  1. I retain the gearing of Drive, but throttle response of Sport. VCDS: - 44 module (steering assist) Security access: 19249 Adaptations Select channel: 'Driving profile switchover' Change from 'Incremental: controlled over time' to 'Direct: controlled over threshold value' Note, I tried the "Audi mod" but that didn't make a blind bit of difference. However, ^^^ is way better.

  4. +1 Thanks @g_tee, I'm going to try this. I like the throttle response in Sport mode, but I don't like the tall gearing, hence I flick the transmission to Manual. If this code change brings the same Sport mode throttle response to the Drive mode, without the tall gears, then this is brilliant!! Will make the code changes tonight n see. 🙂

  9. Hi all, I have recently bought a Skoda Octavia 1.0 TSI estate/wagon 2017 - pre-facelift, at first I was turned off by the 1.0 TSI on paper and it getting mixed reviews from motoring journalists and people on forums - however after a 30 min test drive, it fulfilled my needs. We just got a beautiful little daughter and need more space. My question is, are there others considering the same car who would like me to write a review on this? If so, please let me know and I will try to write a review. I am not a motor-head by any means, but as my job requires extensive travel I have probably driven more than 100 different rental cars so I have acquires some feel for cars. Attaching some pictures of my Octavia 1.0TSI. I am also considering installing the pedal box, anyone tried?

  10. My vRS came with a space saver spare, which in my opinion is infinitely preferable to goop and a compressor, however I secured a full size 18” Gemini alloy from eBay and fitted a standard size 225/40 x 18 tyre, which fits in the boot, albeit by raising the boot floor a couple of mm. As for the polystyrene insert, rather than butchering the standard one, again eBay came to the rescue with one from a breakers, complete with tools. Over the past three years, I have suffered three punctures and every time have been thankful that a few minutes changing a wheel, has saved the inconvenience of waiting for the recovery services to attend and my journey has continued without travelling at reduced speed. Whilst I recognise that weight reduction is allegedly the reason for not fitting a spare wheel, along with the quest to fit ever larger rims to even the most mundane of vehicles, with nowhere to store them, to me a spare wheel is a necessity.

My mother, bless her, is pushing 80 - and last practised as a nurse probably about 35 years ago - has decided that she might be called up by the government as a 'recently retired health worker' to help deal with the crisis. Didn't have the heart to ask "are you serious?" 'cos I genuinely wasn't sure whether she was just fooling around or not...

  13. Hi Colin, welcome to the forum The spec here would indicate the SE L still has the MFSW and the car should still have the separate ACC stalk, on the LH side below the main light/indicator stalk (unless there's a spec change that I'm completely unaware of) https://www.skoda.co.uk/new-cars/superb/hatch-se-l You can nudge the ACC stalk up/down which increases/reduces speed in 5mph increments. Pushing it forward disables ACC and pulling back engages ACC. Pushing the stalk forward till it 'locks' turns the system off. There's no buttons on the MFSW to control ACC. Pulling the stalk towards you will set ACC at the speed you're doing when you pull the stalk or you can nudge the whole stalk up/down in advance of pulling the stalk and that will give you the chance to pre-set the ACC speed (5mph increments) It might be worth getting this post on the Superb III board as you're more likely to get some info from a member with the same model year/spec. (I've flagged the post so the mods will hopefully move it to the S3 board) Apologies in advance if I've got my info wrong. I'm basing it on my own S3 and the linked spec sheet.

  14. I just did. Collected my Citigo e iV last Friday. Candy White with black ceiling and black rear view mirrors. Has driven it approx. 95 miles and is very happy with it so far. Here's a small list of my impressions so far. Pros: Feel- and are much faster than the old Citigo we have. (except for top speed though) Extremely easy to drive in all situations. Very quiet. Spacious in the front seat. Don't feel like a small car when you drive it. Relatively good range, even in winter. The drive home from the car dealer was 42 miles and it took exactly 1/4 "tank". Electric heated front window. Rain sensor. (The old Citigon didn't even have adjustable interval mode) Cruise control. ACC. (Only AC in old Citigo) Relatively good full- and dipped beam. (Halogen though) Double floor in the luggage compartment. You can get a completely flat floor when folding the back seat. Cons: "Lane assist" instead of auto brake. Would much rather have had auto brake. Apps that work poorly. Skoda connect is available but works so so. "move and fun" does not yet exist but will come this week. Remains to be seen. Compact rear seat. But it's probably no worse than others on the market of the same size and no worse than our old Citigo. No interior lighting in the rear seat. No lighting in the boot. What I miss most: Electric heated steering wheel would have been nice to have.

