It has taken some time to get around to actually swapping the parts however I have just successfully replaced the once gloss black (but when I got the car already quite scratched) trim pieces to the "carbon" ones. 5E4 853 190 A YI2 -> 5E4 853 190 A 9NL (small piece) 5E4 853 192 C YI2 -> 5E4 853 192 C 9NL (big piece) (old part number -> new part number) As you can see from the above, the A & C are indeed revision numbers, the YI2 and 9NL are represent the finish. YI2 being gloss black, 9NL being the carbon-look finish and there's also JO8 which is the haptic squares grey one. In one of my previous screenshots you will find more options, however I have not seen any of them for sale (I bought the only 9NL I could find in my country at parts traders, and have not seen the gloss black for sale once). They could be available through a Skoda dealer. Removal was quite stressful however also quite doable in the end, I would really recommend being thorough and taking your time if you'd like to do the same. The small strip has two clips while the bigger one had 8 (I think). See the pictures to get an idea, the arrows point to the clips. I used plastic trim removal tools and a cloth to not damage the quite soft plastic below the strips and worked on the bottom along their length to loosen the clips. (DO NOT try to insert the trim piece from the direction of the arrows!!!). Once they go, they'll either click out, at which point I am always scared they'd break, or be half loose. Once the whole piece is loosened, go around and again and try to pull of the piece. Be careful to not bend it too much and be cautious of where you put the trim removal tools to aim besides the tabs. The connectors for the leds are pretty self explanatory. Installation is even more simple, plug in the led connectors and align the trim piece. Push in, check it's attached fully everywhere, job done. I am not a professional, this information can be used as reference however as always at your own risk.

Yes, I mean the Cubictelecom data plan. If that’s a separate account, then that’s good news. I haven’t purchased any other subscriptions with my Škoda ID (at least not yet 😄). Maybe someone can share their experience with the proper way to overwrite the latest version? Or is it possible to downgrade first and then perform the update again?

As far I'm aware none of the car manufacturers advertising TMC as part of navigation system when you add it to your car while placing order, instead they offer free trial of online services which are paid after free trial period.

You mean the Data you buy on Skoda Cubictelecom? It's a separate account from Skoda ID. Delete Skoda ID account would also kill all your paid subscriptions I think. Won't work. The only thing that the already updated system runs is the Post Script of all the install positions when u use the same update 1989 files. But maybe someone else knows more.

Makes me wonder where the camera would draw it's power from?

On a related note, I - among others I suspect - urged the BBC not to stop the Red Button (old CEEFAX teletext ) service, when they announced they were planning to axe it. I find it a good way to browse a well honed precis of the news, while some less absorbing news story is airing. I pointed out that pretty much every TV in the land has the hardware to receive it, only the BBC still uses it, and while I know it doesn't appeal to them as a news service, because they can't actually monitor usage easily, and it doesn't get likes, I pointed out that part of their name and modus operandi is Broadcast. In the case of RDS Traffic, nobody seems to have a duty to supply the service, but there are still a lot of would-be users, thwarted for want of a service that was due to run for another 4 years. That said, as purchasers and users of cars with TMS provided, does someone - car manufacturers, government, have a duty to supply a service that was there when we bought our cars, and which was scheduled to be available unto 2030?

I'm probably going to be the last person in history to attempt this! Unfortunately I'll have no car for about a week, and that's if things go to plan. Garry C said 'we did this on a sunday morning' - this will take me days!! Even if I were to fit the resistors first, I'm pretty sure I couldn't drive with pipes missing and open holes in the manifold, etc. So what's the suggested order of procedure? Remove SAI, N249, N112, then the Evap system.... then fit a catch can? I've been trying to figure out the cost- and sourcing the lengths of hose. I've got issues with lack of boost and oil leaks, and the VCDS report seems to make this project even more worthwhile (secondary air injection valve blocked,evap system malfunction due to leaky gaskets, turbo leaking a bit on input and output). Still don't know if my turbo is shot or if my power loss is due to leaks of air and oil across the system(s).Report also mentioned wastegate and turbo bypass valves being worn /slow to open and close. But the guy didn't reckon the turbo is wrecked, or at least he didn't say that!

Wow, gone at just 60k, that's quite extreme 😬 Good to hear that it's been reliable beside the clutch though :) The previous owner of this vehicle was an older gentleman in his 80's, which was even more of a reason I wanted a guarantee on the clutch. The car is completely rust free (regular lanolin treatment) and the interior has been taken good care of, so I'm hoping the gentleman also took good care of his clutch 🤞 The dealer was also a mechanic and seemed to have a lot of good reviews online, so I'm hopeful that the car has many years of life left in it!

I have now encountered this issue twice. It takes about one minute to load settings each time I start the car. I think the car tries to download user settings online, fails and there's eventually a timeout. When this issue is active, nothing that requires internet works. For example, service campaign or user settings result in endless waiting loop. SOS button remains green, globe icon is white and sharing WiFi from phone doesn't help so I don't think it is a connection issue with OCU module. I asked my dad to try internet connection with his Skoda and it worked so it shouldn't be a big server issue either. Nothing has helped when this issue appears. I have tried resetting the infotainment system and pulling the fuse 19. Both times the issue persisted for just couple hours and then disappears. For example, now I was driving home and suddenly everything started working just fine. I don't really care about online services but it is annoying to wait for radio or Android Auto each time I start the car. I have owned the car for 5 months and the issue has appeared just twice. I hope it doesn't get worse.

