Hello and thanks for letting me join the ranks of this Skoda Owners page. I live in Northern Ireland and have owned my 2017 Kodiaq 5 seat 2.0 diesel 4X4 with manual transmission for almost 3 years. My lifetime hobby has been my love of Classic cars and currently have 3 Jaguars ranging from 1950 to 1966. Never had an issue with my Kodiaq until now hence seeking guidance.

How many EV chargers or hubs are near these routes / diversions? Get an unexpected 100 mile or more diversion in Scotland or maybe other parts of the UK because of road closures be it in adverse weather or just accidents and you really can be stuck, and be in areas without Radio / Mobile phone reception and poor GPS / Sat Nav or car screens / apps that are hopeless. People used to these types of regions may know what to expect, visitors / tourists can be really in a panic.

i was under the impression that Lane Assist "pulls you back" into your lane if you unintentionally drift out of your lane, so if you intend to cross into another lane and indicate before starting to move into the next lane it will allow you to complete the manovure

Ignoring the higher (60hz) frequency, achieving the same wattage at effectively 50% lower voltage requires a substantial increase in amperage - poor connections, understandable when you consider the type of connectors they use, significantly raises the risk.

Sounds like head has gone or egr cooler/oil cooler. Definitly reject car ASAP. From what you have said re courtesy car an the fact that you think yours has been used I wouldn't be dealing with them at all. Years ago folks were given a courtesy car with no MOT and 4 bald tyres 2 down to canvas. I phoned garage and told them to recover courtesy car and get them another. They made up the usual apologetic excuses. Have never dealt with them again. It was also a main dealer!! which changed ownership fairly quickly afterwards. Alasdair

DC is deadly; it is far worse than AC, which passes through the zero point each cycle/hertz, which does make it easier to disconnect yourself from the live power. DC does not and will make you grip the connection so that you cannot break it. This is part of the issue with electric vehicles, and you can see the high degree of danger with DC traction batteries with voltages sitting around 400V and most of the newer and performance models somewhere around 800V by watching the YT channel OGS & Mechanics and observing the PPE that they wear while working on them. DC is also extremely difficult to control, requiring special equipment to switch circuits on and off, as breaking the connection can draw a pretty hefty arc and so the switchgear costs considerably more.

LEAF Mk 2 is / was a C segment car, unlike the Zoe which was B segment. The two versions 39 and 60 kwh versions. I tried to order / buy the 60 kwh but it was in short supply, long order delay. 60 kwh version has / had a 240 mile WLTP range and a buffer of around 10 miles below 0% Went for the 52 kwh Zoe and did not regret it despite it only being B segment size. Zoe has done well over 400 miles in hyper miling exercise.

Get your dealer to give a breakdown of item versus labour. Mine was £440 + vat labour and £710 + vat towbar and kit

Maybe failing crank sensor. Seems odd that two/three plugs or coil packs have failed at same time although I have read that failing plugs can take out coil packs . If the gap is to large then the coil packs have to work harder and can burn out. Hopefully new plugs will cure it and once its plugged into diagnostic maybe clear any historical fault codes and then run engine and scan again. Alasdair

"and the winner is" ... NascarMike's toothbrush suggestion. 👏 It's a 'soft cleaning' toothbrush with very gentle bristles, picked up for about £1 from my local supermarket. Warming the handle with a hairdryer or heat gun is enough to soften the plastic so that it can be bent around to the right shape. I needed to make left- and right-hand versions because there is not enough room to reach across behind the spokes from just one side... Just keep them away from your teeth after use I also picked up a 'turkey baster' to suck most of the water out of the gutter after rinsing the wheels. It's much more efficient that using microfibre towels alone.

Had mine August 2024 , seem to remember around 12 or 13 hundred pounds.

I think I have a spare one of those kicking around, so I may have to do that on the upcoming road trip if I can't find a better suggestion. Thanks!

