Amazing modifications and a few of like but a practical question before I do anything and with 88 pages sorry if you have answered but how do you get on with insurance? It must be an enormous list to declare so I assume it needs a specialist provider?

Yes, Brentacre insure it :)

I think I must be copying you because my 2020 Superb SEL is a diesel, has the Virtual Dash (which I'm very pleased with having been sceptical, tells me I'm using 11kw of power cruising on the motorway), Canton sound including the dash speaker and sub in the rear boot compartment but with 12 speakers and 610w it is fantastic, reversing camera (sorry you lost a customer there if I kept the Sportline Plus) but I only have the 8" Amundsen rather than your 9" Columbus and only my driver's seat is electric. Almost forgot it has the electric tailgate like your estate and Black leather seats also which I can't do without now. Realised that having lots of toys in the car reduces the stress levels on my 54 mile daily commute. Keep up the good work and you have more power over our buying habits than perhaps you realise. Subliminal brainwashing I think.

Thought you had a Sportline?

Sold last Saturday. Grown up at last. Happy to get from A to B and get 70mpg now.

Admit it.....We never really grow up but go for what is sensible and that was why I went with the diesel VRS. I would love a fast petrol again as I had my eye on a Passat R 272 AWD estate. But I couldnt justify the increase of fuel costs. I am 41 next month so trying to avoid the mid life crisis and spending money on my car. I might consider a new VRS PHEV in a couple of years as they seem to be a pretty good car. Though I won't be going as far as Sasha has with adding bits. Awesome build 👌  but I'd rather spend what has been invested in modifying in to a higher spec car to begin with.

Glad you are enjoying your new Superb and that was a car I was considering as well. We might be insane and have another child next year so a bigger boot might come in handy. Sleep and having a life is overrated anyway🤣

@SashaGracewhat I want to look at - is the inside of your fusebox - partly because I'm just nosy (because I want to see a car with all of the fuseholders being used) and partly because I imagine that it might be electrically a - little complicated - in there at the moment.  As you have removed the glove compartment so many times, has there been wear and tear on that component too?

I can answer you the question too, because I did a lot of retrofits on my car too and last weekend I use the last free position in my fusebox :D Unfortunately I don't have exact photo of the fusebox.

And about the glove compartment, I needed to remove it a lot of times and it still OK.

@SashaGrace

Hi, I have been following your thread for some time now and mainly thanks to your work I recently bought myself an Octavia 3 combi from 2014 and plan to modify it just a little (had nearly everything i wanted); namely a MIB2/2.5 conversion (currently MIB1 Columbus) and a variable boot floor install.

I could use some help though,

I can't make my MIB1 Columbus (non Canton) produce sound when i tried to enable the virtual surround setting (i am aware that on the MIB1 the toggles don't show up on screen).

I installed some LEDs in my interior and the ones in front are way too bright, those next to the sunroof are great. Do you know where I can find the necessary adjustments for it in OBD eleven? Or do I need to buy other LEDs?

Somewhere in the 89 pages you mentioned that you had problems with your fuel gauge and range after having a virtual cockpit fitted.

I have similar problems after having a virtual cockpit fitted to a Seat Leon Mk3, range is slightly out + fuel gauge drops from 2 bars straight to one red bar

Using VCDS I can see that Controller 17 Byte 2 sets the fuel tank type, and there are 8 choices.

I appreciate you got yours fixed in the end, can you give me any guidance?

Is it a question of having to go through each one?

So where do you actually stand on the insurance then - If the car was 'total loss' do they pay out based on a standard VRS or do they 'pay a little more/premium' based on a list of modifications provided at time of insurance/renewal.  Or is it the case that you provide a list of mods that have been done and thats accepted whereas other insurers wont cover or payout if any mods have been done?

Hi, I am looking at the wireless CarPlay modules from carlinkit but there are very mixed reviews of them. I have looked at the Ali express link and Amazon.  Ali express is only shipping from China  to uk at the moment on 40 80 days delivery . Amazon is 130 with discounts .

do these dongles work the online reviews are very mixed .

The Superb is a nice step up from the Octy.. What did you sell it for if you don't mind me asking?

I’m happy with the figure, I won’t make it public yet, at least not until the new owner collects it.

you've certainly provided us all on this section of the forum with a lot of info, tips and guides on how best to things on our own cars.

Hope you have as much fun on your new car

Thanks, I’ll always be around the Octy section as I’ve loved owning mine.

Congrats on the Superb choice of the new motor. Hope the 2019 diesel is as economical as the 2020 Evo 150PS in my SEL . Got 72mpg on the commute tonight.:)

I’m not too fussed on MPG really, would have preferred a petrol one but the colour is so hard to get, I’ll take a diesel!

Good luck with the Superb, will be following to see all the new mods.  Your Octy mods have been a great help with a few I've done and plan to do.

Wow, just got to the end of this huge thread...I've read it all!

A great project with no stone left un-turned. I'm already several hundred pounds worse off and I'm sure that's just the start :D Thanks for all the time you invested to make this thread such a great resource for us all.

Strangely enough, @SashaGrace has also moved on to the Skoda I intend to get next too; a dragon green sportline. Stunning! I hope you enjoy it.

I'm about to order an OBD11 kit. I'm planning to get the basic one and add a pro licence afterwards, but not sure if I'm better served with a 1st or 2nd generation dongle. The latter is twice the price, but I wonder if it's a better option, long term, should OBD decide to discontinue supporting their original line. What does everyone think?

I would go with the newer one on the basis of assured continued support.

To update you if you made it this far and haven’t seen the Superb thread, the first Superb was no good so I found a much better Facelift one. Thread below :)

I saw! I'm very jealous...dragon green with envy.

I'll join you in the Superb club one day! Enjoy.

My power folding mirrors arrived today and as it goes I was busy this morning but free this afternoon so I made the most of it and got cracking fitting them. Now I should mention in case you don’t know, I live in Wales and it rains about 377 days a year so some of these pictures show some rain falling, but it cleared up later in the day.

The first job in my case is to change the mirror covers over because, as you can clearly see, these ones are red and mine are black. You need to angle the mirror glass over toward the mount (toward the car if you are doing this with mirrors mounted on a car) and insert a flat blade screwdriver about a third of the way down to pry off the release tab. I didn’t think to take a picture of me removing the red ones and there would be no point in me showing you the black ones as you won’t be able to see, so I’ve stolen this image of a white cap so you can see what you need to remove.

The mirrors will then look something like this. You’ll need to do the same on the original mirrors and then reattach the covers you want to keep on the folding mirrors.

Next remove this piece of trim. There is a gap in the trim to insert a pry tool where my finger is in this image.

Once that’s done, you must unplug the wiring for the mirror switch.

Remove the switch from the bottom and then unplug the connector. Once you’ve done that, get a long T27 tool and undo one of the bolts that holds the door card on.

Sasha,   are you added any pins to the connector of mirror switch?

Hi. I need your help. I bought foldable mirrors, mirror knob and dorrs modules. I installed today and I can fold them using the knob, but they dont fold automatically when I lock the car. Well I tried to coding using VCDS but the opcions on my VCDS are not the same that in your post.

I did that:

[26] - Access control 2 - Menuesteuerung Funkspiegelanklappen change to “active”

But I did find that:
