxx to get the two electric seats which you didn't get with the Advanced Pack. I'd have to say though, that the 360 cameras together with the excellent turning circle, make parking pretty easy anyway. Maybe one day when no one's watching. ☹️
  24. New one delivered and fitted , and now heater blower works on no1
  25. Sorry John. God knows where I got Mark from :)
  26. VCDS keeps a copy of all changes in two files in C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Debug called CodingLog.csv and AdpLog.csv which you can open with Notepad.

@chills Thankfully there are those that do, and not all with the knowledge that tut tut. When the legislation gets going let us know please. Plenty threads on that over the past years.

MOT,s, DVLA Inspections & IVA,s if needed are not an issue. If you do not know what is needed, then others do.

Theres a fellow on you tube put the rs3 engine and 4 wheel drive into a mk3 octavia vrs .
  32. Typical VAG part numbers confusing everyone, the last letter can make all the difference….. The part numbers for 288mm discs are 6R0615312D 6R0615311D https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/6r0615311d-brake-shroud-front-left-skoda-24180.html
  33. I would be tempted to have a very good look for the looms, maybe even remove the front bumper if you cannot see much and see if the plugs are clipped up out the way, you never know.

I like using the coasting. Maybe it's because I remember driving two-stokes in the 1960s which had a lockable freewheel to avoid the engine being starved of fuel and lubrication on the overrun. That was freewheeling though and you didn't get engine braking if you applied the brakes. We regularly visit Merthyr Tydfil from Brecon and on the return journey, there are some long straight downhill sections where I can coast and maintain 60mph, whereas the car would slow down if it was in gear. I can sometimes coast up to a roundabout or junction and only use the brakes when I'm close to them, though this is fine if the road's quiet, but not when you're in traffic and there are other cars around you. In a month or two's time, were moving to Lincoln, so I won't have any hills to coast down around there!
  35. @mac11irl I'd imagine they're similar, but probably not identical.
  36. Feels more like the tool you formatted it with and media. Fat goes to 32gb and exfat is used above but then there are specialist versions of Fat that were / are supported prior to exfat coming put. Utility programs that use non standard cluster size to make it fit. Highly unlikely a mib device would take too kindly to those formats produced by these utilities. True if it's 32gb or less SD media the natural format would be Fat. Above that you switch to exfat. https://www.transcend-info.com/Support/FAQ-748 People bought the 64gb cards when the combined release of mib1/mib2 high would not fit on some 32gb cards. Exfat comes in on those although some people opt for ntfs but that isn't designed for solid state memory access. Only a mib2 release now so fits on 32gb card without issues. Rule of thumb is <= 32gb FAT, >32gb exFat. Use Windows to do the format not a utility program.
  37. Exfat does not work fine in Seat Ateca. Only Fat works 100%
  38. with the facelift model, the behaviour changed, yes. tis a shame the setting (duration) can't b changed on the pre-facelift models. no one has been able to crack it yet, even looking in the associated parameter file(s).
  39. use an open handed strike with the heel of your palm. gets a nice thump.
  40. That yellow one needs a new bonnet stay rather than that painted broom stick.

Yeah it is.. Took it on a 400 mile round trip this weekend and loved every minute of it... Apart from the traffic
  42. I’ve only been a member for a week and find this site easy to navigate as each model has it own section and each mk of that model a sub section . Mods were quick when I reported a spammer yesterday to get rid I think the toddler didn’t get the attention and threw a tantrum

The worst thing about coasting is the cars coasting and still catching up with slow buggers on a flat road 😂

  45. The coding for CC is done via SWaP/FeC and can only be done at VWAG approved locations such as the dealership. If its other things you need coding via VCDS I could potentially help next time im up that way.
  46. Last week I ordered an Elroq Edition 85 in Graphite Grey with Advanced Pack and Winter Pack. Dealer thinks three to four months for delivery… Anyone have a price for mud flaps front and rear with fitting?
  47. Got my 2021 Octavia Estate SEL 1.5 TSI First Edition in October 2023. It came with several of the well-documented software "issues" which I was fortunate to get sorted under the original warranty. It was invaluable getting information from this group as I could be extremely specific with the dealership about what I wanted sorting, going as far as printing out TPI's, etc. In all honesty without the knowledge I gleaned from the group I suspect the dealership may have fobbed me off although, to be fair to them, they do seem to be one of the better Skoda dealerships. The car now all works very well, with great fuel efficiency, I like the tech side of the car and it drives well. I appreciate the frustration early purchasers must have experienced as it seemed to take Skoda an unacceptable amount of time to sort out many issues, often taking a total denial stance, which all seemed to be mostly software-related. I think this is the modern-day problem with all cars, they are so technical and built around software, that the mechanics rely almost completely on diagnostic computers - if the computer says "no" or the manufacturer hasn't acknowledged a problem they don't seem to be able to progress a solution.
  48. That is interesting. I'm sorry to our European counterparts that I hadn't given a thought to LHD/RHD variations. Wilkommen and Bienvenue.