  15. hi, I just picked up my "used" Karoq on Friday (1.5 TSI SEL DSG) and I mentioned this to the salesman. He said he'd never heard of it before. I told him that I was not going to part with over £20K unless it is sorted. He went into a panic and talked to the service department. They confirmed that the issue did affect my engine and apparently they applied the "new ECU update" (that was only released 2 weeks ago) during the pre-sales checks. Obviously being a DSG and having never driven the car previously there is no way for me to know if the update made any difference but it is driving fine 🙂 . No way for me to prove that the fix was applied I am guessing and no paperwork was supplied to show it had been done either. Talking it on trust that it was done. Just came from an old Tiguan 2.0Tdi 4motion Auto (over 10 years old) and the only issue I have is that the gearchange is so bloody smooth in the Karoq I never know what gear I'm in. It is also a bit lively off a standing start so I am learning to feather the throttle a bit on launch. The old Tig was literally point it and floor it 4wd (haldex) with old style auto box) and it was so sloppy it never span a wheel in its life. The gearbox in it was horrible when taking off as the haldex introduced what can only be described as a phantom gear while it went from 50:50 to 80:20 while moving off in 2nd. So glad to be rid of that. the Karoq is 2wd. I will miss being able to plug it around on wet muddy grass though. I can see myself getting stuck otherwise. I am ordering a tow rope to go in the boot just in case 🙂 Loving the Karoq! I feel so sorry for people having this issue though. My old Tig had a horrid set of issues from new and I just learned to adapt and live with it for 10 years. I cannot count the number of times it went in due to loss of RPM at idle when in the warm up phase. If i was at 4000 rpm and took my foot off the accelerator the revs would drop to 900rpm. It did this until he engine had warmed up. My theory is that it was part of the "defeat" software for the emissions scandal. I never did get the I took videos to show the service dept and "it is a normal characteristic" was the response. I feel for you all!!

  17. Funnily enough last time I had to wait in the car I watched Sky on the iPad with the case flipped over the steering wheel to hold it up. The TV Tuner doesn’t do on-demand 😂 I was at the vets, our 10yr old cockapoo is having chemo at the mo and it’s an hour away from home so I dropped him off, went for lunch and a walk with my frenchie and then came back to wait in the car... he wanted his bro back lol

  19. Way better - not having to almost push the thing down to the floor to get the car to move quickly. There is more response with less input to the throttle pedal, and there is definitely linear input to it. If that describes it better. Imagine driving in S but without redlining every gear - that's it Right now I only have "Direct: controlled" and no Audi mod at all. I'm still dubious that Audi mod does anything? However, still costs me nothing to try it with Audi mode too. When I get a chance I'll code that back in and report back.

More recent map updates are only on SD. Only the newer MIB style headunits can be updated via the website. This does not apply to the older RNS-310 which the OP has fitted.

  24. I'm on my 2nd Citigop SE-L, & would have gone for a 3rd. But I AM NOT prepared to shell out £16k+ for a tiny little hybrid (with such a limited range) so I'll either buy (I'm on a PCP) my current car & run that, OR I'll go for a petrol-engine car from another manufacturer, Pity really, as I do find that the Citigo delivers all that I need from a car, but if Mr VAG is getting "green (& greedy) than they've lost what was a loyal customer. It's somewhat ironic, but as small petrol-engine cars reach their optimum, then the EU slaps a kibosh on them & decrees that "everyone" has to go electric. & does anyone ask themselves where this electricity comes from???

  25. I would be inclined to replace them as a pair. Even if the new bulb has the same colour temp as the original, they do change over time, so you may well have a bit of a mismatch.

