Hi there, need advice/help on the following issue on a Roomster 1.4tdi 2007, rear door lock. The original problem: Rear passenger door would not open from either handle. the actuator wasn’t making a squinty noise when unlocking off the key fob/ internal central locking. With the door locked managed to get enough of the door card off to force the lock open. The solution (i thought anyway) Replace the actuator however , every actuator i’ve bought once fitted would not open the door from either handle, but only after the central locking had been engaged. After a lot of wiggling and pulling the on the latches i managed to get the door open to remove the actuator i’m on the 3rd actuator, which is a brand new main dealer part. Same problem, once fitted you can open and close door but when you central lock it you can’t open the door from either handle. eventually after banging the outside of the door the door half opened and then i used a small angled tool to release the latch. i don’t believe all 3 actuators are faulty especially as the current one is brand new. (the previous second hand ones would not even half release by banging the outside of the door like the new one has. I removed the new actuator, and manually simulated the closing of door. i can open it even after i central lock it (remember it is not mounted onto the door). Does anyone have any experience or advice they can offer? thank you

Had a look inside with a Borescope and took these pictures. Definitely some marking on both the valves and the pistons but nothing on the cylinder walls, bad enough to warrant replacing the valves? Not a small job! Also no sign of the piece of spark plug! Working theory is that it's been smashed up inside the cylinder and blown out the back. Next step is to do a compression test.

Could be wrong and doing a disservice but there are a bunch of dealers who say that can get you a car, take your deposit and only fulfill the order weeks or months later. This might be one of those case as I gather they are clustered together in a certain part of the UK !

Sounds very tempting. I’ll have a search and see what the control modules would cost. Wiring harness is £40 from Ali. Success with the parking sensor retrofit. Just a bit of coding to tidy up.

I tend to concentrate on the numbers rather than the text. Comments are deductions and not hard facts like the numbers of the 1.8M sample stating EVs drove 444 miles more than ICE on average. The good point is that driving miles were down thru Covid and have remained lower since the Covid outbreak. One also hears, supported by numbers who are visiting camp sites, towing and not towing, were down and the cost of driving to them due to petrol and diesel prices was a major factor being mentioned. If one has chosen an EV camper, ID Buzz, PV5 and now the PV7 coming out next week, this may not be anything like the issues with cost for putting in the go-go juice being so different EV to ICE.

We have some success! New module works without any dataset changes required. No DTC on park assist module. However I do have 2 DTC on module 17. I did enable byte 5 bit 4 as per some instructions I found online, but carscanner doesn’t have the same long coding helper that vcds does so I may have done it wrong. @Cairus can you tell from the following what I’ve done wrong? My Citigo has suffered the not too uncommon issue of the hose supplying water to the rear washer splitting inside the rubber connector between the body and hatch caused, I believe, by opening and closing the hatch putting it under stress. Having got that waffle out the way I was going to just insert a connector but that may well make it less flexible and cause another split so perhaps replace the whole hose. After a bit of dismantling I have found it in the roof lining by the rear hatch where it plugs into a connector. So 2 questions, can I just replace that length of hose (approx 1.5m) and if so is it 5mm internal diameter or second idea, anyone know the part number of that piece of pipe with the connectors so it can be ordered off Skoda? After that I'll bail out the water in the rear hatch!

Those SMMT figures are highly selective as they reflect figures over the last month, just as loads are preregistered. The actual growth is only 9.8% over same period year to date over last year's, which failed to hit the required targets. Interesting to note that petrol is down 3.5% and diesel registrations are up 4%.

Hi all, In the process of an engine rebuild and looking for some advice on timing belt kits for my 2004 1.9 TDi 110 ASV. I've used a Gates kit before which seemed fine but wondered if anyone has used Febi or Continental? Also read a bit about plastic v metal impellors, people saying the plastic ones can come loose on the shaft. The kits I've mentioned all come with a plastic impellor, replicating OEM. The Gates one I removed was fine after 5+ years. Cheers for any advice. Vijay

For Superb 3 Combi. Get yourself two pre-coded and parameterized 2Q0 control units. Also get the 3D-printed adapters. @Lutz_91 has the same ones. I also have a working VAS5054A unit that you'll get with it. You only need to take care of the wiring harness and the side mirrors. Everything else via PM.

I've found that my old iPod nano isn't supported via the infotainment head unit. Probably obsolete no doubt as it ran on Bluetooth 4.0, and doesn't want to work via USB either. I've searched in the Skoda manual for what the minimum Bluetooth acceptability criteria is for media devices, but can't seem to find anything. Also checked in the Search facility on here too but nothing obvious leapt out either. It transpires that most players appear to be uni-directional so boasting v5.2 makes no difference as they wont connect to a vehicle system. I've located one, on a very short list, which should connect (multi-directional) but is only Bluetooth v4.1. Can anyone help me with the information I need please?

With DCC shocks, it is recommended to run the DCC Recalibration procedure after installing the springs. Plenty use either Eibach Pro-kit springs or H&R springs. I have had Eibach Pro-kit Springs in mine (MY17) for almost 7 yrs now, with DCC shocks. No issues. With factory 19s... With aftermarket 19s....
