  1. I'd suspect it's a control unit issue. Best to eliminate the cheap and easy first though. As you've got VCDS - Jack the wheels up one at a time, give them a spin by hand and watch the live data from the wheel sensors, you should get a nice square wave that varies frequency with the wheel speed.
  2. The OEM air quality sensors are made by Amphenol SGX Sensortech. The make a few different sensors that detect different gasses but the AZ65A seems to be the one most suited for air quality sensing in vehicles. They can be purchased from Mouser or Farnell for around £30+VAT which is significantly lower than the OEM labelled sensors...I wonder if they're a straight replacement? I've already replaced mine, but if it goes again...I'll probably give this a punt. SGX - SGX Sensortech Sensor

Ahhh, thank you Lee and AG!
  4. Did the new battery get programmed to the car? On the Mk III Fabia there is a button on the dash. You can also use some OBD2 software to turn it off permanently like OBDeleven. Thanks. AG Falco
  5. Hi guys it been awhile, I received the replacement con rod just before Christmas and proceed to fit it Christmas Eve while I was off and nobody else was around 🤷🏼‍♂️. I then as what is becoming the norm got ill for Xmas day but over the last couple of days I’ve managed to get into the garage again. So over the last 2 days I’ve managed to get it all back together with only 2 issues, the thermostat housing has a stripped thread and the distributor has a rounded off fixing. This evening I started the car for the first time and it started sweeeet. There are a few issues to address but overall I’m well pleased! HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳

  7. I googled to be sure: Part number 3V0035411J is a genuine Skoda/Volkswagen Group bass loudspeaker(woofer) used across several current vehicle models. Product Specifications Part Type: Bass Loudspeaker / Woofer. Driver Type: Midrange/Bass. Impedance: 4 Ω. Weight: Approximately 0.66 kg to 1.08 kg depending on packaging. Placement: Suitable for both front and rear door installations. Vehicle Compatibility This speaker is specifically designed for vehicles equipped with upgraded audio packages, such as the Canton Sound System. It is compatible with: Skoda Superb MK3 (3V): Models from 2015 through 2024. Skoda Karoq (ND/NU7): Models from 2018 onwards. Skoda Kamiq (NW): Models from 2019 onwards. Skoda Scala (NW): Models from 2019 onwards. Seat Ateca (5FP): Models from 2016 onwards. Key Differences from 3V0035411K While both parts are woofers for similar vehicle platforms: 3V0035411J is often listed as the standard bass speaker for a wider range of models including the Kamiq and Scala. 3V0035411K (mentioned previously) is more specifically associated with the high-performance Canton setups in the Superb and Karoq. The "J" version may be interchangeable with the "A" version (3V0035411A) in some catalogs. I think that K is Canton and J is standard. J is updated version of A. As an aside L looks to be rear door so that’s irrelevant. I’m putting my money on J if yours is non-Canton.

Err give it a good tug !! (the ashtray) hopefully the previous owner didn't glue it in.
  12. VCDS scan & save output Clear codes Drive/skid/brake test VCDS scan, which should show which bits are erroring. BTW it is of course possible that the fault lies in the wiring or leds on the dash, but I don't believe VCDS will flag that up.
  13. PM sent. Thanks. AG Falco
  14. We have all been there. Not knowing what the best options are. Buying a replacement car will not necessarily mean trouble free motoring. Although a smaller car may be more sensible for your needs. Keeping your Octavia may be the cheapest option , also you know what needs doing now and the history of the past couple of years. personally I've tended to change every four years but these Octavia 's have been so good, I'm going to keep it for a long time. No matter what the costs are. so it's a really personal choice for you. All pros & cons.🤔. Good luck.
  15. Well done and thanks for reporting back. Sod's Law about being ill on Xmas Day. I've no idea about this part but generally be careful of who/where you order from but even good parts suppliers stock crap, p1ss-poor parts as regardless of the trusted parts manufacturers' label on the box or bag the part could be from the same actual manufacturer source. When you get the new part thoroughly inspect it for quality and fit, before fitting it and don't throw away the existing part until after many successful months of use of the new part in case you have to swap the old part back on the car. The chaps here will know about specific new parts quality. Good luck.

