  1. When I bought "New" cars I had to wait for them to be built. I never bought one from a storage yard. All those "In Stock" should have a discount.
  2. 31% Market share in December 2024, 32.2% in December 2025 Is that 'much higher'? Not really for me.
  3. Picked up the car after getting all four wheels refurbished. After 10 years the phoenix anthracite alloys were showing the usual diamond cut issues, particularly around the hubs so I had them powder coated in silver instead. Ignore the wheel caps - I'm swapping those for new ones tomorrow.

And my 18 reg SE L sailed through, with no advisories. Next week it’s the turn of Mrs B’s Nissan, and then the 3-wheeler in early March. Here’s hoping for similar results for these…
  5. They were initially (2015-2018 ish) called "Phoenix".....later becoming "Trinity".
  6. Not everyone lives in Cities, and not everyone pays for Taxis, Private hire cars or UBER, and there is no guarantee that a TAXI without a driver will be any cheaper to use than one with a driver. Those investing in the vehicles are not going to hire them out without them being profitable.
  7. @lol-lol They are going out of the Business or changing the planned business model. The First Registering and the Partnering to get the Figures to save being penalised has caught up now with the kidology. As to Private EV Owners / Drivers home charging. Show us where they are doing higher mileages than when they had an ICE vehicle. Actually show us they do not also have an ICE vehicle.
  8. EVs market share actually went down in January 2026 compared to January 2025, not exactly encouraging data even if it is early in the year. Considering that market share last year was also 4.6% adrift of the ZEV mandate I struggle to see them getting back on track this year. The boss of Centrica/British Gas was in the news this week saying that electricity will be more expensive in 2030 than during the early days of the Ukraine war so it wouldn't surprise me if that will cause a lot of people to think twice before investing. Whilst I have just over another 2 years with the Born I'm far from sure I'll go for an EV next time - will have to see how things are at the time. The economics only just stacked up this time and I could easily see them going the other way next time.
  9. Given all the BS I was fed by Skoda when I bought mine & the PDI wasn't shown, I have zero confidence in its accuracy. I bought a generic service log book from Ebay & will get that stamped. But then I'm unlikely to use a stealer for any servicing anyway.
  10. UK lighting standards legislation has fallen far behind the technology as it still uses wattage as the criterion to describe the power of a bulb - hence the OP mentioning 35w fitted as standard. That will refer to a "conventional" tungsten filament bulb which was all that was available when the law was written; superseded by halogen bulbs in the 1970's or thereabouts. Now we have HID and LED bulbs that use a lot less current to generate prodigious amounts of light so a 35w LED would produce enough lumens for a searchlight.... That's why the gubbinsment is now belatedly talking about "reviewing the situation" - just like Fagin.....
  11. Here in GR (back in those years were the radio/cassette was optional) the electrician was asking you: ''do you want the radio Off the switch or On?" which means ''do you want to turn-on the radio itself or after you turn the switch in 1st scale?" The benefit was that you could hear music when the car was off (waiting in a parking lot, siting with your girlfriend in the sunset etc) but the drawback was that it was pulling current straight from the battery and some guys forgot it open all night and the next morning the battery was low and couldn't start the car.
  12. hey whipper, you would think so but it doesnt. have to setup auto hold guys thanks for your help on this one, i managed to find the auto hold function in the setup - no thanks to the dealer and skoda!
  13. Clean MOT with a grand total of 3103 miles since last test 😬
  14. Couple from a very soggy Attenborough Nature reserve earlier. We were lucky enough to spot what we think is a Kestrel?
  15. I used this tool to as an aid to decide which All Season Tyres to purchase for our Fabia and Karoq. It allows you to choose up to 4 tyres and compares each tyres ratings in specific areas, I wanted a an All Season that suited the weather in central and southern England where we no longer get snow but we do get a lot of rain. Compare Tyres Direct Tyre Comparisons - Tyre Reviews And Ratings For my Karoq I choose the Turanza 6 over the Cross Climate because the wet ratings were better and it was cheaper than the Continental and it had a better rim protection buffer. On the Fabia Continentals were fitted because it had the better wet weather ratings, the Turanza wasn't available for the Faboia size.

After a screw penetrated the sidewall of the OSF tyre rendering it beyond repair, I fitted a pair of Bridgestone Turanza 6 All Season tyres. Research conducted previously suggested the Turanzas would be a better all rounder than the Cross Climates that I’d had 3 sets of on my previous car. I intend to buy another pair for the rear when they need replacing later in the year. Comparison of Cross Climates, Turanza 6 and Continental All Season tyres. The screw that caused the problem.8 The rim protector buffer on the Turanza 6, not the best angle to show it. Early days yet, don’t seem any noisier than the Duellers (which I still have on the rear), steering feel is fine, haven’t really tested the grip - I’m not expecting them to spin on tarmac as the I never got the Duellers to spin either. They have a good rim protection buffer, as shown in the photo, which is important with 19” rims.
