  1. Err... Ditto an EV... If you run the battery completely flat that can cause long term damage to it through chemical stress etc. Fortunately both systems have warning signs to avoid this... Limp mode for an EV and warning lights and bongs for ICE.
  2. They were just a glamour couple doing a little vid for clicks and money. That will be the last i click on to them. Like the dude said, he spent more than £5 for a coffee.(& bought rather expensive petrol @£2.00 a litre.) That is very much the thing. Some people know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. I bought 2 X 200 grams of Tesco De-cafe yesterday with my Club Card Personal prices for £4.90 and got 55 pence discount. I reckon that is about enough for the next 3,000 miles worth of when i am filling a flask.
  3. They should do it again starting at a Gridserve or Applegreen charger

So been on hear for years but haven't posted in ages. Had a MK1 Octavia 1.8 petrol that did a sterling job of protecting my wife and baby when involved in a crash on the M25 that involved going up the embankment. Had a few Honda Accords and an S-Max before getting a MK3 Octavia 2 litre diesel. Finally took the plunge and bought an 18 plate 280 Superb estate sportline, for more passenger and boot space, as I'm 6'5" have a 15 and 17 year old who aren't short, my wife and the dog. So anyway bought the car 1 week ago, ran if for a week or so locally and have just driven it 500 miles from the Peak District to the west coast of Scotland for a total of 9 hours of driving. Observations are that there is loads more space than the Octy, ACC is awesome, and I'm glad I got the 280 rather than a 190 diesel. Made overtaking on the A9 easy. MPG on the trip up was 32, so not too bad. Ride is way more comfortable than the Octavia, but does wallow a bit over undulations so thinking Bilstein B6s or Koni active shock upgrade at some point. After the journey me and my wife both commented that we were way less fatigued than if we'd have taken the Octavia. So far, so happy.
  5. Doing this will only be a first look at the system especially while it is running under load, you should be able to check for typical running (high side) pressure for the fridge gas in your system, online - ambient temperature dependent.
  6. ^^^ Social Divide. Yes pay with the right Tariff. Home Charge fill up for £5. But if paying 65 pence a kWh Public charging gives you 7.7 kWh or just less. times 5 miles a kWh is 38.5 miles with the BEV. 75 pence a kWh is 33 miles from 6.6 kWh getting 5 miles a kWh. Coming soon to a BEV you might be driving an ADDITIONAL 3 pence a mile charge. (7.7 kWh getting 4 miles a kWh is only about 31 miles for £5.) That is real world BEV driving for many many people once the Cheap Battery fill has gone, if you ever had the very cheap charge up in the first place. PAY PER MILE. £5 for 31 miles then the additional 3 pence X 31 miles 93 pence. £5.93. Petrol at 163 pence a litre.. 3 litres for £5. 10 miles a litre =30 miles.
  7. Coming in hot!
  8. You might investigate a charger in a garage / handy shed or mounted on a post by your drive before giving up on home charging.
  9. I’ve installed that one too, along with the VWR600 intake, oil filter housing, and DSG filter housing. Apart from that, a few carbon fiber parts as well.
  10. A brief visit to a sunflower maze today.
  11. I've just bought a 2026/7 Skoda sd card from E-Bay, everything works fine now.
  12. Hi, My daughter has lived and worked in the french alps for a few winters and throwing chains on takes her less than 5 minutes in thick snow - they had competitions as you do..... She has had the chains on for a week at a time when there was still thick snow in steep terrain. Driving a Superb I have seen threads where people have fitted snow chains to 18" and 19" tyres. You always hope that you do not need them, but I still "practice" to fit mine and sometimes the roads are not cleared as quick as you hope when there is more than 24 hours worth of snow fall. They just cannot clear all the roads at the same time.
  13. Not so breaking news. Someone who can charge a BEV @ 6.5 pence a kWh can go the same distance as someone paying 65 pence a kWh and for a 10th of the cost. Just have access to a property with a charger and cheap tariff electricity and you are onto a sure fire winner as far as the economics.
  14. I used to have a dog that would lock the back doors, when they had a button to push down
  15. Indeed but only for those with home chargers and the right tariff. Those public charger costs you mentioned would have evened thing up and possibly even swung the answer the other way.
  16. No surprise there given ait was effectively a rigged test using cheap overnight charging compared to full cost liquid fuel. And ONLY achievable in that scenario.
  17. Understanding Safelock Most users on Briskoda agree that the notification simply reminds you that the car is fully deadlocked. When safelock is active, interior door handles are disabled so no one can open the doors from inside. Do not leave pets or people inside the car when safelock is turned on. How to Control Safelock Full Lock (Safekey active): Press the lock button on your key fob once. Disable Safelock: Press the lock button on your key fob twice quickly if you need people or pets to be able to open the doors from the inside. (If you have a pet that is able to open the door from the inside then please share).