  20. Could be a worn clutch release bearing although I would have thought it would be there all the time. Might be worth getting oil level in Gbox checked if its possible on your Gear box. Alasdair
  21. Thanks Nigel for all your help and advice. Thanks also to AG Falco. If you could let me have a link to the PDF file I'd be very grateul. Steve
  22. Problem solved !!! New wheel bearing with abs installed took off the stands started it up drove 4 yards and steering light off abs remained took topdon with me and abs off and diagnostic is reading steering angle sensor and abs sensors so now Christmas is over the dash decorations are off to 😆 Leopold72 try checking the alternator regulator wires as I had this code and replaced the reg and it didappeard
  23. Logic suggests that a correlation error is not a fault with either sensor (which would have dedicated and specific fault codes) but a strong hint that the belt has not been fitted correctly, and the engine is mis-timed. Maybe the garage has used incorrect locking tools?
  24. It's not, it's same as in Favorit. It just have some simple analog circuitry (that could be made by Tesla in 80's, so nothing overcomplicated for 1998) to slow down the needle when the fuel sloshes around. The inaccuracies were same as on older Skoda's - usually caused by increased resistance on any of the connection between the float and needle. Byltw, by the time of Felicia, VW already had fully digital instrument clusters. Meanwhile, Felicia still had mechanical speedometer in 2001. I also pointed out several times that Felicia is basically a facelifted Favorit. Most of the car was built in the same way as the Favorit and the few VW sytems like ABS or ECU weren't as integrated into electrical and mechanical systems as they were on newer cars. First Skoda build on VW platform was MK1 Octavia, which is not discussed on this subforum, so there's no need to mention VW. The last sentence applies to this as well. At this point, I don't even feel exaggerating. I've just seen too many kicks into VW in Felicia topics and this one was entirely unnecessary. It's made by VDO Instruments Adršpach Česká republika. Many "German branded" components for Felicia were actually made in Czech Republic. Usually by companies that got bought by larger foreign companies. But really, nothing above has anything to do with increased fuel consumption... Maybe the only thing worth checking would be fuel tank venting, that could cause issues with filling, but I doubt it could cause high consumption. That could be lambda probe (or exhaust leak around it), vacuum leak, or fuel pressure issues, as mentioned above.
  25. No loss really as there are so many choices. The VW Group issue is the brands and so much choice and models sold still not fit for purpose with snagging faults even though 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation plus face lift models. Faulty software, DSG,s that fail prematurely, still coolant / sensor issues, even door seals, sunroof seals not sorted out after decades of poor design or manufacturing. Vorsprung Durch Technik should not be s foreign language to a partly German owned corporation. Now VW Group are even turning out EV,s with faults as they are with PHEV,s. It was time they concentrate on reliability as well as quality and value.
  26. Check that when the clutch was replaced they fitted a new slave cylinder. I generally fit a new one as if it goes then its back to square one re clutch. Just wondering if the seals are failing and its not operating clutch fully. (same can happen with master when they allow fluid past seals. You could also try double declutch ie in 1st clutch down then into neutral then clutch up then clutch down and into 2nd. May have to blip throttle. If the gears drop into place then it may be 1st/2nd syncro going in Gbox.
  27. There are two distinct issues and they occur on many VAG models with this design of filler flap latch and acutator. One is the latch sticking in the filler flap, since it has to rotate through an angle to latch and unlatch. This can be mitigated with silicone spray or graphite lubricant, which will need repeat treatment whenever it washes away. The other issue is actuator failure, which needs a replacement solenoid. It's a really crummy design with two flaws, and it has gone un-fixed for at least 10 years, as it occurs on a family Leon from 2014 as well as a 2023 Karoq. Typical VAG to keep on pushing out a cheap failing part for more than a decade.
  28. I have a second stalk for ACC. This is MY20 vRS Challenge, DSG
  29. you can disconnect the siren, or better uncoding the alarm via vcds (also the low loudness is due probably to an old siren battery), however the first thing I would suggest to try is to switch off the volumetric system using the switch on thr b pillar, and see if it keep doing it.
  30. I don't want to burn rubber, I just want it to be ready to go at a junction to take advantage of gaps in traffic