I had the same issue with logging into my account, and I also couldn’t activate the vehicle through the app. After driving around for a while, the login eventually started working again on its own. As a last resort, I deleted my account to create a new one. I think that may have caused me to lose the vehicle’s eSIM/data plan. One question: Is it safe to overwrite the current system with the 7z package? I’d rather ask before I accidentally break something.

Hi i am looking for a dashcam for my Kodiaq that will record when the vehicle is stationary, I've done some research and apparently it can be connected to the OBD port to be permanently powered and won't affect the battery, has anyone had any experience of doing this?

Hi guys, I have the same issue with my Octavia last few months. The volume keeps going up, making it difficult to drive. I have updated to 1989; same issue. I have also removed the fuse a few times, but it's always the same symptoms. A few days ago, I deleted the BT connection with my iPhone from the system. Not using Apple Car for 5 days. It is very hot in Belgrade (40c), and the infotainment is working stably. Since then, I have had 0 issues. I will test it for a month to see.....

Hi All Newb here, so apologies if this is in the incorrect place and thanks in advance for any help I have a 2017 Superb 3 with the Columbus Mib2 infotainment system that has never had any updates to firmware and navigation since 2017. I've downloaded the latest Nav update from the Skoda update website. I've tried everything regarding SD card formatting, I've checked the update is correctly downloaded ( approx. 4GB ) and I have taken the files out of the MIB2 folder and copied into the root of a freshly formatted SD card but the update is not recognised when the SD card is put into the card holder in the car. Someone suggested that it maybe something to do with an update license expiring. Would anyone have any suggestions to resolve please? TIA :-)

Few more random bits. Got some wiper blades ages ago as replacements, and was about to fit them: Only to discover I've bought more universal ones, i.e. the ones with a hook, which aren't the right ones for the Skoda! Bit annoyed, as I've replaced them before so should have double checked. £35.99 wasted. I'll put it into the miscellaneous expenses. Welp, decided to crack on with something else: So the washer jets were starting to be a little weird, so decided to muster up and just get genuine ones to replace several attempts at cheaper ones. You can see the part numbers, 3V0 955 987A and 3V0 955 988A, for left and right respectively. They were £21.77 each from lllparts, so £43.54, so a bit of a kick in the proverbials. They look identical, but after some perusing through the workshop manual: They apparently shoot a fan, a straight one vertically, and also some at a 45 degree to the side! I've always wondered what the actual correct adjustment for them were, so there it is, the top vertical spray should go somewhere in the top 20cm of the windscreen! Once fitted, and with the car running, the vertical jet was somewhere above halfway, so had to get to adjusting them. The genuine ones need a T8 torx to do so, and in my case, turned about 100 degrees anti clockwise to get them upwards. That, and a good wipe of the existing wiper blades seems to be ok, so no rush to replace the wiper blades. Another random thing whilst changing oil a week ago: The stupid dipstick decided to have one of its prongs snap and fly away! Not the end of the world really, but decided to source a replacement. Until it turns out there doesn't seem to be many online, and it looks to be £27 new. Maybe I should have driven to a scrapyard and gotten any which would have been sufficient, but decided: To get one of those aftermarket dipstick handles, in this case, Bevinsee? It's the sort of tat I usually don't go for, but given it was £15.59, decided why not. Amusingly, the only Youtube video I've seen about how to actually fit this involved someone using a vice to essentially crush the original plastic handle to get to the metallic dipstick underneath. I don't have a vice, so went overboard: So put the poor thing under the press, donned my safety glasses, and went to it: The handle literally flew off stage left, I don't know where it's gone. Leaving slightly bent metallic remains and the above plastic mess. Just got some pliers to bend it back slightly, and then its inserted into the new dipstick handle. The world's smallest allen key and grub screws are used to tighten the dipstick to the handle, and some o-rings are put in place, and there we are: Hopefully I don't jinx it by mentioning whether it'll come loose or whatever, but it'll do. Next time I order anything from lllparts or skoda-parts I'll consider a replacement dipstick. The heatshields around the exhaust at the rear are really rattling like buggery now, so I'll probably have to find a spare moment to muster how to actually sort that out, given the exhaust will need cutting or separating (which will probably also involve cutting given the rust and what not). I was offered an OTA update (Download 03A8) on my vehicle. At the time, I didn’t have an active eSIM/data connection, so the download stayed at 0 MB. I eventually cancelled it. Since then (over a week ago), the update has never been offered again. After that, I performed a factory reset on the infotainment system, hoping the OTA update would reappear. Since then, the system attempts an installation every time I perform a factory reset, but it always fails with the error ERR_01_028_TP. The original OTA update (03A8) is still no longer detected. Has anyone experienced this issue before or found a solution without having to reflash the unit at the dealer? I also have a few questions: Does anyone know what 03A8 actually is? Is it a firmware update, a navigation update, or something else? Is MU1989 still the latest software version for MIB3, or is there a newer version available? Can I simply reinstall MU1989 in the hope that it will fix these errors? Is MOI3_EU_SK_R9890L MU1989.7z the correct firmware package for my MIB3? Is this the correct procedure for a manual update? Press and hold MENU to enter the service menu. Open Software Update/Version. Start the update from the USB drive. Should the .7z archive be extracted before copying it to the USB drive? Approximately how long does the update take? Is it recommended to connect a battery charger, or is it sufficient to leave the engine running during the update? Thanks for help
