What bulbs are fitted to the S3 & upgraded bulb recommendations

that design bulbs will provide absolutely wrong beam of light!

I completely agree, I would never fit them!

It was taken from newbie link where they ordered H8 leds. This is what they received:

But I don't think the left bulb is a H8/H11/H16 version, if it was, I'd expect it to look like this:

The design you posted:

Is exactly what I fitted to my FL MK2 Octaiva. However, rather than being a genuine Philips version, it was a cloned Chinese thing that was significantly cheaper :D

@newbie69 also b careful of fog bulbs with "big butts" as they won't fit in the space behind, especially if u have a 272/280 Superb, as it will hit the radiator located there.

I got the Lumileds bulbs in mine - been 2 yrs n still happy with it.

They have an adjustable base so u can ensure optimum throw in line with the fog light reflector shield inside.

Also, ideally u don't want light throwing out of the top of the bulb as it will scatter the fog light beam, and **** off oncoming drivers.

U can see the original one has a "cap".

The LED version I got doesn't have light emitting from the top, just the sides.

Any link of the ones you're using? Googling Lumileds didn't show up the same bulb I'm seeing in your pic.

Finished the boot lights.

Tapped into the wiring from the flashlight. The red one is the switched 12+. The blue one is ground.

Just changed the interior lights on my late 2017 model. Boot, footwell, glovebox and front door warning lights are easy. Swapped them for W5W Philips Ultinon 6000k. No error, simple plug and play.
Overhead lights are also relatively easy to swap, but for these I had to buy W5W Canbus leds as it would not work with the Philips Ultinon.

For boot, footwell, glove box and door warning light I would recommend to buy “flat” style led lights as it lights only one side.
For ceiling lights it is better to buy normal bulb style which produces light in all directions.

I am also going to change the sunshade light (above the small mirror). Those are C5W style.

All in all I am happy with the look. Did not like it before where there were several different shades of yellow-white-ish colour.

It was a bad idea to take the power for the extra boot lights from these wire’s. Got all sorts of weird faults: parking sensors fault, boot not opening etc. So i used these wires to switch a relay and got the power supply from the boot cigarette lighter. This way it works.

Have a superb with Halogen headlights.

I dont think the bulbs in were original when I got the car (all GE), and have just changed the Dipped to Twenty20 Hybrid. They claim to be around 4200k and 50% brighter. Usually a lot of the Xenon "effect" bulbs loose a lot of light output, but these are great in terms of colour output and are brighter than the GE they replace. I havent changed the main beam, as they are also GE but were "whiter" already.

The are sold as Twenty20 Hybrid, but are marked Gerlux Cobalt II Performanz. It seems to be a Autoexpress best buy a number of years ago. They also so a warmer Twenty20 Daylight bulb, that is a rebranded GE Megalight.

Only concern now, is the DRL on the car are very yellow, but the design means you cant get the bulb out (except for wheels off, wheel liner out, cut open lamp, and try to find a suitable cover to plug the hole!). They might need leaving......

Stupid me.. You dont have to pull arch liners or the bumper to get behind the fog lights...

I forgot to upload this video of the replacement fog light LEDs I fitted last month 👍

Not the best video but you get the idea!

Thoughts on Osram d3s night breaker laser, are they the best in terms of range and brightness?

See my post above about  Twenty20 Hybrid. I would stick to them over Osrams night breakers (on my previous car). If you dont mind a "warmer" light look at Twenty20 Daylight. - There is a autoexpress review somewhere rated 1st - and lower cost

Aynone managed to swap the lights on the boot torch for some normal white LEDs, from what i understand the boot torch has LEDs in it, the ones that light up yellow, but they are soldered to the torch, right? Can you buy a replacement torch, newer one that has white LEDs? Thnx!

the Kodiaq comes with the white LED version.  part number is 3T0947417F9B9.

problem is they not cheap.  haven't found any secondhand ones here, or if i do, shipping is killer to Oz.

i want to get them, but i'm not paying those prices just for the sake of having a torch with white boot light.

Whilst I was a little disappointed that my new Karoq didn't come with a torch, I did find the fixed boot light is LED.

That's the biggest annoyance I find living in Australia, the shipping prices are just ridiculous.

I googled the part nm, all I get is pages in Russian, can't find any decent seller, as I don't mind a little bigger price, but can't seem to find any decent store that has one!

How did you change the overheads? The ones on my superb twist out of the front unit. What did you use to replace these?

Has anyone found any foglights bulbs that are closer to the xenon light. I have bought some leds(65000k) but are too white compared with the xenons. Wondering if they are any leds closer to 5000k or other alternative.

I'd be interested in the replies this question generates, because in all my years I've never had a car with front foglights effective enough to be worth switching on in the first place - all they've seemed to do is light up the fog so that I can't see where I'm going! Are you concerned about effectiveness in fog, or just appearance?

@Floriann I´ve replaced the original halogen bulbs by MTEC Superwhite (also halogen ones) Thus, I don’t have any error message on the dashboard and the colour is cooler and really homogeneous with the Xenon lights, without downgrading too much the efficiency in fog conditions.

Here is the link for those I have bought:

@ArisaigDavid Just appearence.

@Bap33 Unfortunatelly not available in UK.

A friend has on his Superb Osram Cool Blue, but they cost 25£ a pair. Quite expensive for some halogen bulbs considering i’ve paid 13£ for leds.

Forgive me if I have missed it but how easy is it to change the main dipped/high beam bi xenon's for something brighter. I have a 2019 l&k hatchback and I find the stock bi xenon lights too yellowish, when you first turn the car on they are nice white shade then turn yellowiwsh as they get warmer would much prefer a brighter and whiter light.