Snap. My 2016 280 L&K estate is at 76k & is also developing a few funny noises over rough surfaces, mainly from the back. I can't pin down where it's coming from yet but, like you, I suspect a few suspension items / bushes may need replacing soon. It's still on the original DCC shocks & springs although the springs have been advisories on the last 2 MOT's for corrosion. Best I get on a run is 36mpg & 26mpg for local stuff. Revo stage 1 software for 360bhp has not altered the mpg & I run it on 99RON all the time. I still love the car & it's probably time to give it bit more love & a decent detail valet & paint protection.
  19. What's the increase in BHP with the new dipstick? 😉
  20. Hi Folks Got a MY23 Octavia RS, which I'm thinking about a change to an Elroq, but am concerned about range in the winter, charging times etc. Is it worth specifying a heat pump if possible? Would it be worth having a monthly charging account to get reduced charging fees? Because home charging may not be possible as I have a grade II* listed building as a house, so attachment of the charger is very unlikely to be allowed, so public charging will be the norm. What packs would you recommend adding to the car, I'm considering a 85 model for the range, possibly a Sportline or Edition Thanks
  21. Guys Today I fitted my dashcam from my previous car to the Karoq. My car has a rain sensor, so I decided to power it using a FitDvr adapter. This piggybacks into the wiring to the sensor and gives switched power, so no parking mode. Dongar also do a fitment for our cars, but were out of stock at the time. I took my time, ensuring proper connection and no damage to mirror shroud. It was dead easy. One thing to note is that the power doesn't switch off until 30s or so after you lock car and comes on when you open the door. For a video, watch FitDvr on YouTube for fitting to an Audi. Hope this helps someone.
  22. Just sliding in here since i am now the owner of a Skoda Superb. Looking to share and gain knowledge regarding my car. Hopefully find the rare gems/guru’s and enthusiasts who know the ins and outs of this car. Decided to purchase this car since i drive a lot, haul a lot of stuff for my boat and also stow and transport my kitesurfing gear. Have a good day, Pete
  23. I literally had one of my alloys cleaned and rim sealed due to air loss by the rim on Saturday morning. 2013 alloys on a mk2 octavia
  24. Make & Model: Skoda Superb Mk3 2L petrol 4x4 DSG 280ps Laurin Klement Mileage: 88300 Price: £12 995 negotiable Location: St Albans, Herdforshire Condition: Used Very good in and out. Slight dent on passenger rear arch Wheels could use a bit of love, but otherwise look good. Service history: Last dealer service at 79k miles, which included a DSG service. Previous service allegedly at 69k miles, which, according to the previous owner, also included a Haldex service. New types & recently replaced front dampers. Next service due very soon. Collection: Yes Pictures:
  25. My octavia is held together with cable ties as the screws and clips they go into rusted away. I drilled some small holes in tray and where it joins other plastic. I just snip them off if I have to remove it and replace. In fact all my cars ended up like that at some point. Never given me any bother, Alasdair
  26. Oh tell me about it 😣 maybe little by little I get them all replaced but yeah they surely aren't cheap 😭
  27. @JR RS can confirm but I believe he said the ballasts can be swapped around for testing
  28. I like - along with the oil filler and washer fluid filler cap etc. but then I see the price and am sad
  29. Yes I thought that initially, the first time I never mention service, just asked for the price of BFC, they quoted the £100, the second call I said I need to book 2nd service and the price was £69.19, then 3rd call to check my booking this week it went back up to £100.....who knows what they are playing at plucking figures from the sky comes to mind.
  30. Thanks, just about to order Febi steel control arms and the ball joints. Looking at the Febi parts catalogue, they also list the Blue Print ball joint parts, so I assume they manufacture them as well.
  31. 'Keep it simple stupid.' Or if you have to implement compulsory features do the R&D and have stuff fit for purpose. VW might for VW or Audi, and not for Skoda or SEAT.
  32. I tend to use suggested presets in Lightroom to process my images most of which tend to be over processed. Spent a bit of time on the train shot hopefully being a bit more restrained. I’ve also posted the original shot as a comparison. I underexposed the original shot to avoid burning out the sky, then pulling back the detail and shadows when processing. Hope this gives an insight to those interested. I couldn’t resist “tidying up the clouds too. 🤣
  33. Did the same few years ago, no errors and the camera still works.
  34. As it turns out - yes. Pulled the pump - bottom and top halves not attached (and no sign of the spring either) and the key transfer pipes were disconnected. So someone had been in there before. Sorted that and all my issues seem to have been resolved 🤞
