What have you done to your Superb III today?

Yep. My wife's Kona EV is similar. Before setting off,

  1. Cancel out / confirm all the "safe driving notices"
  2. Change user profile if needed
  3. Turn on Auto Hold (can't be set on permanently)
  4. Turn off LKA / LDW
  5. Select D & Move off while pulling on the LH steering wheel paddle to engage full regen level.

What a faff. Certainly could not be used as a getaway car.🚓🚔

That said I don't mind driving it from time to time. Just can't floor it in the wet or damp as the front tyres will light up so easy. Try as I may I cannot spin up the tyres on my Superb 280, even in the wet.

Imagine how it would be if you 500+ HP on tap in an EV on tap, you could perhaps burn out a set of tyres with ease and also a possible reason for the insurance on EV's being much higher than for an ICE vehicle?

How far off the kerb does it leave you?

Generally, I’ve found it’s about 3” or so but it can get fooled if the car behind has parked a foot or so from the kirb.

The Skoda wont allow me to move if the drivers door is opened/ajar.

Try turning off the auto hold brake.
EDIT… Whoops… I now see that’s already been suggested… 🙄

I will try that again tomorrow and report back. Thanks.  Sure Ive tried that already - but maybe not.

Guess you mean the “ auto hold” brake button to the left of the centre console rather than the handbrake?

No, the handbrake button.

Well.  Cracked it thanks for the suggestions - but a bit of a knack to it.
-mistake I had made earlier was trying to turn the handbrake off after the door was open - it stays locked on,  or comes on when the door is opened if autohold is lit.

- need to turn the autohold off  and/ or the handbrake off ( whichever are lit) BEFORE opening the drivers door.

then they stay off when the door is opened and the brakes stay off.

thanks again for the advice.

The newer car must be a bit different - I can turn the handbrake off, without troubling the autohold, with the door open. Still, I'm glad your parking is a bit easier now!

I am sending my Pegasus Anthracites to get curb scratches repaired. Found cheap German Autec Zenits with same offset on a local ad. Not too bad - I am keeping them as a winter tyre set. No excuse for the dirty car though - have been to a couple of development plots that day.

Hardly worth washing a car this time of year. Dirty again in less than one day.

True, but if driving around on wet, dirty salted roads, then a blast from the hosepipe under the wheel arches,  around the suspension, top of springs and brakes might slow the otherwise inevitable corrosion on normally unseen and poorly protected underbody components.

I'd do it more often but can't get motivated. Too old I think.

Decided that while a stage 1 Superb would be very quick and effective, I need to give ICE a more proper send off before confining myself to a microwave on wheels for a daily.

Wow, how weird is that!

I did exactly the same thing in January!

From an L&K 272 (350bhp with a Stage 1) to a Mercedes-AMG C43.

I’d do a contactless foam and rinse every week - we do 2-3 commutes a week, and after every family trip too. We got some warm days now so I am already washing bugs from grill and bumper, while still driving my winter tyres!

Corrected that the day after taking the pic.

Yes, it has the performance exhaust!  Isn’t it just amazing! Great car.

There are not many C43 wagons about full stop, so for us to have the same spec is mad!

Enjoy yours!

Decided it was time to do something about the minuscule shifters on my 280.

Leyo Motorsport. Hoped they would be good but they have far exceeded my expectations. Fit, finish, feel, sound. Highly recommended.

Had it MOT'd, passed with a clean bill of health.  I've been naughty since the last test and today as i've done 3,264miles.  Previous MOT the mileage gap was exactly 3000miles :D

Mine got a wash today ready to attend a funeral tomorrow. The least I can do is to turn up in a relatively clean car - which just happens to be black as well.

True to form though, in less than 1hr, some bird had taken a dump on it initiating a quick bucket hand wash to remove the offending mess. 🐦🔫