Check out other posts about after market towbars in this forum. You have saved yourself a lot of grief by going down the Skoda route. I had the Skoda bar fitted from new and agree with you it is a quality piece of kit. The total integration with my Superb systems justifies the price increase. I have had 2 Wittner bars fitted to previous, non Skoda cars and they come in around £800.

The recovery guy didn’t give me the DTC’s but he said there were a lot of things flagging up, just to say we have never had any engine issues whatsoever before, only the heater fan issue that I resolved earlier in the year cheers Paul

Hi Warrior193, apologies yes cylinder 1, the plugs all look intact, the plugs in cylinder 2 and 3 were wet, my neighbour is a mobile mechanic he is ordering the plugs first thing in the morning and he said he’ll plug it in when we get back from a family members funeral tomorrow afternoon, we’ve hired a car for the day tomorrow 🙄 cheers Paul

Just had the electric Skoda towbar fitted for £1372 and tested it over the weekend. I have to admit that it is a very good design and quality construction. I like the integrated electric socket in the body of the towbar too. Faultless operation. However I'm still miffed at paying double the third party option

When I first drove the Kamiq on the test drive I didn't realise it had the lane assist on. Joining a dual carriageway on a slip road it was pulling me back in to the ever deminishing left side of the slip road. I've never used it again apart from when I forgot one time. A canal with a very narrow road alongside, go fast enough along that road and the lane assist kicks in, seems to be dragging you closer to the canal. I'm sure it's good for some, me no likey, I don't need it either, much like stop/start it gets cancelled as a first button press, 2nd is lane assist. I wish I could nullify the SOS system too, that kicks in occasionally.

If you have biocide then wont do any harm. Have had dreaded diesel bug in my tractor cause it sits for a while without being used. Now use biocide as standard. As mentioned in previous post change filter after a tank or two. Alasdair

Now, back to the main thrust of this topic, electric cars. I see people commenting on how good the Chinese electric cars are, knowing personally just how poor some Chinese products can be after spending most of my working life in the electrical industry (I had a few years lorry driving across the UK). I see no reason to change my suspicions that things are not quite what they seem to be. I have seen content from independent motoring journalists and vloggers alike who refuse to attend Chinese car launches and other such events because they are not free to say what they want, regardless of if it is positive or negative; they are controlled events. I like Johny Smith and the Late Brake Show, but he did one of these, and the video of it is here. It has since been mentioned on both the JayEmm on Cars channel and also the Geoff Buys Cars channel; here Jay addresses the problem head-on and fully explains just why he flatly refuses to get involved in such events unless he is free to give his honest opinion about the cars. Geoff also refuses to take part in any such staged events as he wants to present his honest opinions.

You probably know this @kokosal , but the inner and outer pads are different, and can rattle if an outer pad is fitted in the inner/piston side. The retaining clips are different. I've marked on your image (you don't say which pad was from where) which are inners and which are outers. Check that you have correct outer pads on both sides, that should guarantee that there isn't a positioning mistake. Here's an image of mine showing the difference in clips:

All the fork pins were cleaned when the board was re soldered. I will check their angle and give them a pinch on my next dismantling! Mananged to find a replacement motor to try for £20 too, just waiting on the postage!

(I know I posted a link from confused.com ....... regarding new for 2025 car safety rules ......... so partly because of that, I mention this very unusual situation). And genuinely I have a (cropped) 19 second video saved on my smartphone I wish I knew how to put on here to show proof....... Whilst driving to work this morning I'm approaching the brow of a hill (Green Lane, Ruddington, Notts) and the road bends to the left immediately at the top. There was a jogger on the pavement on the other side of the road, running towards where I was coming from. I estimate he was 25 to 30 yards away. I think you can guess where I'm going with this .......... My radar picked up on the fact that there was a person in the line of sight and flashed up a big red 💃 on the dash, with an audible warning, and the system kindly applied the brakes for me. You can clearly hear the warning on the video ......... oh, and me saying wtf, Lol. Luckily (I guess) as the person was out of the line of sight within a second or so, the brakes were only lightly applied this time. Anyone following would likely have wondered what the hell I was applying my brakes for, as obviously the brake lights would have come on also. Oh, the wonders of modern technology eh! Indeed, this is a relatively new EU requirement, and new cars have a camera in the rearview mirror to monitor the driver's attention.

