  2. If those in charge did that, then the message would be so much more powerful in the eyes of others, but when they give a diktat that we should all be looking at and adopting the electric option, even if home charging is off the table for most drivers. But you don't see them in electric cars, armoured or not; then it's right back at the same level as BJ and his cabinet when they were having office parties and gatherings while others had the police knock their front doors down and were prosecuted for it. If you really want people to take the advice, then they themselves need to take the lead and set the examples. They would get a far better take-up rate if they had loads of charging hubs all over the place, loads more than there are currently, and these hubs need to be either government-funded and operated or part of the national grid or network operators. Have software installed in cars that identifies the car, its owner and who their current power supplier is, and then they get billed directly by that supplier at the special concessionary rate, so it enables all drivers to tap into the system and cars regardless of whether they can charge at home or not. Keep the PPM scheme to help replace the fuel duty so those who do a lot of miles pay pro rata as do ICE drivers. Take away all the refunds tax incentives, etc. If they had proper joined-up thinking like that in the beginning, then they might have witnessed many more EVs on the road right now.

  4. Thanks, I've tried going somewhere with a good signal. My dealer blamed a faulty aerial on the 'control panel ' as to why it wasn't communicating but that's fixed now.
  5. Some New custom tsilight project to cine on nese future. This is working svetih Razor blades DRL Red inserts brake White inserts reverse and turn signal
  6. Just a thought. We had a similar problem and it was resolved by going to a supermarket car park where there was a mobile phone signal and then things worked. Like large parts of the UK our drive doesn't have a usable phone signal.

  8. Renault 5 was the best selling in the uk last month, not a Chinese car or a Korean one. ID2 / Polo EVs should sell well, particularly the Epiq and Raval version. Shame we get them later due to the first batches will be LHD and then the RHD versions get made. New ID3 and 4 Neos look like big improvement over first versions and could see the bigger sales. If not there are good Kias to choose as well as the successful Renaults.

