  1. I see there's an odd bird on here so add a couple of our locals. I'm keen on photography. Almost any subject, but with so many beautiful native birds around our place making fantastic subjects they often get centre stage This is a female Superb Fairy Wren, followed by the male. He has a yellow petal they give to their girl. Some males lose their colour and regain in breeding season, whilst others keep it all year round
  2. OK, I'm only 4'22", but I've yet to find an SUV (hydrocarbon or Scalextric) that I find easier to get in and out of than a Superb. I can say that a Kia Niro (EV) will not let me sit behind myself comfortably.
  3. Most EVs are SUVs and quite roomy. Charging EVs is improving at a pace with couple of thousand being added per month and more competition on pricing. I occasional charge at relatives using by 3 pin plug and we share the cost saving over public charging ie I will pay then say 30p per kwh and they make money and I save bh paying half what public charging would cost. Refineries are closing in the UK and petrol station are and will increasingly shut down as their customers convert to EVs. Latest SMMT stats show EV sales continue to grow and look on target to hit 28% for BEV whilst pure petroldm nake up less than half the rest and diesel continue to head to oblivion in new car sales. Hybrids, particularly plug in hybrids with largish batteries capable of doing daily commutes purely in EV mode. Went to IKEA in Bristol which has an under store car oark.God on could smell and taste the ICE pollution was horrible and when you are with a one year old child one thinks of those terrible cars carsnogines in that air one is breathing in. Sooner we get rid of these cancer promoting vehicles the better IMO.
  4. Go electric. Your wallet will thank you.
  5. @wyx087 you 'liked' the Johnny Smith video of the Tesla he bought at auction. MOT failure car needing a few bits and pieces and a ticket. Much cheapness and with 'insane mode" called that with this dual motor car because insane not to buy this with Free Tesla charging and that ability to blow away the Corsa, Fiesta and Type R kiddies. Insure in your mum's name. PS. How many more like that are kicking around waiting to be the next fast food delivery vehicle to replace their e-bike,?
  6. Had a surprise this morning. Skoda dealer calls to say our new car has arrived and ready for collection tomorrow. Will be something of a rarity as one of the last 85 SportlLine with DCC…. Hoping the Black Magic Pearl Effect looks better in the flesh so to speak 🤞🏻
  7. It’s not the booming noise that occurs when driving with a rear window open, is it?

Hello. i am the newbie from Finland. and here is my Skoda in my grandmas place.
  9. +100000000% That said, it's strange to have that at 35/40mph - motorway speeds I could understand. Anyway, first port of call is to check all of the cabin seals - doors, windows, boot, cabin filter, drains, etc. Anything else is totally irrelevant to that problem.
  10. Gawd bless the Octavia. Mine is a 2011 model with 49,000 miles on the clock and I regularly get over 50 MPG on a run and about 45 MPG around town. Every time the press publish a list of most "nickable", most "unreliable" cars etc. I am heartened to see no mention of the Octavia. Let's keep flying under the radar folks !! 🙂
  11. Hi Guys, thanks for all the messages. I went for the wheel shop option of 185/60/R15. They didn’t have a 65 option but it’s near enough and will hopefully fit in the wheel well when it arrives. I’ve got all of the kit/insert from my Seat Leon, so no need to buy another. It’ll do. The jack and wheel brace should be fine, I’m just hoping the tow ring is the same size. But it should be … famous last words.
  12. Welcome. Have you listened along with the passengers with the windows open? Have you checked or adjusted the tyre pressures?. (& reset the TPMS) So what engine and gearbox has your car? What age and miles has it done? EDIT. i see a 2016, but had to look at the profile. Have you checked where the Pollen Filter is, then looked to see there is one, and it is clean? ? Are there flaps at the rear of the boot that allow pressure to release when the doors are closed? Maybe sealed up by someone because they had water in the boot.
  13. I am using allseasons for over 10 years, never had any problem, winter/summer or all in between. As long as driver knows limitations of the tire and his car everything is ok and sometimes they can even be driven "sportier". My question is for people who use, lets say premium allseason tires, on Skoda Superb 3 diesel. It is rather heavy so I 'd like to hear personal experience of driving in different road conditions. Usual suspects would be tires from Goodyear, Continental, Michelin.......and now Pirelli SF3, but Pirelli is brand new so probably no "allseason" opinions.
  14. Tesla have not done ones yet that are not looking like a Tesla. It is the likes of the BYD, Xpeng, Omoda /Jaecoo, Skywell, Seres and others that need the badge read in many cases. PS There are families that are loan parents, or young families as in the children are young. Family cars for hard working families with the need for just small cars. Cheaper and not something the weight of an elephant. Little people do exist. Diddy men and Diddy women with Diddy children. .
  15. Just get a Spare Steel with a 195/55 R 16 tyre then since you have that on the car and that fits in the spare tyre well. Or get an allow with that tyre. Even buy a tyre that matches those on the car. Run at the same pressure, but remember if brand new / green to run it in a bit, it still has release agent on it maybe. Or buy a used one. As long as tyre is OK. 185/60 R 15 was the size of spare from Skoda in Mk2 Fabia. You could get a 205/40 R 17 in or a 215/ 40 R 17.