  26. Arh - now this one I DO know (exact same thing happened in my first Scout) I had an exhaust leak from the top of the exhaust in the engine bay. Not immediately a problem, but you do need to get it fixed, because the exhaust gases will escape into the air-intake for the air-conditioning system and start giving you headaches. Meant to say "exhaust Mannifold" - that is where the gasket leak will be

  29. I did 2 things to the car last weekend, on Saturday: 1. Fitted the new AGM battery (which was on offer at £111 thanks to ebay's 20% off, I bought at £118 when seller had 15% off, Grrrrrr) 2. Unplugged and plugged back in the light/rain sensor So far, from Monday morning "testing" (aka normal commute at dawn), the rain sensor is still working. The auto-dipped beam also appears to work. No error has came up yet. But then, on Friday, when it was raining heavily, during 3 hours drive to my parents, I noticed auto-wiper suddenly started working. So unsure if it's still intermediate and sensor is currently in a good mood, or fiddling with wiring makes it work more reliably, or new battery is helping. I will update the original thread by BATVANVRS after I spend more time driving the car in different conditions and more time for the error to (re)develop.

  30. Sorry to hear that @Noddy90 You have had your fair share of expense by the sound of it, and I would say most of these shouldn't have happened with your mileage. I have also had a few gremlins that has tainted the Superb ownership as folks may have read on here.... failed Haldex pump despite scheduled maintenance, and clutch slave cylinder and new clutch, car has recently turned 55K Oddly enough we have just bought a 2008 for my wife to replace her ageing Focus, seems a very comfortable machine and reasonable value. It has some upmarket features that the Superb doesn't have so it just shows you can get decent bang for your buck! With 2008 ownership I have just logged on to the 2008 Owners Club Forum....not for the sake of being in an 'owners club' but I always find the forums are great for reading up on things to be aware of and problems solved, might see you over there ! I should add that I hope to have the Skoda a while yet so I will still be lurking around here too... Cheers Dave

  33. Mine failed recently, first time it failed a few taps with a wrench solved the problem but now it's proper dead, it "clicks" but that's it, figured it must be tired from almost 14 years of tropical weather and hard water. Just ordered a Meyle 100 955 0010 unit, it's in the mail right now.

  34. Yep, just get a 'PedalBox', though don't pay hundreds and hundreds for it, some are ridiculously overpriced and all do the same thing. Mine is set to the lowest settings: 1 of 5 and that is plenty! I didn't notice a thing when doing the Audi pedal mod.

  36. There have been several occasions in the hybrid era where cars have been excluded from race meetings for even momentarily exceeding the fuel flow limit (Renault most recently I think) but one team appears to have deliberately done it, gained a huge performance advantage from it, and not been punished at all. For me this is at least the equivalent of "Spygate" where McLaren were chucked out of the constructors championship and fined $100 million. Just hoping the Pink Panthers stuff Ferrari in Melbourne. Perez was seen to back out of hot laps repeatedly in sector 3 over the last few weeks. I cant wait to see how quick that car really is.

  38. You mentioned Skoda UK, did you speak to them in an effort to get their thoughts on what the correct grade of oil should be? I'd imagine that if you were able to get Skoda UK to confirm the correct grade, which hopefully matches what is printed on the cars slam panel then you'd be able to get the oil changed for the correct grade for free.

  39. I would normally say the first fix they would have tried would have been to fit the new uprated oil squirter's, The squirters alone come in at £700 before labour so the quote sounds off already however yours is the CTHE and should have the newer squirters, To me you've done the right thing as that cars about 2 melt valve or 2. The other symptoms might not even be oil related its probably just a classic example of someone not looking after the car, The jolting under acceleration was probably the wrong plugs the garage stuck in the car as plugs for these are pretty specific. In 3 months you lost £2700 of value on a car that was most likely sold to you ****ed, Personally I wouldn't have stood for it mate and demanded the money back or a car of the same value.

  40. Whenever I've had my car serviced & they suggest my AC needs re-gassing as it loses gas, my response usually goes along the lines of, "Do you get someone in to re-gas your home refrigerator & freezer every couple of years or so because they lose gas?". That is usually enough to stop them pushing that extra service expense. If they persist I point out that amongst other things, I work with refrigeration systems & they are spouting a load of bull5h*t.

