  1. Picked up the “new to me” van Wednesday. The novelty quickly wore off at a couple of width/weight restricted bridges. Will try and do some arty shots on the building site, tip, builders merchants etc. Though unless it’s moving fast with a number stuck on it, it’s not really my thing.😂
  2. Not every day you see one of these in Sovereign Harbour: Gaz
  3. Hi all Just a quick hello as I picked up my new Octavia VRS estate yesterday 😃
  4. Let AG Falco help you, he's an expert. No need to charge a battery that's already at 12.8V, even an AGM. The first thing the car will do if you put a 100% charged battery in, and code it, is let it deplete back to around 80%. So pointless.
  5. Just to finish off this thread. I never managed to find an OBD that would communicate with the ECU so took a gamble on a Lambda and it worked a treat. Emissions down from 6% to about 0.2% instantly so there you go! Thank you to everyone for your ideas and help.
  6. A PITA but so easy done. The tyres don’t protect them much either. There’s a cast iron grate outside our old house built into the kerb, if you catch it you get a cut side wall and knackered wheel. Don’t ask how I know🤣 Downgrading to white steel wheels on the van for winter and to avoid damaging the silly money 22” alloys. Good thing is Steels are two a penny because no one wants them. £300 for five brand new wheels and tyres from the bay, bargain!
  7. You don't need that on modern cars though. In car manual there should be requirements listed to activate DPF regen. On my previous Skoda which was a diesel, it was enough to drive steady at speed above 80km/h and car would initiate regen at lower rpm.
  8. This was meant to be a weekend job but I just couldn't help myself and got stuck into it this evening after work 😂 the car is no longer in pieces and is now back as it should Horn is now in and working and a small change at the rear you wouldn't really notice which is replacing the boot struts. Many years ago I had the idea of having one of those fangled boot poppers that opened the boot on its own, I got about 80% completed on it and never finished it so the boot would always take your head off when you opened it 🤣 replaced with some OE matching Febi struts which is way better, boot poppers are still in so it opens on the push of a button (generally the button unlatches it but you still have to press the button on the boot to open it 🤦🏻‍♂️)
  9. Crepuscular Rays on the way home this evening (phone photo as had forgotten the camera) 😬

I took a similar dealer's car with 1,700 miles on the clock for a test drive and over 26 miles tried every variation of manual and auto with the DSG, including red lining a few times. I'm still driving that car seven years later without a hitch.
  12. So its only now and then the sparks are new the petrol cap makes a click noise erm the fuel filter is couple years old erm its only when driving along have looked at exhaust seems ok erm dont know what else to say ?? And thankyou for your help
  13. I am away for two weeks. But I need to go past Ringwood not long after I come back. PM me if this is OK. ( Private Message ) Thanks. AG Falco
  14. For me it has the following 5 uses: 1) Ability to remotely check that it’s locked. Very useful for those “did I lock the car” nagging doubts when you are some distance from the car, avoids a long walk back to check only find it’s locked! 2) It contains a tracker so you can see where your car is. Useful if stolen or you can’t find/remember where it’s parked. 3) Entering destinations into the sat nav. Using the app, which uses goggle maps, is much easier and then upload it to the car. 4) It contains the history of all the driving that gets displayed on infotainment screen. 5) Digital Certificate with service history. When I started writing this post I thought it was 3 uses but it expanded to 5 very quickly.
  15. @kannanni If you're only doing 1_000 miles per month, I'd say petrol and sidestep the issues a DPF or a LEZ Zone can cause. Any I've been in had 17" wheels, and rode very comfortably.
  16. Up to you but I always fully charge the new battery after it arrives to 100% charge with an appropriate battery charger maintainer, it should take too long with a brand new battery. An AGM with potential at new of 12.7/8v can be delivered at 12.4v which is fine but I prefer to with a known fully charged battery. The VW stop/start computer program will soon have it at 80% to allow room for regenerative charging but it does the battery good to be recharged to 100% occasionally, as helpful prevention from getting too low too often and shortening its useful life. If you're going from EFB to AGM and a change in Ah then you want the new battery 'coded in' sooner rather than later but not ultra urgent panic situation. I'm sure AG Falco will at the same time clear any error codes that might have come up from if the last battery got too low and any other error codes deleted you want, good to have electronics/programs as clean and clear as possible. I remember when the Ringwood brewery opened and before you know it's 25 years old then it's sold and just another brand and label with the Marsrton's name and on with our local mega-kegary Carlsburp, time can be so cruel.
  17. You don't know what the current level is though do you? i found that even 200ml less than recommended, caused issues, there is a post further up that explains the re fill procedure for your gear box model. Personally,at my level of expertise.... considering the risks in not locking out the selector properly, i would take the car to a VW indie specialist, get it wrong and its gearbox out job........ The golf mk7 forums have more info.