  17. So the bouncy ride is no more B6 shocks and all new associated parts fitted today, has changed the feel of the car and I am over the moon with it. Feels so much improved with a more planted ride and the floaty feel gone. No more bouncing after going over a speed bump, I ensured I went over loads on the way home
  18. Been looking at doing the same to the Trinity wheels on mine and wondered what they’d look like in full powder coat, great timing so a big thumbs up. You have the same spec and colour as my 280 estate and I think they look great. My thoughts were to go with a darker silver/grey or bronze but silver looks really bright and suits the colour
  19. The user 'ixtra' has once again shared information about current maps in German forums! MIB2 HIGH - P450 https://updateportalmaps.blob.core.windows.net/maps/HIGH2_P450_EU_202625.zip

    Hello everyone.
  21. I don't see where or how you arrive at that deduction, in the main EV's are cheaper if you can always do your charging at home and you have one of those special tariffs, otherwise, if using public chargers to make the return journey, it is doubtful if the costs are any better. They are certainly not the case if you own the car and plan to replace it in 3 years time, as depreciation is so much bigger with EVs. Again, I cannot see that happening; unless all the dealers are bonkers, they will of course be only too aware that the 2026 target for EVs is even bigger than it was for 2025, so if they register cars in December 2025, then they have just made the target in 2026 so much bigger and even harder to hit, given that they never hit it 2025. Are you aware of the huge number of new EV's from that sector of the market you claim are returned to the dealers with long lists of faults that the dealers cannot rectify due to the parts stock not being available and difficulty in even communicating with the cars due poor quality control of the cars and software bugs etc. There are cases of some cars developing faults and throwing errors up on their dashboards before the owners have even left the dealers' forecourts? Some of these cars at the dealers have been there awaiting repairs long than they have been with the owners, so much for far Eastern manufacturers.
  22. Yes but the same thing applied the previous year. I.e a December rush followed by a January slump.
  23. Western manufacturers, perhaps with the exception of Dacia-Renault, appear to be chopping and changing, firstly appearing they were going big in to EVs and then realising they were not financial competing and losing out in the race for the EV segment and then mostly giving up. Cost them tens of billions in inefficient and loss making EV production. VW with its very poor EV software for example. I don't know which households have a mixture of EVs and ICE, be interesting to see what that split is, household like us now with 3 EV and no ICE, next door just got a BYD Surf, no hope charging, other next door now got a wall box charger but not an EV but presumably changing one of the ICE for an EV fairly soon. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/366358/evs-are-officially-covering-more-miles-ice-cars#:~:text=That%20means%2C%20on%20average%2C%20EV,than%201.8%20million%20transactions%20annually.
  24. Just remember to measure oil temp when you control measure the level. Meaning: Fill up dsg box with approx 6 ltrs. Start engine, circle through gears, 10 sec each gear until oil temp is at 35-40 degrees if I remeber correct. Disconnect hose and watch when level is set correct. It is correct when oil is not constant flow, but as soon as it starts to pump out in "waves" if you understand 🙂 Immediately plug drain plug when that happens.
  25. First registrations are just smoke and mirrors as the SMMT know well enough as do the Government, DVLA / DfT, Secretary or Stare for Transport etc etc. The real statistic that the HMRC & Treasury must know is. The wholesaling and retailing figures for DERV & Petrol at Filling Stations. Not including to Depots for Goods Vehicles or Farms / Building & Industrial sites. Comparisons for 1995, 2005, 2015 & 2025.
  26. Whoa there, hold your horses. There are many things that affect people in many different ways. There were a couple of whistleblowers about their findings of the air quality on the London Underground, with readings many times worse than were found standing in the middle of the most congested roads in London. This was also backed up by scientific studies and reports carried by hospitals and doctors, which proved the air there was directly responsible for the men's chronic breathing and general health problems. You say that this one man's tests are conclusive when it was possibly a means to an end? I suggest that more people are exposed to poor air on the tubes then there are being exposed to the road traffic fumes on a daily basis, and those on the underground are alo more likely to be exposed for longer periods to those using the roads in the fashion that James Gallagher did for his "experiment" The SMMT figures do not show actual true sales, i.e., cars that have been sold and are being used on the roads, they only show cars that have theoretically been sold, when in reality many of these have been registered and then within days or weeks, declared as SORN and placed into storage. These cars are NOT contributing to the clean air that I keep hearing so much about are they? In fact there is an argument to be made that they are adding to overall pollution levels as they have had to be made and shipped all around the world and then become stored and later sold as used cars with delivery miles on them. The DVLA are aware of the number of new car registrations, they are also know what their drivetrains are, ie, petrol, diesel, HEV (predominantly petrol), PHEV, again petrol) and BEV. They will also be aware of how many of each type are also subsequently declared as SORN and their drivetrain types, as well as dates that they were first registered and when they were SORN and therefore can also tell how long that period was, how long the car has been with each new registered owner and also tell you who these keepers are, traders or private people. But they are not willing to provide such information, why do you think that might be??