  10. Unfortunately the great @ApertureS hasnt been active on the forums since a house move in 2024. A great Loss to the community as he was a treasure trove of information. His car is still mot’d and hasn’t changed hands so hopefully all is well With him and life has just moved on. I don’t have this fault per se but I do have the memory fault. What I’ve scanner do you have? I use carscanner app with the icar pro module and can code and do all sorts with it. It’s a great cheap tool. If you are preparing it for sale then your best best option might be to find a local VAG independent garage who can diagnose and fix it quickly for you. PS I don’t suppose you want to swap it for a 2016 2.0tdi?! 😂
  11. Ok thanks - that's useful! I'll have a feel around based on the photos I've seen and hopefully that will be enough to find them, expose them and then transfer the positions to the liners so I can drill the liners. Just slightly annoyed as it's more faffing around! (and the prices of them appear to have dropped again!)
  12. When I fitted mine I found that you could just feel where the holes are. The undercoat would push in further where the holes were in the inner bodywork. I used a small round screwdriver to start the hole and finished it off with a 1/4 inch extension bar male end. Give us a shout if this is not enough detail for you. Thanks. AG Falco
  13. Brill - thanks:
  14. Four years on, cheeky revive of this thread - it seems this fault has just occurred on my 2017 sportline 280. I'm near North London (Herts) I'll drop you a DM if that's ok. Full disclosure I'm very sadly now preparing the car for sale. It's been such a pleasure drive the last almost decade, I'm quite sad to be parting. And i guess it is too as it's chosen this week for the powered seat module to fail, and also a flat battery (perhaps related) I'm fairly sure it's the module, as the fuse is fine and the infotainment system is saying not currently available in all the seat preferences menus I should put the OBD scanner on it too, but I've not had a lot of success getting much out of that in the past
  15. Sadly for manufacturers the benefits of EV,s are not meaning enough are bought new and first registerd to people buying or leasing for private use and all the pounds out of their pocket after they are already taxed. Maybe taxed on pensions even. Truth is Public Charging all times needed by much more than even 60% of drivers. Real world UK wide. PS, discounts on new EV,s all over the place and still the vast majority of drivers buying their new vehicle is swerving an EV.
  16. Also I have the annoying issue with the radio after owning the car for 3 years. Started after one hot warm day in April this year. So now and then the volume keeps increasing (you know..), this now already for some months. Some days more, other days less. Its my wife’s daily’s car, so I have to come up with something.. Also read topics on the internet, informed the dealer.. Opening the device to clean was my last option. I have the hardware h56 version (software 1668). For me, now after 3 weeks of hot sun on vacation it looks solved. Could the issue with some cars also be static electricity in the device/plastic due to the heat, sun, airco and so on.. (Think most of us don’t use the bar..) With one hand I touch the touchpad, other hand some mass of the car (underneath seat or something) for approx 10 seconds, and the issue is not appearing anymore. Hope it stays this way.. 🙃
  17. Evening all, We've just acquired a 2017 Citigo Colour for my daughter and, following guidance on here I've ordered wheel arch liners and fittings from Autodoc. They've just arrived and on unpacking them I've noticed that there are no holes in the arch liners for the fitting screws etc. that would allow me to find the hidden holes in the chassis... Hence is anyone able / willing to do some quick measurements for me to give me a fighting chance of finding them? I can go off the pictures in various threads on here but measurements would also help tremendously! Thanks in advance!
  18. That's a very short consist. Is that the usual?
  19. Last year i insured my EV with Admiral and Multicar. No NCD as that was 20 years and on my old Suzuki. Also insured house contents. Then February the Suzuki was insured from Fdbruary when due till September, too expensive but was looking forward to cheep renewal in September. May i got a pickup so van insurance till september. Not cheap, no NCD to use. Renewal came in last night. £1.880. So auto renewal cancled. Tried Confused, Compare and Moneysuper market for 3 vehicles. CONFUSED.com each time lowest quotes. Agias for the 2 cars. 9 years and 1 year NCD. Legal, ncd protection, RAC breakdown. SWIFT cover for pickup, legal and full breakdown and recovery. They MIRRORED the NCD. Total cost just under £900. ADMIRAL CALL HANDLER asked when i asked for proof of NCD by post if they could look at reducing the price of renewal. They have since emailed, called and txt,d to ask why not renewing. So much for MULTICAR. Renewal they said that my past 12 months paid excluding house contents was £1,550 and sorry for the increase.
  20. Right - I've just managed to look at the stuff from AutoDoc and have noticed there are no holes in the arch liners that would allow me to find the holes in the chassis... Hence is anyone able / willing to do some quick measurements for me to give me a fighting chance of finding them? I can go off the pictures in the threads linked above but measurements would also help tremendously! Thanks in advance!
  21. Run me through what yours is doing and what youve done? In the end i started looking at live data for the HPFP and noticed it was overfueling. I tested the rail sensor data and voltages and all seemed ok. I then tested the HPFP resistance and it was out of spec and so i concluded that was at fault. As soon as i fitted the new one, all the misfires went away and the jerkiness went away.. now... after some time the hesitstions and jerkiness have come back, but nowhere to the point they were. Misfires are generally 0 but when the hiccups occur, so do the misfires.. it is much better than it was, but when cold, it is a bit jumpy.. I have heard our cars are a little charachteristic of being jerky but theres a line between charachtetistic and having a fault. My next port of call is to check the data again and to check out the low pressure pump to make sure thats in spec and to check out the injectors and intake manifold.

  23. I personally favour dropping percentage targets and moving to lower vat on EVs which is what it can partly viewed as. So I "pay" £3750 vat but just get a £1500 EV grant. Better just to make EVs 10% VAT rather than 20% to encourage EVs but as we see the technology sells itself ie much lower running costs with both energy and servicing.
  24. So Mr an announcement a day PM is opening a consultation on how many EV,s will need to be first registered and by when. Let's see him and every MP receiving transportation from the public purse be in an EV, even if it is an Armoured one. And the mileage allowance for using their own vehicles set at 15 pence a mile. That's enough for their home charging or at grace and favour homes or public funded accomodation.
  25. You could try this link to see if yours is a recall https://recallactions.skoda-auto.com/448/en-MT or get your local dealer to check for you. You will need your VIN for both Alasdair
  26. Hi Did you get a solution to this I've acquired a 2020 Superb IV with exactly the same issue? Thanks

  29. Interesting video, I did notice that most of the examples shown seem to be arrays for the farmers' own use rather than what we currently see here in the UK where they are a commercial producer of electricity, as shown in the screenshots taken from Google Maps. Also the panels used for the agri use all appear to be mounted at some height above the ground. Quick observation also suggests many obstacles to the use of mechanised machines with the need to avoid all the panel structures and the electrical wiring and connections. But I can see how, subject to the right considerations and the mechanical construction of the system, to withstand high winds etc they could be used in the right conditions. When we had high winds recently, the 2-panel-wide solar farm I showed, panels mounted low to the ground, suffered considerable damage, with many panels being ripped away from the system. So does that mean that we have stronger winds than Australia, I wonder, or inadequate construction strength?
