On my MY18 L&K, it’s standard spec.

I´have 4 door lights and didn’t make any retrofit.😉

Lucky guy.

U must have a unicorn in ur hands.

As far as I know, the L&K models have the rear door controllers and pins for the door warning lights, but didn't have the actual door lights.

Non-L&K models require the retrofit to tap into the power windows motor and a particular pin for the CANBUS signal to indicate the door is open.

May be we don't fully speak about the same thing (sorry, I'm not a native english speaker, only learnt at school). I may miss something in your explanation.

For rear doors I have a single bulb with a 2-facecap, which is red on its vertical face for backlight and white on its lower face to light the floor. This is how L&K are standard specced (at least in France) on MY18).

But for sure, it's not a proper and separate door light as on outside mirrors lower face.

Do I get you right?

No no, ur English is good and understandable.

We r talking the same thing.

It's more likely I've misunderstood wats fitted from factory on the L&K models in ur market.

It's great u guys have that done already.

Meanwhile, the rest of us have to do it the hard way.

This a link to a discussion we had here many years ago....

OK. Cristal clear now! ;)

I removed the tailgate light to see what light bulb was inside to replace it with white LED.

Inside was ordinary halogen W5W E1 2GL bulb.

So, what bright white LED bulb do you recommend ?

Do I understand correctly that the LED socket must be T10 to replace W5W ?

MartiniB, this is maybe a better solution after all. Tried to find good T10 LED in Estonia - impossible. Only bulbs with 360 degree.

Im concerned about the wiring that whole body comes with. Hard to replace ?

Recently changed yellow bulbs to white LED.

Bought here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003157234648.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.dee71802Br4NIy

Really easy installation and the result is nicely bright.

Is this just for the boot door lights only? Also what’s the deal with the wiring harness supplied, is it car loom plugs into that then the supplied wiring into the lights?

No, it's the same ones for all four foot wells. At least...

Hello! Sorry if it's been mentioned before (reading through 27 pages is quite a lot and I may have missed it :) ). Would the Osram LEDriving PY21W bulbs (for indicators) trigger an error without CANBUS controllers? Their power consumption is a bit lower compared to the Philips X-tremeUltinon LED gen2 (1,3 vs 1,8w).

No, I've used various different bulbs and never had any errors.

Just fitted LED reversing lights. Bought on Ebay from Aux-UK £13.04. Makes a huge difference.

I followed instructions in user manual to change them. Bit of a hassle taking the connector out, which I did with the first one. Looked at it again and decided there was no need. You can remove the bulb in situ.

Has anyone changed xenon for led?

I think a few tried but ran into problems with the back of the bulbs being too long. I think it's easier to get better quality xenon's than go the led route.

+1

i bought LED bulbs, to try, but never ended up fitting them.
the LED bulbs, combined with their heatsink and fan, is usually too long, meaning that u can't place the back cover on.

no back cover means dirt and crap can get inside the headlight unit, which is no good.

and even if it does end up fitting, those LED heatsinks get so so hot, that there is a risk of it melting the back cover, or the surrounding plastic inside.

i'm just sticking to my upgraded Phillips xTremeVision Gen2s xenon bulbs.  they do a good job.

Yesterday I saw that they have released a new version of the Osram Nightbreaker Laser, this time with 220% more power... I think that from what I've seen in terms of value for money, the best option is the Osram Classic.

And the test in which the Osram Classic is the best option, quality price.

I've bought something similar on ali, but unfortunately the red part of the light looks somehow "pinkish".

I've now found the same bulb retrofit set on ali:

Lampe Led d'avertissement de porte de voiture avec pinces à câble, pour passage B6 B7 Golf 5 6 MK6 7 MK7 Tiguan CC 3AD 947 411 | AliExpress

Does the red part of the light really look red (not "pinkish" nor "orangish") on yours?

Feedback much appreciated. TIA