  16. I echo this thread's sentiments! Just gone from south Wales to Essex (Harwich) in our 1.9 TDI and will be going to Poland next week. 240 miles on first quarter of the tank. MPG around 77 according to "the internet" and that is laden with kids, bags, wife and full boot.
  17. My understanding is that you will need to buy an identical alloy wheel and tyre size if you don't want to be subject to speed and distance restrictions in the event of a puncture.
  18. car is not stable with all seasons like on summer tyres. i am tired of changing wheels every six week, and or karoq last year bought Bridgestone Turanza All season 6, feeling is better than on CC2. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Bridgestone/Turanza-All-Season-6.htm
  19. Sons failed due to a very slight leak in exhaust which affected emisions. MOT guy sealed it up with black stuff and it passed. It wasnt noticeable as in loud but he noticed some black soot around the centre join. My fault as I hadn't tightend it up properly after a rushed flexi repair.. He was surprised such a small leak could affect emisions. Same as yours 1.2 HTP. Might be worth checking yours for leaks. Alasdair
  20. Yes, we had that too with the car and yes it did seem 'low-rent' :). I've managed to download a manual now and that will suffice. Thank you.
  21. First: What is the question? Second: There are two link bars between the suspension and the sensor, one on the front left and one on the rear left.
  22. @Edinburgh Park, near South Gyle. 2 Airborne Place. 70 pence a kWh. 7 / 11 AC. 4-5 Lochside way. 7 kW 50 pence. South Gyle Broadway. evyve 184 kW, 77 pence. EH12 8NF, Charge Place Scotland. 7 kW. Free. Many more chargers around and about now. MGF etc.
  23. Hi, welcome. The load index number 94 or 98 is to do with how much weight each tyre is designed to carry, going up just means you have even more margin on the carrying weight for the tyre, despite VWs being heavy old wide busses everything will be well over allowed for in normal use. The numbers are indicators rather than actually telling you how the tyres will behave with those numbers because each different make and model of tyre made be designed and built differently using varying materials and compounds so one make and model of 215/55/R17 98W tyre despite having the same (nominal) numbers as another make and model of 215/55/R17 98W tyre could feel and handle differently on the car. Tyres made for your country may also vary to those made for UK. Usually the numbers are on the inside faces of the wheels, but if you trust the following websites and their information is correct you can confirm with other reliable sources of information (like what's on the inside face of the wheels but a PITA and back! farting about with the silly VW wheel bolts to find out. (7.5Jx17 ET41) - Wheel-Size.com (Superb 2024- 2.0 TDI (non 4x4) 148 hp, Europe) - https://www.wheel-size.com/size/skoda/superb/2024/ Tyre load (and speed) rating - https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/advice/tyre-basics/tyre-load-rating-speed-rating For what 2023/4 Superb owners use or recommend you could look in this forum or you might be best looking and/or asking in the relevant Superb model forum. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/171-%C5%A1koda-superb/ HTH.
  24. Synthetic fuels hopefully. There will be a few historical cars knocking around but EVs, as they are becoming already, are so much cheaper to own that ICE cars one would have to be certifable to choose to run ICE vehicle.
  25. I got mine from The Wheel Shop, through Ebay, but you can go direct. Great deal and delivery complete with tools. Cheap Spare Wheels & Space Saver...Cheap Spare Wheels & Space Saver Wheels - Thewheelshop.co.ukThe wheel shop are the leading suppliers of cheap spare wheels, space saver wheels and steel wheels in the UK. 26. I will re-record a video for you at a convenient time and send it to you. But I don't know when I will send it.
  27. Ah yes. That one. My brain didn’t connect the dots. But it’s far from normal. £10k do get a very usable second hand EV for everything on this small island though.
  28. Can you name me one EV that I as 6ft 4" tall driver could drive comfortably and still have space behind me for another 6ft 4" person to sit in comfort, and I have 3 of these tall people to allow for? The car also now needs to higher off the ground than my Superb to make it easier for me to get in and out, also not costing an arm and a leg to buy, as I at 76 this year would not get credit option. Don't discount ICE yet, I bet it will fossil fuel still be in plentyful supply in another 50 years and electric cars might not still be thing then.
  29. A voltage drop is normal, due to surface charge dissipation, once charging is stopped. 12.54 is about 85% fully charged for AGM/EFB. If you unlocked the car to get the 12.54 volt reading, there will be modules awake and drawing power. There will always be a very small discharge, even with everything switched off and modules in sleep mode.
  30. We use to get stopped by the police sometimes more than once I a week. Issuex a HORT to produce documents to local police station, licence, insurance, MOT. Whether on Fizzies or ex police Dunstall tuned Norton Commando, 0 to 90 in 9 seconds. Never got stopped in cars unless it was an accident or speed stop or the like. Throw the book at non insured, attachment of earnings fines or up to 6 months in prison would like to see more off though we need the prison places of course.
