  1. Just be aware, claying the car is damaging to the paint - it pulls out contaminants that chemicals don't remove, but it will introduce marring/swirlmarks into the paint. Polishing gets rid of these but you are limited with hand polishing, and many hand polishing products like SRP (Autoglym Super Resin Polish) does abrade some clearcoat, but it also has fillers and gloss enhancers that give a look of polished paint without the actual result. You'll only get a perfect look with a machine and proper polishing compound that removes the damaged layer; but its about not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. Go with what you want whilst being informed. Waxes are a protective layer - their primary objective is to reduce UV damage and chemical attack from birdbombs, waterspot etching, sap/bug-guts and road chemicals. There are better protection products out there (Ceramics coatings being the ultimate chemical if not going down the PPF route) but Fusso is generally thought to be pretty much the best - just a bit of a pain to work with than others.
  2. I think the clay bar and polishing afterwards has made the most difference. Was lucky last month with one day of sunshine and got to work haha
  3. I have just coated mine in Fusso 12 month Wax, have to say it’s pretty good so far. I did the whole, wash, iron fall out, clay bar and polish before applying the wax. Doing detailing on the side it’s worth the money over a ceramic but time will tell

Evening all. Quick update. My bonnet is now open, a very cold, difficult 2 hours, will not bore you all, but if it happens to you, please message me. Dont go under the car or through the wheel arch, impossible. Just wanted to say, there is a junction box, little thin black plastic box attached to the underside of the cover/tray opposite the airbox, held on by two silver clips. The two bonnet cables meet there, one from the release lever, the other from the latch, the latter pops out under stress from a clogged latch or the plastic pops open, combination of both over time. Please zip tie it shut the next time you are under the bonnet! Cannot stress this enough. And clean and grease your latch. Also grease the cable before you zip tie it. Huge design fault by VW., a zip tie would have saved me hours of grief and stress. Looks like below, from a Golf I think. Ours is on the passenger side. Any advice, please ask. Graham.
  5. Hi, I've made this 'How to' for my ex Superb Estate Mk3 TDI190 4x4: I haven't replaced the Haldex oil on my Kodiaq Mk1 yet. But I assume many things may be common. I suggest going to your local dealer and ask for a quotation to the spare parts guy. It will confirm you whether the P/N are the same or not.
  6. @Tech1e Sorry to hop onto an old thread. Are you still providing parts and installing cc? I maybe interested ;)
  7. A wee update, I drained my gear oil......2 litres dropped out and it was pretty dark not like the new stuff. I filled it through the reverse light switch because @BrandonW put the fear in me removing the black plastic plug !! I put back in maybe a wee bit more than the 2.3 litres specified . 1st impressions after a 25 mile drive.....2nd gear selection maybe better.
  8. Just noticed my nearside headlight is cracked too. Trying to find other people with the same problem before I report to the skoda dealer
  9. PM me VIN and I will check details
  10. There are many feeds on this in Briskoda. Have a look in the Audio and Security section. In summary, it will require an upgrade to your USB socket and an updated MIB system. You are probably on an MIB1 system. Depending on the model, you could easily upgrade the headunit and screen. Speak to our resident guy @pab567 for further assistane.
  11. Version 0468 was VERY buggy with Android Auto. Get yourself to 0480T first, and try again. Standard USB A to C cable should be fine.
  12. I would change cam sensor first and see if the MAF sensor calms down before replacing both. Alasdair
  13. @SteveTheElder Thanks for that, appreciate your time 👏 Now I’ve got the app working, it actually lists all the paid functions and what they do. Care Connect is only £36 and there’s a 3 month free trial anyway. I just can’t understand why I was disabling things I didn’t have to begin with…
  14. It only works on Android auto with google maps. Doesnt work on carplay with iphone unfortunately.
  15. It's the same one that's used for the Skoda nav, 'Route guidance'. It also overlays the next turn info from Google Maps over the Skoda map on the VC.