I think it is not the result of the higher currents as much it's caused by bad connections giving rise to heating of the connections and subsequent fires. Maybe also due to incorrect sizing of the cables in some cases?

US has 120v throughout the house usually and 240v in the basement and garage for heavier duty appliances. Maybe Musk, as was Mr Tesla, DC Is more efficient than AC and as more and more generation is becoming DC then passing into AC and then back to DC is a huge waste of power.

My Superb is now 7 months old. Initially I had this issue. Washed the screen (outside) 6/7 times over 10 minutes, cleaned the blades with the same cleaner a few times - issue has never reoccured. Bosch Blades are better, I have a set waiting for the day there are needed

I'm going to go with battery on this one. Too often it's the battery, and for no direct simple reason.

I went ahead and checked the wiring to the ecu plugs and I never even noticed the very difficult to read cavity numbers engraved on the side of the plugs. After checking the wiring and pin numbers against the plug side pinout sheet I had been using it turns out I had wired them differently to what they should be with the majority of the connections being made on the black half of the plug instead of the white side. After correcting that cruise control is now working lovely along with the correct bits being flipped when checking the counter using block 066 in vcds. Thanks so much guys

Very tricky to see the terminal numbers on the engine ecu plugs, wouldn’t be surprised if one wasn’t correct

There's an old farmer round here has one, the car is more rust than metal, and the private plate on it's probably worth about £20k 🤣

@chrisski battery will need coding in , in order for the car to charge it properly. My original battery (AGM) on my TDI was 9years old when it gave up, I have VCDs so swap was easy and battery cost £165 from Halfords for a nice new Yuasa.

Yeah, I like that about the new Superb myself. Not often my infotainment has played up thankfully (touch wood) but it's still a faff on having your climate controls buried in there. Always gets me how they changed the law in the UK to ban using hand held devices whilst driving, rightfully so, but simultaneously made all of the controls for your vehicle part of your touchscreen infotainment system! Crazy

No, it is absolutely worth doing. To cut a long story short, I currently only run a TCU tune on my car and, honestly, it's absolutely fine. I must get up to Ecotune sometime soon... Where the wool may be pulled over your eyes is for the supporting mods. For a simple remap, there is no hardware required. Many people will do an air intake and whatever else, but the truth is - there's no point. The only restrictive part of the intake (not at Stage 1) is the elbow, and that can be sorted for £100. I have an R600, but anyway. Ditto with the brakes - the stock system works very well up to 400bhp. You can't increase stopping power with 340mm discs on 225mm tyres.

No 21. 6U0121038 for non-ac 6U0121051F for AC Each is paired to a different pipe no 27, AC version wraps around the oil filter to clear the accessory holder. No 29 appears to be heater matrix output hose, that returns to the #27 pipe from the rear.

I have an Enyaq 60, using aircon in my experience reduces range 10-15% and is shown in the estimate range prediction. Turn a/c on and off to see. I too only need to charge publicly if i go to Devon in my use case. I live in south lancs my son lives in Staffordshire. If I charge to 90% at home i can get there and back whatever the season. When I go to the Caravan I stop once south of Gloucester to charge and get comfortably get to Totnes with around 25% left leaving home around the 90% and recharging whilst having lunch. I never use B, i don't like it, I find in D the graphic for power used goes green when pressing the accelerator and does nothing when i take my foot off so the car coasts. on a motorway I set cruise (notacc) to 65 then drive at 67 but releasing the pedal results in regen, it's subtle but i find it works. It also regens downhill with CC set for any speed limit, I use it most of the time. Fuel saving tactics is the same as ice, acceleration and braking costs money so keep a decent gap and anticipate so any actually braking is regen. The main difference I find from my Diesel is the more efficiency is now around town and worse on the motorway where as the diesel was best on the motorway. If you use aircon set it to a comfortable rather than A hot or cold setting and leave it alone