Endless amounts of Upgrade parts. Worth checking out on Youtube. Just one issue. Do you fit comfortably in them. @sharkrider & his good lady had one. Maybe a good source of info on them. @Sittingbull also has one. So 2 current or ex Skoda Fabia MK2 vRS owners.

  43. I gave the car a quick wash Saturday with the intention of trying a couple of new products. Bilt Hamber Auto Foam was one, seems better at removing/loosening dirt than the Valet Pro I was using, I was thinking of getting one of these: https://www.highdefinitiondetail.co.uk/products/nilfisk-c-series-quick-release-short-trigger-gun-with-quick-release-nozzles anyone used one and how did you find it ? And the second was Gyeon Q2M Wetcoat, which I sprayed onto a wet car, pressure washed off, intended to hose of the car and towel dry what was left, but it started raining so I packed everything up and went inside 😛 Considering the lack of effort required (literally mist on wet car, PW off), the shine and beading is very good, no idea how long it will last 🤔 I took these this morning.

  44. As Johnny5ive said depending on the use you will have for it you may be better off finding someone (experienced) local to you (a full list / map of current Briskoda VCDS owners can be found in my signature) to do the coding for you (Johnny5ive is not far from you). VCDS will also not do certain things that Vag Can Pro (VCP) is capable of doing, a couple of such things are: Video In Motion (VIM) - (not legal in the UK), this lets you display the DVD / TV picture whilst driving. Closing of the electric tailgate / hatch from the inside of the car on certain cars (Superb MK3 being one of them) There is a map of VCP owners in my signature also. If you really want your own VCDS interface then there are a few options to you: A full list of the genuine Ross-Tech distributers can be found here do not be tempted to buy a NEW device from anywhere other than an official distributer, especially if it is cheaper as chances are it will be a clone! (eBay and Amazon etc have hundreds of clones on there!) Your options are (the latest Audi A4 will not connect fully to all controllers with Micro-CAN / HEX+CAN interfaces, Ross-Tech believe this may eventually be the case with more newer cars as well as the controllers get more sophisticated) : Micro-CAN ... discontinued but can be bought second hand (be careful with anything secondhand as there are MANY cloned cables out there!) HEX+CAN ... also discontinued so would need to be second hand again (I recently sold mine for not far off what I paid for it) this will do everything the Micro-CAN will do (all CAN cars) and cars like the Fabia, Rapid, Polo etc HEX-V2 ... starting at £225 for 3 VIN (3 cars), 10 VIN for £299 and unlimited VIN for £450 HEX-NET ... starts at £450 for 10 VIN or unlimited VIN for £575 The HEX-V2 is a fixed cable, one end plugs into the cars OBD port the other (USB end) plugs into a device running (full) Windows, a tablet is fine if it runs full Windows. The HEX-NET is a wireless device meaning you can use an iOS device (iPhone or iPad) or any smart phone to connect to it via wifi using the VCDS-Mobile app (personally I am not a fan off the app as it makes coding more difficult due to the nature of all coding being done via a drop down menu system, but it certainly has it’s uses as there is no need to carry a netbooks / laptop / tablet around with you. You do however need an internet connection as the coding is done via 'the cloud' You can also use the HEX-NET interface with the (supplied) cable and use the full VCDS software. All software updates are free for life, if you buy a second hand interface then there is a one off registration charge of $99 (to Ross-Tech) if / when you require any support from them (all new interfaces come with the registration included) Cloned / hacked versions of the software / interfaces are rife, some will work, some will not, they have been know to ‘brick’ controllers (the software is hacked... so what else is ‘included’ in this software?) non can be updated via Ross-Tech, cloned / hacked versions will receive no support on Briskoda either. Final thought: VCDS is not cheap (especially now they have introduced the newer ones and discontinued the Micro-CAN and HEX+CAN) but why would you plug anything cloned into your expensive car... seems a crazy idea to me, a clone can easily cause hundreds of pounds worth of damage to controllers and that is before you may need to recover the car to a dealer / specialist to have the fault diagnosed and then swapped out and re-coded, is it worth the risk?... only you can decide that.