  16. I'll say the same thing as I always do - research on IDA and PVD websites for someone near you; at least there is an amount of training/validation given there is a variety of skills/abilities in an unregulated industry. PVD (Professional Detailers and Valeters) requires detailers to: Get the majority of their income from Detailing Have been in business at least 12 months sufficient insurance for PL insurance (including vehicle under charge) Pass an entry test to prove capability. I was IDA (International Detailing Association) certified and validated which needs to be done by an IDA-trainer. Not quite so stringent on some of the business aspects. But this sort of training gives people the understanding of what they're doing and why etc. It sets a standard baseline.
  17. I suspect the solution will be for Skoda to investigate what they're trying to push and why it's not applying and stop it from their side. I've sent an e-mail to [email protected] with both sets of screenshots. Maybe if they start getting a few e-mails like this they will realise it's a widespread issue.
  18. Easier to measure from controller side. There pins G1-4 on module, measure each one to ground. If infinite or more then ~10 Ohm - replace glow plug
  19. Renault have cleverly kept the key features as buttons and maybe that is one of the reasons why their sales have actually gone up whilst most European car producers have gone down plus their prices look comparable to the Chinese and Korean manufacturers.
  20. I'm on 1985 and it's doing it.
  21. I was told the same by my dealer that the module is a 4G LTE component and therefore not affected by the 2G/3G network shutdown. It seems a case of Skoda sending a communication to people not actively affected by it, and therefore causing confusion.
  22. Do you get the impression that the UK government really have much of a clue what they want to achieve here?
  23. My bad, i thougth was like mine, one piece in left-right and one in the middle. For the Van shows this https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/etka/skoda/fel/101/867300/ with the centre piece only 6U9863485
  24. I could fix your windows with a repair to the circuitboard of driver's side front motor module. Location of Portugal makes it trickier though. Message me if you want to figure something out.
  25. It shows the left, but the list below shows PN for the right one under (10). On my car, the bottom trim was one piece, spanning over the entire width. This one seems to be from VanPlus, which didn't have the boot trim, so it's just latch cover.
  26. I put cc2 on an EV and might have lost .1 mile per kWh, but it’s hard to tell. That would be a 3% loss, but that was from super slippery EV tyres, to got some grip in the cold all seasons. You can’t have everything and I used to run summer/winter. For the UK a good AS means you don’t have to buy and store wheels. Not as efficient as EV tyres, not as good on compacted snow/ice as full winters but a good compromise in much of the UK. That’s the cc2 too, so I imagine they’ll have improved again for the cc3
  27. You ain't seen nothing yet. Those being long enough with the car remember famous SW 1896, which was prompting an OTA update and, if installed, it sent infotainment in reboot loop with no cure, other than reinstalling SW itself.
  28. I wonder if this is an update that requires the infotainment to be at a 'minimum' version that is higher than 1941. @Edela Is your infotainment still on 1941? I'm going to raise it with Skoda and see what they say. I imagine it'll be the same "take it to your dealer" and the dealer will say that software is not covered under warranty. However, this is different because now Skoda are actively pushing something every day and that is not ok.
  29. And I thought it was only mine. It seems even the bug fix update is bugged 😂
  30. Yes was referring to breather valve. Glad it is all sorted now as sounds like the old parts were gummed up.
  31. Your welcome.........glad my post is still fixing boot rattles.
  32. I have sent you a message on here with the info required
  33. Fingers crossed they can sort it out.

Be sure to do a back up before you try anything. Follow instructions carefully. If unsure, ask. And don't use one click apps, well I don't anyway, as they leave no traceable path of anything they change. These things don't perform miracles, but they do unlock features in your car that, although should be unlocked as standard, aren't.
  35. One of my DCC Monroe shocks started weeping oil at 28k. Took it as an opportunity to replace everything for a Bilstein coilover setup and should last for years now.
  36. I'm on 2460 and have same issue. Contacted with Skoda and they advised me to go to dealer which will receive "instructions" from the factory what they should do. My appointment is in 2 weeks..