  18. This is the Skoda wheels brochure https://www.skoda-auto.com/_doc/6d5c59b3-5d97-451a-ab78-2ef185e6e373 There is also a Skoda UK winter wheels (with tyres) brochure https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/d1040b95-40f0-431a-95ed-d531f289c13f As you will see, lots of different sizes for a Karoq. The 17 inch wheel with deeper sidewall will be less harsh over rough tarmac than bigger 18 or 19. However there are two things you need to be aware of, temperature and basic physics. Everyone knows rubber gets hard in cold weather, and harder is stiffer (less soft and probably more rumble). Modern tyres have all sorts of things in their compounds eg silica to try and balance grip with a long wearing life (and budget tyres have simpler compounds, so often don't wear or grip as well, because they are built down to a price). Generally all season tyres are softer at typical UK temperatures, than summer biased compounds (and if you want comfort avoid anything with sport or eco in its name as they tend to be even firmer). So if don't want to change the alloys (and you could be paying good part of £1000 to get set of 4 new), then look for premium all season tyres. Note some brands have two load ratings, and for comfort don't buy higher load ratings if you have a choice as sidewall is stiffer. There is nothing wrong with Bridgestone as a brand, but the turanza eco is an inappropriate choice if comfort is your first priority.
  19. Yep, that's the ones, with the springs inside the actual struts themselves, I actually think I still have the springs somewhere at my mum's 😂
  20. Thanks all for your input Quick update – I spoke with the servicing dealer and they have narrowed down the source of the A/C leak. It’s either the refrigerant hose that goes into the bulkhead or a connector for that hose. They’ve ordered replacement parts and are now waiting for them to arrive.
  21. Where in the New Forest? PM me if you like. Thanks. AG Falco
  22. The Skoda dealer should have given you the price for the Gemini alloy rims from the Skoda accessory catalogue. These are about 60% cheaper (ie. about £240 versus £600) for essentially the same alloy rim, except for the OEM part number. However, you can't always get a colour match (but often can) from the Skoda accessory catalogue. The two Geminis shown in the Skoda accessory catalogue have colour codes 5E0071498G FL8 Black metallic and 5E0071498E HA7 Anthracite metallic. A Gemini in 8Z8 Diamond silver isn't shown in the Skoda accessory catalogue. Bear in mind that the Skoda accessory catalogue is regularly updated, so colours can appear and disappear. You can order alloy rims from the Skoda accessory catalogue from any VAG parts department by quoting the relevant OEM part number. The format xxx071xxx means that the alloy rim is from the Skoda accessory catalogue. An alloy rim with the format xxx601xxx is the full priced version from the regular parts catalogue. 23. Or come to Briskoda as many do, say what car and engine you have and the year and you pretty much get told the correct spec. And it is available in Super markets, Discount Stores, local Motor Factors etc. http://opieoils.co.uk good for a checker and service parts.
  24. Yikes! Danger, Will Robinson. Some sort of expert intervention is needed ASAP.
  25. New information from @ixtra More info here: New maps MIB2-Standard v.2510 in www.ateca-forum.de https://www.ateca-forum.de/index.php?thread/1945-navi-ohne-plus-daten-und-update/&postID=306002#post306002
  26. I did wonder why you've been posting less tbh, Mike. Hoping it's nothing too distracting. I've also wondered why JR hasn't been on in a while.
  27. @B33fy wow, a Austin A40, introduced in 1958 and was in production up to 1967, I wonder how many of todays cars will last as that long?
  28. Here's mine - high mileage lava blue 2019 L&K FL from Lithuania.
  29. A few years ago, I had the same problem of "Front Assist Unavailable" appearing on the dash. It turned out to be a broken bracket holding the radar unit in place.
  30. Yesterday I fitted a reversing camera. I set off the 'virtual pedal' whilst in the boot and ended up shut inside and had to shout for my family to let me out. 😂🤔😂
  31. Resolved! No one ever seems to post when they have fixed a problem! So, wire from fuse 12 to pin 1 of gateway, which should be battery live, was broken in the loom. Patched in new wire and all fixed. Can’t imagine anyone will ever the same problem but you never know….
  32. As Temperatures are rising in Germany, I am changing from Winter Wheels... ...to the 19" Summer Wheels - completely different Car...

Hopefully this is the right place to put this but just to say I used this company this week, ordered this Monday and arrived today. I was a bit wary of ordering as I’m in the UK but all turned out well; some great prices compared to UK equivalents and fast, reasonable delivery cost via FedEx. No affiliation other than a happy customer. https://www.skoda-parts.com/online-store.html
  35. I've now put 3000kms on the Scout with the 215/55/17 wheels. I did a trip around the Flinders Ranges in the North of South Australia. The car performed beautifully, giving me a softer ride with a much more durable tyre/sidewall. The scouts weakest point off road is it's ride height, but one of the reasons I bought it was it's on road ability and safety which included it not being too high. such is the nature of compromises. A superb scout with adjustable height suspension would probably be my ideal car. This trip took me over a lot of dirt roads, many creek crossings which were often quite rough and some mild 4wd tracks, The car was loaded with 4 people and luggage with 2 full size spares on a roof rack as it is quite remote in parts up there. I also had the front of the car covered in a paint protection film/wrap, which appears to have done a great job in protecting from stone chips, The factory side protection pieces also seem to have a good job in protecting the car
  36. Having finally managed to download last SatNav for my Columbus system. Unzipped & copied the contents onto a 64g sd card formated as exFat, update failed to load. Tried all help I could find without success.so in desperation tried using 32g sd card ready formated as fat32. It worked first time without any problem. Who knows why it would not work with 64g sd card, but I don’t care I have got the update done. ,
