Quite happy with all of them!

can't agree, bright example when marketing is more important than functionality 😞

Sadly, but it's developed opposite way - for best performance in showroom not for usage in real life 😞
All the light of bulb is dimmed to make brighter letters, while that device firstly has to illuminate the ground

and shadowed must be logo

personally me can't accept that huge performance drop:

For a trunk, i see no need to pay twice, since there are simple t10's in a brackets...

For a shadow line, I have absolutely no necessity to have bright lights under the doors, overall the projected lettering looks more then nice.

Hi All.

Can't belive I need to ask this but I have trawled the interweb, this thread & the site as a whole for videos or explanations but cannot find any additional info about how to remove the rear light cluster from a a 2016 Combi -for replacement bulbs. I've done everything shown in the handbook but my rear light clusters simply do not want to come out after removal of screws etc. Book says that after removing torx screws the tail lamp unit should simply pull out to the rear. Not happening for me. I don't want to force them to much for risk of breaking something or damaging paint by jemmying in the wrong place. No doubt many members who have upgraded their rear lights have done this so any tips / advice on how to pry out the tail lamp assembly would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance....

@Colin170CR Just pull harder... ;) Indeed, these 2 clips firmly maintain the tail lamp assembly. Just pull backward horizontally .

But I give it to you, it's not easy to get a good grip to pull...

Thanks BAP33.

I do hope you had that photo on file & did not go out & mock it up especially for me.

Your right, there is no place to get a good grip to pull on it. Not helped by the fact that I have a badly sprained right thumb at the moment so I can't really get any grip on anything with my right hand.

I may even have to fashion some sort of tourniquet around the screw brackets to help me pull on it evenly & harder with my left hand.

Fingers  crossed!🤞

Rubber gloves will give you slightly more grip if a sliding motion backwards might work?

No worry, I had taken some pictures to write a tutorial for a french Skoda forum, when I switched to LED for reverse and blinkers lights... ;)

Thanks. I'm doing exactly the same. Bulbs arrive tomorrow so I will resume my efforts then.

Thanks Bap33 & NJRJ. The wife's rubber marigolds & bit of brute force & ignorance got the job done. It was still bit of a faff with only one fully functioning hand though. New Phillips LED amber rear indicators (pricy) & reversing lights now fitted. I'm now looking at perhaps LED's for the front fogs / turning lamps - not worried about the lack of performance in fog as we don't get much if it. The whiter light is more useful at night for cornering. I'm also looking for replacement LED bulbs for the tailgate (combi) to avoid the high cost of the Superskoda items - which I was going to buy but I had trouble with their non-secure website at check out. They also do not seem to take Visa cards so I bailed out.

@Colin170CR Great! Happy for you!

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone could provide a guide on how to change the footwell lights (just front). I'm not that good with this sort of stuff but I've decided I have to start somewhere 😀. I'm pretty sure I could get the job done by myself, but I'd rather not risk my clumsy hands breaking something. I already have the OEM footwell lights, which are a pretty ugly yellowish colour. I'd much rather have a crisp white or something blue, like someone posted on this thread.

Where should I begin? Any tools needed? Should I even attempt it? I assumed changing a light cannot be that difficult, I do it in the house all the time 😆.

Thanks in advance.

You just need a flat screw driver. As far as I remember, there is a small slot on the smaller side of the « glass ». Insert your screw driver in this notch to have a lever and to pull the light.

Then remove the complete light. It will be easier to change the bulb.

Thank you! Any idea where I could find the bulb types?

Thank you! I've ordered some, will post some pics after I manage to (hopefully) do things right. Many thanks for the help 😄

You're welcome! ;)

Changed the rear indicator bulbs to Philips X-tremeUltinon LED PY21W as per Gizmo's recommendations the other day. The indicator light is now brighter and does not fade in/out when flashing but for 50EUR maybe I expected a stronger effect?  That's probably down to my own ignorance regarding lighting in general and how much of an upgrade is possible (lol) and not because of the bulbs themselves which seem like a quality item.

On another note, while removing the light units, I noticed a little plastic shim on top of the light unit that came off and on the left light, a bit of that shim got broken too  (I guess while removing? - they look quite fragile)

IMG_20200826_160218.thumb.jpg.12f1542fd4c3590ee562a66b70fb419c.jpg

Are these items critical for the light's positioning? They both seem to have got unglued so I didn't put them back in and the lights fit in position mostly from the two studs from the looks of it. However, on my left light I notice the the bumper below it now sticks out by 1-1.5mm, or maybe it was like that from factory and only now I noticed it? Hmm...

I checked the two studs at the back and they are threaded and can be turned - Are they meant to provide regulation? Because I undid them slightly but when screwing the two Torx screws back, the light is forced into the same position, and there is still that offset between the light's edge and the bumper. The only way I can think of regulating the light's position would be by using a 1mm washer between the screw head and the hole to prevent it from fastening as deep. It's not too obvious but once I saw I keep thinking about it.

Any ideas?

Hi all, upgraded my dipped beams to a OSRAM Nightbreaker laser and I'm well impressed just trying to line up new bulbs to get rid of the yellow look! I've scraped together a rough list of the fitment, any help/additions is appreciated massively!

Dipped and Main beam are both H7 (X2)

Front and Rear Fog Lights are H8 (X2)

Reverse Lights are P21W (X2)

Rear Indicators are PY21W (X2)

Front Indicators are also PY21W???

DRL/Sidelights are a PWY24W? (And a pain to get at)

Are really sure for rear fog lights? H8 may be really too powerful. I would more bet on P21W or PY21W...

I did think it wouldn't fit, but that's what it said on the HalFrauds website!

May be a double ckeck would be safer...

Anyone fitted button lightning on rear map light buttons? Kind a missing only that one thing when thinking about interior lightning... Was the same on MK2 and now as well on MK3... :(

  • 1 month later...

Found a couple of good deals on Amazon Warehouse

Philips Ultinon Amber Intense PY21W for indicators.

Philips Ultinon 6000k P21W for reverse.

Both plug & play in the Superb, no canbus errors and no need for resistors.

Paid £21 for the amber and £17 for the white.

Not sure how these ambers compare to the more expensive Philips Extreme Vision recommended in this thread but they're certainly an improvement on the original halogens.

I’ve changed my estate’s boot lights to these 2 years ago:

https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/32789695507.html?srcSns=sns_More&tid=white_backgroup_101&mb=91VWkdV99R4JNbX&businessType=ProductDetail&businessType=ProductDetail&spreadType=socialShare&platform=AE

the change in light output was huge. But, as my car is a estate, it resulted in better illumination of my rear bumper. I wanted te light to shine into the boot.

Now with the day’s getting darker i wanted more light. So i ordered 2 more lights and went to work.

Now I am waiting to a loom connector and i need to find a place to tap into the existing wiring. Looking at the detachable flashlight..