  35. Could it be the ABS?
  36. Cairus, Thanks - that's an entirely new rabbit hole for me! Avocet, Thanks for the very detailed answer, and I understand the complications. In summary, and this is subtly different (and I may have been less clear with the original question): If I can switch it off, and it stays switched off (unless I choose to switch it back on), then that's actually what matters to me. A 10 year old Octavia has some of this stuff - drowsiness alert for example - that was one of the first things I got rid of: it was uselessly inaccurate! The brake warning system (just a warning), despite the occasional false alarms, I judged to have more merit (it's possible to be temporarily distracted by something at just the wrong moment on a very busy road). But in each case it should be the driver's decision. On the older car, that is the case. What I can't tolerate is the idiocy of being forced to configure settings individually from scratch every time I get into the car. Could I (broadly) assume that both the Kodiaq and the Karoq prior to the facelifts (ie, Kodiaq Mk1, and Karoq up to 2022 or whatever the date was) are probably fine on both counts (remembering settings and SFD 2)? Or - to ask my question above differently (re the settings): Have people here using the Mk1 Kodiaq had problems themselves - or heard of problems - wrt user settings no longer being remembered? If not, then that presumably answers that question, at least here wrt the Kodiaq? The Certificate of Conformity - thanks again. Two elements here, a) what I initially narrow any search to, which is the above, and then b) DD once I see something I like. That Certificate looks like b) , ie something prior to buying. Along with physically checking... Ie, change some "driver aid" settings, switch off - come back and switch back on... Just now reading your reply to Lee01 - that's the crux of my question. Which versions have user settings that are remembered, and which more modern versions have now failed that test....
  37. I can't fully answer this for GB cars, because it's really complicated. First of all, we had (in the EU), "General Safety Regulation 2", which incorporated a whole load of driver aids, some of them more helpful than others! Things like Advanced Emergency Braking systems for solid objects and other vehicles - that feature that randomly jabs the brakes when you least suspect it. From the 7th of July this year, all new vehicles first registered in the EU, need to have that system, but augmented to be able to detect pedestrians and cyclists. There are other features like Lane Keep Assist (mandatory from 2022) and Emergency Lane Keep Assist, and Intelligent Speed Assist, Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning, Event Data Recorders...etc. I can get a complete list and the implementation dates if you want... There are two complications though. 1. Vehicles manufactured before the deadline but not registered before the deadline can, at the discretion of the EU Member State it is being registered in, apply for an "end-of-series derogation". This would give them an extra 12 months after the deadline to register those cars. That makes it really difficult to know which cars are likely to have which of those features, if only judging by the registration date. 2. The UK left the EU, (except Northern Ireland, in effect), so none of these measures are mandatory in GB yet. However, it is not illegal to fit them, and a lot of manufacturers can't be bothered making a different spec of car for GB alone, so they fit them anyway! The GB government does intend to align with the EU regulations and bring this in shortly, but hasn't done so yet. If you can get to see a Certificate of Conformity for any vehicle that you're interested in, Field 54 contains a load of acronyms and abbreviations of what driver aids that particular car is fitted with.
  38. That's usually the low pressure fuel pump priming the fuel system.
  39. Not been in here for a while... hit the magjc number last month. This is a 2016 CJXA 280. Just been to la rochelle in france and back, averaged 36 on the Autoroutes, cruise set to 132km/h. 4 up and lots of luggage. It used about half a litre of oil on the way down. It seems to use about a litre between services so around 6000 miles of town tootling and odd m-way trips as the uni- home taxi service. So 10 years nealry and 100k miles and still on original dsg shocks and springs, but getting slight rattles from the front on the awful roads we have so thinking about what bits might need replacing soon. Assuming the big lower wishbone with the big bushing, any other likely bits to do while we're in there? (All standard spec)
  40. Recently upgraded to newer iPhone with USB-C connection rather than lightning. So today’s task was routing a new 90degree USB-C cable from the rear ashtray through to the armrest cubby to replace the lightning one. I pulled the old one out with some wire attached and used it to pull the new one through. All done and dusted in 5 mins. Hopefully get a chance to change front brakes and have a go at installing the aftermarket blind spot kit this week.
  41. Probably as you said not put back on securely which would explain the whistle noise. Glad you got it fixed. Alasdair
  42. Skoda includes the Direct TPMS instructions in the manual because they build heavy-duty fleet versions and armoured/high-security variants of the Superb that do require live pressure sensors. However, for standard UK/European consumer models, Skoda only installs the Indirect ABS-based TPMS If your car actually had the system shown in the manual, it would require physical wireless sensor valves inside each wheel. If you have standard rubber or standard metal valves and the car forces you to manually hit 'SET' in the menu, your car has the standard indirect system and will never show the numbers My Skoda has the similar screens for tyre pressure as yours.
  43. Racing Line dipstick arrived today and replaced the old ****ty one 😎 oil cooler housing next💪🏻
  44. Loving the way these pics went together on my phone: Unexpected footwear for a pheasant!
  45. As you are probably aware 'Unbranded' SD cards will not work with the MIB2. When you had the problem with the original card, did you try ejecting and re-inserting it in the slot?
  46. That fault sounds to me like an issue with the SD port - is the updated SD card you tried a branded Skoda one?
  47. Started getting a loud noise at high revs recently, sounds like a resonating heat shield . Had a poke around under the bonnet and found that the engine cover wasn't fully clipped down. Sorting this out seems to have cured it 😀 Also tightened a loose bolt on my motorcycle which I hope fixes a noise on that too, a good day!
  48. Hi! Any news in this topic? Maybe someone found how to check it?