  27. Hi, welcome. You have not put you have a (2019?) Kodiaq so if you have not already seen it there is a 'Škoda Kodiaq' section on this site, with a sub-section for the Mk1, where you can find lots of information and help from Kodiaq owners and others. Good luck. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/340-%C5%A1koda-kodiaq/
  28. Yes, you can do that. Will take a bit more time, but doable yes.
  29. The dealer I uses gives me a print off of the service history with each service, and that noted the brake fluid change at the second service. I think it's a print of from one of the VW/Skoda systems, it's not a dealer thing. However it doesn't know that the car's first service, at 16mths old, was a longlife one - it just records it as an oil change service so looks like the car was serviced 4 months late. The dealer I bought it off did the first service and they insist it was the longlife one, with pollen filter change.
  30. Fingers crossed it solves it!
  31. @Rory Have look this video for the current SEL & Sportline Edition spec. Virtual Cockpit is covered from 4:30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzE3AULUosQ
  32. Not on mine it is a single dial but some are twin dial. See https://youtu.be/v2X_zQsqnX0?si=EejwawFmO0hBydre
  33. As standard, all models come with a software rev limiter when the car is stationary. Somewhere around 3000 rpm.
  34. Absolutely correct. Heat is less of a consideration, but obviously higher intensity bulbs will operate hotter. It's less of a concern here in Blighty/ Northern Europe
  35. You are right, nta16, a new battery shouldn't be necessary in a car less than three years old and still within warranty. Getting any concessions out of a main dealership (Johnson's Skoda) would be nothing but trouble and unlikely to succeed. In 2002 I tried to get some work done on our new and low mileage Peugeot 307 which was then "car of the year", at a dealership not in the Johnson's group. The short story is that most things aren't covered under warranty. Main dealers can shelter behind the fair wear and tear excuse while sympathetically pointing to the small print. Most contributors to the forum threads I've posted on don't even own a Fabia 4. The present offerings are not directly comparable to earlier models. Skoda have continually stuffed in more and more energy consuming drive assist and safety features which also add unwelcome high levels of complication. To the point: I have made progress on the AGM battery upgrade so will let you all know how it goes. It is not going to be cheap. I fully charged up the battery yesterday to reduce the likelihood of any extra glitches before the scheduled transplant takes place.
  36. Thanks for all your suggestions folks, really appreciated
  37. Factory wiring in Felicia is always active. Some owners modified it to ignition power. Newer Škodas turn on power after the ignition is turned on, but keep it active until you pull the key. But Felicia doesn't have ignition barrel output for that.
  38. The Trent was in full flow! PXL_20260211_151343869~3.mp4
  39. I've got CBZA. You're right this filter looks like the one that linked, but the numbers are incorrect.
  40. For the last 100 metres of the journey I will gently apply the handbrake, when it is wet. Also I have found that going forward first works better, after parking. So if you park on a drive or in a parking bay, always back in. Thanks. AG Falco
  41. Check as well that the handbrake cable is releasing properly. Mine used to freeze up in winter as it had water ingress/corosion and rear brakes would stick on. Alasdair
  42. As you say "use them" Simply apply the brakes with pressure as you approach your final destination in the last say 1/2 mile
  43. If your talking about the one press up/down the windows may require resetting after battery change. Hold down button and continue to hold once windows are fully down for 5-10secs and then up and when closed continue to hold for 5-10sec. Do it on each window. As for the cig socket my sons is live all the time. Not sure if its normal or someone has changed wiring. Plug something in with a light or check with multimeter with ignition off and key out. Also check the battery charge warning light is on at ignition and off when car running. Alasdair
  44. MOT test passed with advisories today. One for the CV joint boot being in a bad way, and the other for a tyre that's due to be replaced. Plan is to farm out the CV boot job to my mate, as I can't be bothered. The tyres are an easier (?) fix, seeing as my alloy wheels are currently away to get refurbished anyway. I presented the car for test with the free steel wheels on anyways. Hoping 2026 will be a decent year for this wee car. Loads of bits to source yet.
  45. Thanks mate, lot of help🙏 cheers! 👍🏼
  46. How do you mean now on second one? Was your car replaced? I have also strange brake on my mild hybrid and have to apologize to passengers as if i dont know how to brake.
  47. Is your car a mild hybrid 1.5? I'm currently on my second. The first one had a very odd brake feel and was difficult/impossible to bring to a halt smoothly. The second is fine. Brakes just as you'd expect so they dont 'all' do it.
  48. This is why it would be really helpful if everyone with the same problem could post a photo here. Keep us informed of any updates
  49. Wouldn't be surprised if it is the fuel pump. I had two in my 2017 Yeti, fortunately both were under warranty. Other thing to check is, when was the fuel filter last changed? Easy job to do & not expensive. Get a Bosch one off ebay. .