  31. Even the 60 kwh, P60 ?, is Group 50 insurance so even doing the adding a oldie on the insurance i imagine insuring a Tesla S would nit ve cheap, like many of those high CO2 cars and their VED the insurance and tax per year will be as much as these ten year old performance cars cost to buy. Miss my Jaaag type S but several big negatives such as running costs and fear of something going wrong which make continuing to run economically difficult. Despite that still looking for a big performance rat car ! Lotus Charlton would be my dream but they are rarer than dragons teeth.

Me too, and I'm a 2012 vintage member as well (must've been a good year!) - you joined a few weeks before me. First day at home and work with it, and I had three people say 'This is a Skoda??!!' Welcome aboard Bluesauce Gaz
  33. Evening! Welcome to brisky! given your vag based background, you should be pretty familiar with most of the likely foibles youll find with your new car too ;)

Have to say I'm not enjoying the ride on the 19" alloys / low profile tyres. I'm tending to switch the DCC to Comfort mode most journeys, which certainly improves matters. Will definitely explore a switch to 17" wheels
  35. I haven't been able to leave it on long enough to get it full. It needs to be used pretty much everyday.

Cheers to you too! Phil Greenway, didn't he have something to do with Frog Island? Natterjack was a lovely beer, very bitter and hoppy if I remember correctly. Ok, cars only!
  37. I am amazed you were not told how much they wanted to rectify the fault. The well known by even the most incompetent of workshop fitter or tech. There is the cheap fix and the not cheap. & The DQ200 different from DQ250 or DQ381,s.
  38. Could be a coroded earth. Might be worth getting it scanned for fault codes to see if there are any stored. It could also be a relay thats failing or fuses that are loose or coroded Alasdair
  39. For a while I’ve been getting an occasional metallic clonk from the rear of the Fabia. Worst on right hand turns but sometimes over potholes I was convinced I had a broken spring. Local mechanic put it on the ramp and found a big lump of gravel in the spring cup. Thankfully a cheap fix 😀
  40. It’s been a great car for us! I’ve got it advertised on Autotrader for £1475 but I’ve been a member on here for 15 years and I’ve had my fair share of good deals over the years so it’s time to give something back to the forum.
  41. Replaced the rear brake pads and discs again, they only seem to last about 36k miles. Nearside pads were ok but the inside of the disc was rusty: Offside disc was ok but inner pad was completely worn out, must keep a better eye on them.
  42. Here's mine - high mileage lava blue 2019 L&K FL from Lithuania.
  43. My first go so please be gentle with me. A friend of mine took his car into his local Skoda dealer to have his breaks inspected. He receives a telephone call from Skoda , requires new discs and pads all round. Mileage was 22,000 but he agreed to the recommendation of the dealer. Next service his is informed that the discs and pads are worn out. From memory it's about 7000 miles. Change them but I want all the old parts back !! Plenty of warning but upon collection he was informed parts have been disposed off. Went to speak to the Dealer Principal who was amazed re wear but told him it must be his driving style. He told the dealer principal what's what and left the garage ! To this day he has not paid the bill for the break components. Now takes his 4 Skoda cars to a local independent garage and saved a fortune
  44. Just ordered a sportline 85 Maxx Test drove a 60 and was knocked out by the acceleration!! Looks like I’m going to enjoy the 85 👍😁 Lead time quoted ’around 3 months’ Moving my trusty Octavia to a friend Anyone actually tried the trained parking yet? Cheers Teejay
  45. Be interested in hearing the fix for this as this is the setup I will be using when the Elroq turns up. Reading some other forums the issues seem to be resolved by deleting all schedules on the car and hypervolt. The only schedule should be the one in the Octopus IOG. Hope that helps and please reply if you resolve the issues.
  46. Hi Luckypants, I finally got around to fitting the mudflaps. Not sure how many pics I'll be able to attach
  47. Surprisingly most people do not know how to correctly adjust their seating position, they know how to move things, but not the correct order to set them up. Basically they forget that the pedals are fixed, but steering wheel can be moved so they don't set up seating position starting at lower legs, instead start from arms and shoulders. Here is a link to how your seat should be set https://www.physiomed.co.uk/uploads/guide/file/21/Physiomed_Sitting_Guide_-_Driving_Digital.pdf
  48. You guys may think that but from someone with an IT background, it's much easier to administer a global update. I don't have a problem with that, what I do have a problem with is the way VAG ( it's not peculiar to Skoda ) have implemented their system. The message: "failure to start background services" just shouldn't be appearing. And don't get me started re: the message which says that for safety reasons, you can't start the update whilst driving... FOR SAFETY REASONS !!!! If you pressed OK and the system did it's thing in the background then we wouldn't have to read their message whilst driving. It reminds me driving thru to Glasgow on the M80, and there was a message on the roadside electronic board near Stepps, which was effectively saying "Keep your eyes on the road" ! FFS, who comes up with this logic?
